<<From the Battlefield>>

 They arrived within the time set, with Teya making a perfect orbit directly over the Alpha site. When they arrived it was then agreed between her, Kim and Bobbie she would beam down to attend the briefing and they would be parking the 'car' so to speak at the airfield. Once that was done, they were to make their way through the underground tunnel system to the briefing themselves.

 "Well Kim, you know me I'm not one to get around ogling at every guy that gives me the eye or giving him a pleased smile. If they're so damned interested, say something fercryinoutloud!" So many have taken to emulating that famous phrase of late, Bobbie was just another one. They reached the elevator to take them up, the conversation had been about the 'Frenchman' Denis, he was kind of cute though.

<<From the Battlefield>>

Teya had disappeared in the beam without a word.  Kim shook her head a bit.  Beaming still seemed so odd at times.  Like a real sci fi movie come to life.  Well, right now she wasn't going to think about that as they still had a lot to do.

She chuckled a bit at her friend's words. "Yeah they sure don't know how to say anything," she agreed. "Unfortunately I don't know how to change that."

"Me neither." A small laugh escaped her lips at the same time as her eyes went rather wide, fixing on her 'target' when they finally made it to the actual room. Giving Teyla a wave, Bobbie nudged Kim over to the seats down in front of the dais. She loved this room, being more like a Uni lecture hall than the old briefing room back at the SGC. As they walked down the center aisle, Bobbie made sure that Denis saw her, well of course she did. "Hi guys, made it one piece I see?" She also noted the new people so without ado she introduced herself. "I'm Flight Lieutenant Robyn Hatfield, my buddy here is our ace gunner and all round uno numero on anything to do with erm, shooting things." Sometimes she did stumble over her words, but the effect was there.

Captain Harley Lawler - USMC
1st Lieutenant John Spencer - USMC
1st Lieutenant Alexander Ramirez - USAF
Lieutenant JG Jane Iles - USN
Gunnery Sergeant Bradley Cooper - USMC
Staff Sergeant Tony Espisito - USMC
Sergeant Patrick Rayes - USMC
Sergeant Ruby Miranda - USMC
HM Corpsman 2nd Class Timmothy O’Brian - USN
Corporal Martin Grant - USMC
Corporal Harold McGraw - USMC
Corporal Josh Patterson - USMC
HM Corpsman 3rd Class Stephen Edwards - USN
Lance Corporal Pablo Garcia - USMC
Lance Corporal Karl Abraham - USMC
Lance Corporal Thomas James - USMC
Lance Corporal William O’Hera - USMC
Lance Corporal Robert Simpson - USMC
Lance Corporal Walter Manning - USMC

The Marine Combat Unit entered the room. They haddnt actully been here before, well. Not all of them, Lieutenant Iles and Ramirez had been there before. As Lieutenant Iles was a Navy Doctor and had never gone through the First Recon training she had done a intensive training course in the Alpha site a few months ago. And Lieutenant Ramirez, having initially been destined for a normal SG Team had done the standard SGC training time here. But only Captain Lawler, Lieutenant Spencer, Gunny Cooper and Staff Sergeant Espisito had come here when they first arrived. But they haddnt been there long, they had missed any official briefing and had gotten their orders from some Major left waiting for them.

Most of the team had taken seats to the rear. With most of the gear, a few had already switched off and were sleeping. with the Sergeants and above closer to the front. With the officers, Lawler, Spencer, Ramirez and Iles only a few rows from the front and Cooper, Espisito, Rayes, Miranda and O'Brian one row behind them. All of their combat gear had been left at the top with the rest of the team and they sat, having come straight from the 401, they still wore their tattered Desert MARPAT cammies, with there with belt kit, leg holsters and side arms still on, but they all had their note books out, Pens at the ready to take down any details.

 Not too long after leaving the gate room, Miki found herself walking down the long slope of the briefing room. She didn't stop, going straight to the dais to stand slightly behind Michelle. Ipad in hand she made sure the coffee machine was working, the projector was ready to use and the microphone was switched on. "All set now Colonel."

