 "The harbour it is then Major. We're lucky we have the smartest bombs in town today, I'm looking at the FLIR, it appears there are at least 3 civilian vessels down there." Bobbie wasn't about to make the same mistake twice. Once back when she was with the Atlantis mission, she was seconded to the Daedalus on a cleansing sortee over supposed Wraith held territory. The intel was wrong, she dropped over 1,000 kilograms of heavy metal on innocents. She will never get over that. "Maybe Commander Renner can take the power station on?"

Teya grinned as Glenn got the beam up and going.  Hopefully everyone would stay safe on the ground.  She heard Bobbie's words across the radio.   "We can do that," she answered.

Taer and his group moved into cover. They did their duty providing ground cover for SG 7. Sidling up near Joslie, he whispered, "Been awhile since I've been in this position before in the enemy city. Joslie, have you done this before?"

He kept his voice down while his team remained silent and on lookout for the enemy.

"Good. We'll target them first. But I want us to remain close to the Marines in the event they require close air support." Aurore said, "And yes, they can handle the power station, but I want them to keep their remaining targets close to the castle in case SG-7 or -15 call for close air support as well...merde, we don't have callsigns assigned on this op."

<Royal Palace>

 "Many times." Josile reflected on the countless occasions her people had to infiltrate Borg cities under the cover of darkness in the north and north east. Many of them had occupied ancient fortresses and locations, this was no different. A moment later she slipped over the edge to follow Astrid next. When she was nearer to Brian she whispered to him. "I believe the most likely location for any royalty will be in the centre upon the middle levels, they too will be the most heavily guarded."

                                             ************

<401-32 Merlin>
 By now Bobbie was setting up for targeting, but it was Kim's job to do the delivery. "Kim." She said over the headset. "Arm the first load, rotate six for delivery on my mark." Then she let Aurore take the controls, from here on in Bobbie would coordinate between pilot and weapons officer.

 "Callsigns..oh." She had forgotten, hopefully the others hadn't. "SG-7 Tango one, MCU Charlie two."

<401-32 Merlin>

Kim was itching to do something.  She wanted these Forerunners to know who they were dealing with.  How dare they think they could come in and walk all over the ones already living peacefully near the Alpha Site.  Well, sort of peaceful.  The Borg seemed a mystery.  Now wasn't the time to think about that though.

A grin touched her lips. "Got it," she answered, turning to her console and selecting the right options and making sure she had her coordinates down correctly.  No way she wanted to mess that up.  "Armed and waiting for your go ahead."

<Royal Palace>

Brian nodded, and waited for the rest of his team to get up inside before they made their way further into the palace through the air ducts, which dead-ended into a large hallway. Taking point, Brian slid out and dropped onto the floor, sweeping with his Five Seven before moving away and waving that it was clear. The rest of SG-7 dropped down with him, and began advancing down the corridors to a corner. Peering round carefully, Brian spotted a pair of armed guards guarding a large pair of doors.

"Contact, two hostiles. Astrid, on me, drop 'em fast and quiet." Brian whispered. The Swedish specialist nodded and the two of them swung out from cover and fired a burst from their rifles into the guards' heads. Brian then led the way up to the door. He looked to Josile.

"This looks like the place. We're going to basically go in loud, disorient them and try to keep them from reacting. The plan is to use a breaching charge to blow the door in, toss in flashbangs, and fire Intars on anyone who raises a weapon. But Vallois can fire in a tear gas round as well if you feel that will help, but it will take longer for them to recover to a point to where they'll pay attention to you." Brian said quietly, while removing the magazine from his M4, and then slapped in one that had a glowing red baseplate before racking the bolt to chamber an Intar round. Everyone else followed suit, with Denis also racking open his M203 to load in a CS gas round.

<401-32 Merlin>

"Oh, no, I meant for the -401s." Aurore said, before shaking her head slightly and went to the radio, "One-Six, Three-Two. Begin your approach to the power station. Tango One, Charlie Two, we are about to commence air strikes, how copy?"

"Solid copy. Requesting TOT of strikes." Brian whispered back through the radio.

"Roger. One-Six, report when ready to attack and call out time on target after weapons release. We'll sync our attack with yours, call the shot." Aurore replied, and looked over to Kim, "Stand by on weapons release until Renner is in position to strike."

<Forerunner Parliament Building>

The Primary team continued to sweep the building. Having found a large room they were clearing the people they were detaining towards it. The Medical personel along with the four lance corporals were guarding the stair case and the room. The lead unit, led by Brad had already incapacitated three additional security teams that had tried to stop them. Though no alarms were blaring in this building they had to assume either alarms in other buildings were going off and everybody was on alert because of what was happening outside, or that somebody had tripped a silent alarm.
"This is going surprisingly well." Said Ruby as she watched Brad kick the latest batch of dropped security weapons in to a pile as Patrick and Spencer were dragging the unconscious security agents towards the stair case.
"Dont say that..." Sighed Brad as he opened and closed his zat a little nerviously. He didnt want to say it but this was to easy, the glance he got from Captain Lawler showed she felt the same before she replied to the Commandant.
"Copy." She said her mind on the job at hand and not something out of her control. But they haddnt had a radio call from Ramirez on the front door,, so for now they would wait and once this floor was clear, they would move everybody down a floor, and sweep that one.
"At this rate." Said Espisito as he returned. "next floor down we are going to need a bigger room for all these VIP's" He said 'VIP's' little mockingly, It caused Brad to wonder, were these POW's, or hostages in this case? But that didnt matter, he just had to hope that the building had a big chamber like Congress did somewhere. Other wise they were going to have to waist manpower guarding more than one room.

