The former Genaii finished cleaning under his nails, examined them, then swiped the edge of the sabo against his thigh before slipping it into the sheath next to the other two.  Knives were something of a specialty, and he tended to carry no less than four on his person; two in plain sight, in case they were captured, a third in what would be considered typical hiding place on his ankle, but the one in the collar of his coat was almost always overlooked, and within easy reach when 'surrendering' with hands behind your head.

His hooded gaze shifted briefly over to Lantar, noting once again the man brooding over ancients knew what, then exhaled through his nose and checked his chronometer. Fancy little thing, Aiden had given it to him, called it a 'watch', and how it could be used to synchronize attacks from a distance.  Now he used it to gauge how long it had been since his radio call to Specialist, and would make a point to jibe the bruiser about how long it took, even if it was half the time a 'normal' would take.

He was in no hurry for Aiden's arrival, though he was curious if the idle months off would bear fruit...

{ Nyreese }

Nyreese smiles softly at the use of the familiar nickname. There were very few people she allowed to call her that without a threat on their lives. Aiden was one of them. Not even the rest of the team had earned that right yet. They received dark glares and the occasional scar as a result, depending on who it was and the nature in which the name was used.

After Aiden reiterates the plan exactly as he had before, she's certain that he knows what he's doing. Well, knows what he wants her to do. If there had been any deviation, she'd have put a stop to it. But it was clear to her that his mind was sound. For the moment. It isn't that she's against the plan - she wants a chance to meet this Sheppard to begin with. It's that she's still not convinced that this man is the big bad Wraith Aiden is convinced that he is.

Recognising the look on his face, she's glad he's not going. it had taken her some time to convince him that it would be a bad idea. He clearly had it in his head that they were guilty. And she isn't sure that she'd be able to make him see reason if he was in the presence of Sheppard himself.

"You needn't worry, Aiden." She tells him, giving his hand a squeeze before rising. She moves to the closet where her 'mission' clothes are located and begins tugging on the leather vest and weapons holsters, checking her sword for sharpness and so on. She might be a healer, but that didn't mean she couldn't be a warrior, as well. "The men are trained well, and they will follow my orders." She continues as she dresses. "And we will be back to ridding the galaxy of the scourge soon enough."

It doesn't take her long to dress. Aiden had long ago put them all through drills for preparedness, forcing them to prepare for battle over and over again, not satisfied until they all performed above and beyond even the enhances abilities of the rest of the team - herself included. She moves towards the doorway to where the others would be waiting for them, pausing to allow Aiden to join her.

{Aiden Ford}

Aiden watched as Reese finished gathering her gear. It was a smooth, practiced process. But he demanded no less in everything the team did. The Wraith were a dangerous foe, fast and strong; and so Aiden pushed them hard. One mistake could cost them everything. He removed the element of chance.

He stood, walking over to join her, as she waited in the doorway. He didn't need to say a word – and he hadn't, since reiterating the mission outline to her. He paused there, just long enough to meet her dark eyes, before stepping out into the other room. He wasn't worried. Their trust worked both ways. And Aiden trusted Reese with his life – a trust that was not easily given.

Aiden settled into one of the chairs; today, just another one of the team. It was an admittedly unfamiliar position for him that left Reese alone at the head of the table. He had provided the blueprint, but the mission, and the floor, were hers.

Giving the eclectic band of soldiers the once-over, Aiden noted, with mild amusement, that Specialist was missing. Probably out drinking again. Or finding yet another girl to bed. His mismatched eyes lingered on Keran for just a moment longer than the rest – something the always observant spy wouldn't miss – but he'd be lying if he didn't admit to a certain curiosity, as well. How Keran – his second-in-command – reacted to Reese's lead.

Nyreese takes a stride beside Aiden as they walk into the room. United front. Strong front. When Aiden moves to the seat she would normally take - the chair immediately to the head's right - she doesn't miss a step and takes the head, where Aiden would normally be. It's a strange feeling for her. She'd never been here before. Only at his side, the solid partner, silently making sure his word is followed as law. And, of course, guiding him where needed. It had been a long time since she'd been in charge. It felt good, she realises, as she looks around the group, making eye contact with everyone present.

Everyone except Specialist. When her eyes fall upon his empty seat, they narrow and glare at it, jaw working a little. She looks at Keran.

"I trust you made contact with Specialist to inform him of this briefing?" Not  that she doubts he had. They had all gotten used to his ... ways. She didn't approve, but that was beside the point. The matter at hand was that he wasn't here when he should have been.

He didn't change his posture as the other two came into the room, heel up on the edge of the table, fingers folded together on his abdomen.  To anyone who didn't know him, the position was lazy, laid back, unprepared.  Anyone who did, and those at the table for sure, would know he was capable of instantaneous lethal action.  If Aiden had come into the room, snapped his fingers and pointed at say... Lantar, a few seconds later there would be an empty seat.