<Dr. Stanislaw Grecko>
<Specialist Astrid Lofquist>

It was not possible for Denis or his teammates to miss the way the Australian from the -401 was trying to get his attention. Nikolai simply rolled his eyes, but Astrid looked over at him. Brian just let out a breath, he had tried to warn them about his team demolitionist's charm. Grecko just tried to ignore it for the time being.

"An acquaintance of yours?" Astrid asked in French, her voice low.

"Aha, just met. But I can't help myself in good company." Denis replied in his native language, his voice also low. He gave Bobbie a grin and a half-wave, half-salute.

"I see. Seems your charm works faster than you think, eh?" Astrid chuckled lightly. She shook her head and crossed her arms, trying to give the (correct) impression that she wasn't interested in his charms.

"Then I suggest you turn it off, Sergeant." A voice said next to them. Aurore was on the stairs descending to the center of the room, having stopped next to Coffin's team. "Captain Coffin? I'm Commandant Aurore Berge, the new Executive Officer of this facility. Before I left Stargate Command, I was asked to pass something along for you and your team. Congratulations, you're now a fully fledged SG Team."

The French fighter pilot handed over a stack of shoulder patches, now indicating that they were now SG-7. Brian smiled as he passed them out to his teammates.

"Yes ma'am, thank you ma'am. And don't worry about Sergeant Vallois. He knows when to get his head in the game." Brian said.

"I hope so, Captain. Because we have a lot of work ahead of us." Aurore replied and continued to the front of the room, standing to the side of the podium while waiting for Michelle.

Kim followed her buddy.  It seemed Bobbie had a seat in mind.  She hid a chuckle behind her hand when Bobbie tried to catch Denis' attention.  she nodded a hello to them before moving quickly over with Teya.

Teya returned Bobbie's wave.  She could only guess what the girls had been up to before finally making their way here.

Michelle took a deep breath as Miki finished preparing everything.  She had never faced anything quite like this before.  And anything else that had ever come close she had had Alex by her side.  Dang man.  She missed him so much.  She absently played with her engagement ring, wishing he was there beside her.  At least she had Miki though.  The girl was a god send.

"Thank you, Miki," she whispered before stepping up to the dais.  She cleared her throat to get everyone's attention.  "I'm sure you're all wondering why you've been called here together.  Well," She clicked the button in her hand to bring up the map of the Forerunner's home.  "This is where the Forerunners come from.  We have decided to take the fight to them," she started.  "And for that we will need everyone's help.  As you can see we have a few parts marked off.  One is the palace itself while the other is the shipyards and Parliament."

Michelle gave them all a chance to study the screen in front of them.  It was going to be a lot to take in.  "Now, we're planning on sending two teams and two ships.  Commander Renner will be piloting the first and Captain Coffer and his team will be accompanying her.  Their mission will be to kidnap someone who is close to the Royal family.  Preferably with the least amount of bloodshed possible." She glanced at the team she had just spoken about.  "The second ship with be piloted by Flight Lieutenant Hatfield with Commandant Berge as co pilot.  Captain Lawler and her team will make up team two.  Their objective is to lock up all the politicians and lock the place down.  We're going to do our best to force their hand.  Josile will also be accompanying team two.  Now is there any questions?"

 It wasn't hard to overhear the conversation if you strained your ears really well, something the young woman had great practice in doing from experience. That specific experience was dealing with boys back home, always whispering things about the girls no matter whether it was school, on the streets or indeed as older kids off in their new lives and careers, things just never changed like that. Forcefully she stopped herself from giggling like the 16 year old Bobbie might have done, foregoing that simply by given Denis a polite smile. Then the new girl interrupted her next plan, a French woman naturally from both her accent and the little tri-color on her shoulder. "Bugger." She thought, noticing the lady was also a Commandant, or Major most everywhere else of the Armée de l'Air. "Cool." She thought again, maybe she can get some intel on the Rafale and compare notes, she was always of the personal opinion they should have been in the RAAF's inventory. After all she had a love affair with Mirage products after being selected for the Air Force's historical flight out of Point Cook for a year on the Air show circuit. That Mirage IIIO she simply adored despite its age. "You know Kim, that Russian guy is awfully cute to doncha think?" Giving her bestie a huge hint as she settled into her seat, arranging the notepad and pens provided for them in front of her.