<Royal Palace>

 The first contact was alarming, Josile even though she predicted the guards hadn't bargained it would happen so quickly. Nor did any other's see the hulking shadow approaching around a nearby corner in the semi lit passageway. "Down." She warned the team as her knife was unsheathed. She waited all but three seconds judging exactly where the brute would show, her arm arched back behind her shoulder then with a precise throw the blade left her hand as the giant Forerunner eased his head around the stone. Thud! The  hardened steel Cavalieros fighting knife plunged deeply into his throat. A gurgle and a spray of blood with another thud as he fell ended that threat. Calmly she spoke again. "We've roused them, I believe your plan is working, shall we carry on?" Josile paused in thought  briefly to answer Brian's question. "We need to eliminate any resistance we encounter, our goal is to find the Empress, no one else will be of use to us if I correctly understand their culture. Once we have her in hand, we take her out of the picture enabling us to use her as the bargaining chip to bring these monsters to the peace table once and for all."

                                             ************

<401-32 Merlin>

"Oh." She said again, feeling a little stupid. "Merlin and Iron Maiden. It's the same with all the 401's, their callsigns are designated when they are giving a commissioning name to keep things simple I guess." They were moving fast now, the docks were coming up closer and closer in the IR camera feed. Bobbie could almost see crewmen on the decks. "We'll need to decloak, articles of war and all that BS."

"Roge. Alright, here's the play then," Brian started, "Lofquist, Vallois, we'll conduct the breach itself. We're going for full on shock and awe here, so breach, flash and gas, then clear. We're using Intars so drop everyone. Koralov, Grecko, you're on rear guard. The second we start this, they're liable to start running here. Hold them off until we have who we're looking for. Ma'am, I'd like you in behind me and the breaching team, you're probably the best bet we have to making sure we take the right one with us. After that, Plan A is to slap a tag on the HVT and we beam out, Plan B is bag and drag to the LZ."

"Are we waiting on the airstrike first?" Denis asked.

"We give 'em another minute or so, but I'm not waiting around. If we get spotted again, we're kicking this off." Brian said, and then took a breath before unclipping his helmet to pull on his gasmask and then resecured his helmet once it was in place. "Masks on." Brian ordered, and the others pulled theirs on in the same fashion. Grecko and Koralov set up on opposite sides of the hall covering the way they came, while Denis slung his rifle and pulled out a flat package from his pack. He set it on the door and began unfolding it onto the door.

"Charges set. On your go." Astrid said with a thumbs up.

Teya kept an eye on her screens, ready to deploy their bombs at a moment's notice once they had the station in sight. She was not going to mess this up. She glanced at Glenn and grinned when she got the all good.  “Bombs away!” She called, pressing the buttons to deploy their JDAMs
.
A smile lit her face as she watched the missiles streak toward the power station.   As the first missile made contact the little station seemed to sizzle.  The next missile sent the whole station up in a raging ball of fire.  “Direct hit!”

<Merlin >
Kim waited for the signal.   “Bombs deployed,” she said, hitting the button.  She watched with pride as the  missiles streaked toward their intended target.

<Royal Palace>

 Giving Brian an affirmative answer that she understood, Josile checked the side arm she was given, the reddish crystal under the magazine was showing active. She hadn't fired one before, only live rounds so there was a slight apprehension in her gut. Admittedly she felt more confident though now than when they were planning this, even if she did feel naked without her bow. "We should stick to the plan Captain, the Empress or at worst the Father. From the prisoners we've questioned back home, they seem to revere her above even life itself. If we can take her, I believe we can end this war quickly." All in a whisper, they were so near the guards now they could hear them breathing.
                                             ************

<401-32 Merlin>

 "Bingo! Great job Kim." Bobbie exclaimed joyfully. Watching through the IFR camera feed she saw at least one largish vessel collapse in the center, with a smaller patrol boat, or it looked like one, go down in a ball of fire. Her head looked up at her surface radar, there appeared to be at least for of those small craft heading out to sea fast. "Major." She nodded at the pilots feed on the HUD. Maybe time for a little gunnery practice?

<Royal Palace>

"NV. Going to get real dark real fast." Brian said upon hearing over the radio the airstrikes were starting. Sure enough, the lights suddenly went out and there was a dull rumble from the distance, like thunder. Everyone flipped their helmet mounted goggles down into place.

"Execute." Brian said.

