 Just in the back door the instant Kim saw Sloppy turn from his meanderings, he would have heard the truck way before she or Sophie did. The pup bolted between her legs, straight through the house to the front door to accost Jon with the paws up on the chest and the tongue reaching for his face. Sophie squealed in delight, running hard after the mutt to greet her home coming hero. "Jon!" She stood there back a little admiring him, he did look good even to an eight year old. He was though unofficially her big brother and as things go in this house there was no monkey business. She held up her cast to show him her arm, mightily proud of it she was.

 Kim took her time, shaking her head with amusement. It never grew old with her and the boy, or man now. It was so hard to believe not too long ago she was packing lunches for him at school. By the time she got to the front, pulling Sloppy off him by the collar, Kim waited for the inevitable hug. "So Marine, how was the flight? I expect you're hungry by now." The Kentucky drawl always there, despite living in Springs since 96, she never lost it. Then the big wide grin. "We missed you Jon, didn't we Pumpkin?" She tapped her daughter lightly on the head, pushing her towards the young man.

"Oh yes we did.....Jon! Aunty Sam had babies!!!!" Another squeal before she wrapped her arms around his waist.

Jon didn't like to linger on planes he wasn't flying or in crowds full of strangers. He was out of his seat and off the plane with his duffle bag in hand as fast as he could go without being rude. He didn't much like wearing his uniform for transport when he didn't have to, because it always drew stares or insincere platitudes or intrusively morbid questions like have you ever killed anyone?, but he hadn't had a chance to make it to the SLCR on base before he was given orders to report to Cheyenne Mountain, to report to - home.

There was no one waiting for him at arrivals, no hug or welcome home sign, but he didn't need that, had been used to going without that for - longer than he cared to admit. Longer than anyone would believe. He found his truck, his trusty old F-150 (that was "older" than him, or so everyone remarked the first time they saw it), and paused. He circled it, inspecting it, wary. New front tires. Kim. Of course she'd done it while he was gone. She forgot he didn't need a mother, hadn't for a long time. But he appreciated the thoughtfulness. Paying her back would be easy.

After so long on a plane with someone else at the stick, it was a relief to be behind the wheel. Jon fired it up, backed it out, and turned it toward Sutton Farm, the place he'd more or less called home since - since the beginning.

He rolled down the window to enjoy the warm summer evening as he headed out of the city. The gray concrete gave way to paved roads gave way to green fields and the peaceful sparsity of farmhouses. He didn't have to think too hard to make the journey: his body knew the way home, the same way it remembered the gate address for home.

Kim's silver pickup was out front of the house when he pulled up. He parked beside it so as not to block her in, then hopped out, dragging his duffle bag with him. He trotted up the front steps to the porch, let himself in the front door with a cheery holler of,

"Honey, I'm home!"

 "See I knew it." Walter said to Sarah with a degree of humor. He piped over the gate room PA. "SG9 don't go anywhere, the CO wants to see you upstairs immediately." He then answered the Admiral over the intercom. "They'll be right up sir."

 "Jack..." Sam all but whispered pointing to the little bundles peacefully sleeping beneath her sheets. "...tell Lou that Albert Reynolds is still with us, as is of course Walter and Kim Sutton now a major he will remember as our now longest serving SGC resident..." She was starting to feel sleepy herself at that juncture. She thought about Kim for a moment, wondering in her drowsy state why their friend wasn't a Colonel by now. Then she recalled Kim telling Jack not too long ago that if she went past Major she could kiss the SGC goodbye, Air Force Nursing would be shipping her back to the Nursing school or HQ promptly as a teaching officer, something she would never concede to doing.

<Royal Palace>

 "Many times." Josile reflected on the countless occasions her people had to infiltrate Borg cities under the cover of darkness in the north and north east. Many of them had occupied ancient fortresses and locations, this was no different. A moment later she slipped over the edge to follow the others down. When she was near the teams she whispered to them. "I believe the most likely location for any royalty will be in the centre upon the middle levels, they too will be the most heavily guarded."

 By now Bobbie was setting up for targeting, but it was Kim's job to do the delivery. "Kim." She said over the headset. "Arm the first load, rotate six for delivery on my mark." Then she let Aurore take the controls, from here on in Bobbie would coordinate between pilot and weapons officer.

 "Callsigns..oh." She had forgotten, hopefully the others hadn't. "SG-7 Tango one, MCU Charlie two."

 Neither did she, Lily didn't exactly get along with the old man in any case, so that was provident for her. She held her cards close most of the time, not now though, as the struggle to achieve this much sought after rank was so precious to her now. It had been a hard road, all her own doing of course, she wouldn't shrink away from that. "Again Admiral I am grateful. I think though I will go early if Walter has my flight arrangements. I know DC well and getting settled in for what maybe a long few days with the investigation committee is on top of my list." She then gave her attention back to Maria, Mesa and Ty.

 "Yeah well it was overdue wasn't it?" At least she was sort of grinning now, somehow the Admiral's presence had altered her mood. No guessing why, even though she knew before hand, it was always nice getting it in person. "Guys, I am going to pack and run, you have my number, call me when you get to Seattle okay?"

 The brunette looked chuffed for two reasons, she was happy for her friend and she was over the moon concerning her new command with the added bonus she wasn't going to be separated from Mesa and Ty. The three of them had been through too much together. "Take care of yourself Lily." Maria told her giving the other woman a quick hug. "I'll make sure 'we' call." She added giving the other two a steady glance. Taking a long step back Maria acknowledged Ian just a moment before the Airman entered. "A lot of packing sir, I think for me at least 22 hours will be cutting it fine." Her face was beaming, barely able to contain herself. "I will make sure though we arrive with time to spare. Mesa, Ty, we have things to do, if we may sir?" Last goodbyes were in order, then a little leave.

 Looking into the dark sky as if she were searching for something Marill took her time in answering. She was cold, tired and everything else that she could feel to make her uncomfortable, the most of that being the dilemma they all now faced. Move or freeze to death along with starvation. The last crops had been good as far as feeding the village and the drafts, but they had only enough for a month weeks at best, with a lot of that being consumed on the long trek south. "Just before sunset then, before even meal. And Yatar, I intend to spend most of today meditating. It may not be sleep as we know but at least I will be rested. I 'will' sleep when this move is off my mind Yatar and not before." She gave him a cheery smile. "Blunt is much appreciated, I would expect no less from you." Food, that was the last thing on her mind. "Until this evening then?"

So, I am also Lorne, and hanging out in the Atlantis gate room? Let me know if you need me to do anything to get things moving?
