Sarah frowned slightly as it seemed like everyone was having questions or complaints about the orders that Sean had just issued.  That didn't make sense to her.  You didn't question a superior unless you had extremely good reason and she was sure that Sean had his reasons for either splitting or adding members to teams.  That was one thing she did know about him.  He didn't do things without a reason.  He was by the book and thought everything through.  Too bad she hadn't followed suit and kept her heart in tack. Down girl.  Now is not the time to think about the past, she thought.

Sarah noticed Donovan step back and SecNav receive a dirty look as well.  Sheesh, what was going on here?  Of course it wasn't her place to say anything.  She tried to catch Sean's eye to see if there was anything he wanted her to do to make things easier on him with everyone throwing demands and concerns his way while they all wanted to get a move on to help SG-7 before it was too late.

Spook nods salutes and responds "Come on Cal let's go find Satterfield" Doing a quick heel turn she takes off again heading out of the room to go find the person she is suppose to find.

<<Captain Jen Hayley>>

Jen stands there waiting for instructions and gives Colonel Mitchell a quick salute and smile.

So Robert was heading out to find his wife and Lena's old friend Cate? Or at least find out what the heck happened to her, why she had vanished? A prick of comrade's jealousy stung her somewhere deep in soul as Elena would want to help Hughes in his search of course, but SG-4's orders were different, that is absent, at the moment. So she just whispered to Captain as he left the room.

"Good luck, Rob, go show them all..."

As the people were leaving the briefing room to get to their duties, she couldn't help but noticing how slacky this operation at SGC has gotten recently. Perhaps the change of command with Sean in charge would make it a military base again, not a daycare playground. The weird man who tried to stay in shadows intrigued her, and even made Lena wary, but if he was present here, then it probably was little to worry about, but Fred's behaviour made her groan subtly and facepalm, muttering under her breath that you first follow your order, then after it's carried out, you question it if you still feel like it.

Bickering with an admin is like fighting a dragon. You gave him a good kick, poked his eye with your sword and already are aiming to cut his throat open, when the dragon gets tired and finally breathes out.

Calleigh nods as she looks and she follows her best friend down the hall and follows right at her heels. "Find who may I ask? I guess I don't have to understand everything huh?" She keeps right up with her going to get to the elevator.

Spook presses the button for the elevator bouncing on the balls of her feet looking over at Cal responding "Well Major Satterfield is one of the higher ranking officers you seen around remember?  All we have to do is find Major Satterfield and head back up here all three of us fast as possible." Turning Spook sees the red head from earlier now heading from outside the Base Commander's Aide's door toward the briefing room and getting a hold of Cal's arm pulls her over to where she can see him too responding "Wonder who that red head is down there waiting to speak to the Major.  He looks rather nervous to me."

<<Captain Horatio Alan Caine>>

Horatio heads down the hall and into the briefing room and straight over to Major Devlin stopping in front of her and saluting holding the salute.

Lt. Gen. Jack O'Neill, USAF (NPC)
Secretary of the Navy Ramon Mobius (NPC)

There was little doubt in Sean's mind that Robert was silently questioning the sudden change in the roster, but the admiral had his reasons.  Of course, he didn't necessarily have to disclose them, either. "Good luck, Captain," was all he could manage before that little discreet sign of disrespect Fred gave to SecNav. Mobius also caught this and simply glanced at Sean.  Shrugging apologetically to his superior, Sean gave Fred his undivided attention for the moment.

"It's understandable you would want to celebrate your friend receiving the Medal of Honor, Major.  But I won't be the one handing out any punishment detail, either.  I'll leave that up to Colonel Sanderson to decide.  And while I understand you'd like to have SG-Eight as a reserve unit as a backup on this mission, request denied.  There's no telling just how much firepower - or men - this warlord on Thedif has.  And this isn't considered a special operations mission, either.  This is a snatch-and-extract, use of deadly force authorized to defend yourselves and SG-Seven.  The reason why I wanted Lawler's team to go with you is because they can provide the necessary cover fire and keep this warlord's head down long enough for you and your team to make the actual extraction from his compound.  SG-Eight's a heavy combat unit. I intend to send a clear message to this warlord that I won't tolerate any of the men and women under my command being held hostage against their will.  I want you, Major, to send that message on my behalf by taking down this warlord and as many of his men as possible, then destroy his compound once all three SG teams are clear."

"And if it comes down to where you *do* need a reserve unit to come bail you out of trouble, well..."  He pointed at Elena, then at Donavan.  "I'm sure that won't be a problem on this end."

Cam listened intently and still found himself wondering what he was doing here. With a sharp intake of breath, Cam made his way over to the Admiral.

Admiral Davidson if I may have moment of your time.  Colonel Cameron Mitchell, formerly of SG-1 Sir. I've been on leave and am just returning to duty."

Cam held out his hand.

Sean then turned to the newcomer - Colonel Mitchell - and he grabbed the other man's hand and shook it.  "Certainly, Colonel, what can I do for you?"

