Title: PG8-K59 Alpha Site Gate Room Lvl 17
Post by: Ellen_Ripley on July 23, 2013, 04:36:53 PM
Similar in many ways to Earth gate room, the principal difference being the control room is on the same level at the back of a 8 meter wide by 24 meters deep, set on a concrete platform 1 meter high. The control room is essentially built like a bunker with double armored glazing on the view window.

Access to the gate room is via blast doors east and west, large enough to allow a Humvee sized vehicle through and there is one other smaller normal sized secured door in the back of the control room.

((OOC neither do I Mum, so I'll wing it as usual))

The gate room of the Alpha site was similar in all respects to the SGC's except that the control room was on the same level, being a sealed and bomb protected room with a five inch armoured glass window in front. It was situated at the back of the Gate room, facing the Stargate and access was from a rear door that could only be gained via a passage behind the six foot thick reinforced wall separating the Gate room from the main passageways. The gate room itself was accessed via two doors either side in the same way as the SGC. US Navy Petty Officer Satish Pratesh is the regular duty gate technician.

Jordan made her way down to the control room via the elevators, leading Richie as she walked swiftly on her long legs. The Alpha Site was quiet as most staff were either having meals or winding down for the day and only the duty security teams would be seen about. She entered the control room, Satish had obviously ducked out as his coffee was still warm.

"Take a seat Richie, I'll have the SGC up in a few minutes." She sat herself down and began the dialing sequence from an identical computer terminal to that of the SGC. The DHD having been dispensed with due to security. Jordan placed her hand on the bio scanner and started the automatic dialing to the SGC. The Chevrons lit up one by one and in a very short time the puddle 'kawooshed' and she was connected.

"SGC, this is Commander Jordan O'Neil from the Alpha Site. I need to speak with Admiral Davidson please."

While Jordan was waiting, another call came through her earpiece and by the sound of it, it was trouble. "Ah jeezus, belay that SGC I'll get back to you." She pipped her own radio back. "I'm on it General." She was out of the chair in a flash, then turned back to Richie. "You can stay here if you wish, perhaps you should. I have no idea where our gate technician is. But see if you can raise the SGC again and send that message from Linde. Also let them know we have a possible 'Borg' outbreak here."

With that she went out the way they came and headed for the muster room.

By the time Lucille and Steven had arrived, the gate as fortune would have it, was still open and that in itself was somewhat telling. Was it meant to be, or mere coincidence? Lucille didn't care one iota, she didn't believe in that dribble anyway; things just happen, there was no other way to describe it, fate is what you make it, she always believed. She looked back up at the control room, Satish was there and she merely nodded to him, then tapped her radio. "SGC this is General Lucille Chalmers, I am coming through, General Caldwell is with me."

Steven and Linde emerged from the gate. "We'll be there shortly, Jordan," he said through his wrist com. "Please make sure that everyone has a sidearm, rifle, a light backpack with extra ammo and a few provisions, and make sure they have several pair of socks. Wet feet can put a person out of action pretty quick. Plus one of the light one-person tents and sleeping bags, since we'll be spending a all our time in the open. Some of them may not have much experience camping out." He turned to the Gate Room tech. "Call upstairs and have a Humvee ready for us when we get up there."

Cheryl came bounding through the gate, almost as if she were running, but not quite. She pulled up sharply the moment she reached the end of the ramp. "Satish, I'll be out on the field if anyone needs me." She told him, then immediately left via the side exit, then one of the long tunnels that would bring her up, just near the landing site.

Pratesh had been watching the events in real time, but he had no way of knowing who was who on the tactical display. Only their own people with the subcutaneous transmitter showed up as blue dots. But as soon as he heard Jordan's call, he could see clearly what was going to happen. Without even replying, he called the Saggitta immediately. "Saggitta this is Alpha Site control. Cease fire on that position immediately. I repeat cease fire. Josile has her people in that valley."

<Control Room>

Normally Maria would do a walk such as this in five to ten minutes, this time it took her almost twenty five, having to stop every now and then to speak to personnel of the base who wished her well. That was one thing that she loved about being a part of the Stargate programme, since Jack O'Niell's tenure as CO of the SGC, a culture of family had become the norm.

"Petty Officer, could you dial Earth for me please, I've been cleared and released for return." Maria said to Satish as she caught his eye on entering the control room.

{Petty Officer Satish Pratesh USN} NPC

"Yes ma'am. I received the message about twenty minutes ago." He began the dialing procedure and once the final chevron was in place, he radioed through. "SGC, this is Alpha Site Control, requesting permission for Lieutenant Colonel Arguayo to return." He turned and looked at her. "Colonel, you okay to punch in your IDC?"

"Of course I am." She wasn't, but Maria wouldn't let him know. Awkwardly, with one hand she tapped in her ID on the keyboard.

The two of them waited, and waited. But it didn't take to long.

"You're clear Colonel, you may proceed."

That was all Maria needed, and since she had no bags, she thanked Pratish kindly and left. Moments later she walked through the Star Gate.

All of a sudden, the gate began spinning, sending the base scrambling from an unscheduled activation. Sadly, they didn't have an iris like the Earth gate, but security personnel scrambled, just in time to receive the smattering of plasma weapons fire that flew through the gate to impact randomly. The guards were ready, weapons leveled at the gate as they waited for what threat was to come.

Lucille was still waiting for Jordan to show, yet she knew it would be some time given the distance and time they had spent getting to where they had been. She made her way to the gate room, with the intention to call Sean and make her report. The very instant she arrived, the alarms started signalling a dial in. "Close the iris!" She ordered, as her foot hit the door step. "What do we have Pratesh?"

{Petty Officer Satish Pratesh USN} NPC

"Nothing as yet ma'am. Some weapons fire, but no call." He replied.

"Very well, we'll wait." Lucille stood there with her arms folded. If it was one of their own, a call would come soon enough. Unless of course they were without a radio. That would be bad for them.

Static came through the gate and onto the computer.  One simple word was all that was about to get through at the time.  Flynn  Just hopefully it was in time for the young woman or else the iris would finish what the Borg hadn't.

Satish and Lucille both saw it at the same time. Although the General didn't know Flynn personally, she did know her by reputation and that only someone of her abilities would figure something out if they were without the essential tools to get by otherwise. "Open the Iris PO!" She told him, then on the PA she instructed the gate room guards. "Be on guard, this may be a deception."

Satish opened the Iris, there was no way though he thought to let them know, other than try and resend to the source, so he typed in simply "Clear."

Flynn was flung through the gate from the force of the blast that had shattered her leg.  She rolled down the ramp, groaning in pain.  Her clothes were tattered and she looked like death itself.  Flynn was barely coherent.  All she knew was she had gotten through the gate.  She was safe.  "Help," she mumbled, starting to push herself up.  Her injured arm and leg wouldn't hold her weight though and she collapsed back onto the ramp in a heap.  Her life saving computer slipped out of her hand as she fell.

"Medical team to the gate room STAT!" Satish yelled into the PA. It was Flynn alright, he didn't know her well, but he knew that face. He hit the button hard to close the Iris and was on his feet and out the door, after a polite ma'am, to Lucille.

Outside, he was at the scientist's side in an instant, kneeling, he quickly felt her pulse. She was weak. "Hang in there ma'am help is on the way."

Time was of the essence in situations like this and with that time it would take the Medical team to reach the gate room, could mean life or death for the young scientist. Lucille picked up the microphone. "Petty Officer, don't wait. Grab two marines and a litter from the passageway and take her directly to the infirmary. With luck you'll meet the medical team on the way."

Flynn barely reacted to the new voice.  She was almost too far gone to care about anything at the moment.  She just wanted away from the pain.  She shivered slightly though when he checked her pulse.  "So cold," she mumbled through chattering teeth.  she was going into shock and they would lose her if they didn't act quickly.

With the General in the control room and Satish being ordered to basically do his duty. The fun part, if ever there was a fun part in circumstances like these, is that he had the opportunity to order some Marines about. "Right ma'am. You two, grab a litter from the passage way." He bent again to Flynn, taking off his jacket and putting it over her. "I'm here Flynn." He reassured her.

"Yes sir." The Marines replied. They sirred just about everyone who was senior to them. In a few minutes, they were back with one of the fold up litters that were stored in racks at various places along the walls. They laid it beside Flynn, the three of them now supporting her.

"This might hurt ma'am." Satish told her. "On 3, 1, 2.." They slid her onto the litter. The two big men lifted her easily.

Flynn's teeth were chattering badly as she curled up the best she could with a messed up leg.  She was losing her fight with consciousness fast and that wasn't good.  She managed a weak smile as Satish put his coat over her.  "Do it," she mumbled.  She was in so much pain as it was that surely a little more wouldn't make a difference.  She bit her lip though when they lifted her up, a soft groan of pain escaping her lips.

Feeling a little more at ease now that Flynn was being taken care of, Lucille began the dialing procedure to Earth. Once the seventh Chevron was locked, she began her radio transmission.

"SGC, this is General Lucille Chalmers from the Alpha Site. At approximately 2217 hours your time, the Saggitta's Science Officer Flynn Hart gated through to our station. I've not yet spoken to her, she has substantial injuries. As we speak, she is being transferred to our medical facility. More information as it comes to hand. Chalmers out."

For a big girl, Rachel was quite fit. She actually jogged all the way to the control room, she could have just radioed. The thing was she loved being here, she had this fascination with all things old, especially tunnels and the underground. The Alpha Site base was built over and on a much older facility. Some say it was Ancient, built by the Lantean's ages ago. You could only agree with that. There were many similarities to Atlantis. She knocked quietly on the door.

"General Chalmers. Flynn is awake, she's in post op and would like to speak with you please."

Satish and the Marines had returned, the young man busily setting up a new system of monitors in the room behind her; Lucille for her part was thinking of taking a horse out and seeing exactly where Jordan and her party were. She would though give them another few hours to return. Standing, then stretching her aching muscles, the base commander thought a good long draft of coffee would do her the world of good, when a pleasant face, with that ever present smile appeared. You couldn't help but like the girl, she'd even been known to make a Borg laugh once or twice. "Of course Lieutenant, I'll go now. How is she doing by the way?" Lucille asked, leading the way. It would take them a whole five minutes or slightly more.

After it was all said and done, other than losing Flynn and Maria being wounded, one Marine lost in combat, Jordan was grateful the butchers bill wasn't that much to pay. It could have gone worse and the fact that she was back on her feet after only being back twenty four hours said a lot for the toughness of women. Now, to get some peace, she had relieved the gate room technician, it was generally the quietest section of the base. Usually.

The gate burst into life, in that instant, Jordan closed the iris and waited. Soon she heard a familiar voice.

{CMS Walter Harriman} NPC

"Alpha Site, this is Chief Master Sergeant Walter Harriman. We have one Lieutenant Jonathon Agathon US Marines coming to you. Stand by."

"Acknowledged Walter, send him through and thank you." After replying, she pulled up the data base to see if there was anything on the guy and sure enough, it had been logged he was expected. She pulled down his file and waited.

As the gate continued to shimmer on the Alpha Site, Jon's body rematerialized as he forgot to stop moving. He stumbled as he tripped over his own foot but steadied himself. He looked ahead as he turned around when the gate shimmered off. He muttered with awe looking around, "So, this is an alien place. Doesn't make much difference."

Hearing a noise, he quickly turned to the pretty woman in uniform before him. "Hey..." he muttered for a moment a bit lost in his childlike wonder.

Letting out a gasp as the euphoria feel of the Stargate quickly wore out and he immediately remembered what he was so he quickly saluted clicking his heels, "Oh, excuse me Commander. Forgive me. Lieutenant Jon Agathon."

Oh bloody hell, of course she knows my name already you dimwit Jon cursed silently thinking to himself.

As soon as the iris was down, Jordan left the control, went down the almost identical stairs to the SGC and into the almost identical gate room and waited, hands behind her back. She watched silently as the young man appeared, when he finally did she smiled. He was typically Marine, broad shouldered and had good strong features to his face; for the short time he was to be here, they should get on well. She extended her hand to him.

"Commander Jordan O'Neil US Navy SEALS and please, don't say a word about my past, I'm assuming you know that already." Yes, the whole damned world knew it now, as a Lieutenant, she was more or less forced to go through the SEALS program to placate some political wills, hoping beyond hope she would fail. She didn't. "Welcome to the Alpha Site. Although it does look like the SGC, there are some differences." She held out her hand, indicating the side blast door.

"Through that, the rest of the facility is essentially an old Ancient outpost, although you wouldn't recognise much of it. This room you are standing in, is fifteen levels below the surface. Up there." She jerked her thumb upwards, "...is a whole new world we share with people known as the El Cavaleiros. Horsemen, although that is a little misnomer, they are ruled by women."

Since the Alpha site was his first planet he ever touched down on, he was hoping she would taking her around for a little tour before he moves onto the Pegasus. There was a lot for him to take in and he was still fascinated. He continued to follow her.

