Lucia planet

Khnum at the sight of Sobek's arrival, smiled slightly, he knew that the God of the planet Faiyum would surely have said something that would create a potential diplomatic incident. And as it was intended to prove, here the goa'uld made that unhappy sentence addressed to Grundel herself. The atmosphere had become heavy for a moment, but it was Khnum himself that dampened the tone of provocation.

"I guess you came with your entire fleet, in fact we need ha'tak right now, I just hope your stay is enough to bring us all back home!" he replied sarcastically, knowing full well that Sobek had understood what he wanted to express.

In hearing of the arrival of the Jaffa fleet, Euclus was filled with a rush of hatred. He looked at Grundel with a face of disgust, how could she have the gall to call those people, of all people, to help them?
Impudent slaves rebelling against their rightful masters, and now with a fleet of starships seized from their owners.
Chattel pretending to be free.
He had half a mind of closing all communications from those parodies of men led by a woman - another one - lest they stir up his own with fables of freedom.
"This must be a great threat, lady Grundel, for you to call the free Jaffa". A cruelly cynical observation, composed and yet pronounced with every last bit of his own hatred. Gods and chattel, and possibly Tau'ri as well. No honour and no sense of shame whatsoever. To put herself in a position in which she would owe anything at all to those people...

Then, finally, Sobek's bald head materialized before them. Drawing a deep breath, Euclus recomposed himself to greet him with the respect he deserved. "Ah, Lord Sobek, we have been expecting you". One towards whom he already owed something. One who deserved being owed something.

A frown coursed across Grundel's face, one of displeasure. If they were to defeat this enemy they must all work together as they had done most recently. Sarcasm and barbs spoken to one another whether they be allies or former foe must be put aside immediately. For the moment she ignored that fact, instead giving the Free Jaffa leader leave to join them. "Ishta your timing comes at great need, you have my permission to join us." As she spoke, Grundel made sure the others heard the tone of her reply. To Euclus she gave him no doubt as to who was the ruler here. "When you speak to, or of our allies, I expect the same courtesy as afforded to you Euclus and everyone else here. Now is not the time for petty insults." She left it at that, readying herself to welcome the others.

A moment later the hum of the Asgard beam could be heard, Ishta appeared with two of her personal guard, women of the Hak'tyl warrior clan. Of much the same mold as those guards drawn from Grundel's Leopard warrior women. "I greet you in return Lady Grundel." She said using the preferred pronoun as one woman to another. Ishta acknowledged the other Goa'uld with a tilt of her head. "Our long range scanners told us on the way in, your enemy is now some 14 hours away, not a lot of time to gather defence and allies is it?"

Before answering Grundel tilted her head towards Sobek and Khnum. "Your support is welcome Lord Sobek, depending on who else can join us before the time is upon us, we can only hope we have enough."

"Fourteen hours, they move swiftly Ishta, faster than anticipated. We need to send out that scout sooner than we bargained for. I can send one of my own if it needs be."

Ishta caught the meaning, she was well prepared. "We have one several of the Tauri drop ships as they call them, one of those would be ideal for the task."

"I have seen them at work, their cloaking is vastly superior to our own as much as it galls me to admit. Very well Ishta, but I would advise you not to go alone; perhaps one of our friends might accompany you?" She did at times have her own brand of mild sarcasm.

"I agree ... we could send at least one Drop ship in order to better evaluate the magnitude of this force of assault, my ships at this moment have shields and weapons ready, they will be at maximum power when this fleet arrives, my same flagship has a power increased by the crystal that I have given to each of you, but I hope not to have to draw from its energy to defend myself further! "

"... anyway fourteen hours and calculated the speed, are a remarkable technological milestone, we should capture one of their ships and study the technology to make our ships faster than the current standard!" Khnum finally concluded, looking at those present. The System Lord knew very well that the craving for technology was typical of his kind, and even he was immune to it.

Sobek was for a moment pleased to be among intelligent members of his own kind that saw the universe the way he himself did, the son of Mefitis he noted was quite fiery as he would expect. Khnum, his brother as always was the most calm when faced with such difficult situations. He had immediately learned after arriving himself of the arrival of those that had betrayed their gods and caused the collapse of order that had lead to all their troubles at this time but for the moment decided saying anything further would achieve very little. Besides Euclus had already said enough for all of them combined, of course he was unpleased considering the free Jaffa represented everything they were against.