His hooded eyes noted the re positioning of seats with a tilt of his head, and when he was addressed, he treated her like he treated Aiden; reaching for his hip he pulled out the radio, clicked the receiver twice again on Specalist's channel, and set it on the table beside his elbow before leaning back once more.  He didn't look to Aiden for answers or questions, if she was at the head of the table right now, she had the answers and the orders.

{{Specialist}}

Warm air rushed out in huffed breaths as Specialist crossed the forest ground that would take him back to their base of operations. He was already powering along at a pace that most would be hard pressed to keep up with, and at the same time he also took the path that would keep from activating any traps or otherwise unnecessary notifiers of his approach. There was no need to get the rest of the group worried over nothing, and he didn't need the blow to his reputation by being caught in a trap.

At last he arrived though, only slightly out of breath, at the entrance to their base. Coming off of his run, he strode in with a nonchalant attitude, having heard the radio click before but a bit busy with his exercise to answer. It was something they were probably used to at this point, and if they didn't like it, then there were plenty of other people who would appreciate his skills, if not his attitude.

"Hey," he said as he came in, taking a seat in the empty chair. "I think I might have set a new record running back through that forest." That was all he said as way of excuse, not giving another reason to justify his absence. He knew his value alright, and he was willing to put up with them chewing him out. That said, he waited for what they had to say on the mission.

{Aiden Ford}

Reese wielded disappointment sharper than any blade. Aiden knew the look well; he'd often been on the receiving end of her steady, guiding influence, and she could set him straight when needed. This wasn't that. He knew she'd never approved of Specialist's lifestyle choices. Knew that, if this were back on Atlantis, he would have gone straight for the bag of popcorn.

Though Aiden regretted he could never introduce Reese to little things like that. Little things he used to enjoy. But he wasn't back on Atlantis – and wouldn't be again, so long as he had a say in the matter. He could still make a world of difference out here, with this team, and that was important too.

Aiden shifted impatiently in his chair, as Specialist continued to hold them up. Every second he wasn't here was another second Atlantis could plot against him. And that made him nervous. He let out the breath he didn't realize he'd been holding when Specialist strolled in, taking his normal seat to the left of Martel – the opposite side of the table from where Aiden was sitting. At least they were all here now.

Nyreese looks around those in the room, curious about their reactions to the change. She notes that Keran doesn't change his position. A good sign, really. It meant he was indifferent, at the very least to the change in command. Although she has a brief urge to tell him to sit up properly while she is. But what would be the point? She knew it wasn't out of disrespect, so why make a fuss?

She watches as Keran (more than likely once more) attempts to contact Specialist. Her lips remain in the thin, firm line until he sits down. Ignoring the attempt at an excuse, she simply holds his gaze. The look on her face and set of her jaw were usually enough for  them to know she was less than impressed. Though not surprised. One did not need enhanced senses to smell where he'd been. Typical. The only reason she doesn't chastise him in front of the room is because she knew it would do no good. There are some men who can be scared into obedience. Then there was Specialist. She at least knew that once on a mission, the man could be relied upon. He wouldn't be here otherwise.

"We have received intelligence that The Team frequents this planet," Nyreese begins, handing out sheets of papyrus with the dialing address to their target planet. They never used the word Atlantis, or Sheppard's team. Or anything else. It was just 'The Team.' There were any number of reasons why, which anyone there could guess.

"As you can see it is one of the planets we do business with frequently, therefore their sudden presence there makes us uneasy. Keran, you and I will head into the main village and speak with our primary contacts, see if they know anything about it. Then we will move on to the others; sweet-talk information out of the other locals. Anything that can tells us whether or not they're after us. As well as finding out if there is anyone among the population would would be easily bribed into giving our position away. Anyone who is against us, will be dealt with accordingly." She looks at Specialist, handing him a map of the area.

"Specialist. You will take Martel and Lantar ahead of us and set up a perimeter. I trust you to choose the locations wisely, but make sure at least one of you has eyes on the Gate." After so long working with Aiden, the military jargon comes easily to her. "Specialist and I will be on radio. We will use channel six for this mission. We don't want them listening in if they're already there." The next order makes her feel rather uneasy. She didn't like death. Even when it is justified.

"Once I have made my decision, I will give you word. Code Red for the kill, Code Black for stand down. Understood?" She looks between Specialist and Keran since they would be the ones to execute her orders.

Once the woman started speaking, the heels came off the table and he leaned forward, lacing fingertips and leaning elbows on his knees.  Almost black eyes were still hooded, but he also didn't blink as he listened.  When she mentioned the channel, he simply sat up a little, reached for the radio he'd set down to change it's frequency knob, and hook it back on his belt.  He didn't look across to Specialist, or wonder why Aiden wasn't coming with them.