A small remote was in Jordan's hand, she clicked on that and silently the blast door opened, she took the lead and spoke as she walked. "Your file told me you are to be here for as short a stay as possible, you are needed on Atlantis rather urgently." Why she didn't want to know. "As you would have been briefed, you are to be qualified on the AC401 and since I have gained my instructor rating only recently, you Lieutenant will be my first pupil. Scared?" She asked. Walking further, through the door and down the long dimly lit tunnel. "Your training will begin today. Any questions?"

She had stopped at one of the transporters, rather than the Earth built elevators. The door opened and she stepped in.

The young dark skinned Petty Officer saw his XO leaving, finished his coffee with a gulp and ran to the control room on the double. He really only had twenty feet to cross, as he had only stepped out to the cafe' bar. For a little while all was quiet, he listened to the radio chatter and was content with that. After a short while and once the 401 was heading for the training area, he pulled up his emails. That wasn't to last. The warning alarm sounded loudly, he tracked the target and saw that Jordan's 401 was on station. "Thank god for that." He said, then hit the base alarm. That to, was relayed to the town and the SGC would have been alerted by his XO as a matter of action.

The gate opened up, just as Lucille arrived, she had a hunch protocol 117 had been enacted and Walter's automatic signal confirmed that for her; the bleeping warning on the computer screen told her as much. "Captains Collins and Turcotte reporting for duty, Ma'am." She introduces them then murmurs "Brigadier General Lucille Chalmers; Alpha Site CO." She wasn't sure how much of the files Alasen had gotten through and did not want her to make a mistake on her first important mission.

"I don't have time girls for formalities as you can understand, but your arrival is most welcome." She stood from her stool, almost knocking it over. "Petty Officer, lock the gate down. Under no circumstances open it unless you have the priority codes."

"Yes ma'am."

"Captains, follow me please." Lucille instructed them, taking the two  back out and through the side blast door.

<From her room>

{Commander Teya Renner}

Teya had been enjoying a few moments to herself before heading into town when all heck broke loose.  She groaned, pulled on her boots and ran toward the gateroom, not sure just what they were in for this time.  She had grown accustomed to certain things like this, but it didn't mean she had to like it.  Her long hair fell into her eyes as she ran.  She awkwardly worked on pulling it up as she went.

Teya slid to a stop when she caught sight of Lucille.  "Ma'am?" she asked, hurrying up to her. She didn't recognize the other two, but any help was welcome.

Ryse continued her sentence as though nothing had just happened as they stepped onto another ramp. Turk inhaled, noticing immediately the change in the air; a slight temperature difference, a lot of the same smells, but something... different.

"New is good," she grins at her peer, following her path to the control room. "Always up for a challenge, especially when it involves something airborne." Noting immediately the rank of the woman seated there, Turk made a mental note. 'So this mus be Chalmers. Good to know.'  She glanced at Ryse as they approached and rather than snapping to full attention, struck a relaxed at-ease as the captain announced their arrival and the general got up from her stool.

"Yes ma'am," she nodded in response as Chalmers led them toward another set of doors. They were joined shortly by another woman with Navy insignia and Commander rank and a nameplate that read "Renner". She didn't introduce herself, but Alasen nodded at her as they continued to follow the general through the doors.

Not wasting time with chit-chat, Ryse falls into step with Alasen as they follow the General to the hangar bay. She's about to ask the CO for an update when a Navy Commander joins them, so she falls silent, simply nodding to the woman as they walk.

Finally after being out of Lucille's grasp, Rachel could be her pleasant self again. With a reminder not to hold any grudges against Ryse, after all, she herself had been just as much to blame for the original bitchslapping moment both of them got into. Ryse was a decent woman and at some point they should be on good terms.

"Dial the SGC for me please Noah. Once you're online with Walter, tell him I need to speak with Doctor Svensson please" Rachel liked Noah, he was one of the more easiest guys to deal with. Another time and place and she could have made a point to get to know him better.

Noah looked up at Rachel from his seat and nodded with a response, "No problem, Rach."

He began to dial the SGC muttering as each sequences locked in place with the Alpha Site Gate active. The bubbling effect of the ancient device rippled as the blue glittered off the walls of the room. He spoke through the radio, "This is the Alpha Site to the SGC, please respond. Lieutenant McAdams would like to speak with Doctor Svensson."

He let the radio hang for a bit as he awaited their response.

NPC - Walter Harriman (with permission from RR)

“Alpha site, This is the SGC. I’ll call her immediately. Stand by.”

About five minutes later the voice of the SGC’s CMO came out from the loud speaker.

“Carrie Svensson here. What’s up Rachel?”

"Thanks Noah, you're too good you know that?" She made smiling easy work, with her dimples and wide cheeks it was an easy thing to do.

The one thing Rachel had going against her though, was that she was always nervous when speaking over the radio, she had to compose herself to an almost rigid like state, focusing on every word she said. "Carrie, its good to hear your voice again. This'll be quick, and yes I know I have to give you our weekly report, but that can wait." She began counting, a calming method Annie taught her. "We have this young guy here, he's in pretty bad shape. Jim has done all he can for him, but he needs your help. As usual, Gordan has either fallen in a drunken stupor, or he's off base."

Fortunately for Carrie, Rachel had the file in front of her as well she fairly much remembered it all anyway. "Burns are the worst, both third and second degree. Multiple contusions and some broken ribs, most of them in fact Carrie. Jim's a little anxious over it as you could understand. How about five minutes?" She knew that would be about how long it would take to shut the gate down and redial from the SGC.

The gate shimmered a luminescent light and blue for a bit before it shut down. Noah turned to Rachel and responded to her question, "Nope, sorry. I don't have my wallet with me."

The gate on the other end activated as the Alpha Site Stargate started moving its chevrons. Noah concentrated his attention back to the computer as he shouted, "Incoming wormhole. It's the SGC. The doctor's on her way.

The iris remained deactivated as the Stargate was active once again expecting a traveler.

Now she was disappointed, but of course she knew Carrie would be here quicker than you could say Jack Flash. "Oh..." The gate had opened before she could see this through any further. "Damn Noah, I could have been a dollar up today."

Rachel jumped out of her chair, running at the double out to the gate room. Hands behind her back, she waited at the foot of the ramp smiling.

A slightly stumbling step. A big shivering breath, and Carrie came through the gate. The experts said that the cold would diminish with the number of gate travels one did… She had some serious doubts though…
Rubbing her upper arms in an attempt to get rid of the chill, she made eye contact with Rachel, giving her a weak smile, “Hey. Looks like it worked this time too,” and then as quickly as she could, began her descent down the ramp.
Another chill run down her spine, making her shudder, “Alright. Let’s get to work. Where is he?”

"I believe its called a 'frozen moment Carrie." Sometimes Rachel's observations were a touch towards the obvious, this was one of those moments when she could happily say her boss had re-joined the frosticle club. Fortunately for the good doctor, she'd warm up quickly, the alpha site base interior being a balmy 23 degrees celsius.

"Triage, we've had him for about thirty minutes or so. I think he is repairable, although his morale might take a deep plummet when he realises he's not where he thought he should be Carrie." She wasn't sure if Doctor Svensson knew all there was about alternate realities, if not she was about to get a very quick 101 on the subject. Rachel led the way with her usual hurry up gait.

He turned the button again to receive her radio. Soon, after his apparent small break of getting a drink of water, Noah hoped that he would see his sister soon. The captain of course would probably bring along Aria, so when the time comes he will come see her or that she will see him. Whenever or whatever is convenient.

When the radio ended, Noah let out a sigh. What am I? A radio? Oh right, never mind... he thought to himself shaking his head with a slight amusement.

Rolling his eyes, cleared his throat and turned the radio again toward the Dreadnaught speaking in a clear voice, "Captain. The General asks if you would like cake and party hats as well?"

He closed his eyes and prayed silently while covering the comm so that she doesn't hear him, Please...please, please let that be the end of communication...

The other techs were looking at him oddly but Noah shrugged and awaited the Captain of the Dreadnaught's reply...

Tentatively Jordan leaned into the microphone, this was always a nervous moment for her, speaking across the galaxy through an alien device. It kind of gave her the creeps in a way, it didn't seem natural to her, but it was something she was getting used to.

"Chief Harriman, this is Commander Jordan O'Neil. We have a patient ready for emergency transit, Doctor Svensson requests a specialist burns unit and Doctor Andrew Fleming to be on hand asap."

"Copy that ma'am consider it done." **** "They'll be here by the time you arrive."

It was uncanny how fast it was, Jordan always thought there should be some kind of time delay. If there was, it wasn't apparent. "Thank you Chief, I'll notify Doctor Svensson. We will leave the gate open for now."

"You're welcome Commander, I'm putting in the call now. Harriman out."

"Right that's done. Now I need to call Doctor Svensson back Noah" Time was of the essence here. The man was critical and every minute counted. Jordan picked up the PA direct to Medbay. "Doctor Svensson, the SGC will have the personnel you requested in the SGC gate room by the time you arrive. We're keeping the gate open for now.....you have 32 minutes remaining."

"You had best get to the gate Noah and make sure the transition goes smoothly. They might need a hand pushing the gurney up the ramp." Jordan knew physics well, as light as a gurney was, the moment you put it on an incline, the force required multiplied by a factor of three. "I'll watch the control room for you." As promised, a few minutes after the call in the PA system, the gurney with Takeda and the medical staff appeared in the Gate room.
Carrie stopped the team with the gurney at the end of the ramp, turned towards the control room and raised her voice a bit, “Still got the SGC in the other end?”

Noah nodded at Jordon's command as he turned to exit the control room. He met Svensson halfway into the gateroom and helped her push the gurney toward the shimmering gate. He stood by looking down at Takeda to see him resting from being doped up by the drugs. He could swear that he saw him somewhere. Like he should be dead.

Shaking his head to ward off any other thoughts, he looked up through the window at the control room where Jordan was overlooking the computer.

<Control Room>

"You have a go Doctor Svensson, still 27 minutes left on the gate." That was one of the weird things Jordan had learned since being here; she never really had a formal introduction to gate travel other than when she first came to the alpha site in charge of mining security. But since then she had learned as much as anyone could about the whole Stargate program and now she was ready to move on. Still, the time limit the gate was open seemed curious.

<Gate Room>

For some incomprehensible reason Rachel started shaking, her hands gripped the gurney so tightly, she went as rigid as the metal itself. Very softly she whispered. "I...I haven't been home now for three years. You know why Carrie?" She let go with one hand, lifted it to point at the event horizon. "That thing scares the hell out of me."

“Thank you,” Carrie waved towards the control room and then grabbed a hold of the foot end of gurney and started to push it up the ramp.
The extra hand from the gate tech was welcome and she gave him a nod and a quiet “Thanks!” as the extra muscle power made it move forward with a little more ease.

She looked at Rachel with a surprised frown, “Really?! Wow, that’s… that’s a long time.” The CMO let go of the gurney with one of her hands and gave Rachel’s arm a light squeeze as she whispered back, “I hate it too. Always amazed that I still got everything in the right places when I’m through it, but that fear is not going to stop me from doing my job.”
Carrie made a motion with her head towards the control room, “And we can’t let those super military types like Jordan make fun of the medical staff here, so just remember your breathing, in and out and then step through, ok?”
In an attempt to give the woman next to her a bit more courage and support, she placed Rachel’s hand next to her own on the gurney, subtly squeezing it as they approached the event horizon.

"I really appreciate that Carrie. Now you know why my reports have always been on the other side of a camera and not in person. I guess we can change that now can't we?" Deep breath, in and out the relax. She looked back at Jordan and squinted, whispering to Carrie "She's as scared of gate travel as I am or worse." That made her giggle a little more than she should have. "One, two..."

Jordan watched them go, a little sad really as she would have loved to know more about that man. Too late now, she'll probably never know if her transfer has come through. "Copy that ma'am. Sending coordinates now." She twisted the little knob on the desk to resend to the Dreadnought. "Dreadnought, Alpha Site. General Chalmers wishes you all to assemble in the chapel. I'll meet you there. O'Neil out."

Now she was on the gate room PA. "Noah, I'm going to the Chapel, you'd best get back in here." As she spoke the gate shut down with a tap of her finger.

Jordan had barely moved after shutting down the gate when it spun into life again, she looked at the incoming address and saw it was the SGC. A second later Walter's voice was heard over the radio. Noah was glad to be back in his technitian seat but Jordon seemed to be handling everything that a tech should do. Well, somewhat, but anyways Noah kept his attention on the screen to continue monitor travelers as he announced nonchalantly again into the mic, "Travelers incoming. Stand by to receive."

He ignored what could be a stare at the back of his head as he continued keeping his eyes glued to the screen.

Noah nodded as Jordon left his side, missing his side comment just barely as he muttered, "I hate cupcakes..."

He looked up soon as Daniel exited the gate along with the small party of Sarah and Talyeena. Daniel looked up and waved a bit as he quickly took a left and stayed rooted in one place for a second looking a little bit lost. Seeing that the Admiral's wife knew what she was doing, Daniel followed her.

Sarah smiled at Noah before heading to the right room.  She knew she couldn't go much further but at least she could help her friends to a point.  Taleeya followed behind.  It seemed like she was just jumping all over the place today.  she just hoped things would start to settle down though.

