Major Fred Rivers

Fred nodded and then took a moment to notice her uniform and frowned, though he just assumed she was playing an OSS or SOE Agent who had been working with the french resistance, It wasnt uncommon for French Resistance to take trophies of their kills, it could be watches, weapons or uniforms. So he didn't question it as he turned and gave a nod to the General. For a short while they had been SG Team leaders together, and very little had changed at least for Fred since that time, he had gotten older and moved away from using a SA-80, that was about it. He then crossed the room to Colonel Reynolds.
"Colonel. Cate said I should talk to you about where to go."

<Briefing Room>

Jon straightened up, threw back his shoulders, caught MacGregor's eye.

"What? Floy floy. You're making like Hatfield's some kinda able grable, but honestly, she's a real swell dish. You know I'm not the kinda chucklehead who goes fishing on account of heading off to war. And you know she's not the kinda khaki wacky bird who'll try to get her mitts on the first nice pair of pegs and peepers that come her way." Then he cut a glance at Hatfield. "Right, Hatfield?"

Then he sobered up. He was going in as his own ancestor, mostly because he could mimic the man well enough the event someone did recognize him, with the story that he'd been borrowed from the 45th and sent to the border between Germany and Switzerland on account of his being a useful machine gunner and the kind of survival rate that made him both lucky and competent.

<Briefing Room>

"Welcome to the party, Major." Jack said, before hearing out Cate and Robyn, which then had to change to a glance at Jon, "Okay, now you're just sounding ridiculous. I really don't think your grandfather spoke entirely in slang." Jack said.

"No, sir. I wasn't told, just that I would be assigned to your entourage in England. Not that I would know, but the OSS did have a habit of grabbing anyone of use regardless of where they were." Brian said to Albert before turning to Fred with a nod, "Captain Brian Coffin, sir, SG-7. Except now I'm 1st Lieutenant Nick Tyler, 1st SSF."

"Okay, I see two things here. First of all, you're either going to Germany or you're going to England. We're not risking your only ride home because you all want to go sightseeing and end up the most unusual kill ever. Secondly, Cate, you are sounding less like you know this for sure and more like you're speculating a lot just so you can go like that. I want something concrete or your cover is going to change right now." Jack said.

"General, a possibility here is that we may need that. As I said, Herr Brasche's note does point out that this is found among our things, suggesting someone is going to be captured. Moreover, we can't exactly go wandering around Germany less than two weeks prior to the assassination attempt on Hitler asking for Standartenführer Brasche." Astrid pointed out.

"Wait, you didn't say anything about him being SS..." Jack started to protest.

"He's only SS because the Abwehr was folded into their organization following the arrest of Admiral Canaris. Which is rather sickening to our friend, but evidently, he's doing it to honor a promise made, and his personal honor is something he seems to take seriously. But, the implication is rather clear; we would be attracting a lot of attention by both the loyalists in the government and by those planning the assassination. Her somewhat flimsy cover may be ideal here." Astrid said with a shrug.

< Briefing Room >

Daniel had been in the briefing room, more quieter as usual. He knew he had to speak up at some point. Wearing the clothing that Ian Jackson would be suspected of wearing, he pushed in his new glasses. It was a new prescription close to the 1944 era that he would wear. He listened to everyone involved. Looking briefly at Jon, he barely hid his smile at his changed voice.

Clearing his throat, Daniel spoke up to add his own words, "I've had a chance to get to know more about the person I'm going as, but I am not entirely certain that our identities would correlate with our intended interpretation of them. While we might know them as our ancestors, but we haven't lived in their shoes as we are about to. In other words, we might not know them as well as we might think. We need to be careful. Act like that person lived in 1944 but don't overdo it or we will fall deeper into our own roles. And if we are going in groups, we should try to stay in groups. Just my suggestion."

Jon sobered. "Sorry, sir. I did learn it all from him, though. Sometimes when he got a little into his cups." He nodded at Daniel. "Best policy is to keep our heads down and our mouths shut, do our best not to futz with the timeline outside our mission parameters. I know Colonel Carter would have strong feelings about that. Very strong feelings."

All Reynolds could do was shake his head, albeit very imperceptibly as in no one might even notice his actions. So he did his best not to choke on the gum he had taken to chewing lately, he couldn't even remember why only that it did aid him in relaxing, helping him focus on the task at hand. "Glad you could join us Major, I mean that. As for your direction, you'll have the pleasure of being Flight Lieutenant Hatfield's escort for this dance, the both of you will be going to Alsace and from there you will work your way north east to Baden Baden which we believe maybe the location of at least several warehouses that need to be checked. General," There was the small matter of where to park the 401 and who will be the last aboard. Albert had found one likely spot which conveniently correlated with Nealson's direction. "Unless someone has another suggestion, there is an uninhabited area just north of Wittnau in Switzerland. Since Lieutenant Nealson will be operating from the Swiss border he along with Lieutenant Troy can take care of situating the ship where its most unlikely to be found. How's your mountaineering skills Lieutenant?" He completely missed what all the other fuss was about, putting that down to MacGregor's typical in your face attitude.