"Fire in the hole." Denis replied and hit the detonator. The door exploded inwards into a shower of splinters. Brian and Astrid both then hurled flashbangs into the room, turning away to avoid getting caught in the effect themselves. Both devices went off, causing the occupants of the hall, which appeared once they got a good look at it to be a banquet hall, to howl in pain from being blinded, deafened and disoriented.

"GO GO GO!" Brian called out, darting into the room and shouldering his M4. He swung left, where a guard was laying on the floor and trying to get back up after being blown aside by the door exploding. Brian shot him once, the Intar blast subduing the target, before he moved to start working his way along the left side of the massive table.

"BREACHING!" Astrid called out, just to make sure they knew she was moving in as well. She snapped a pair of Intar shots into the guard on the right, before taking a position to sweep the right side of the table, firing her Ak5C in semi-automatic and deliberately selecting targets based on who was a threat as opposed to being just a guest.

Denis aimed the ladder sights for his M203 to the furthest point in the hall and fired a single tear gas round, which sailed across the room to land at the head of the table, spewing its chemical payload. Deftly, he racked open the breach, letting the casing fall and fed in a second one, which was sent to the middle of the table, before launching a third just ahead of the door.

"On you, madame." Denis said to Josile, standing up to follow her into the room.

The commotion had caused several guards to come racing to investigate, but without much light and even less in terms of understanding what was going on, the group of guards that rounded the corner were caught completely off guard by the Intar cross-fire laid down by Stan and Nikolai.

"Throwing smoke, cover." Stan said, pulling a smoke grenade from his webbing and tossed it down the corridor where the guards had come from.

The occupants of the banquet hall were now struggling to react, their eyes were now burning and every breath they drew caused them to start coughing uncontrollably. The darkness was only broken up by the red energy blasts that crisscrossed the room, and the hall echoed with the gunfire of assault rifles and one pistol.

<401-32 Merlin>

Aurore watched through the FLIR imaging screen as the bombs fell, and landed into the first ship. There was a flash for a moment as the IR bloomed from the heat of the explosion, before showing that the ship had a massive chunk taken out of its starboard side and was already starting to list, water eagerly rushing into the opened hole.

"Good effect on target. Continue engaging." Aurore said to Kim, she looked up to see that the lights of the city were now extinguished. "They might believe they are being shelled at range. Get ahead of them and then engage. Let's keep that fiction alive for the moment." Aurore replied to Bobbie.

"One-Six, Three-Two is moving to engage fast moving ships heading to open waters. Watch for targets of opportunity and keep an open ear for Tango." Aurore said over the radio, "Charlie Two, be advised we are engaging hostile ships in the harbor, but we are available for fire support."

Kim felt like she should salute but settled for a head nod.  "you got it," she said, sending a grin Bobbie's way.  Maybe they would get through this thing yet.  She tweaked a few things on her screen, prepared to hit them again.

<Iron Maiden>

Teya fist pumped the air.  "Direct hit," she grinned at Glenn.   "Let's see if we can keep that up." She turned the Iron Maiden in a circle to make a second strike.

<Royal Palace>

 To Josile it was all noise, she had to block her ears at several points as the team went through the process of subduing the occupants. And there were many of them. What worried her was how long it would take for outside reinforcements to arrive. Everything typically moved with a speed the Eartherns were more than used to, luckily for her, Josile's own method of going into combat wasn't all that different. She was more than pleased to, when she finally got to use the Intar weapon, claiming three down for herself.

 With all the Forerunners down and out, which quite surprisingly included many humans, Josile moved around the unconscious to make a confirmed ID of the Princes Alia, Denis was right on her six. After searching back and forth a few times, she finally found the one they were looking for. To be sure, she slipped out the photo Miki gave her. "I expected her to be somewhat bigger than she is." Looking down on the girl, who was more than obvious to ID with three burly guards laying near her, dark hair splayed around her head like a crown; the pendant from her brow gave her the rank she held. "Almost human isn't she?" She bent closer, Alia was out cold. "We can tag her and leave, unless you feel there is more we can do to put a burr into these people?"

                                             ************

<401-32 Merlin>

 With the 401 now uncloaked it wouldn't take much for their enemy to visually see them. For although there was no moon, the bright starlit sky wasn't hiding anything, certainly those below might see the dark shapes flying high above them. Bobbie felt secure in the knowledge or at least what she thought was the fact these people had no apparent defence against airborne attacks.

 There was quite a few targets of opportunity, though not long after the effect of those first two, the city went dark. There were two reasons she expected for that, in the first instance Teya had done a damned good job on the Power Station, but of course the Forerunners in all likelihood have more than that asset alone; the second reason which was standard procedure in any developed world was to go dark, deny your enemy at least a visual perspective of what you were attacking. That didn't matter with the 401, with her infrared mapping they still had a live feed in real time of what was below. "Kimbo, I'm sure the Major would like to see how effective our gunnery is. Let's see what those gunboats are made of shall we? Unleash the Equalizer, Major I would advise a 100 feet approach."