The moment when Noah got the message, he turned the comm and spoke through it, "Doctor Jackson. Tayleena. Hold on. You are being recalled back to the SGC."

Daniel was almost halfway to the door from the gate when there was a message from above about them being recalled. He looked at the control room with a puzzled look as he asked, "Whats going on?"

He stood by as he looked around the room and to Taylenna by his side. What he wanted to do was to get the missing going.

Noah shrugged as he responded while shutting down the gate and trying to redial, ""I dont know."

Sarah frowned a bit.  "Something doesn't feel right here.  Dial us back home, Petty Officer, please."  If Sean was recalling them then there was a good reason.  She didn't know what, but it certainly didn't sound good.

The gate started dialing up again as Noah was pushing buttons to re connect to the SGC. After the final chevron engaged, Noah spoke into the radio, "Alpha Site to the SGC, prepare to receive both Daniel Jackson and Talyeena and Colonel Davidson"

Daniel stood by the gate as it whooshed open again. He lost count how many times he's been traveling, but its probably his millionth time so far. He gulped in his throat and let out a sigh as he shifted his feet a bit while waiting on the technician to give him a go ahead signal to go through.

Daniel nodded at Noah and walked directly for the gate with both  and Talyeena in tow. If the summit failed, then there should be something else he could do. Maybe he could take up Maria for the search of someone that she was hoping to hear from soon. If that was possible.

Sarah didn't comment on the fact that Noah called her by her name.  Yes, she should have, but right now she didn't care.  She just wanted to get back and see what had gone wrong.  Something seemed fishy and she was worried.  She followed Daniel to the Gate, wanting to talk to Sean.

As he finished wretching his lunch up onto the ramp he would slowly look up at the Lieutenant as he raised himself to his feet and nodded his head.  "That was a wild ride Ma'am"  A humorous undertone is his deep southern drawl as he smiled and wiped his face clean with a handkerchief from his pocket.   "I'm s'posed to report to Commander O'neil actually, Know where she might be?"

"It always is for me." What Kaster perhaps didn't realise was that Rachel had heard him speak earlier in the SGC med bay, she got it, got it quite well in fact that here yet was another southerner, that made two of them at least now on the Alpha site. She wouldn't feel so alone after all, that is if he could relate to pig farming. "Ya'll follow me Sergeant and I'm more n' sure we can find her. Normally around this time she'd be in her office, but since we've had this new ship arrive we may have to search for her. Or unless Noah knows." Pushing the door open and carefully back stepping thru the entrance the the gate room he would call out.  "Noah you still in here bud i brought you some Mac'n'Cheese!"  Making his way up the stairs, making sure to pick up the granola bar he had left earlier and placing it on the tray, He entered the control center and set Noah's tray down.  "Heard ya say you was hungry"  He stated hoping his formality had not offended the young man or his rank.

Having finished his own food he would take his trsy and exit, leaving Noah's tray for him before making his way back to the commisary.

Of course he was already out of earshot when Kaster left without letting him saying anything. Noah muttered again placing the bowl aside, "I was just joking. I would rather eat at a commisionary or anywhere than here."

He was still on the clock. He wouldn't eat while on the clock. Still, Kaster did all that for him, so Noah might as well enjoy it. The only thing he's missing is water. Or that coffee. Taking the granola bar, he took a huge bite out of it.

Aria quickly entered the gateroom and walked up the steps to see Noah. Noah looked up with a smile when he was halfway through his mac and cheese and was about to respond, but Aria interupted her brother, "Noah, call up the SGC."

Noah closed his mouth and responded as he cleared his throat, "Nice to see you too, sis. Long time no see."

Aria let out a sigh and responded as she nodded, "Yeah, good to see you, too. Now dial it up. No time to chat."

"Right." Noah muttered as he started dialing up the gate again.

Walter was starting to become his favorite technician to talk to. It was like talking to his grandfather without that heavy Aussie accent. Just easy to talk to without all that rude judgmental signs that he gets from other people. Aria walked up next to her brother and placed her hand on the tip of his chair. She continued to watch the gate move along without effort. Soon as it was activated within Noah's acknowledgement, Aria grabbed the mic without hesitation and spoke, "Sergeant, message from Captain Mcfearson. The Dreadnaught needs some repair. Noah just sat there and watched his sister take charge. He looked down to notice his half eaten granola bar. It was barely a half. More like 3 of a quarter. He only took like two bites of it. Taking it, he decided to offer his food to her, "Want my granola?"

Aria gave him a long stare as she covered the mic again. She rose her eye brow and responded in a low tone toward her brother, "Are you offering me your half eaten bar? Don't you have a second?"

He shrugged and responded plainly with a whisper, "It isnt mine. A friend offered it to me, but you know. I never really like granola bars. They tend to be too dry for me and I don't like the taste of this one. It'd be a shame to waste it. Right?"

Aria smirked and took the bar as she ruffled his hair roughly making him cringe. She replied teasingly as she took a bite out of it, "You are such a dork, little bro."

Noah cringed again as he protested in a low tone again, "Hey, watch the name calling..."

Aria let out a slight, soft giggle as she smiled at him giving him a short, small peck between his forehead with her lips.

Col George Sanderson NPC Radio

Fred entered the Gate room. He headed up to them slinging his rifle on his back.
"Apparantly I have a call?" He asked clapping his hands together.
As he spoke his mic picked it up. He had plugged in the head set piece which had an automatic vocal pick up. He hated but had been forced to wear with the hazmat suit.

Quote
"Fred. Bad news mate."
Fred glanced to the two other people in the control room and nodded a little before pulling the hedset on so the conversation would be more private.
"What is it Colonel?" he asked. there was an audible sigh from the colonels end
Quote
"You and and Staff Sergeant Carter are being recalled."

Fred frowned as he tapped the ear piece.
"Say again?" He asked hoping he had miss heard.
Quote
"You and Gary are being Recalled by the MOD."

Fred felt a lump in his throat. "Why?" He asked quietly. "What for?" He said standing in the corner of his room.
Quote
"The MOD Feel that you, along with Gary, Harly and Charlotte would be better suited back in the UK heading up a small unit with in the UKSF, more or less dedicated to all things related to the stargate."
Fred sighed.
"So we are going to live in london. come in, read reports you send us everyday and advise the MOD?" He asked quietly.
"Yeah. Its to do with the introduction of Army twenty twenty. Hopefully it wont be long but..."

"But?" Asked Fred then shook his head. "Wait, hang on are they bringing in other people to replace us as the British contingent at the SGC?"
Quote
"No. The MOD think the SGC is going down hill so are pulling out of the SGC, I'm staying her because its this or retire, and I'm not ready to retire."
"God damn it." Mumbled Fred. "Look I'm going to go tell Gary see you later." he sighed as he turned to head out the room.
Quote
"Yeah, see you later Fred."
Fred then turned off his radio and headed out to find Gary.

Noah shrugged and responded, "No need for a salute, Corporal. We are basically the same rank. Well, almost."

There was a confirmation and the gate finally shut down. As it it did, Noah continued as he moved his head sideways once, "Commander O'Neil needs to see you at the commissary. Do you require directions?"

He sat there as he waited for his response. He may have to get one of the technicians to show him the way to the commissary to ensure that he does not get lost on the way as he did once when he got here the the first time.

Being an american marine meant he was stubborn at some points. He however understood that he had never been on the Alpha site before. So he should said he needed an escort but he saw the gate room seemed more understaffed then Earth's.

Airman Briggs had been doing his security rounds when he noticed the new guy arrive, his sharp ears heard the question, so he simply answered on Noah's behalf. "Straight down there you'll find the elevator, you want sub level 12." He pointed off to his left, down the long hallway.

He headed towards the elevator ad he waved goodbye to Noah. He had a feeling he would be seeing him again sooner rather than later.

"Better to get a medal for this"  Noah muttered to himself out of mic as he cleared his throat responding to him, "Alright, no problem. I'll let her know."

Seeing that the Corporal already left the gate room, Noah hoped that he could find his way back. The directions were fairly easy to follow. Tapping the radio again, he spoke, "Hughes to Gate Room ASAP."

He repeated it again and waited for her to respond.

When the radio shut off, Noah nodded as he muttered, "Roger."

With the gate still open and running, Noah spoke into the radio once again to the SGC, She's on her way. Five minutes.

He sat there awaiting his reply AND her arrival. Noah had seen plenty of people but he never met Cate before. He heard that both Aria and Cate got into it together once in the past but now they were friends. Good friends. So any friends of Aria is his friend also. As long as they don't carry any citrus related stuff or scent. It gives him hives.

<<From Women's Locker Room>>

Being an old hand at the Alpha Site, Cate knew all the passageways like the back of her hand. Sure they made a few changes, added a new room here and there, even opened up some previously unknown areas as well. But you can't change a place all that much that had stood for thousands of years either, it was still much the same.

"Right ...Noah." She read his tag, then the screen and saw Walter's familiar face. She waved at him, but he seemed to be occupied, so she spoke for the moment only to the man she sat near. "I should have known, you're Aria's kid brother aren't you?" It was his accent and of course the last name that gave it away. "You said Sam Carter wanted me?"

"Right Noah, I'll let Colonel Carter know. I'll leave the gate open as long as I can, we still have another 30 minutes window."

That gave Cate a chance to say hello to the old guy. "Hello Walter, do you know what this is about? " She asked.

"Not exactly Cate. But I guess you'll find out soon. Standby."

"Standing by"  She looked hard at his face, trying to gauge his emotions, you can tell a lot from that.

Noah watched as Cate approached him. He offered a slight warm smile as she asked him a question that he could answer. He just nodded implying that he was Aria's kid brother. Although, he didn't like being under the title kid brother because he wasnt a kid anymore. He shrugged it off as he listened to the conversation between Walter and Cate. Walter seemed to be tired, but he understood. It's the stress of the job that can be annoying as hell. Noah can relate.

"Cate, open up Noah's computer, you're on conference. You'll be talking to Commander Sieglinde Wettin XO of the Saggitta. Colonel Carter is with her."

"You don't like being the kid do you?" Cate said using some of her insight, not to mention the expression on his face. "Don't worry, there's just five minutes difference between me and my brother and you know what? I adored being his kid sister." Hopefully that might settle his mind a little. "Do you mind?" She said, reaching across from him, hitting the enter key at Walter's prompt. She'd speak to him again a little later.

The screen opened up, Cate could indeed see Sam in the background. The other woman she only knew by name, not having met her, that she remembered at least. "Catherine Hughes, what can I help you with Commander Wettin?"

"May I call you Cate?" Linde asked. "When I was at an El'dari diplomatic function Baelor told me that I was a latent telepath. While I was there I actually began picking up telepathic transmissions between the El'dari. Plus Sunniva showed me a portrait of the mother of their race. We are identical. I am wondering that during your time as an Ascended if you may have possibly picked up any insights? I would really like to know what mind talents I may have, and if possible how to train them. And as for the other," she shrugged her shoulders, "whatever information you may have gathered would be welcome."

For a long agonising moment Cate went blank, her face would have looked to Linde to have lost all her blood. Cate's pulse began racing and a fine sweat beaded upon her brow; this was something totally out of left field but not totally unexpected either. Somehow she knew that in not too great a time after she returned, the whole ascension business would catch up to her, not to mention what the El'dari did to her; Cate still felt the sharp sting from Sunniva's words to her, what seemed to be so long ago now. Furrowing her forehead, she pinched her nose for a second

Finally she breathed out again. "Yes please, I am not even entirely sure I hold my rank as it is; things have changed Linde, many things. I would like to tell you everything I can, but for now, I think it is something we should do face to face." She paused briefly. "Is it possible for you to come here? I think that out of your own comfort zone we may well be able to test this that those El'dari have lumbered us both with."  The other thing was, it would become very embarrassing with Aria's brother sitting right next to her.

There was something strange about this, since the moment Cate began talking with Linde she felt rather weird to say the least. She even knew Sam was quite close to the other woman now, but trying to hide her presence, Cate heard as clear as summer rain, Sam whispering, to Cate she may as well have been on a microphone. One thing for certain, she had to get to the bottom of this, for the sake of both of them, or it will drive her to madness.

"It's early afternoon here Linde, I am guessing you are just out of Springs, so a thirty minute drive and lets say to be comfortable, I'll meet you here in the gate room in just over an hour. Does that suit you?" Maria? That would be Arguayo, why was both she and Sam at Linde's house? That did seem to be a curiosity.

For a very brief moment, Cate was considering in not doing this, she was afraid that some of the memories she might regain were not what she particularly wanted right now. But then she was reminded by her father and what he always told her and Ben, 'Face your demons in life kids. If you don't, they'll always come back to bit you.' Wise words and she will live by them.

"I'm not about to go anywhere Linde. I'll have Noah here call me when you arrive." She looked up at the gate timer, they were going to lose contact any moment now. "We should close, the gate will shut down shortly, I'll see you soon. Oh and by the way, I'll be taking you topisde, I'd wear a good pair of boots if I were you." With that she pressed the gate disengage button and turned to Noah. "The instant the gate dials again from the SGC Noah, call me. I'll leave my radio on okay?" She left then, heading back to the showers.