Last things. "You all have currency provided for your designated area of operation, if you have any and I mean anything even remotely related to this era, leave it behind. Money, even jewelry and watches." He looked up at Cate. "Leave the earrings behind MacGregor, your doppleganger wouldn't have been wearing them at all." Nor did he think eighteen carat gold was all that common back then. "I couldn't agree more with your reasoning Doctor Jackson. Being someone else is one thing, making slip ups where you might lapse back into yourself will see you dead." Blunt but true.

<Briefing Room>

 Finally Robyn managed to compose herself, slightly as she uttered the word "B*tch!" under her breath. She had never liked Cate really, it went right back to her days as a rookie pilot with MacGregor her lead instructor. They clashed then, they clashed years ago on the Dreadnought in Pegasus and she always did her best to avoid the woman. Bobbie did respect Cate for what she was and what she had done many times over, but she didn't have to like her. "Yeah right Jon." She wasn't in the best of moods, that showed amply by the frown on her face. Not that she was ever the life of the party, Robyn wasn't one of those chirpy women, the only exception was when she was with Kim, the two of them were like sisters really.

 Listening to the others intently, Bobbie nodded agreement at the right time, expressed her own sentiments regarding their ID's and was pleased to hear what the General said to Cate. He was right. Yet something dawned on her when Astrid spoke up, with Bobbie looking at MacGregor then back to Astrid. "Wait a minute. We have 18 days to pull this off, if we're still there when the crap hits the fan over the assassination attempt...." Anyone who had ever studied that history would know, the very female that Cate was going to impersonate was one of those implicated in that circle of German officers. Did Cate conveniently overlook that? "...this could be a problem."

 Cate heard Hatfield, it wasn't anything she had a problem with, she'd been called worse. Besides, she made her point. "General, I know this woman well, I could recite her history to you in my sleep. In fact, if for some reason during this little foray sir I ended up in Brazil, even her own family wouldn't suss me out. You know me sir, I don't do anything half hearted. I even have it worked out how to explain her sudden reappearance." She began tapping away furiously on her laptop, when she was done she turned it around to show Jack. "This is a deep water survey map I had the Apollo do just prior to us leaving. Its the area around Gotland. No one since the war had ever found her wreck even though some had tried. We did. Its located at 450 meters just slightly west of the island. The reason it was never found before is because of its angle and location, its partially buried within an under sea cavern, the front portion of the 262 is crushed. She would have died instantly."

 She then got her story in order, reciting it exactly as she had pitched it to Astrid not too long ago. "The both of us will be dropped off at Gotland where Astrid in the guise of her character will 'find' me in a rather disheveled and somewhat distraught, wet state on a beach. Even though Sweden maintained her neutrality throughout the war, there were some sympathizers with the Nazi cause and there were some the families of some of the Baltic German fishing fleet allowed to remain on the island. With that neutrality the Swedish authorities will allow Kaethe to be repatriated back to her homeland by boat. The two of us will proceed to Hamburg and begin our search from there; after of course reporting in to the local Luftwaffe command. I suppose they'll be chuffed to have her back." She never smiled once, just gave her discourse and left it at that. Glancing at Jon she quipped. "Sam would be telling each and everyone of us personally in no uncertain terms about futzing with the timeline."

Major Fred Rivers

Fred nodded to Reynolds as he was given his mission, deciding to get business out of the way as he glanced over his shoulder to Hatfield, somebody he knew by name and appearance alone. "Can do sir." He said looking back to Reynolds. "But dont expect me to play nice with the French." he added with a small shrug. He didnt view the French as cowards,  but it didnt mean he had to like them. He then turned to Captain Coffin and held out a hand to shake. "Nice to meet you Captain." He then made sure his following comment didnt sound to serious. "And dont call me Sir. I used to be an enlisted man and worked for a living, it still feels wrong." He said with a small smile. "And for this op my fake ID is Captain Harry Savage. British Commando who went missing during the St Nazaire Raid." He then quickly added. "He was confirmed killed after the war. So no fear of running in to him." He then added. "If anybody asks I took the long way trough through Spain, which is why I look like a re-en-actors nightmare." He had also sourced some Spanish money to go with his back story.  Though he had made sure it was accurate. But it wasnt like he was running around in spain and he had waterlogged them and torn the corners to fit with his story. So any imperfections would be explained away.

Al looked up from his laptop, gave Fred a cheery face of 'this is what we do!'. "I don't expect you to Fred, just do whatever you feel right at the moment." They couldn't very well think for a moment they were going to fit in as if it was there time and place, it'd be the same the other way around if people from that era suddenly found themselves in the twenty first century.

