< Briefing room >

Mjr Fred Rivers <Briefing Room.>

George and Fred shared a glance as Mike started pounding the coffee machine. George gave a little nod and Fred took a breath and walked out of the office and over to Mike. "Hey Mate." he said. "I get it, Better things to be doing. But." he shrugged. "Dont take it out on the Coffee machine ok?" he said...

Mike shot a glance at the Britt, “No worries sir, just checking its reflexes,” then took his steaming mug and shuffled back towards the rest of the medical team.

Kim shrugged her shoulders in her nonplussed way and simply smiled. She leaned closer to Carrie and Tim. "Maybe he'll perk up when the President arrives......oh crap, I wasn't supposed to say that!" She rolled her eyes as if to say, she wanted everyone to know.

2nd Lt Timothy “Tim” Foster

“The president!? Oh crap…” Carrie sighed, spit open her lab coat and looked down at her black, long sleeved tee and jeans, “I’ve got nothing else to wear than what I had when I came to work this morning. What the heck happened to a few days notice?”
Tim shrugged, “Seldom works that way. Probably a security issue or something.” He gave the Doc a head to toe look, “Kim’s right. You’ll do just fine.”

Once his office cleared out, Sean walked out to the Briefing Room and whistled loudly.  Someone heard him and said aloud, "Atten-tion!"  As soon as everyone - save for the civilians - stood at attention, the admiral addressed the room.

"VIP arrival in twenty-five minutes.  Make sure you're in dress blues and everything is in tip-top shape.  Then get to level seventeen and be in formation by the time I arrive.  You have twenty minutes.  Move."

Mike had managed to take a few sips of his black beverage when the call for attention came and with an inward mutter, he placed the mug on the nearest free surface and straightened up.
In the corner of his eye he saw Tim’s even faster response and he did his best to hide a small grin, that boy definitely needed to loosen up a bit.

A minute later and the orders where clear, down to quarters and try to dig out his dress blue, where ever that was. Mike couldn’t even remember when he’d last worn it. Graduation? Some ceremony when a colleague had gotten promoted? Oh well, it was down there… somewhere…
He once again grabbed his mug and started to mill out with the rest of the people when he heard her. He turned around and gave Elle a tired look, “I guess ‘Ok’ is a matter of definition,” waiting for the others to clear the room.

Carrie grunted as she let her self being led away out of the door by Kim, “Please don’t remained me of that.” The side effects of the concussion she’d acquired along with the cut hadn’t been very pretty, especially not on the president’s shoes.
Tim chuckled, “I’m sure that was an impression he’ll never forget.” He gave them a small nod, “See you later ladies,” and then he took off down the corridor in a sprint, ducking right in the first intersection, aiming for the stairs.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Major," Adia said smiling in return as she and Larkin walked beside him. "We are looking forward to having the opportunity to contribute to your cause."

"And we hope we can do a good job at it too," Larkin added. "Myself especially since I am not from this galaxy."

"I don't believe you Mike. You 'will' tell me later." Elle said softly; if there was one thing she was capable of and that was having Mike open up to him. But now was not the time; Elle was on level 25 and she had further to go than most and had to be as quick as she could. "I'll meet you on 17." She said and was off on her long legs.

"Honestly Carrie you look a picture. Mr Bomana and his wife will probably ask you to dinner at the White House." Kim said with that silly smile she sometimes wore. She to was one of the few who had anticipated the arrival and was already in her dress uniform. "I'll be your escort Doctor Svennson if your husband wouldn't mind. Speaking of him, shouldn't he be here?"

< Briefing room >

Mike looked at the retreating back of Elle. “Maybe I will…” he mumbled.
With the amount of time he’d expected they’d spend together in the nearest future, he figured he’d probably give in sooner rather than later he thought as he walked out of the door, still sipping the hot Espresso.

((OOC - Until the person I've asked to take over as Sarah gives me a definitive answer, she'll be an NPC for now.))

Maj. Sarah Devlin - (NPC)

Sean wasn't exactly expecting Fred to escort the two off-worlders to level seventeen; in fact, it seemed that the trio hardly heard him at all by the time he stepped out of his office.  He shook his head.  Offering to look after someone and escorting them aren't exactly the same thing, Major Rivers, he thought to himself.  By this time the last of the personnel had filed out of the briefing room; well, everyone except for Sarah.  She had largely kept out of sight, undoubtedly busy with her own duties now that she was unofficially Sean's new executive officer.  Craig Donovan had been in that role up until recently, and Sean had yet to know for certain what Craig's future plans were.  Rumor had it the man was wanting a position at the Pentagon, and having looked over his service records, Sean wasn't inclined on saying no.

She had obviously knew something was up as Sean caught sight of her in the hallway, already in her dress blues and her hair up in a bun.  Her cap was tucked under her left arm.  Sean knew that Sarah typically eschewed wearing skirts - in fact, he knew she didn't care much for dressing up, period - but the mere sight of her in her dress blues brought a smile to his lips.  Sarah stopped and executed a perfect left-face, came to attention and saluted the admiral.  Sean returned it, then smiled at her which she returned.  "Ready to greet our guests, sir?" she asked, dropping her hand to her side.