Noah sat there listening to the women converse. There wasn't anything for him to speak because it wasn't his place but some of the things they said like Telepath and El'dari perked his curiosity up. He's never been as far as the Alpha Site, so many things he's heard of is still pretty much a myth to him because he's never met them before.

Clearing his throat, he spoke into the comm to Walter on the other end of the open wormhole, "It's open. They have a go."

"You don't have to shout Aussie." Cate said as she and Lena came up unexpectedly behind Noah. They had used a long familiar route to the old hands, bringing them in through the control room back door rather than through the gate room. "So that's her, tall isn't she Lena." "Yeah, she is tall..."

Elena gave a quick eye over to the woman in question, trying to judge who of the two was taller. She did look like your classic German noble girl, though, that's for sure.

In a minute, she and Cate found themselves besieged by the various folk, and while Commander Wettin was the one they were expected to meet, another introduction, with the word "Doctor" in it, from a man she never saw before, made Lena's eyes narrow for a second. What was about to happen here?

"Lieutenant Colonel Elena Ovcharenko. I'm Cate's commander... Well, I used to be, so I'm still the one holding her leash..."

All proper and by the book, Cate could deal with that and it wasn't as if she wasn't used to Naval types, having two in her family. Yes she still included her dad, knowing the old b*stard could drop in any moment was of some comfort to her, she still wondered why he chose to stay up there in that useless celestials club, the man could opt out any time he wanted to.

"A pleasure to meet you Linde." Cate took the offered hand, a strong one at that, almost a match for herself. She hoped they didn't end up in an arm wrestle so soon. But the curiosity that piqued her was the young Doctor as he introduced himself. "Doctor Warwick. What do I owe the pleasure?" She asked. Was he sent to her? Did Linde bring him for some reason and what kind of Doctor was he exactly?

Then there was Lena, that Russian sense of humor always tickled her funny bone, it was one of the reasons they got on so well, almost as if they were family, probably better than that knowing most families. "Yes and I have had my shots to, so no need to worry on that score." She bared her teeth in a mock canine grin. "Linde, yes I think it would be best topside, there are one or two things we need to do and that would be out of the question here. We can go now if you like." She still wondered why the young Doctor was there.

The gate remained open behind the arrival of the psychologist, and a moment or two later, the black BDU's of LtCol Lee strode through the event horizon.  Without breaking stride he took a few more steps forward, and half turned to glance behind before adjusting the bag on his shoulder and looking around.

A moment or two behind him, Stanton, then Ugene, and Emily came through as if they'd stumbled over a hitch in the rug or a divider between room partitions.  Each one looked various shades of green or blue for a few seconds before catching breath and straightening up as the gate shut down with it's customary 'wuush' of displaced energy.  Lee, looking none the worse for wear, dropped his bag at the end of the ramp and gave them a moment to collect themselves.

Drawing a folded paper out of a pants pocket he glanced around for anyone who seemed to be wearing Alpha site specific uniform.

As usual everyone took no notice of Alex and that was just the way he preferred it, in the shadow of the control room in his dark grey BDU's he was hard to spot, other than the great big MG.50 he stood behind. He watched as the first lot came through, took no notice of them as he had seen the German Commander earlier on, the second group though got his attention, a Marine Lieutenant Colonel and what appeared to be an SG team and not one he'd seen before. He glanced at his gate room buddy, Corporal Jenner USMC, who simply nodded at Alex.

"Sir, may I help you." He said as he approached Lee, snapping to attention smartly in front of him. "Leading Seaman Fry, Royal Navy sir."

The German girl surprised Elena again, even to the point of her raising her brows in amazement for a moment. First was when she spoke to her in perfect, clear Russian, almost without any trace of accent. Second was when she decided to send the Doctor away. Was that guy just trying to hit on Cate all of a sudden? Interesting.

Lena gathered her wits together and after a moment of hesitation, spoke in German as they started on their way topside. Not as perfect as Linde's Russian, but still good.

This was much like days of old at the Alpha site, it was pretty much a girls club then, and it looked like things hadn't changed much over the years either. "That would possibly be a good idea Doctor, you could head off to the cafeteria and grab a bit to eat if you like, we shouldn't be long." Or he could follow along and keep Lena company, because what Linde and Cate were about to do, was something that Cate herself didn't want others witnessing.

"Thank you, your German is very good." Linde said. "I grew up in Frankfurt, but my father insisted that all us children learn Russian among the other languages we learned. So we learned from native speakers our parents hired to teach us. He said that Russians wrote great literature and that we should read it in the original language. He also said that Russian is a great language to swear in!" she said, grinning. "Doctor Warwick is here to talk to Cate in depth about her experiences. But this needs to be resolved first."

He knew that this would be a good time to observe the interactions Cate had with others. He was wondering about Lena as well. Also he had missed his homeland language. When the uniform came to attention, Donovan gave a slight incline of his head and wordlessly handed over the transfer order for his new post as well as the dossier of his team and it's function.  Each of these would be signed by an IOA officer, the President, and the Admiral.

As the rest of the team began to recover from their initial Stargate transit and come down the ramp way, Donovan continued to glance around, noting the gaggle of women chatting away as they exited without so much as a glance his way.  A muscle in his jaw tightened as he was already beginning the list of to-do's.

He made a hand gesture behind him to the team, who each pulled out their own papers verifying they were who they were supposed to be, Stanton noticing the heavy gun mount, Ugene noting the differences in structure, but it was Emily who also noted the group leaving the room, and caught Donovan's eye with a quirk of her brow.

He gave a subtle nod, then returned his attention to the man in front of him waiting in silence.

That was pretty much all he could say, Alex as well looked the man's team over, they appeared to be fairly capable looking.

Donovan took back the papers and folded them crisply once more to tuck into his inner coat pocket and dipped to pick up his bag. "Just myself, Seaman.  If you would be so kind as to provide escort for the rest of my team through registration and requisition of quarters. It seems we will be here for the foreseeable future."

His tone, while delivered in a calm and composed soft spoken voice, was also devoid of any emotion, as we his face, except his intent cobalt eyes.  It didn't matter how hard he tried to school himself, face voice or body, the intensity of his focus, his will, was always visible to those who looked.

The team behind him gathered in a line giving various head nods to the uniform, though it took everything in Ugene to stay standing there and not tear off to explore the place. Emily kept her eyes on Lee, noting his once again spooky demeanor she'd come to expect, though now she'd seen what lay under that, and so was concerned.  Stanton, ever the soldier, stood at loose ease, even with the heavy bag over his shoulder almost as large as Ugene was.

<Gate Room>

"Leading Seaman." Alex politely corrected the Colonel. "Banks, would you take the Colonel's team to the General's clerks office please, then to accommodation." He said to one other SF nearby (there were generally four on duty)

{Airman Lyle Banks USAF} NPC

The younger man left his post, leaving his number two at the MG.50, he approached Lee's team and spoke with a heavy New Orleans accent. "If ya'll follow me, I'll take you to where you need to be." He tipped his brow at his squad leader as he made for the right side blast door.

"Colonel, I'll take you to see the general now, she is a couple of levels up from here." He indicated the opposite side door.

Donovan glanced behind him and inclined his head after the second soldier and the blast doors.  Stanton paused, looking that way then back to Donovan, who inclined his head as if saying 'it's ok' or 'I'm fine'.  Either way the large man accepted, and began following, Emily taking the rear again to make sure Ugene followed and didn't 'get lost' and find himself somewhere he shouldn't be before they were officially on the roster.  Donovan gave the slightest of smiles at her, and the small gesture seemed to alleviate her worry as they left.

Then Donovan turned back to Alex, and followed wordlessly.

Linde and the others got on the elevator and went down to the gate level much faster than they had come up. "I want to talk to Sam Carter about this," she said to Cate. "She's staying at my home while the General is in DC. We thought that this far along in her pregnancy that she shouldn't be staying that far out of town." They got out of the elevator. "I'll be back in a day or two. My father is the new German liaison to the SGC and he wants a tour of Alpha Site." She went up to the gate tech on duty. "Please open a gate to the SGC."

"We only saw you both disappear and reappear. You have a strange aura for lack of a better word around you "

He looked at Elena for some help in explaining what just happened.  He wasn't quite sure what to make of this and was sure he shouldn't write it in the file.

"Does this happen often?" he said watching the two women leave for the gate room. He was not sure if he should follow.

<<From Entrance>

The others had to all but run to catch up with Linde and Cate, such was the advantage of not only being especially fit, but also have extremely long legs, that applied to both and while Lena was tall and quite fit as well, she was never a runner always leaving that up to Cate. She called back to Arcadia as she took off. "The aurora was natural." She was joking of course, but she had no idea that the two of them had actually disappeared from view. "Really huh? Something to tell your grandkids about then." She was off then like a bullet hard on Linde's heals.

"I know I saw her Linde, say hello to her for me will you please." She gave the other a quick hug and it was timely to, hearing Chalmer's voice over the PA. "God what now?" She asked herself, looking around to see if Lena had caught up. Releasing Linde, Cate spun around pipping her radio on channel one. "Lena, I'm going straight to Chalmers office, I'll see you there." To Linde she spoke rapidly but quietly. "We'll meet again Linde, be safe." Then she was off again, the eternal Energizer Bunny.

Noah turned to see that Linde was back. He nodded acknowledging her, "Yes Ma'am, opening the gate."

He turned to his computer and started dialing up the SGC. A few moments later as the gate rumbled and spinning, the blue puddled opened up with a whoosh as Noah directed his voice into the mic, "This is the Alpha Site again. Lieutenant Commander Wettin is on the line."

The technician turned to Linde and nodded letting her take the mic.

The backwash of the Stargate shutting down made an echo in the room that was faintly disturbing to Paul as he reached the base of the ramp, suitcase in one hand, file folder under the other.  He'd only been privy to the Alpha Site file as a courtesy when it was being discussed at the Pentagon, being here was something else.  The sounds were all different, the walls weren't built the same as the familiar SGC he'd been a part of for over a decade.

He'd already been briefed on compliment and roster by the Admiral earlier, but he approached this new situation as he did everything else; awareness, observation, and patience.  He stood alone at the end of the ramp until whoever was on duty came forward.

He was not surprised to see Lt.Col. Lee standing just off to one side at attention in nondescript black BDU's without insignia. A corner of his mouth curved slightly but he tried to hide the vague amusement as he came forward.

"And here I was hoping on getting the jump on you for once." knowing full well Lee and his team had been there nearly a full day ahead of him.  With further amusement he watched Donovan step forward and resist the urge to salute, his face unchanging and in his usual borderline deadpan voice responded.

"I wouldn't be an effective soldier if I let that happen, Sir."  Donovan eyed the lack of any duffel or suitcase, and tilted his head to one side, "Will you be having things sent later?"

Davis came down and shifted the file case from under his arm to the hand holding the case, and reached out to pat the former Ori commander's shoulder, "You're going to be my right hand here, not my chauffeur.  Why don't you show me the general's office and we can get that straightened out."

Donovan did that head and upper body tilt gesture Paul mentally associated with 'medieval guys' like Jaffa and Ori and Goa'uld even, and extended an arm to direct before leading the way.

Make sure please that all lines to Coast Guard are free, we have storm coming." She was about to run off then stopped. "You saw Asian boy earlier from other world?" Then she was gone, he could tell her about it later.

When the gate started up again, Noah took a sip out of his Australian Flat White. It was a type of coffee native to Australia and New Zealand. Probably the only type of coffee he would drink since American coffee tasted horrible. He would only drink Australian and not American for coffee. Looking up, he touched the radio as the gate opened with a noticeable whoosh sound. The recognizable voice of Cheryl came through as he responded, "Roger. I'll let her know. Do we need the gate open?"

While keeping his line to the SGC open, Noah turned another line and spoke opening the commander's office, "Commander Wettin, this is Israel. General Caldwell requests you to come to the gate room.

Right after when Noah relayed the message to the General's office recalling Linde, he responded to Cheryl as the lieutenant cut off radio access missing his response. Letting out a sigh, he wasted no time calling the General's office again quickly while dialing up the gate again, "General Chalmers, we are on DEFCON 3 now. I repeat. We are on DEFCON 3. Israel out."

As the gate continued spinning and locking in, Commander Wettin approached him for a confirmation as he responded, "We are on DEFCON 3, ma'am. The General should be on the other end."

Soon as the gate opened, Noah responded, "Lieutenant, I have Commander Wettin for the General. Shall I connect?"

Noah turned to Linde and responded curtly, "Go ahead, Commander. The General is waiting on the other side."

He expected her to walk through the gate shortly. For something like DEFCON 3 meant that something was up and it wasn't good. Noah hoped it wouldn't be war, but in the same time he could consider himself lucky. Because he's the gate technician, most of the deaths would probably happen outside of the base and all he as to do is stay near the Gate. Unless of course it became radioactive or it exploded near his vicinity, he wouldn't be walking around or shaking it off. He'd be dead as a doornail. He let out an uneasy sigh and offered a weak smile as he continued to maintain the gate to remain open while connected to Earth.