By that time he knew there was no going back, he stood briefly then sat down again when the SG1 team member approached. "That would be Colonel Reynolds, Chief and you'll find Doctor Novak near the bridge with the Asgard core for the clothing issue and ID papers. Wing Commander MacGregor here can sort out your mission assignment." They were nearly done, only Jack had to finalize the last minute details and give Cate his blessing; if of course he didn't think of something else they hadn't covered.

<Briefing Room>

William entered the room in non-descript period clothing. He had been assigned to assist Lt Nealson in finding Allied Agents working behind the lines. For his part, he was posing as an OSS Agent, which should help in convincing others to answer his questions.

He didn't know much about the young Lt he was working with, but was sure he'd learn plenty during the mission.

Jon nodded at his CO. "My mountaineering is...mountain-y, sir." Then he looked at Lieutenant Troy and spoke quietly. "Anything you want to talk about after the briefing is done? Before the perfume hits the fan, preferably."

<Briefing Room>

Jack let out a frustrated sigh, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose before opening them again, standing up.

"Okay, okay. We've had plenty of time to do all the cautions and wave around who knows the most about the time period, so let's just let that go already. Now, as the guy with the stars, I'm telling you all now; we're not all going 30 different places. I want, without arguing with each other, in non-slang English, and without the details, you all to right now establish one thing and one thing only; who is going where?" Jack said.

"So far, I've heard London, Northern Germany and Switzerland. And we are about ready to start this trip, so let's get to the chase, because if we miss our window because we had to fuss more than your mothers on your first day to school, I'm going to be really really REALLY upset. Really." Jack added. "After that, you should all stick together in your groups, hold hands if you have to, and make your way to the flying time traveling bus."

<Briefing Room>

 Cate wore a rather smug look, Robyn on the other hand looked as if she could eat razor blades. For the mere fact that in Jack's little 'get your act together' speech he completely forgot about the subject at hand where those two were concerned, namely Cate's 'Identität'. As far as she was concerned the matter was closed.

 Rather more importantly were the designated search areas and responsibilities. "General sir, Sam and I along with Colonel Reynolds.." A nod in his direction. "...and some help from the Pentagon Archives branch put together our best possible areas of interest. We coupled that with each volunteers abilities." From the top Cate recited each location and who was going where. "Colonel Reynolds and Captain Coffin will be going to London, their mission being twofold; firstly to convince Allied high command of who they are and to present our false orders for coordination of airstrikes to avoid out teams and their immediate locations. Secondly we believe Colonel Mitchell's doppleganger will be there working as an OSS agent, they need to find him as well."

 Rather than having to scan through her laptop, Cate committed everything to memory. Yes that was working well at the moment. "Lieutenants Nealson and Troy will be landing the ship last after beaming down each of us at our designated targets; Doctor Jackson will be going with them as our German speaker. Once they've secured the ship they are to make their way over the border immediately after an Allied bombing raid on Friedrichshafen Germany, its a distance of 160 kilometers, you'll have five hours to get there just prior to the raid. Once across the border you are to find a SS facility located somewhere in Ravensburg. That is one of our likely hiding places the gate 'might' be hidden. We believe from surviving records of the area it may be deep underground."

 By this time there was something akin to a fierceness that told anyone who knew her that now was not the time for playing around, this was serious business. "Major Rivers, you'll be point guard for Flight Lieutenant Hatfield as outlined by the Colonel. You'll enter from Alsace in France under the guise of Hatfield's identity searching for survivors of her family; from there to Baden Baden where another 'possible' warehouse location has been pin pointed for searching." That left herself, Astrid, Chief Morgan and Mike. The first was straight forward, but Cate was unsure what to do with the last two for the moment. Cooper did indicate he could speak German, perhaps at least he should go with Robyn and Fred to cover a larger area more quickly. Mike, she really wanted him to stay home, the last thing in the world she needed was to see Elle have a breakdown if something happened to him, especially after what the two of them have been through. What to do?

 In essence all Cate could do was press on, things had a way of sorting themselves out. "Chief, you'll be with Major Rivers and Robyn here, three sets of eyes and ears are better than two." At last she had something concrete. "As said earlier, Astrid and myself will be deep in it. With doing our most convincing best to look like I've just survived a crash, so with that added to where we're going, Mike I'd like you to come with us, if you're up for it. I will add this and I'm sure Astrid is already aware of it, apart from our search for Tefnut, we will also be throwing ourselves into a position to come under the attention of Herr Brasche's attention, we will be captured I'm sure." That was the plan at least. "Zero hour T minus twenty two minutes; if you're having second thoughts now is the time to speak."

 Robyn looked over at the woman, she certainly had her act together or was that just an act? No sane woman could actually want to be captured by the SS whether or not the man was a 'good guy'. As popular opinion went, Cate was insane. "I'm not backing out now." She said although not cheerily.