The crocodile god moved to examine information screens that held what little information of their enemy they currently had access to. It certainly troubled him when Grundel began speaking to one of their enemies as a friend but then he supposed expecting any differently would have been foolish. They had come to assist Grundel because it was agreed she was one of them, yet she insulted them by forcing them to bear the presence of traitors.

“Why have you come?” he asked turning to the free Jaffa leader with a look of interest.

He wanted to know why they would risk their ships and lives for a Goa’uld that they supposedly despised so much. His best assumption was they hoped to gain something or perhaps already had and were simply defending their interests.

The tone of Sobek towards the commander of the free jaffa nation, arrived in their presence, had been contemptuous almost to the limit of insolence. But then, like not giving him radium to his brother Sobek, the jaffas had massively betrayed the gods, causing the collapse of the empire goa'uld, this could not be kept silent. Despite the great efforts made in those years, it had not yet been rebuilt. A myriad of tiny goa'uld domains dotted the entire galaxy. No one bigger than a handful of planets. Even the territory apparently controlled by Alienna was nothing but an illusion.

"Lord Sobek ... we need their fleet, it's sad and I hate to say it, but we need it again and this despite the betrayal right away, the threat is such that we need a great alliance and they own a considerable fleet!" the System Lord concluded, knowing full well that his words could have made a break on the leaders of the Free Jaffa Nation.

"As sovereign goa'uld I turned the page, I decided to forgive the jaffas who rebelled, not to pursue more the dream of redeeming them, they made a choice and I think that continue with these recriminations, both useless and harmful!" he completed by observing those present and looking for Grundel's gaze.

Ishta's guards stiffened at Sobek's remark only to be put at ease by a single hand from their leader held up in a command of 'stay your wrath'. She was more than immune to insults from his kind now, having suffered much the same thing during the last two wars where they all had to fight for their freedoms. But she was not about to fall into his baiting, rather she stood their with all the defiance she once showed Molloc, a stance of power that made many men quiver. "I could as easily leave Sobek, thus leaving the Lady Grundel with a limited defence of her world. But then why would I do that? Is it not better to meet the enemy head on, rather than wait like a quivering coward for your own death?"

That was a surprise Grundel thought. Her esteem of the natural enemy just went up a notch or three. She looked at the FJN leader with new appraise. There was nothing she could add to that. Although she did wonder where the Tauri where. Should she contact them again?

Was this even a common enemy? His own?
Who was attacked again? Grundel and the Tau'ri, neither of them trustworthy people, though one of them was, he hated to admit this, his ally. Well, his mother's, and he was there on her behalf. Honor dictated that this woman be helped but he had no intention of doing so gratuitiously and by sending his men with those failed incubators.

Was this her homeworld? "One of us has to do it. Lady Grundel, this is your world and your friend here" certainly not his own "appears to be willing to help you. I suggest the use of a Jaffa dropship together with what you have at your disposal for this mission". Then she would be the spearhead of its defense.

"Arguing among us is useless and counterproductive, if you have nothing against it, I offer a tel'tak and a mixed crew to avoid misunderstandings, one for each of those present unless you have other plans in this regard!" Khnum replied, trying to soften the stalemate in which they had fallen.

Not far away from where they stood, the Chappaai burst into life, Leopard clan guards stood ready with weapons pointed directly at the gate. A device similar to the Tauri iris was in place though Grundel's device was closer akin to that used by Ba'al. A voice over the communication waves followed.

"Lucia this is Stargate command, Earth. Request permission to send our advance team through."

Even though she was some distance away, Grundel heard the request over her own personal communicator. She was relieved in a way to have some distraction from the current arguing. "Permission granted." She said curtly, then turned her attention to her 'guests' after pressing a crystal on her wrist device to lower the shield. "This debate is pointless. The request from me was simple, that someone other than from my own Jaffa was to accompany Ishta, I do not think that requires endless discussion do you?"

"We will return to our ships or so I will do, I will wait to receive more information at least that you do not have other things to communicate Lady Grundel, then with your permission, I will return to my Apo'tak!" the System Lord Khnum replied with great courtesy, bowing his head slightly, waiting for the other goa'uld present to make a decision.