He never had this much success talking to women so maybe he should ask Cheryl out if he could. Whenever. He awaited Troy or whoever he was to enter through the gate. Thanking Lt Brownwell, William walked through the gate enroute to the Alpha Quadrant. While the rifle was easily accessible, he purposely kept his hands away from the trigger. There was no immediate threat, and he didn't want to scare whoever was on the receiving end of the Stargate.

When the man with an Russian accent filled the comm as Noah listened, he raised his eyebrow and pursed his lips slightly hesitating. A single strand of thought passed his mind as he wondered to himself, The German Army? On an Russian ship? Can't that be a good sign? Well, WWII is long over anyways.

It was a curious question and the captain had this curious Russian accent. However, he wouldn't ask because it wasn't his job or place. Quickly, he responded after clearing his throat and followed through with his Aussie accent, "Yes, Captain. Give me a moment while I relay the question to the Alpha Site base commander. Go ahead and land on the designated coordinates set for your ship."

After placing that radio on hold and muted, he multi-tasked a bit by sending the Captain the landing coordinates where he should land on Alpha Site as he switched to another radio and hailed the alpha base CO, General Chalmers. This is Israel again. The Hermes has arrived with the, umm," he cleared his throat again and finished, "German Army. Captain Rafikov is on the radio. He will be landing shortly."

He continued to watch as both Sheppard and McKay approached the gate while waiting for confirmation from Atlantis. His response was answered as Chuck responded.

As the spinning gate settled onto the eighth chevron Lucille's expression took on one of those rare smiles when something in her day had gone right. She stepped out of the control room, walking the short distance to the ramp to stand beside both John and Doctor McKay. John would of course know what that meant, random visits by her just to make sure everything was shipshape. John let out an audible sigh as the gate began to dial.  He was anxious to get home and back to the life he had there.  His communication with the city had been sparse and though he was aware of how that might appear to some, it wasn't intentional.
McKay was anxious to return but for different reasons.  His duties as diverting as they were, were different and he had to mostly defer to others whom he felt were lesser minds than his.  Most had been happy to see him return to Pegasus and told him so in no uncertain terms.  His explanation of this satisfied only him.
As the wormhole settled, Rodney headed up the ramp giving the General only a cursory glance.  John on the other hand faced his former commander, nodded respectfully before following McKay into the puddle.  His final thoughts about his time on Earth were relief to be leaving.

Davis walked briskly to the gate room and quickly found General Chalmers as the wormhole cut out on the Stargate. She was currently occupied with someone else. He respectfully waited on the sidelines for his turn to address her. He wanted to catch up as quickly as possible so he could get to work, but there was a chain of command and procedures that were strictly followed in the Air Force and he had adhered to them for so long he barely even felt his eagerness anymore.

Stepping off to the side, out of the way of anybody going to and from the gate, he adjusted his signature Maroon beret and adopted a posture of parade rest.

He watched as the Stargate was activated and dialed 8 symbols instead of the 7 that seemed to be the standard combination. Hearing mention of Atlantis, William realized the importance of the extra symbol. Once the 2 men walked through the gate and the device shut down behind them, the attention shifted to the newcomer from the SGC.

Coming to attention, William answered the question.
"1 Lt William Troy Ma'am. I've been instructed to join SG-4. Orders from Admiral Sean Davidson."

Hopefully the Admiral's name would be enough, but on the off chance it wasn't William had an official set of orders assigning him to the team.

<Control Room>

Lucille spoke in her usual rapid form as she strode directly back to the control room, it would be after all more comfortable in there with at least four chairs to sit on. "Paul since you have only a day left of freedom you may as well join us, it'll help you acclimatise yourself." She walked up the five stairs to the room noting that Noah had already shut the gate down. Before she took a seat for herself Lucille mentioned to him in passing. "Mister Georg Wettin will be returning Earth side shortly Noah."

"Right lets get down to business Lieutenant. These are verbal orders from the Admiral directly I take it? He is aware that SG4 has always been an all female team isn't he?" She knew he was, it didn't hurt to check though, what was the man up to? "So is there anything specific he asked of you?" Her eyes looked over at Paul, ensuring he was following her line of questioning.

Following the General into the control room, William took off his pack and set it by the door before taking a seat across from the General and a third person whom remained unidentified.

"Yes Ma'am, he is aware of the history of SG-4. If their Commander balks at the idea, I was told to say I could wear a dress anytime. Once I made contact with SG-4, we were to return to Stargate Command ASAP. Beyond that I'm afraid I don't have any further information regarding the team's responsibilities."

(From Landing Area)

Leaving the Hermes in the capable hands of Major Avdeyev, Aleksei, Captain Babeinko and General Guderian set out to locate the control room. It was fairly easy to located the central building but once inside, there were no signs pointing visitors to the various areas of the base.  While frustrating, it made sense from a security standpoint.

By asking a few people where to go, the trio was able to avoid getting lost and locate the control room. Having little authority when not aboard the Hermes, Aleksei deferred to the higher rank of his German counterpoint.
"General Guderian, I'll let you do the talking. After all, I'm just the transport and General Chalmers will likely be more interested in your troops than the Hermes."

Georg slipped quietly through the gate the next time it opened for Earth. He knew that General Chambers was very busy and didn't need him around to complicate things.

Margit went up to General Chambers and saluted, then held out her hand in greeting. "General Chambers, I am Generalbrigade Margit Guderian, commanding the reinforced Panzergrenadierbrigade 37 of the German Army. As soon as you give the word I can start unloading my troops and set up their encampment and we can confer on how to best defend your site and the town."

Just as she finished talking a message from General Caldwell on Saggitta came over the speakers. "Combined Fleet getting under way, Selinde Norogood, commanding. We have met a new race who have been allies of the El'dari for centuries but we just found out about them. They call themselves the Kelts and they are originally from Earth. They fought along side the El'dari in the last war. Their High Queen, Aeron, is second-in-command. their fleet is much bigger than the El'dari. Their High Queen Aeron told me that their intelligence had found out that the Lucian Alliance had supplied the Borg with modern weapons and that they were going to attack Alpha Site and Foreston. She also said that they were sending a task force and a full division of their army to support us. So this is a warning to General Chambers that she'll be getting some company besides the Germans. Caldwell out."

First things first, Lucille had to get the Lieutenant under way. "Well that statement alone convinces me the message is genuine, no one else but our good Admiral would say that Lieutenant. Noah-" Lucille prodded her gate technician on the shoulder. "Inform Lieutenant Colonel Ovcharenko she has a new team member and that they are to return to the SGC forthwith once they completed their survey. Lieutenant, I'd be going up to them first, they may still be a while yet."

She then looked Paul straight in the eye, speaking to General Guderian and Captain Rafikov as she did so. "Colonel Davis here will be taking over as Commander from midday tomorrow, so in that I should let him sort out the details with you General." Lucille returned the greeting with a firm handshake. Then the sudden call from Steven Caldwell. "It looks like you're going to be busy Paul, you might as well get stated now." She breathed a sigh of relief, glad in many ways this burden was being passed onto someone younger.

Noah nodded responding, "Roger."

He tapped the radio once and tuned it to raise the Dreadnaught still in orbit, Lieutenant Colonel Ovcharenko, this is Petty Officer Israel. General Chalmers wanted me to inform you that you have a new team member and that they are to return to the SGC once they finished their survey. Over."

He stood by the comm awaiting her reply.

While the 2 Generals were talking a message came over the speakers about the Lucian Alliance and another adversary named the Borg. He didn't know who they were, but if the Lucian Alliance was supplying them with weapons it wasn't a good thing. Stepping outside the room, he radioed the Hermes.

Major Avdeyev, we apparently have some hostiles inbound. I am awaiting further orders, but I want the Hermes prepped for Combat just the same.

Upon receiving a positive response from the Major, he stepped back in to continue the discussion on what came next.

William was initially confused by the General's mention of going up to meet the rest of SG-4, but soon got the message. Apparently, whatever survey they were performing was being done from an orbiting spaceship.
"Thank you General, I guess I'll stand by for transport."

Getting up from his seat, William nodded to the rest of the gathered officers before donning his pack and waiting for the transporter.

"He is ready," Noah responded as he paused before turning to the general continuing as the com link remained open, "On your order, General. Ma'am."

He noted that William was ready to go. He wanted to say something to ease the tension, but all he could say was in his good Australian accent, "You ready for the moment of a lifetime, Lieutenant?"

Noah offered a grin as he awaited the word of the General. He wasn't sure if the lieutenant was prepared for the beaming process of teleportation because Noah sure was caught off guard by the process. Blinding. White light. Of the Asguard beam.

Paul was a little taken off guard by the suddenness of the command essentially dropped in his lap mid operation, but it wasn't the first time nor will it be the last by a long shot. He was used to being thrown from the frying pan into the fire in the USAF, especially the Stargate program, it happened VERY regularly and he quickly regained his composure hoping that no one noticed.

Focusing on the General Chalmers, "Thank you General Chalmers I hope that your next assignment is as exciting as the one you are leaving for me!"

Looking at the Lt Troy, "Lt. Troy good luck on SG4, I'm sure I'll hear from you and your new team soon enough."

Quickly shifting his attention to General Guderian, "Generalbrigade Guderian please proceed with unloading your troops, the local population has graciously offered to help with housing your people temporarily. We'll get you pointed in the right direction and talking to the right people momentarily."

"Thank you, Colonel," Margit said. She turned to the young Russian captain. "Captain, would you please expedite the unloading of my personnel?" She brought her comm to her lips. "Erich, start unloading now. I have been informed that the local will helping with billeting. I will be her helping to coordinate things with the Site commander." She turned to Lucille. "General Chambers, I hope you have a good, restful tour back on Earth." She turned her attention back to Paul. "Colonel, we need to confer quickly in order to get my personnel billeted and ready to start setting up defenses."

"Josile I have some troops here ready to take you up on your offer on sleeping arrangements, are you still on the base?"

Aleksei nodded.
"Of course General. A quick offload is in the best interests of all involved. I'll contact our load-master and have her ensure a smooth operation."

Radioing the ship, he was patched through to Senior Sergeant Marianna Dorokhin.
"Sgt, as you may have heard, we have permission to offload the Germans. There should be a representative meeting them to ensure they end up at the correct location. Contact myself or Captain Babienko should any problems arise."

That done, he turned his attention to the Alpha Site's new Commanding Officer.
"Colonel Davis sir. What are our orders once the offload is complete?"

The LZ may have been heavily defended, but regardless of their next assignment Aleksei didn't want the Hermes caught on the ground should an attack occur.

Each and every action and word was observed by Captain Babienko, her eyes watching with great care and remembering it all around her. Every thing was important, she had learned that from an early age and it was part of how she got to where she was, by watching and observing,, then when needed she acted or spoke.

A pending battle had her senses alerted already, this kind of situations could change rapidly and all other plans set aside. She just stood patiently, nodding her head that her assistance was there to be requested, by her CO's side.

"Thank you all for you kind wishes, although I'm not done here until after midday tomorrow." Lucille had just over twenty four hours to bring Paul up to speed, not a long time in the grand scheme of things. "My new posting with be a fly in all of your collective ears folks, I've been appointed as the Pentagon's SGC Inspector General. Which means you'll all probably see me more than you would wish to." She leaned into Paul's shoulder just a little, whispering to him. "Have them acquaint themselves with both the base, the surrounding area and where all our point defences are located. Josile can assist with familiarizing them with local militia." She sat back up as if she'd said nothing at all.

Margit was a long time professional and got right to business. "I've studied the maps, but I need to go over the ground. I need to find a good spot to set up my command post and to site the artillery. The gunners have long-range drones for scouting and targeting. Plus I have a full regiment of helicopter gunships that needs to find a place to park. Then there is where I place my maneuver battalions. The message said that these Borg now have modern weapons. I hope that we'll have time to dig defensive positions."
Title: Re: PG8-K59 Alpha Site Gate Room

Paul took a deep breath and looked around the room.  "First things first you all need to where you are. You need to familiarize yourselves with the base here and the surrounding areas as well as see the point defenses in person. As well as getting your people and supplies settled in and organized. Margit, Josile Seranatel is a leader of the Cavaleiros and knows the area better than anyone, she is on her way up now to assist. She will show you around and you can find a place for everything you need. I know you want to hit the ground running but we need to be organized or we'll all just run into each other. We may be short on time, but that is no reason to cut corners. Josile also knows all about the local militia that we will be coordinating with so we need to talk to her first before digging in." Putting an order to things and explaining the importance of organization when coordinating with multiple militias to these gung-ho personnel made Paul feel better. He was taking charge and doing things in an orderly fashion was an important part of his command. Speaking of command, "General Chalmers who will be replacing Jordon as the XO of the base?"

So far Lucille was more than impressed with the speed of Paul's uptake on proceedings, still there was a little more he needed to know and indeed the German commander as well and that small brow furrowing detail might not sit too well with them; to be truthful it never sat well with herself either yet it was one of those small annoying things you had to live with. It was the mention of the gunships that alerted her, first things first though. "We did have one fellow here though unfortunately his orders were withdrawn. Initially Paul we had twelve candidates recommended with most of them rejected for one reason or another; though one in particular I think we should reappraise. I am sure you would remember Alecia Satterfield? The Pentagon turned down her application simply because they felt she hadn't had the command experience, but I think after her actions on the Odyssey recently and her promotion to Major we should consider her. If you agree I'll email Admiral Davidson to get his opinion, I'm sure he'll approve it as in the end his word is the only one we need." It was a choice she herself would have made earlier had she been aware of all the details at the time.