That would only ruin his fun anyway...

As she finished, and looked to him, he nodded once, and sat back, once again at ease, finally looking at Aiden and arching a brow ever so faintly; silent inquiry on a long standing question.  If he had Sheppard in his sights, go or no go, he had a promise to keep.  The only thing holding him back was Aiden's claim for the same promise on a more personal level.

{Aiden Ford}

Aiden paid close attention to the briefing, processing the new information with a trained, tactical mind, but the plan is sound. He can find no fault in it. If John was behind this, as he suspected, there would be no room for error. The man was nothing if not dangerous.

But Aiden couldn't do it. It would have been real easy. Keran had standing orders – orders Ford had never made known to the rest of the team. A slight nod of his head in response to a questioning brow and, if John was on that planet, Keran would make his problem go away. Permanently. Aiden shook his head. No. He wouldn't deal under the table. Trust was everything. And Reese had his word.

Aiden looked across the table at Specialist. "Well?" he growled.

{{Specialist}}

Specialist listened with casual disinterest to the mission as presented by Nyreese. It was standard affair, easy stuff that he could do in his sleep. The only interesting part was the possibility of one of the famed Atlantis teams being there, and what that entailed. he didn't share his bosses obsession with John Sheppard, but there was one particular person there who did. It was just a pity that he'd never gotten the chance to interact with Ronon Dax. Satedans weren't exactly common, so they had to stick together. A pity he might find one at the end of his gun. But at least he knew he'd be a worthy challenge.

He was already thumbing the radio over to the chosen frequency as Ford addressed him. "Got it," he replied. "Seems easy enough."

Nyreese hadn't missed the seemingly imperceptible exchange between Keran and Aiden. She had to admit to herself that she had no idea what it was for. She didn't like it. Secrets amongst the team were never a good thing. But rather than calling either of them on it (she really didn't feel like getting into a battle - literally - right before heading out for a mission. She would simply need to keep an eye on Keran. Perhaps try to bring it up with Aiden later on.

After the group changes their radios over, and Aiden prompts a response from Specialist (for which she silently thanks Aiden for), she nods to the group and gathers her own documentation.

"Very well. Gather what you will need and meet me at the Gate in ten minutes. Dismissed." With the dismissal, she hovers over the table, waiting for them to go about their pre-mission activities.

Saw the headshake and merely pursed his lips a bit. He wasn't really disappointed, just meant he had to wait a little longer.  If there was anything he had in spades, it was patience.  When Nyreese finished, he rose from his chair with his customary boneless grace, popped a toothpick between his molars, gave her a wink and headed toward the cave exit whistling quietly.

If he was going to be at her side, his priorities would shift a bit.  He knew what Aiden considered her, compared to the rest of the team.  Granted he cared for his team, but she was something else.  She wasn't on the serum, she got to be his confidant, served as their 'mother bird' when it came to tending injuries too severe for personal care.  The mission was important, but to Aiden her safety was more important, and he knew Aiden would put the blame entirely on him if anything happened.  So in his mind, he reordered what Nyreese had given them as far as objectives as he headed, as is, to the gate with only a radio, and a few knives:

Priority objective; Return of Nyreese.  Secondary Objective; information regarding Atlantis flagship group actions and intentions.  Miscellaneous objective priority; eliminate weak willed or particularly chatty townsfolk.

{{Specialist}}

Having been given instructions, they were dismissed from the meeting, to go prepare. For Specialist, that involved rising to his feet and going over to his little corner of the cave. There, he did a few exercises, then began loading up his gear, which he had left behind when he went out to the pub. This was going to be an interesting trip, hopefully, and he wouldn't be caught flat footed.

So guns, knives, all devices that wouldn't be uncommon in the Satedan military, gathered over time since the homeworld was lost and he'd been forced out into the galaxy. It was a pain to deal with, but beggars couldn't be choosers. At least it was well maintained though. As for the rest of the group, well, he'd keep an eye on them like he always did, but he knew they were talented and could look after themselves. And they probably wouldn't appreciate him being otherwise. For now, he'd do his job. Unless Ronon Dax showed up, in which case things would get interesting.

At the end of the ten minutes, he'd be all loaded up and ready to go, in spite of how much he'd been drinking previously. He wasn't one to miss a fight after all.

So Lantar was quiet for the most part. He didn't really have much to say except nod and agree on what he was to do. Go with Specialist and Martel to set up a perimeter. After listening to Nyreese's instruction and her dismissal, Lantar got up with a start and walked straight for the gear room. With the objectives fresh on his mind, he figured they wouldn't fail. Taking what he needed, he holstered his weapon and geared up before following his team toward the gateroom.