As he was about to retort, the stargate activated and burst to life. Euclus hesitated for a moment before deciding to ignore everything. He knew they would have come anyway, no point in demonstrating his anger. "By all means, Lord Khnum" he raised a finger "if you desire to help Lady Grundel and the Jaffa in this mission, do it, we could really use the informations we could gather from it. It is just that I cannot in good conscience send my men with Ishta's". And, hopefully, that was final.

Lucia orbit, Khnum fleet

The conveyor rings carried the System Lord and his personal escort aboard the great Apo'tak. In a few minutes the goa'uld reappeared in the pel'tak of the ship where Jandir was waiting at the controls of the ship itself and Kelani, the goa 'uuld more mysterious in the wake of Khnum. None of the System Lord's two servants said a word, after all it must have been the most powerful goa'uld to address the word first and not vice versa. Khnum passed them, nodding immediately to his right hand toward Faris. the latter attracted the attention of both Kelani and Jandir. the Apo'tak throne room was next to the great pel'tak. Khnum had just sat on the golden throne, without the mask.

"The situation is more difficult than expected, Sobek and the son of Queen Mefitis are in agreement with us, I have some doubts about the work of Grundel, but for now I do not think it is appropriate to investigate in this sense ... Jandir will take a phone 'tak and you will make a reconnaissance towards the enemy fleet ... "

"... the tel'tak will have to remain hidden to life and decrease the heat emanation of the engines to remain hidden for the longest time from their sight and their sensors, only when you have enough data or there is a real danger, you are authorized to return and report! " the System Lord concluded, making his eyes sparkle.

"How do you order my lord!" replied the jaffa coming out immediately from the throne room with a mission entrusted to him alone. When the jaffa was away from the hall, Rashaken turned to Khnum himself, asking for an explanation of his order.

"My lord ... as long as Jandir is skilled and has already participated in extremely dangerous missions in this mode, do not you think it's a gamble to send him without an escort?" he asked, knowing full well that this statement could also unnerve the System Lord.

"Jandir is a great jaffa, an infiltrated spy with great experience of the rest I would not have readmitted if I did not know its best and worst features, will operate in perfect Stealth mode and send us as required, do not doubt the skills of your Rashaken soldiers!" Khnum replied, smiling as the scene moves out of the ship where we see the microscopic tel'tak in comparison, disappearing from view thanks to the concealment.

"Lucia, this is Vice Admiral Ian McRaven, commanding officer of this facility. We currently have a vessel inbound to your location as well, but our advance team is taking the lead here to meet directly with you and to assist in coordinating our arriving forces."

Cam and SG-1 stepped through the gate and onto Lucia's surface, with all manner of Jaffa still serving their Goa'uld masters watching them. Cam eyed them as well for a moment, but kept his expression neutral as he stepped forward, letting his SCAR hang over his chest while tipping the brim of his ballcap slightly in greeting.

"Howdy folks. Colonel Cameron Mitchell, SG-1, along with Vala Mal Doran, Chief Petty Officer Morgan Cooper, and Talyeea. Also, SG-1. We've got an appointment with Grundel." Cam said with a mix of casual and seriousness.

"Well this is new!" Vala had been to Lucia previously, quite some time ago in her former role as a smuggler among other things. In that time the Stargate was out in the open in the middle of what was the town square. But this, this was something akin to a palace with the Gate firmly ensconced within, heavily guarded all round with as many Staff weapons as she could imagine pointed at anyone or anything that might venture through. To her left was a large floor length window, beyond that was no simple town any longer as a huge modern city filled her vision. She estimated they must be at least twenty five or thirty stories above the ground; certainly not the world of the Lucian Alliance she knew. Vala swallowed hard at the thought of just how powerful this young Goa'uld had become to rule over this world. With Cam's introduction she merely moved her head up then down slowly. "How do." They would know her of course, if not directly her name wasn't going to escape attention. Whether they will put old anxieties aside or not was another thing.

She leaned in close to Cam. "Is there somewhere else in life I could be rather than here right now. If there is I don't know it, surely my fate couldn't be that twisted that whatever life I lived before is going to haunt me for the rest of my days."