As habits never wain, Lucille drummed her fingers for a few seconds. "Margit this may come as rather a shock to your command as far as your gunships go. But I'm afraid they won't see much air time as far as combat goes. The Cavaleiros have forbidden us to use air assets against the Borg, to them its dishonorable, otherwise I'm sure you'd agree would could have eliminated the problem years ago and this discussion wouldn't be taking place. As guests on their world we have to abide by their ruling. I will say this though, if those brutes of the North who left this world not so long ago return here, then that would change everything." That was a fear she still held.

Margit's eyebrows rose in astonishment. War was not about honor or glory, it was a nasty, sordid business that needed to be put an end to quickly in order to reduce the loss of life on all sides. "According to General Caldwell, the Borg have been given modern weaponry by the Lucian Alliance. How will they stand up to that? What if the choice comes to either honor or the end of their people? I will tell her that if my troops are in danger of being overrun I will use everything at my disposal to prevent that."

Margit came forward and offered her hand in the Terran fashion to Josile. "I am General Margit Guderian. I have been sent with a force to be a permanent garrison for Alpha Site and to help protect your world. I very much appreciate your offer of billeting for my troops and I intend to take you up on it. We have much to discuss as to the proper deployment of my brigade to defend this base and Foreston."

The Russian Captain exchanged looks with his XO as the others discussed tactics. He was a career submariner before the Stargate Program, but he had to agree it was best to bring all available force to bear in defense of the Alpha Site. Regardless of his opinion on tactical matters, Aleksei needed to know if the Hermes would be remaining in the area or heading elsewhere.

"Colonel Davis sir, what are your orders concerning the Hermes? We were simply told to ferry the Germans here to the Alpha Site, and that's where our current orders end. We may not be a dedicated warship, but we are willing to join any other spacecraft to ward off the Borg."

If they were not needed or wanted, he would take the Hermes back to Earth and contact the SGC for further orders. If they weren't under threat of imminent attack, he would offer to do another cargo run. However, he didn't want to be caught still loading when the attack came.

All this chatter around her annoyed and irritated Katerina, she had always hated when others talked around her when she waited for orders, it wasted her time and it could have been far better spent. Especially if there was a possibility that they maybe called into battle.

Before Josile could speak up, or even Paul, Lucille felt bidden to help out as best as she could so that the poor man wouldn't be too overwhelmed on his command. "If I may Colonel Davis. Captain Rafikov we have intelligence updates from the SGC every hour. If you allow me to take you to my office we can see exactly where the need is most great. As of now the next shipment of ore won't be ready for transport for another six days, leaving you somewhat in limbo." Paul was appreciating the help from the General. He thought about it, "We could use the support from the skies from the Hermes, just back up though. Then when the ore is ready to ship, as long as there is a safe way to load, we can send the Hermes on her way."

Looking at Margit, "We'll park the gunships for now, but keep them prepped just in case. Honor is very important to the local population and we respect that here. However we will not let these people be wiped out."

Still trying to keep up with thing and yet seem like a competent CO Paul paused to allow the others in the room to speak so that he could gather more information before making further decisions.

He went from being just a figure in the background to having the outgoing and incoming CO both offer to find a way for the Hermes to assist in the upcoming battle.

"Of course, we wouldn't want to interfere with the normal operations of the Alpha Site. It would also be difficult to transport the ore should the Hermes or the Alpha Site be destroyed. Give us the details on how to best assist, and I and Captain Babienko will ensure those orders are carried out."

Being Cavaleiros meant you were the type of person to speak only when you had something of great importance to say, or there was something relevant you had to add to a conversation. Added to that, when clan chiefs met with Josile she rarely spoke as her role was and will always be the mediator in most matters, even battle planning for her people was jointly handled by the chiefs. Not that she wasn't capable, she was more than so, having been at war with their enemy on and off since she could wield a bow. Politely she bowed her head to Margit. " I am more than grateful to meet you General Margit Guderian, my city is at your disposal and I would be pleased to hear what your Brigade can do to enhance the defences of our world. The humans of Earth were always in such a hurry, Josile put that down to their ever so short lives, wanting to get as much in as possible with every minute available to them. She'd not even been introduced to the newcomers and before she knew it they were being whisked away by the general again. All she could do was bow her head in the Cavalieros way and watch them leave. Once they were respectfully out of earshot, she spoke again. To Paul she spoke first. "Colonel Davis, what are these gunships you speak of? The very name sparks my curiosity as we here have in the past built 'ships' of the same name, but those travel on the sea so I am assuming you speak of something like your aerial vehicles?" She then nodded to Margit, her fingers laced together in a relaxed manner in front of her.

"General Guderian we can accommodate an additional eight thousand people here as our homes in the new city and its environs have been rebuilt in such a way as to take into account any growth in population we may expect in the future. But since we've yet to experience a sudden burst of newlings coming into the world, you have our homes to share." Taking a breath, Josile thought briefly on the most urgent need. "We are expanding beyond Altan in the south, towards that we are building a heavy rail line from Foreston and beyond. We would ask if it possible that perhaps you could look into our needs for a dual purpose bridge over the River Erinin some eighty miles south. We have a small wooded trestle bridge there now to take large wagons, but with our people slowly looking to modernise in the next few decades, even dare I say with your motor vehicles, that current bridge simply could not cope."

Margit tilted her head. "We can certainly do that," she replied. "And please, call me Margit. I will have to consult with my chief engineer, but we brought heavy construction equipment from Earth that should be able to handle the job. He'll have to go out to look the site over, and perhaps consult with engineers back on Earth and maybe have to import some special equipment, but we are meant to be a permanent garrison and I have orders to cooperate with you in every way."

Paul thought about the best way to explain gunships to Josile. He has encountered this type of thinking outside the box on more than one occasion. Explaining things to other cultures is something Paul has done before. "Yes the Gunships that we brought are helicopters. They are pulled up in the air by a large propeller on the roof of the ship. There are guns mounted so they can fire on other ships in the air or, in this case, onto enemy on the ground. Sitting back just a bit, Josile folded her arms; on Earth this would be seen as a defensive mechanism but here among the Cavaleiros it was merely a way of looking relaxed. "That is most pleasing M..Margit I can assure you. That bridge is so very important to us, not as one might think to press inroads upon the southern Borg, it is necessary as our population grows here in the North to cater for the food transport of the future. I have seen on your Earth how lack of foresight and planning so often costed your people dearly when infrastructure was eventually needed." This was the reason Josile led her people at the tender age of thirty five, she was wise beyond her years, her physical strength helped as well, but it was never the sole reason a leader was chosen.

To Paul she turned her head, the face she wore was stern. "I see and yes Colonel we do have certain rules governing warfare on our world. Yet I will say this but once and it goes without saying; if any of the remaining Borg tribes ever gained the upper hand on us in regards to technology, then I would permit such vessels to be used without hesitation." She paused in thought. "Now I understand some of your people were taken early this morning from our City. I offer you our fullest aid wherever its needed and know this Colonel, we can deliver swift retribution if necessary."

The colonel was relieved to hear Josile say that she would be willing to use the full battalion that was brought to aid her people. "I'm glad to hear that you and your people will be open to using everything we have to offer in aid. As far as our missing people I have our best team on it right now, if for whatever reason they come back empty handed I will definitely take you up on your offers, thank you. As far a retribution, Josile, lets wait on that to see what information we have after we get our people back."

That was the thing that the Cavaleiros had been impressed by their friends from Earth, their sincerity to get things done in the most efficient way possible without the melodrama she had experienced from some of their other 'allies'. "I bow to your wisdom Colonel, and Margit, I never cease to be amazed at the things your people bring to us." She bowed her head to both of them. "We have had a long history with the Borg, none of it good for the most part; I will say this, when they strike they will not surrender, even to the last." Which was lamentable since some of them showed a high degree of intelligence, more so the southern tribes.

Noah sat there monitoring the activity of the gate to make sure there was no surprises. He was growing a tad bit bored as he watched the three, Josile, Margit and Davis, talking among each other. Suddenly he got an email from Jim Lucas about. It was important enough to warrant his attention, so he immediently sat upright as he keyed in a few commands to ring up the gate. He started dialing the SGC.

He spoke to the three people in the gate room that was talking among each other, "Excuse me, there is a medical situation on is way from the medic bay for transportation to SGC. Stand by."

He wasn't sure why exactly he told them, but he felt it was his duty to tell someone. So he did just that. Soon as the gate opened, Noah spoke through the comm, "Lieutenant Brownwell, there is an medical emergence coming through the gate within the next ten to fifteen minutes. Have your medical staff standby soon as possible."

"I wouldn't argue with me either Flynn." Blake had a reputation as a fairly good head to have around in any debate. But of course as far as Flynn was concerned he was joking. "You know what.." He said as he gently set her down. "...you can tell me what to do any time of the day or week."

Flynn felt herself blushing at his words.  She had never met anyone like him before.  "I shall have to remember that," she said, trying to hide her embarrassment.  Although Blake seemed really nice and they seemed to enjoy a lot of the same things.

Every minute that passed Jordan was keenly aware that she was drawing nearer to the end of her time here at the Alpha site. With that firmly planted in the back of her mind, she was at a rush to complete everything she needed to do as if it would bring that climax even faster. She reached the control room in possibly her own personal best time, so much so along the way she managed to knock over one hapless airman without even blinking, or stopping for that matter.

She knew a conversation was ongoing when she arrived, as well something was about to occur as far as gate travel was concerned, that much was obvious seeing the event horizon active as she reached the gate room. "Excuse me all." She said with her sometimes more dignified tone. "Colonel Davis if you're free now, the General asked me to give you a tour of the base before you get bogged down in anything too dramatic." What a stupid thing to say, drama was 24/7 in this place

By this time Josile was on her feet, never one to sit still long, no Cavaleiros were. "I would be honored Margit and may I ask Jordan, if you're showing the good Colonel around, perhaps as it is on our way, you could show him the base stables first. Margit I presume you ride?" It would be far easier to have the woman acquainted with the base for her to see how large an area it covered from the back of a horse.

"Now that is a good idea." Jordan had to agree to that.

Paul was glad to get out of the gateroom he was starting to get antsy. He was thrilled to finally get a tour of the base.
"Commander O'Neill thank you for the offer lets get going."

Paul had ridden a horse a few times but was far from an experienced rider. However he did agree that a tour on horseback would probably be the best way. "Lead the way, I think the base stables are a great place to start!

Margit smiled ruefully. "I can ride, just barely. Enough to keep from falling off. I'm not like Sieglinde Wettin or her father who took riding lessons all of their lives. I can see that my troops are going to have to learn to ride in order to get around here. Oh well, it will keep my soldiers active so they won't have a chance to get fat."

"You both will find our steeds far more intelligent than those you are accustomed to back on Earth. Those we ride here are more what we call friends rather than simply beasts of burden, they understand our words and respond in a way of their own." Josile had to let them know they weren't dealing with your everyday animal. Although trained from a very young age as a warhorse, they would be accommodating to the individual riders skills; only the very foolish or reckless fall from them.

Jordan agreed with a knowing expression on her face, it was partially sad for her to, a realisation settling in that her own horse  Redeemer, she would never see again. "She's right. All I can say is that they are magnificent creatures, nothing like anything we know."

Flynn was a bit unsteady on her feet as Blake sat her back down.  At least they had gotten inside though.  She looked around, having not been here since she had come through nearly unconscious.  "I think so.  so, what do we do now?" she asked, looking at Blake and Joarm.  They needed to find some way to help the missing.

"We wait a minute Flynn." The man was semi grinning from the corner of his mouth, at the same time as flattening himself against the wall to attention. He gave Joarm a quick nod of approval, thinking for some strange reason the fellow would make an ideal best man if Blake ever took that long walk again. He watched carefully as officers filed out, one he recognised as Colonel Paul Davis, although the last time he saw him, he was a Major and that was several years ago back at the SGC.

Once that lot were out of site, he led his friends into the control room. "Noah, buddy. I have a favor to ask." There was no time for introductions, that would come later.

He offered his smile at both Flynn and Joarm as well. It was good to see them both again. Especially Flynn. He meant to visit her but wasn't sure if it was proper for a gate technician like himself.

Waiting.  Perfect.  Flynn had gotten good with that since the Borg.  It had been what she had had to do in order to escape.  At least here she wasn't trying to escape.  She watched a couple people walk past, but she honestly didn't recognize them.  there weren't too many that did.  Noah though was one that she did remember meeting.  Flynn smiled and nodded a greeting to Noah.  She was sure he was wondering why they were there.

<Control Room>

Two or three things happening all at once could often be confusing for most, but not Noah. One of the reasons he had this job was because he was an excellent multi tasker, he always had been. He held up one finger to Blake, grinning. "I bet it has something to do with that radio call?" He needn't have asked, Blake reaction in hugging Flynn was enough to say so. "Just a minute guys, but I think you all should head down to the commissary and let them know. The general is down there trying to soothe the crew from Zulu." He tapped on his keyboard.

