SGC- Briefing Room
« on: March 27, 2018, 07:00:01 PM »

For the moment Albert was doing nothing lately but primarily winging it. After another round of saving the galaxy once again, with of course other teams and units, SG9 had been given another week of leave to enjoy themselves. That wasn't for him though, too often bored with taking time off with few side interests, he dropped by the Briefing room just to see if there was anything at all he might be able to fill the time in with. It was late, well after midnight, though for him that was nothing at all. He knew someone might be up and about with his hunch proving him right when he heard voices coming from the CO's office. He sat at the large table, not before taking a look through the large bay window of the office to see Jack O'Neill and Admiral McRaven talking together.

If Jon had disliked being a teenager at home the first go round, he wasn't much fond of it now. Too many years of living on his own, being his own person, and making decisions for himself had ruined him for nice people's company, even people as nice as Sophie and Kim.

Besides, he was on a quest to recover all of the yoyos that he - the Old Guy - had hidden around the SGC in an effort to never, ever be bored no matter where he was.

But apparently someone - maybe even the Old Guy - had done away with most of them, so he was down to hunting through the most arcane hiding places, like under the coffee table in the briefing room.

As he approached, he heard voices: McRaven and the Old Guy.

Then he spotted his CO, Reynolds, and he paused. Should he announce his presence, or no? Reynolds wasn't looking at him.

As Jack made his way quickly for the stairs, he spotted Jon and Albert.

"Hey, if you two aren't going anywhere, especially to bed, you might want to stick around to hear this. We've...got a bit of a problem. Be right back." Jack said, stopping only for a moment before making his way to the stairs.

"Check the bottom of the projector's shelf." Jack called out as he started down the stairs.

Stick around? Jon knew that tone in the Old Guy's voice. Something fun and exciting (and most likely dangerous and disturbing) was on the table for his participation. Excellent.

But he nodded respectfully and said, "Yes, sir," like the young pup he was (ish), and as soon as the Old Guy's back was turned, he made a beeline for the projector.

He poked around and found the bright blue fancy yoyo he'd hidden there ages ago. He scooped it up, inspected it, then straightened up, looked at Reynolds.

"Couldn't sleep, sir? Or is a little bit of they also serve who only stand and wait?"

Albert looked up from his thoughts, fingers intertwined as Jack rushed through stopping only very briefly to speak to both he and Nealson. The younger version of O'Neill had caught him off guard completely, Al didn't even realize he was there yet everything fell into place when he saw after Jack's comment the Marine went rummaging through the lower section of the projector shelf for something his eye missed. "No intention of going anywhere General I wanted to-" He couldn't finish what his mind wanted to say as the older man was off again downstairs.

"A little of both really Lieutenant. Essentially I had stayed up far too late going over old mission files then when I really wanted to go to sleep I kept laying there looking up at a dark ceiling wondering where all this activity we've had in the last few months is leading to." He paused a moment to unlock his fingers that were threatening to cramp up on him. "Now it appears my worst visions have come full circle doesn't it?" His head leaned towards where O'Neill had just vanished to. "What about yourself?"

{Capt. Brian Coffin}
{Astrid Lofquist}

Brian came up the steps first, with Astrid right behind him. The two of them set their rucksacks nearby out of the way before finding seats. The CRO didn't recognize either of the other two in the room, but likely no one here knew him either.

"Captain Brian Coffin, SG-7. This is Astrid Lofquist, our team's electronic tech specialist. Our other three are still at the Alpha Site." Brian said.

Jack made his way up the stairs, "Get comfy, we're gonna see who else shows up, and then get to buisness. But it's bad news all the way around. Might want some coffee if you didn't plan to be up right now." Jack said before re-entering McRaven's office.

Jon slipped the yo-yo into his pocket and turned to face his CO. "Sometimes I'm a bit of a night-owl myself, sir. It's hard to be cooped up at home with other people when..."

He cut himself off when two strangers entered the room.

After they introduced themselves - an officer who outranked him, a civilian scientist - he nodded politely, then cut a glance over to his CO to let him lead the introductions if he so desired.

With his mouth open to speak, Albert grumbled loudly when his phone started that annoying buzz in his pocket. Pulling it out forcefully he almost dropped it before he could read the incoming text message, catching the thing in mid fall. Sighing he closed it after a quick read, as usual another apparent threat to the world and life as he knew it. No new revelation there, though at least he had a handle on what the briefing was to be about. He closed his eyes for a second tilting his head back as he realized just how clairvoyant he was becoming.