While Sean was busy, Jack sidled up next to Fred and gave the Brit a friendly nod and smile.  "I know you don't like having to babysit, Rivers," he said quietly. "But I think the Admiral's right in this case.  We don't have enough intel on this 'warlord', or on the size of his forces.  Having a warlord rally the Free Jaffa to his side and violently oppose any further diplomatic talks won't do us any good.  Admiral Davidson is taking a calculated risk by having SG-Eight go with your team, but he's counting on you to maximize that warlord's risks with the added firepower.  He wants that compound destroyed after you spring SG-Seven, and that's quite a tall order for a mere four individuals.  Bringing in SG-Eight makes that task a lot easier. You can be the one to pull the trigger on the warlord if you want.  Just make sure all three teams get back here safely after you've completed the objectives you've been given."

Mobius, meanwhile, walked up to Donavan and stood next to him.  "Something seems to be on your mind, Mister Lee.  There's no need to carry that burden alone."

Mjr Fred Rivers

Fred accepted the Admirals order, Hell he even respected him, which is why it bugged him so much that everybody thought he was disrespectful because of his casualness.
"Aye sir." he said nodding a little as he turned to leave but was intercepted by jack, he just nodded.
"Yeah I get it sir, I just didnt understand what the Admiral wanted." he smiled and shrugged a little.
"Guess thats what you get when you dont have a proper briefing." he said walking down to the gate room

Sean then turned to the newcomer - Colonel Mitchell - and he grabbed the other man's hand and shook it.  "Certainly, Colonel, what can I do for you?"

Cam made sure that his handshake was a strong one. "Now that I am no longer with SG-1 I feel like I am treading water. I know that I am ready to return to duty and would like to be reassigned Sir."

Once again in the background, other than the Admiral's reference to him being reserve, he kept himself as unobtrusive as he could, though he did catch the odd looks he was getting.  With his current attire, and lack of any identification besides the visitor's pass on his breast pocket clip, he had little wonder he hadn't been cornered before hand. He was doubly surprised he'd managed to evade the fawning Lt who'd served as his impromptu escort until now.  He actually felt a little guilty for having just up and left the poor girl on the other level, but when he'd been given orders, habit had taken over and he hadn't considered his current status among these other enlisted figures.

As even more people came and left, he thought back to the days of the SGC he knew, and how busy it always seemed even then.  This seemed different; they had other nationalities present for one, and he saw far more civilian presence than when he'd been here. He had known the Tau'ri were a fractious civilization, how not with so many people on one planet, but until he'd been out in it, he hadn't truly appreciated the trouble such a gap in culture could produce in a people who lived together.  He couldn't conceive of a world so at it's own throat, until he'd been thrust into it.

Now he saw that even with a common ground, those same nationality differences served to further the rifts between cultures, rather than strengthen them, and internally sighed. So much conflict within, how did they ever think to make an impression of unified strength to an outside force? He tired his best to keep his face blank, to keep such wandering thoughts to himself.  He was a guest here, even after all these years, and no matter how much he tried to fit in, it was scenes like this that reminded him how much of an outsider he was.

When the SecNav addressed him directly once more, he resisted the urge to flinch. He hadn't meant to be so obvious, but then again he'd been told multiple times he was pretty obvious.

"Apologies, Sir.  I hadn't meant to cause a fuss coming back here."  He shifted faintly out of the at-ease posture to reach up and scratch behind an ear, lowering his voice "I suppose you already know about my active duty status.  I had nowhere else to go."  His face tightened some and he straightened again. "But I don't expect any special treatment, Sir.  In fact I would rather go through the regs just like everyone else.  Last thing the Admiral needs is questionable characters wandering around.  I'd feel more comfottable knowing all the I's had dots, Sir."

It seemed like everything was coming together.  She listened to Fred and Sean and smiled a bit when everything easily got sorted out.  That was better.  At a time like now they didn't need to be having problems.  They had to move quickly.  Although she caught SecNav watching her and Sean from time to time and wondered if he something on his mind.  She didn't think that her or Sean had done anything, so maybe it was just her imagination.  She was seeing things in the dark that weren't really there.

Sarah quickly set Sean's coffee down on a desk close to her and returned Horatio's salute.  "Captain Caine," she said, dropping her hand back down to her side.  "Good to see you." She had been a bit surprised though when he had walked up to her.

Horatio drops the salute once it is returned responding "Good to see you too Major Devlin ma'am.  I knocked on your office door first but got no answer.  Captain Darkness told me you all were in here." He still stands at attention not wanting to get in trouble.

"At ease," Sarah told Horatio.  "And yes, after we heard about SG-7, the Admiral called us all here to sort things out." She had nearly messed up and called the Admiral Sean.  Of course he would always be Sean to her.  "Is everything alright, Captain?  You seem a bit nervous."  It wasn't like Horatio to be so nervous and Sarah was also wondering why he had been looking for her.

<<Captain Horatio Alan Caine>>

He moves to parade rest responding "I heard something about one of the teams in trouble." He shifts just a tiny bit before responding "Just nervous about this assignment ma'am. And a bit antsy to see someone on base well a few people actually but one in particular to be honest. Now I understand that I'm supposed to be announced to the Admiral by you, correct?"

<<<from command bunker>>>

Larkin Quinn

Larkin strolled into the briefing room alone. This was the first time since she's been on Earth that she was without Adia. She really had no idea what she was doing. Back in Pegasus with the Atlantis crew she came and went as she pleased. She knew nothing of this world or anyone either. Adia was her only friend and the most she could hope for was a good assignment to help with this cause and good trusting people.