"Great news Bald Eagle, well done. Update us please the moment you get back to the Dread. Alpha site out." He was going to be busy, so better to keep them off the radio for a while.

Blake couldn't stop grinning himself, nor did he want to stop with the hugging of Flynn. His eyes though looked over her at Joarm, the man should feel relieved knowing that the Cavaleiros had one less thing to worry about. Finally though he released his bear hug on Flynn so he could at least talk comfortably. "So do I Flynn, so do I. Noah, we'll leave you to it then and I think we should be the bearers of good news don't you Flynn?"

Easy done. "Thanks mate. Now if you'll excuse me." His next duty was on the waiting list. "Doctor Jaworski the gate is still active sir, I have Lieutenant Brownwell on the radio now."

Flynn had to admit, she felt a bit lonely after Blake released her from the hug.  She had enjoyed it more then she probably should have, but with everything she had recently been through she was going to take the happy feeling.  She turned to Noah as he spoke before giving her attention to Blake again.  "Yes, I think we should,' she smiled.  It would be great to have good news for the crew.  She knew how she felt and she was sure they would be happier then her.

While Paul was away, effectively until SG9 returned Miki was in charge. That put a lot of pressure on her shoulders but it wasn't anything she couldn't handle. So when the strange radio call came in from the Goa'uld she knew as Sobek, she took it with a grain of salt. "I'm afraid Lord Sobek you've caught us at a bad time." Margit, Paul and Josile all materialized in the gate room at the same time. Paul headed off to his office and quarters to pack. "Petty Officer, beam Josile wherever she needs to go," she ordered as she sat down at a vacant console and began typing. She pulled together the video records from their recon flight and appended it to the report she was working on. As soon as she was finished it would be sent to Admiral Davidson, AVM Fraser and General Caldwell.

By this time Paul was escorting Josile up to the control room, there was as always so much to catch up on from even a short spell away. He opened the door for her wider after Margit stepped through. He'd have of course file his own version of the report which he thought a total waste of time, just more paperwork to be read by the senior staff, which would be identical to Margit's report. He shrugged, there would be time for that. Before Josile could speak up though, he needed to know what Miki might have for him. "Did I miss anything?" He asked nonchalantly.

Miki had a rather sad look on her face, which was unusual for her. "Yes Colonel San, orders for you. You're being posted back to the Pentagon on General O'Neill's orders." She handed him the hard copy of the orders. Paul read it through in Jack's typical quick wording.

"Damn me eh." He wasn't sad, at least his face didn't show it. "I'm being assessed for promotion as second to General O'Neill himself on his personal request. I could see Brigadier within a year." Yes he was smiling. "I leave within an hour, which means as he has indicated that Lieutenant Colonel Bixby is to take over pending her own promotion."

All these words were somewhat lost on Josile, though she was patient, she waited a little longer.

"I'd better start packing, Miki can you see to whatever both the General and Josile here need. If I'm wanted urgently I'll be in my room." He looked around at the two women. "Best of luck Josile, if I don't see you before you leave, it was wonderful meeting you. General, we will see each other again." He shook the hands of both then left promptly.

<<Colonel Davis to rooms>>

"Same to you Colonel Paul Davis." She replied with that special warmth her people were known for. As soon as Paul was gone, it was Josile's turn. "Miki, I wish to go to Chesu, it should be in your addresses as I traveled there not eight months ago."

Miki remembered it well. "Just a moment. Excuse me General." She said, reaching just a little over past Margit to call up the address. The gate started dialing within moments.

When the wormhole settled, Josile spoke again. "I should be not more than a day. When Captain Taer arrives, he has agreed to assist me. Could you send him on, I will arrange to meet him on the other side."

"It shall be done Josile. Take care." Miki said.

"You to. Margit, hopefully we shall get what we need. I have this..." She indicated her own radio that had been supplied to her. "...so expect to hear from me soon."

Margit finished typing up her report, appended the videos to it, encrypted it and then compressed it for transmittal to SGC. "Petty Office, as soon as possible open the gate to Earth and send this report. It is at FLASH precedence and is addressed to Admiral Davidson, General Caldwell and Air Vice Marshal Fraser."

A blinding flash light flashed as Taer appeared. The rest of his words became lost in his mumbled when he looked around the gate room appearing lost. They sent him somewhere or beamed him. He just didnt realize they sent him to the gate room. Turning around, he inquired "Where's Bixby? I should probably report to her first before joining Joslie."

He looked at the Technician at the controls and wondered where he should be sent to first.

"Colonel san is still in Merrenden Captain Taer. I shall let her know, for I did hear radio communications between her and Flight Lieutenant Hatfield that permission had been given for you to accompany Josile san." She stood up so he could see her behind the glass window. "I would proceed, Josile is but a few steps ahead of you."

<<Taer to Chesu>> (http://lostworldssff.com/index.php?topic=2233.0)

When those words escaped from her rose bud mouth, Miki returned her attention to Margit. "General san, I have not been a Petty Officer for almost ten years now." She said respectfully. The one single thing that stood out with Miki, she was all protocol; even off duty she seemed to be on duty, rarely letting her guard down save for her closest friends, of those she had few save Commander Renner and Lieutenant McAdams. "The moment Captain Taer has gone, I shall wait the appropriate time then dial the SGC immediately General."

Miki offered a polite smile as she began resetting the gate to dial up the SGC. "Apologies are not needed General San, we are after all as I've heard said, Navy is much confusing. One moment ma'am." She let the procedure quickly go through its routine before calling Cheryl yet again. "SGC, this is the Alpha site. General Guderian has an urgent message to be forwarded to Admiral Davidson, General Caldwell and Air Vice Marshall Fraser. Marked Priority one." She added the last on her own, just to be sure there was no mistake.

 A moment later.

"Acknowledged Miki."

Satisfied the hookup was clean, Miki pressed send on her keyboard. It was a large file though it did go through in good speed. She waited again for the next response.

"All received five by five. I'll get this out now. SGC out."

Immediately the gate shut down. Miki realised then that Cheryl had enacted a security protocol. "All received General. Now I would guess its a waiting game. Is there anything else I can do for you?"

This was awkward, sitting here with a Staff officer just biding their time. If it were General O'Neill, he'd be chatting with her merrily, she has had him here twice. So an ice breaker was needed. "Ma'am would you excuse me a moment?" She had a cunning plan.

Slipping away silently through the rear door Miki went directly to her own secondary office that was attached off the hallway quite close to the gate room. In there was located a small kitchen for gate room staff in the first space, then her office behind that through another door. The first thing she did was to make some tea, straight up, leaving the milk and sugar to be added at Margit's own discretion. Those items were in small silverware containers left over from Lucille's command; each of them including the silver service tray were engraved with the US Marines logos. She added a few Scotch short bread biscuits then before returning she checked her emails, luckily she did as there was important message for her to read. Lieutenant Colonel Michelle Bixby was to be promoted to full Colonel then assigned as base CO, effectively immediately. She had to hurry; it was good news at least.

She returned after about five minutes setting the tray down in front of Margit. "Sometimes hunger attacks during long periods of waiting General san." She said with her typical all knowing ways. She also placed a hard copy of the email on the table as well. "I must be calling Colonel Bixby, we do needing her to return immediately, I hope timing is not inconvenient." As those last words left her lips she opened up the desk radio. "Colonel Bixby, this is Alpha Site control room do you copy?"

That was quick, at least Miki felt she wasn't disturbing the woman too much, hopefully. "Yes Colonel, everything is okay as you say. Although my guessing might be as to how you look at it. You have acquired the number of service points, so you are effectively promoted to full Colonel as of now. Secondly, with Colonel Davis's return to Earth, you have been assigned as the Alpha Site's commander. Margit could see that she her presence was slightly unnerving the Navy senior NCO. "Thank you for the tea, Chief. I will go to my headquarters and wait for any message from SGC." She got out of chair and walked out, leaving the building and heading towards her HQ caravan not far away.

Once again the Stargate burst into life with the big kawoosh, Cheryl was calling in an instant.

"Alpha site, this is the SGC. Admiral Davidson has returned a moment ago, he requests that General Guderian gets back to him asap with a full situation report. Reinforcements are also enroute from our Kely allies over. Has Colonel Bixby assumed command as yet?"

Miki jumped on the intercom. "General San, a message from the SGC. Admiral Davidson has returned, he wishes to receive a situation update as soon as possible. As well, he tells that we are being reinforced by our allies the Kelt people. I am assuming cooperation would be appreciated. I will ensure Colonel Bixby returns quickly also."  "Copy that General, sending now." Miki responded as quickly as she could, though before she could carry out that order Colonel Bixby had arrived. Trying not to look startled, she spun her chair around looking as cheerful as ever, her normal mode. "Colonel Bixby, welcome back. Please I know its very rushed but please do be seated Ma'am, you can see first hand how things are working before I give you the official introduction."  "More than usual Colonel, even for the Alpha Site. Colonel Davis's rapid redeployment was I do say totally unexpected." She still had to wait for the general to either call back or arrive in person, so for now it was stall, stall. "Perhaps if I may ma'am, knowing your background with Air Force I realise that naval ranks can be rather confusing. So to set the record straight, in company you only need to refer to me as 'Chief', more formal occasions yes it would be Chief Petty Officer. Though please call me Miki when we're alone, as I am your eyes and ears here now, we shall be work very close together." She hoped in her awkward English that came out correctly.

"You're most welcome Colonel, my job here is important to me, and you as well." It was well known throughout the military that the company clerk, not exactly Miki's job description, but close enough; was the central wheel that kept all the machinery working. Without that person, like Walter and Cheryl at the SGC, everything simply stops. "General it is good that you are here. Our latest updates so far. Just after the Colonel arrived here, I picked up on radio transmissions AC401-16 is headed south for another survey on these strange invaders. We've not yet though heard from Doctor Svennson down in Merrenden so far, perhaps that is a good sign. Colonel, if you like since Petty Officer Israel is due back on duty, perhaps a quick tour of the base is in order do you not think?" She meant that for Margit as well, god only knew how long she may be staying here, so it would be an excellent chance for her to see what assets they had.

Noah took a bit to do some other stuff. Now it was time for him to get back on duty. Its just one of those days. Approaching the Gate Room, he knocked on the door and froze for a second. There were people in the room especially those of higher ranked than himself. He didn't want to barge in. Stepping aside beside the doorway, he placed his hands behind his back and stood to attention. They were having a nice conversation and the lower ranked petty officer didn't want to intrude.

Right on the button, the gate activated with the CO's Steward waiting patiently for her, dressed in her winter day uniform. "Commandant Berge, welcome to the Alpha Site." CMDT Berge, AdA

Aurore stepped onto the ramp in her OD green flight suit, with a small duffel bag over her right shoulder. On her left shoulder was her France flag patch, and under that was a patch in the shape of a top-down view of an F-302 in the colors of the French flag. On her right shoulder, she had the Alpha Site unit patch. A pair of black tinted aviator style sunglasses were tucked in at the top of the zipper of her flight suit. She took a look around before acknowledging Sakai.

"Thank you, Chief." She said, stepping clear of the ramp as soon as she could.

"I imagine that the Colonel is waiting, and I'd hate to be accused of being tardy on my first day." Aurore said with a grin.

It didn't take her long to return, it appeared that as well Noah was still off duty as one of the clerks were filling in for him. As Miki arrived, he went about pretending to be cleaning up his station. She laughed inwardly, these new breed of junior NCO's were so timid. A moment later she was dialing up, a moment after that she had the SGC. Miki began speaking as soon as her IDC went through. "Walter, this is Miki. We have a situation here as we informed you earlier, Colonel Bixby has along with staff found the best way to try and ease the burden on both our troops and that of the Cavaleiros, is to launch a preemptive strike on the Forerunner's homeland. By doing this we are effectively giving ourselves a way out of the Treaty. Josile is on board with this. Can you inform the Commander please."

Noah still hadn't returned, that wasn't a good sign. Miki wasn't though going to put him on report as she knew he was dealing with a few issues, she let it slide. Sitting down at the desk Mike dialed home, the auto cue on the computer doing it all for her at the touch of a key. Once the wormhole was established she began her transmission. "SGC this is Chief Petty Officer Sakai calling from the Alpha site. Do you copy/"

"I hear you Miki, go ahead."

That was a relief, Miki found it hard sometimes talking to Walter, she liked him a lot, but Cheryl had the capacity to listen to her at times not so good English. "Thank you Cheryl. We have the Forerunner Empress in hand, Colonel Bixby and Commandant Berge have asked if it is possible to have Agent Barrett come here to...to do the interview." She detested the word interrogation as her grandfather had endured months of it during World War Two.

"I had him on the phone not too long ago, give me an hour or so and I'll see what we can do for you Miki. Cheryl out." The gate shut down, now all she had to do was wait.