Standing, Albert reached out his hand. "Colonel Al Reynolds SG-9, the young Marine here with me is Second Lieutenant Jon Nealson. Pleased to meet you both." He had heard something of Seven's activities on the Alpha Site, quite impressive as he thought back to some of the stories going around.

His attention momentarily went back to Jon even as he heard boots approaching from the Control room. "Its the pace of our work son, we are awake when we should be sleeping, sleeping whenever we can. The body clock goes awry under those circumstances."

Jack arrived while Al still had his hand out. "I read the text message General, another save the world scenario by the looks of it." He gave his head a quick shake to the offer of coffee, he'd been downing the stuff all evening to the point catching a snooze now was impossible.

Having the next day off, William decided to take in a late night showing of the latest Science Fiction movie at the theater in Colorado Springs. He had just entered the foyer when his phone alerted him to a message from the SGC. Standing off to the side, he read the message and then read it a second time.

It was an odd mission, even for the Stargate program. It was a volunteer mission, but his curiosity was peaked. After grabbing a large Coke and a box of candy from the concession stand he left for the base.

As he entered the briefing room, he saw several others had already shown up. The inclusion of General O'Niell gave him a hint as to the seriousness of everything.

Level 18 - Daniel Jackson's Lab

In the lab, artifacts and the notes cluttered the room. There were piles of artifacts on one side of the room while stacks of notes were on the opposite side. The computer rested on its own desk before the library of books within the shelf. In the middle of the room was the desk with more papers and several artifacts. Seated on the chair was Daniel, although, his head was on the desk. A drone of gentle snoring was heard from within his throat. His drool gathered into a puddle on his desk.

Mumbling in his sleep, he smacked his lips as the lamp light shone on his face. Suddenly, his phone buzzed vibrating the desk. It continued to buzz causing the phone to drive on its own as it leered toward the edge of the desk. Daniel groggedly opened his eyes and noticed his phone on the edge of the desk.

Alerted, he reached for his phone and grabbed it before it fell but not before brushing his notes aside. A metal artifact fell from his desk and clattered on the floor. Its loud sound reverberated on the ground causing him to mutter closing his eyes, dammit...

Exhaling a sigh, he picked his phone and read the text. It talked about an important mission requiring some volunteers. Having nothing else to do on his spare time looking through new artifacts he found from Tagrea, he decided to check it out in the briefing room. Pocketing his phone, he rummaged through his notes before placing them into the folder. Grabbing the folder, he got up and bent down to retrieve the fallen artifact.

Tossing it up into the air, he caught it expertly while straightening out his back and placed the folder under his arm. Grabbing his glasses, he put it on and rushed out of his lab to head toward the briefing room. On the way, he started whistling.

Hangar Level - Garage

Taer's head was inside the hood of his silver 2011 Dodge Charger R/T. Hand's covered with black grease and holding the metal rod on one hand, he tuned the engine. His body and muscles were chiseled showing how much he worked to keep his physique in top shape. His average form and his tendency to explode things caused his fellow team members to see him as a tank and sometimes called him Taer because he could literally "tear" things apart without much of an effort. He was a strong marine and a solid team leader.

He was back to the SGC from the Alpha Site briefly. While his SG team were out on their leave, Taer decided to stay back and hang around the base for a bit. At the moment, he was focused on his car to get it ready for a joy ride around the Cheyenne Mountains.

He had other cars in a garage somewhere. However, he preferred the 2011 Dodge. Placing his hand on the hood, he grunted while pulling with his other hand on the wrench to tighten the bolt. The phone vibrated on the back of his pocket. Exhaling, he pulled his head out of the hood and grabbed his phone.

Turning it around, he clicked on the text and read it. With his curiosity piqued, he gripped the hood and unlatched the rod from the hole before closing it. Grabbing the towel, he wiped the grease off his face and hands before tossing it on the floor and walking out of the garage. Pocketing his phone, he casually reentered through the doorway and headed toward the elevator

SGC Briefing Room

Daniel continued to whistle as he walked around the hallway. With his folder underarm and holding the priceless relic on his other hand, he walked around the corner and nearly collided with another man. Almost dropping the relic, he mumbled, "Ah, excuse me. I'm headed toward the briefing room."