 At the appropriate time Miki waited until Michelle was finished, then added her part. "The essential plan is to do two things, primarily to force the Forerunners to the negotiating table and secondly to stall any further plans for them to send additional forces our way." She herself touched her own remote, zooming in on the dockyards. "As you can see there are two newer ships there, one appears to be completed, the second in dry dock." These were far more advanced than what had been sent earlier, more closely resembling the later battle ships that earth was building somewhere around the early 1930's. "At best guess our analysis is they near to 18" guns, it doesn't need to be having rocket science to understand the impact of that. Post World war one, 18" guns had a range of around 25 miles depending on the charge and for these people we have yet to determine what type of propellant they are using."

 By this time Josile had made her way down, seated yet not looking all that comfortable from the outset. She was worried and for good reason to. For as she was making her way to the briefing room, one of her aides informed her of a large Forerunner force heading east towards the mountains, possibly hoping to circumvent the blockade.

 Bobbie raised her hand to ask a question. "Colonel Ma'am, once we drop of the troops are we to just loiter about or are those points of interest marked as targets?"

<Dr. Stanislaw Grecko>
<Specialist Astrid Lofquist>

"Ah, another question." Brian said, raising a pen. He skipped the mispronunciation of his name for the moment, "Do we have even partial IDs on anyone that would be an HVT? Or anything that would identify them as a member of the royal family?"

"An addendum to that as well, do we have any intelligence on their palace guards? I know we can expect them to have the typical government secret service types close by, but I know from personal experience that the guards might either be regular troops in elaborate attire or rigorously trained professionals." Astrid added. Brian glanced at her.

"My first posting was to the Life Guards Regiment when I was conscripted. I spent plenty of time guarding Stockholm Palace." She answered the unasked question with a smile.

"Lieutenant. The idea is, hopefully, once both teams are on the ground, that the air units begin a shock and awe strike on any ground targets of opportunity. However, I want to stress that we must employ precision and minimize civilian casualties to as absolutely close to zero as possible." Aurore said, "This attack is intended to shake up the Forerunner leadership and get them to the negotiation table. Currently, their Royals believe they have divine right, and their people believe themselves free from harm. We are bringing the war to their doorstep to make them realize they are not, and that it is better for us all if they stop now before a fate worse than this befalls us."

Kim glanced over again before nodding. "He is, but I think we better discuss this later," she whispered back as they found their seats.  Although she wouldn't mind getting to know him.  She took her seat, listening as things were explained.  It seemed a bit tricky, but she had no doubt the others had already thought about that.

Teya bounced her foot a bit as she listened.  So far everyone had asked what she had been thinking.  They would need to use caution, but it sounded like a well thought out plan so far.  It was time to stop playing cat and mouse and take the game to the Forerunners.

Michelle was grateful to have Miki and Aurore by her side.  They seemed to catch the few places she had forgotten to touch on.  Although Captain Coffin made a good point.  "We have a bit of an idea captain.  We were able to get the Hermes to drop a few drones that were able to get us some images.  We got a few shots o the Forerunners." She clicked an image onto the screen. 'As you can see they resemble the Borg we are familiar with here, but they seem bigger and almost more human like." Just looking at the pictures made her shiver.

She left the pictures up as she continued.  "It also seems the royals are dressed a bit primitive.  I am not sure why, but don't let your guard down for a moment.  They may dress that way, but it appears the rest of the army, including the royal guard are very well trained and even include some humans in there as well."

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

"Roger that, ma'am." Brian replied, and pulled out the notepad from his shoulder pocket, flipping through it to scribble down a few notes. He was already going to have to go over some ideas on equipment with his teammates. It wasn't often that he had access to input and experience from operators from all over Europe, and he intended to make use of that knowledge and experience to make this operation work well.