The large team entered the gate room unaware they had just missed the perfect ride home, they had been a little delayed, returning some of the gear they had taken from the Alpha site hadn't used and changing in to a new set of Desert MARPAT cammies they had brought with them and left behind. Of course the Airman they had left their stuff with hadn't been to careful, there was a war on after all, which meant the team fell in to people putting on things that didn't fit because they were in the wrong pile. Harley approached the CPO. Removing her 8 point cover, the whole team wore them, they were a little bit motto, as they had a custom MCU-1 logo a little like sailors with baseball caps with their ship name on it. But it was nice to have a team uniform, as none of them actually had a patch on their shoulder at that moment. Plus they were all fed up of wearing their helmets and had strapped them to their packs.
"Hey Chief think we can get a ride to Earth? We had a bit of a delay getting out stuff back. Some Airman had tided it up. So basically misplaced everything."

Miki watched the MCU file into the gate room, they looked smart which was going to go down well with the SGC's new commander. "I'm waiting for Lieutenant Brownwell to dial back in, if she doesn't within the next five minutes or so I'll send you on your way, do you mind waiting?" She didn't want to overwork the girl, Miki felt sorry for Cheryl really, she had a huge responsibility on her hands, added with being a gate tech, there was much the young Lieutenant did that many took for granted.

She didn't have to wait that long, as the gate flashed back into operation almost as soon as the words were out of her mouth. The IDC came through immediately then Cheryl's voice.

"Miki, I've spoken to Agent Barrett, he says yes and will be here within an hour."

"Understood Cheryl, that is pleasing news. I'll inform them immediately. Oh and the MCU is enroute back to the SGC, I'll need to shut down and redial." She gave Harley and okay wave.

 "Copy that. SGC out."

Miki shut her end down, waiting a moment or two then redialed back. "Just send your IDC through before you take that step Captain and good luck. I know we'll see you all again."

MCU-1
Captain Harley Lawler - USMC
1st Lieutenant John Spencer - USMC
1st Lieutenant Alexander Ramirez - USAF
Lieutenant JG Jane Iles - USN
Gunnery Sergeant Bradley Cooper - USMC
Staff Sergeant Tony Espisito - USMC
Sergeant Patrick Rayes - USMC
Sergeant Ruby Miranda - USMC
HM Corpsman 2nd Class Timmothy O’Brian - USN
Corporal Martin Grant - USMC
Corporal Harold McGraw - USMC
Corporal Josh Patterson - USMC
HM Corpsman 3rd Class Stephen Edwards - USN
Lance Corporal Pablo Garcia - USMC
Lance Corporal Karl Abraham - USMC
Lance Corporal Thomas James - USMC
Lance Corporal William O’Hera - USMC
Lance Corporal Robert Simpson - USMC
Lance Corporal Walter Manning - USMC

Harley nodded as she pulled out her GDO. Of course not everybody had GDO's on the team, that many GDO's off world was to much of a risk. She put in their code and nodded to the team as they stated to go through in pairs. Again, they had learnt if they all tried to go through they ended up falling over each other on the other side of the gate.
"Thanks Chief." Said Harley as she went through

Watching them leave Miki waited until they had been gone more than a minute, then once she saw that green light to say all of them had crossed the SGC event horizon, she shut the gate down. A minute after that she was on the intercom. "Colonel Bixby, Commandant Berge, I have spoken with the SGC, Lieutenant Brownwell has informed me that Agent Malcolm Barrett will be here within an hour."

The Stargate opened once again, Miki receiving Earth's IDC, a moment later a familar suited man walked through carrying a brief case with the obvious bulge under his left side jacket. "I know the way Miki. We'll talk soon." He said to her as he went out the left side exit.

<<From CO's office>>

It had been an extremely busy two days but in the end it looked as if peace was going to preside over the Alpha Site for a while longer yet. That had the effect of creating what was felt to be a much lighter mood everywhere especially given that outside an early Spring thaw was taking place giving a cheery mood to things. Miki settled into her chair before dialing up the SGC. Once the puddle settled she sent her IDC then transmitted immediately. "SGC this is the Alpha Site. We have a request from Commandant Berge; she requests that if you have any missions needing an SG team she'd be grateful for your assistance."

*Radio*

"Alpha site this is Walter Harriman. I'll confer with either the Admiral or Lieutenant Brownwell and call you back as soon as I can. SGC out." It wouldn't take long. Miki went to make herself some tea.

As Walter promised the gate was dialed again, though he sent an encrypted message this time, which suited her. She deciphered it quickly, read it, deciding to send a message back to Michelle's office rather than have to go up and most likely return again. She pressed the intercom. "Colonel, Major. I have a reply from the SGC, Admiral McRaven is in fact asking us that we send SG7 back to Earth as they do have a mission ready for them."

"I assume as soon as Colonel McGreggor arrives." Nikolai replied.

"If that's the case, Chief, we'll go hit up the armory and report back. I'd like to at least show up like we're ready to go than looking like a bunch of ROTC kids showing up on Take Your Kid To Work day."

"The what now?" Stan asked.

"Cadet corps. C'mon, let's go." Brian said.

On his way down Ben ran into a couple of mates, lads who were staying behind. There was the typical Aussie banter of course but they were sad to see him leave. With that out of the way he headed down swiftly to the Control room coming in through the rear door. He wasn't surprised to see SG-7 there. "Well I imagine you all heard the news then? Looks like we're heading in the same direction after all doesn't it?" He tapped Miki lightly on the shoulder. "Dial it up for us Chief."

"Yes Colonel San and please when you get home convey my best to your family for me." She tapped out the codes getting the gate up and running. From one to seven the chevrons locked in place. She sent the IDC through. "Walter you have Lieutenant Colonel MacGregor on the way..." She looked up at Brian. "...Captain you and your team are proceeding through as well?"

 "You're clear Miki."

"You all may proceed now and good luck to each of you." She told them.

"I believe they are Miki and thank you I will." He left the control immediately, going home at last.

"We'll be right behind him. SG-7, let's just grab what we can and we'll steal the rest from the SGC." Brian said.

Sure enough, the team was quick to just make off with the weapons they intended to bring, the rest would come out of the SGC's stockpiles. They just barely made it behind Ben.

"Keep the lights on, we'll be back soon." Brian said with a wave and stepped through with his team once they were cleared.

Miki counted out the time she knew it would take, then waited just a little longer after that to satisfy herself it was safe to leave. She placed the gate on idle so that if it was dialed in from anywhere she'd get a warning giving her enough time to return.

The gate burst into life followed by a familiar face. Alex walked down the ramp then directly to the control room finding a young naval rating there in place of Miki. "Excuse me son, Chief Sakai is expecting me, can you guide me to where I might find Colonel Bixby please."

Noah yawned. When Miki left the room all to him to watch after, Noah snuck in to watch the gateroom. He was out among the woods exploring a bit. The man wasn't involved in any fight because his responsibility was to stay behind in the base. When Miki left the gateroom for a bit, Noah was called back. Now he was regretting not sleeping for a bit, so he took a few seconds to snooze.

When the gate blasted wide open with the puddle doing its whoosh thing, Noah jerked his head up and stood to attention watching a somewhat familiar man step out from the even horizon. Toggling the newcomer's image in his head to figure out who the guy was, Noah gulped remembering his name.

He responded standing to attention, "Uhh, one moment sir."

Pressing the radio, he inquired clearly, "Colonel Bixby. Petty Officer Israel. Can I have your location, Ma'am? Someone is here to see Chief Sakai."

Waiting for a reply, Noah wasn't quite sure where she was exactly. Time seemed to fly and perhaps the Colonel was elsewhere at the moment. During that period of time, a theme song appear in his head. Subconsciously, he started humming softly to himself. It was a song he heard that he couldn't get rid of.

Michelle had just been headed down to grab a quick bite after having checked in with Lanam and Rachel to make sure all was well and before she got called out again when she heard Noah's call over the speaker.  That was a bit odd, but right now she wasn't worried about it.  She would deal with that later.  Michelle grabbed up her radio.  "On my way, petty officer," she said, turning around to head for the gate room.

Michelle was a bit curious about who would have shown up and why they were looking for Miki.  Miki hadn't mentioned anyone coming.  Well, only time would tell.  She stepped into the gate room and headed for the control room where she knew Noah would be.  "Who is..."  Her words trailed off in shock.  "Alex?" she whispered.  She couldn't help herself as she nearly jumped into his arms.  "I can't believe you're here!"

"Thank you Noah!" Alex managed to get in before a Tigress crash tackled him. Not one to let an opportunity go by, he picked her up around the waist twirling her around once before putting Michelle down in a loving embrace then he stepped back at an arms length. "In the flesh my dear, in the flesh." he leaned into her ear whispering. "God I've missed you Miche'." Standing back he had to give the woman he adored a good once over, still the same even if she had lost a kilo or two. "You look divine, now is there somewhere we can talk privately as I have so much to say."

Michelle barely noticed Noah there as she was still shell shocked to see Alex standing in front of her.  How she had missed him.  He was her rock and the one thing that held her together.  She laughed a bit.  "Oh good, it's not my imagination."  She barely managed to hold back tears as he held her at arm's length.  He looked good.  The time away had done wonders for him.  She nodded.  "My office."  She turned to Noah finally.  "I will be in my office.  Unless there is an emergency get in touch with Miki or Aurore for anything that is needed."  She knew she should use formal titles but right now she didn't care.

Noah looked at both of them and nodded at the Colonel, "Yes, ma'am." He was happy to be of service. Taking his place at the chair, he monitored his station and awaited the return of Chief Miki. She may have a few stern words for him, but he was ready. Probably.

With a sigh, he muttered softly, "I could probably use some food by now."

Shaking his head in amusement Alex told her gently. "No, not your imagination at all dear." Now being effectively a civilian he could throw protocol right out the window, with in this case the window being that great big Stargate. He put his arm around her slender waist without hesitation. "This will take a while Miche', as I said there is much for me to tell you. Lead the way." With his free hand he held it out in front of her.

While running was still a task for Alex on his new leg, he made excellent time in getting back to the gate room as excited as a puppy with a bone in his mouth. He all but burst into the control room. Seated behind the desk, Noah was nodding off a bit. When Alex came up with a request, the boy got up with a start and nodded preparing to dial up the gate, "Yes, sir!"

Soon as he started pushing buttons and dialing the gate, he started to feel a bit depressed. A bit of a longing was gnawing inside him. Pressing the final button to activate the gate, he spoke with a clear Aussie accent into the intercom, "This is Petty Officer Israel calling the SGC. Commodore Whitmore is asking for Commander Francis McCarthy on the line soon as possible. Is he available?"

Leaving the line open, Noah waited for a reply. Uttering a low sigh, he stared at the glowing puddle like effect of the open Stargate feeling a bit sad.

He waited for a few moments till Walter spoke again and Noah replied, "He can wait," Slightly distracted, he looked at the Commodore and gulped responding with a question while the radio was on, "I think?" He shrugged hoping Alex was okay with that. It was just a five minute wait.

Far too anxious to get things done quickly Alex jumped into the other chair getting his face in the camera. "Sorry Noah." He excused himself then plowed on. "Fran how are you? The answer to your question is yes indeed and in fact your presence if possible. As you know already Michelle Bixby and I have been engaged for some time now and if it weren't for the inquiry I had to endure these last six months we would have been married. Since I have a twenty four hour window I wanted to ask if you think you might be able to come over to the Alpha Site and marry us this afternoon, that'd be your night time of course." "It can be done Alex, provided two things are set in place first up. Since Michelle is under the Command directly to Admiral McRaven, she and you will need to make a formal request under the Department of Defense Marriage guidelines for serving personnel article 7a. Noah can provide you with the form. If you can fill that out and get it back to me, we can set the wheels in motion. The second thing that needs to be done under my rules is a notice of intent to marriage. Normally this is a 30 day notice, but under the circumstances I do have the authority to waiver that time. Do you think you can manage that?"

"Very well then Fran. I'll get this done on both accounts and get back to you quickly. Say in an hour?" Time was marching on.

While he waited for Fran's reply he spoke to Noah. "Can you print out those forms for me please Noah and a copy of the file the good Chaplain is sending you please."

Another sigh. Noah wasn't exactly sure on what he could help with as he was just a middleman apparently according to Fran. A few buttons here and there. Soon, the forms were printed out which Noah handed to Alex, "Yup. Forms printed out and the copy of the file from the Chaplin to you. Good luck, sir." Paperwork. With the three forms printed Alex made sure he didn't smudge them as they were now a part of what would be his future, documents to be added to the memories when both he and Michelle grew old together; something he was more than looking forward to. "You've been a great help Noah and I really appreciate that." He told him. His excitement was too much in the forefront of his mind though, there was still much to do. "I'll be back in an hour, hopefully by that time everything will be set-" He paused in thought, now there was an idea since he effectively knew no one else on the Alpha Site. "-say Noah, you can think on this if you like as I have to get these papers to Michelle. How would you like to be my best man?" He left him with the question as he ducked out hurriedly to see his future wife.

"Umm..." Noah murmured watching him leave. He was speechless. Literally without words. His best man? It was quite the honor, but the one he wasn't sure if it was proper for him to become one. A best man was usually reserved for a person who's a relative or a close mate. They didn't know each other that well, so he wasn't sure if it was proper. Of course, he had time to think about it for about an hour...