A light thud hit Taer's blocky form barely caused him to move. He just looked to his side and quickly grabbed the metal relic before it fell off the Archeologist's hand. Taer responded casually, "Doctor Jackson. No problem. I'm on my way there."

"Hmm, you got the same text?" Daniel inquired. After a casual, slow nod from the big man, Daniel replied, "Sorry. I didn't catch your name."

Taer casually smiled and responded, "Captain Taariq Amir. You can call me Taer. We met briefly back in a briefing somewhere. I don't remember."

DAniel nodded, "Ah, well. I didn't remember. I get preoccupied."

The two men stood there before the doorway staring at each other for a few moments waiting. Taer finally replied with a casual, toothy smile with his arm toward the door, "After you, doctor. I won't bite."

"right" Daniel mumbled accepting his invitation to enter the briefing room first with the captain following him shortly.

Jon glanced at his CO. "I'll have you know that my internal clock runs as fine as any Swiss watch, thankyouverymuch."

Then he spotted the Old Guy again, dipped his chin in acknowledgment.

Two more people stepped into the room, and Jon said, reflexively, "Daniel."

 A thump signaled Cate's arrival as her combat armored laptop hit the table. One by one she took in the faces, all known to her at some point. Troy was on her team, Jon Nealson aka Jack Jnr aka 'The Nugget' she knew from his visits to her mother's place in Springs, as well as a few bumpings in the vast halls of the SGC over the last six months. Reynolds she knew very well having worked with his previous team SG3 and once with SG9. Daniel Jackson of course Cate knew very well, their history went back almost four years now. Captain Amir she met just once, a likable man as far as she knew. The two from SG7 she had never met, yet Cate knew their faces from her research into a few local defence options she had been working on for the Alpha site.

 Pulling out the chair that placed her next to William with Reynolds to her left, she sat heavily as if she was completely drained. Mentally she was, the last twenty minutes had exhausted her mind as she did all she could as quickly as possible to produce the figures she had come up with. She cordially greeted everyone with a 'hi' or a 'g'day', even if it was well after midnight. Reynolds being the exception, he got 'Colonel'.

 Clearing her throat, Cate opened her laptop, turning it on by reflex. "Colonel Carter will be here soon. I don't know how many more are coming, but I'd like to ask you all what your feelings are on the possibility that this might well be a one way mission." She had her reasons for asking, they would find out soon enough.

{Capt. Brian Coffin}

{Astrid Lofquist}

"A pleasure, sir. Lieutenant." Brian said to each of them.

"Speaking of time, what time is it? Astrid commented, checking her watch. From their perspective, it was only around 0930 or so, they left only right after breakfast. She then got up to help herself some of the coffee, but already was longing for her personal coffee maker at the Alpha Site. One benefit of having Swedish and French troops at the Alpha Site was that one did not have to suffer the sludge that the US military found acceptable. It was a source of amusement to Brian that both Astrid and Denis were coffee snobs, whereas Nikolai could care less and Doctor Grecko was a tea drinker. By that time, more and more people had shown up in the briefing room.

"I'd say you got plenty of volunteers in short order. And at midnight, too." Ian commented as he stepped out of the office.

"It's a risk we take every day, ma'am. Some days more than other." Brian said in response to Cate's question. He didn't know really too many people here, Brian had gone from training straight to the Alpha Site, and he didn't expect too many people knew a thing about SG-7. He recognized the Jordanian from SG-15, back from that mess with the Forerunners, and he knew of General O'Neill and Doctor Jackson by reputation only.

"What is this all about?" Astrid asked. She was not exactly thrilled with starting a briefing off this way, it struck the former Swedish Ranger as melodramatic.

"Yeah, so, we are quite literally up against the clock here. Some Goa'uld joker has decided to go back in time and mess with...time. To the point that according to the numbers that...Colonel Carter...has crunched says that we've got a very short while to sort this out and then bad stuff happens. Really bad stuff." Jack said. "You're going to probably be sent back in time to stop it, and this is purely voluntary. If you're not up for it, now is the time to back out."

Brian and Astrid glanced at each other, before looking to General O'Neill.

"Didn't get into this to back out. I'm good to go, sir." Brian said.

"Someone has to keep him out of trouble, then. I'm in." Astrid added with a smile.

Bryan jogged up the steps to reach the briefing room.  The text intrigued him and he was always up for learning and trying new things.  He slipped inside, not wanting to interrupt what was already being said.  He listened quietly as he moved to lean against a wall, wondering just what was happening.