"We had to dress in 1886-era attire when posted to Stockholm Palace, so I fully understand not taking them at face value..." Astrid commented. Truth be told, those uniforms never were her favorite, always taking forever to get ready and then they clashed with the Ak5 she had to carry. The Ak4s with the wood furniture were better, but only the ceremonial Mausers were the most suited but least issued. Of course, that was all aesthetics, she actually thought the Swedish-copy of the Belgian FNC was an excellent combat rifle and more the pity that it wasn't in general use off-world...

"We know that the majority of you in this room have faced the Forerunners in combat. But this time, things are different. We have surprise and shock, but they have home field advantages. This operation is of the utmost importance, but it will not be completed with needless losses, nor will we conduct it with disregard of our rules of engagement." Aurore paused for effect, "We are here as guests, this operation is being executed at the approval of the Cavaleiros, and you will conduct yourselves to the highest level befitting of this Program and your prior units. Though I have faith that you will not do so otherwise, the gravity of this situation is severe enough that it must be stated."

 "Yeah much later." Bobbie had to strain herself from laughing at the situation, she managed well there at least. But now for her this was the real deal, a fair dinkum tactical mission was on the cards, she was excited just to be a part of it. "I have one last question, when we were parking our 401 Kim and I saw quite a lot of iron, 200 kg HE bombs to be exact, are they our ordnance of the day?" She asked because that was something she excelled in back home with training and on the various exercises she'd taken part in. But she'd never dropped a bomb in anger, since being with the Program it had been all lasers and fancy stuff. "Wow!" She said when Michelle showed the images. "Man that guy must weigh at least 150 kilos or more!"

 "I have no doubt your people will keep to our conditions of war Major, on this particular score I will add we have extended you all a rather wide 'safety clause' which I am sure you will make good use of." The only thing left to do was leave, now all the formalities were done.

"If there's nothing else, we can sort the finer details among our respective combat elements. We can sort out the -401s with the aircrew, ground teams should go and get geared up. Meet at the hangar in 30 minutes." Aurore said.

"Alright, then. Let's go get ready." Brian said, tucking his notepad back into the shoulder pocket. He led the way out of the room and to the armory.

"As for the bombs, yes. But we are having them fitted with guidance packages as well, to doubly ensure that we limit collateral damage. Similar to the American JDAM, but using telemetry from the Hermes instead of GPS, for obvious reasons." Aurore said, answering the question on the firepower.

Michelle was grateful for how quickly Aurore and Miki helped to cover her tail.  And both did it without making her feel inferior.  She would have to thank them both in private later.  Right now they had a mission to get to and hopefully stop a war.  She nodded.  "If there is no other further questions then Commandant Berge is correct, we can sort everything else out while getting the 401's ready."

Teya took a deep breath.  Well, here went nothing.  She was starting to feel like she lived in the 401's.  She hadn't had much time to stop but then again neither had anyone else and she wasn't about to complain.  Right now they had a war to stop.

Kim rolled her eyes at her friend.  Although secretly she couldn't wait to be able to talk more.  That was going to be a long, yet fun discussion.  She quickly pulled her head back into the game though as losing track of what was in front of them could mean death.

The Senior NCO's and Officers of the MCU too notes, not many. Captain Lawler had already made her decision from the pictures she had seen it was a temperate setting. Their tattered Desert Fatuige's wouldn't provide them any camouflage, and they could all do with a change of uniform as they had such a quick turn around. She thought of the saying "A change is as goo as a rest." Most of the time she thought it was stupid, but right now she was putting her faith in it. Once the briefing was more or less over she turned to the others around her.
"Brad. Tony." She said thinking quickly as the new SG-7 left. "Get a rucksack and take it to the Armour, Load up on all the five five six and magazines you can get your hands on." She said aware most had worked though their ammo over the past few fights. "We'll reload our mags and pouches on the flight out." She then turned to her two junior combat officers. "Spncer go to the quarter master and get everybody a set of Woodland cammies. Ramirez, make sure you go with him, and then make sure your updated with all the radio protocols we are going to be using." Finally she turned to Iles.
"Jane. I want you to take your medical unit and go get all the supplies you can, we'll be in the enemy strong hold, so make sure you have enough for anything that comes up." She took a moment before glancing at her watch. "Okay everybody meet back here in twenty minuets." She added. Before she even got a chance to stand her team was moving to action.
