The new Stargate Command Fleet HQ is located in the former NORAD command post at Cheyenne Mountain. The NORAD Division and the 721st Support Wing, formerly part of US Space Command, were transferred wholesale to their new organization. The command post displays an Earth traffic control which includes the positions of all space craft in Earth orbit, including those in inbound and outbound. Other displays include status displays for every ship in the fleet, as well as displays for all the defense satellites in Earth and solar orbit. Another screen shows the task force groups built around each battleship, along with accompanying cruisers and escorts. The command post is manned in four shifts, a colonel in charge of each. Shifts are of eight hours with one shift always off for R&R but ready to be called in if necessary. The personnel are taken from all branches of the US military, along with other nations that are signatories to the SGC Treaty. General Caldwell and his flag staff have their offices here when they are on Earth. Current plans are for the deputy department heads for the flag staff to run things here while the flag staff itself is in space with the Fleet. The person in overall charge is the SGC Deputy Fleet Commander, yet to be determined.

An urgent message blipped on Stephen's screen, it was an update from a message sent a week ago. Apparently the coding had been scrambled and the original message was unreadable.

"To General Caldwell.

You and the presence of one guest, are required at the Palace of Trees, dated this day at 1900 hours your time. We apologise for our earlier message being indecyperable, our coding at the time was not compatible with yours due to security updates. The occassion of course is the Peace Ball, we spoke of some time ago.

"Oh my," Steven thought to himself. It was 1000. He would have plenty of time to get ready. He could only think of one person as a guest. He brought his wrist comm to his mouth. "Linde, I need you in my office."

<<Linde from chapel

Linde walked in. "Ya, Herr General?" Steven showed her the message. "Ach! They do not leave me much time to get ready!" She thought for a minute. "I brought some gowns from Germany just in case. I know just the one to wear. I won't bother to do my hair. I like it better straight, and I will fit in better. And I refuse to wear heels! I'll go home and bring over everything I need and then change just before we are due to leave." Like all other SGC personnel, she had quarters in the complex itself, but she only used them to keep spare uniforms and anything else she might need at short notice. She grinned at Steven. "I learned early how to get ready quickly."

Steven typed out a reply to the invitation. I happily accept your invitation and am looking forward to seeing you this evening. I will be accompanied by Lieutenant Commander Sieglinde Wettin, Countess of Saxony and Thuringia. Steven Caldwell, Brigadier General, SGC Fleet Commander.

By the time Selinde had wriiten and sent the reply, it had grown somewhat from her Sisters request. Selinde knew only too well Sunniva's current mindset and the babe within her was more than often swaying some of her thoughts.

"Thank you dear Stephen, we humbly thank you and graciously await your arrival and that of the Countess. You and I have much to finish, that includes the game of Chess you were trying to teach me."

It was signed : Selinde Norogood, Commander of the Milky Way Eldari Fleet.

This is an emergency signal. Do not fire on cargo vessel entering atmosphere, it is carrying friendly troops. Courtesy of Administrator Kaeth. The RCAF colonel commanding the watch flipped two switches that would put him into contact with Admiral Davidson and General Caldwell. "Sirs, I have a ship that just transitioned in bearing Administrator Kaeth." Steven came out of his office and stood beside his chair, watching the tracking data. "Administrator Kaeth, this is General Caldwell. Welcome to Earth. May I inquire as to the nature of your visit?"

"The cargo vessel departing from this barge is your SG-7 team. Unfortunately, they got into the middle of a conflict on Thedif, and I've been keeping them safe until I was able to return them home. On board they have a long-range communicator so you can contact me should the need arise. Goodbye, General."

The ship then disappeared. "SG-7, this is Caldwell. Land at Woomera and then beam here."

<<Lieutenant Commander Erica Troubridge, RN, Communications Officer, NPC>>

<<RAF Air Commodore Dame Linda Fraser, DSO, DBE, MC, OIC Gamma Shift, SCG Fleet HQ>>

Erica had been having a normal day, monitoring the standard chatter going back and forth between the SGC and the fleet in Earth orbit. They also handled any messages that came in from the Jaffa, the El'dari, or any other of the space going races. She sat up suddenly as a powerful signal started coming in, the apparent point of origin a military communications satellite in geosync orbit. It didn't use any of the frequencies used by SGC. There wasn't a target; it blanketed the entire Western Hemisphere. She set her techs to work to gathering as much information as they could. It didn't turn out to be much. The signal had been relayed from a point farther out in the Solar System and then sent to its final destination, whatever that was. It corresponded to none of the message protocols used by the SGC and its allies. It also didn't correspond to anything used on Earth. She turned in her seat. "Dame Linda, there is something unusual you need to see." The older woman stepped down from her command console and stood behind Erica, reading over her shoulder while she pointed out the characteristics of the signal. Linda frowned. Somebody unknown was communication from outsystem with somebody unknown on Earth. The admiral should be notified. "Put all the information you have together and send it to the Admiral," she told Erica. Fraser moved back to her console and picked up the phone and pressed a button. "Admiral? This is Linda Fraser at the Fleet Watch Center. We just had a very strong signal come in from out of system to someone here on Earth. It's impossible to tell the recipient because the signal blanketed the entire Western hemisphere. The information is being sent to you now."

Steven had arrived early and was in his office going over the previous night's reports. Checking his watch, he saw that it was almost time for the meeting at Sean's office. Nodding to his secretary as he passed through the outer office, he arrived at the Admiral's office at about the same time as Linde and her father.

<<Emer Douglas, NPC>>

Emer was clearing up a problem with a communications console when Countess Wettin and her father came through, apparently on a tour. Emer closed her eyes briefly in order to see better with the inner sight. The woman blazed like a sun with the power. I certainly Sunniva knows what she's doing, she thought to herself. She watched as the two left and made their way to the Gate Room.

Air Commodore Fraser was the Watch Officer. She showed Linde's father around the Watch Center, showing him what each position and display did. She also noted how some consoles were unmanned due to a shortage of personnel. Georg nodded. "Well, Dame Linda, hopefully in the next few days we will be able to solve your personnel problems." He nodded to his daughter. "Now if you'll excuse me, Air Commodore, we must be going to the Gate Room so I can look over Alpha Site."

"Admiral, this is Dame Linda in the Watch Center. We are picking up a live transmission from Saggitta. They look to be in the middle of a battle."