"Yes, Major, but there's one thing left for me to do," he replied.  He stepped over to the table and fiddled with the radio's frequency knob, then once the channel was clear he pressed the transmit button.

Maj. Sarah Devlin (NPC)

Sean pressed the transmit button again when Cheryl acknowledged his message.

<<Radio transmission to Level 17>>

"Have all personnel line up in formation for VIP inspection.  Major Devlin and I are en route to greet our guests.  Out."

With that he pressed the transmit button twice, sending two bursts of static over the channel to signal he was done speaking.  He glanced at Sarah, and she nodded at him.  "After you, sir," she said, waving him towards the door.

Sean nodded and walked out of the room, then once Sarah joined him he closed and locked the door.  She made sure to stay to his left as they proceeded down the corridor and towards the elevator, walking in tandem as their footsteps practically echoed.  It was a brief walk, thankfully, as Sean filed into the waiting elevator car first then Sarah.  She pressed the button for the appropriate level, closing the doors then felt the lift ascend towards the top.

Horatio walked down the hallway stopping right outside the door to the Base Commander's Aide's office and he knocks before sticking his head inside looking to see if anyone was inside the office before he enters.

<<from Briefing Room>>

Sean walked into his office and shut the door behind him.  He let out a long, put-upon sigh, indicating his frustration at the sudden turn of events.  It was just like that old adage, "If anything can go wrong, it probably will;" otherwise known as Murphy's Law.  He stepped up to his desk and looked through the rest of the unsigned orders yet to receive his signature.

There.  The only thing lacking were the orders to create the new crisis response team that he'd tried to form six months earlier; he had received a phone call from his old friend Jonesy that he was enjoying retirement, and had no interest in being pressed back into active duty.  Otherwise the other paperwork as all there, and Sean hastily signed them off before exiting his office.

Sean quickly found the orders for everyone else over in the briefing room, along with the appropriate rank insignias he needed that were in his desk.  Grabbing everything together, he exited his office then walked back out.

<<From Briefing>>

Entering as asked Donovan quickly stepped around the edge of the desk, avoiding the assortment of flags in the corner, and took at-ease once more facing the large desk and chair, the Briefing room door to his right, the hallway door to his left.  He Could still hear someone, that scientist, protesting, and had to smile.  The thinkers always were the first to voice their opinions.

He glanced once more at the papers he still had, wondering if the Admiral was made aware before hand, or if this would be news to him as much as it had been to Donovan himself.  He had heard another name, Devlin, asked to join them, and idly wondered which one of the new faces that had been.  His memory was good, but he wished he'd had that visual memory trick, being able to see once and remember.

He adjusted his collar some, glancing around the smaller room, noting very little in the way of personal touch.  He thought about how he would have an office, knowing people would be in and out of it day in and day out.  He'd have as little personal touch as he could, the office was a place of business and serious talk, even if it's heartfelt and confidential.  He recalled the officer's quarters on the Ori bases and ships, spartan, spare, but functional, official.   He gave a mental nod to the approach.  Yes that was just the way to do it.

Sarah still didn't know what Sean was wanting to discuss which was odd.  Normally she could figure out what was going on, but this time he had kept his cards held close to his chest and she was forced to wait to find out with Donovan.  She stepped inside before Sean and nodded at Donovan.

The young woman took a stand on the other side of the door, waiting for Sean to enter.  There had been so much happening in one day that she wasn't sure she was ready for anymore surprises.  For just a few minutes it would be nice for things to run smoothly without any unexpected happenings.

<<From Briefing Room>>

Sean closed the door after Donovan and Sarah entered, and took his seat on the other side of the desk.  He waved them both down, and once they were seated, he opened a drawer in his desk and pulled out a large file.  Along with a small case that seemed to be a standard-size jewelry case that would fit a necklace.  He slid them across to Donovan.  Inside the case were two silver oak leaf pins, signifying the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

"I was told under no circumstances to issue these to you until after you received those orders from Gates, Mister Lee," Sean started to say.  "And while I had no idea you were coming, I received a text message - in private - authorizing me to go ahead and place you in charge of a clandestine unit within the Program.  SG-Six.  Officially, it won't exist.  Not even on paper.  For all intents and purposes, you and your team - your choice, pending my final approval - will be responsible for developing new tactics for all SG teams.  You'll also get to play with the latest gadgets and weaponry, and even come up with your own homebrewed devices.   But when I have to send you and your team to deal with a hard case, or bail out one of the other teams, you'll be free to use whatever force necessary to get the job done.  Even if it means the absolute destruction of an enemy compound, or a political assassination.  I may pair you and Colonel Ovcharenko's team on ops every now and then.  Otherwise, be as creative as you want.  But be forewarned, if you or if any of your team are captured while on a mission, this desk," Sean tapped it with a forefinger, "will claim ignorance and deny that you were even sent in the first place.  At least, I'm willing to lie to whomever.  But know that I'll do everything within my power to get you and your team out alive."

"Any questions?"
