{Lantar}

Ancestors! Stopping just outside the building, Lantar puts a hand on the kid's shoulder. Normally when Martel starts talking, you couldn't get him to shut up. This... this just wasn't like him. Even Lantar, who had only been with the team a few, short months could tell as much. "We'll be in position in a minute," he radios back to Specialist. "Listen, kid. Next planet we visit, you and me, we are finding you a nice girl. I'll buy you a room. Let the two of you have some fun."

But Lantar doesn't get a chance to enter the inn. He hears the three taps over the radio -- the team's pre-established warning, if something went wrong. They'd just been in contact with Specialist. Nyreese and Keran then? He narrows his eyes, suspiciously focusing on Martel. Did the kid know something he didn't?

{Faolan}

Men like Faolan aren't phased when someone points a gun at them; it's not the first time he's been on the other end and it definitely won't be the last. In his line of work, he expects it – anticipates it. It's part of what's kept him alive so long. So he merely smiles at Doan and stands. "That won't be necessary. I'll be leaving in just a minute."

Taking a couple of steps forward, he pauses beside Nyreese, looking down on her. He has patience for a great many things, but her coy behavior is not one of them. No, he dictates the rules here, not her. "Even if I were interested in your games, that's… unfortunate. You see, I have this bad habit of targeting anyone you've had contact with when you don't cooperate with me. That I think might still be working with you. I just hope it's not too late for Aiden. It can be… treacherous on M3S-462 this time of year. Personally, though, I'd recommend trying to save the boy instead. You know the one. I slipped a tracker on him. He'll be my first kill."

He chuckles, a low, sickly sound. Many would call him a monster, but they failed to understand; that he was the living embodiment of Death. And Death comes for everyone. He's not interested in anything else they have to say, as he disappears out the door. They've made their position quite clear. The game is afoot.

<< Tavern >>

Ksenia felt a thrill of excitement, happiness, pleasure, as the blade against her ribs was withdrawn the the handle pushed into her fingers. With the ease born of long practice- just because she wasn't currently thieving didn't mean she didn't still practice every day, because one never really knew when those skill would be advantageous- she palmed the knife between their bodies as he got to his feet and slipped it carefully into her waistband, and allowed her face to show the very real disappointment that she wouldn't be leaving the bar this very second.

Facing him- and she didn't have to fake the small shiver that raced across her skin as his lips nibbled at her neck- she sighed and traced a finger down the mercenary's jaw, down his throat, over his pecs. "Hopefully sooner than later, big guy," she murmured, not having to fake her wistfulness, then followed his suggestion and sprawled in the chair he'd mentioned. She raised her gaze back to him- Keran, the creepy guy had called him- and watched through eyes half-closed in what appeared to be sensual longing, her fingers lazily tracing a trail on the crease of her hip- directly over where the knife he'd given her now resided.

Gimme a sign, big guy. At his point, I am all yours. She spares a single, slow glance at Doan. Because if this doesn't work,  Doan knows I tried to rabbit before paying rent and he'll have my hide...

< Outside the Inn >

Feeling Lantar's powerful hand resting on his shoulder, Martel actually smiles a little, feeling somewhat comforting. That right there is a good chunk of the reason why the boy chooses to stay with this group. He feels safe with them. Especially Nyreese. They make him feel safe and at home. When he suggests - no, promises - paid companionship, his eyes widen in a number of emotional reactions; fear, anticipation, excitement, mortification ... He'd never paid for a girl before. And if he's being honest, he's never had a girl before. It was never something he'd had the opportunity to do.

But these feelings are wiped from existence the instance the signal is heard. They hadn't even had a chance to get into position. A number of profanities come to mind, but the look on Lantar's face stops them from coming out. "What? Why are you looking at me like that? We need to get ready..."

< Tavern >

When Doan breaks out the gun, she glares at him. So much for his backup. His next payment will not be so generous. She catches Keran's disguised message and keeps her focus on Faolan. Her eyes narrow when he threatens her family. Sure, the team isn't blood related, but blood does not always mean family. Not to her, at any rate. But when the man mentions the planet using the designation Aiden gives it, she feels a whole flock of butterflies pass through her belly. 'Aiden ...' Her training and discipline don't allow the whimper that bubbles up a voice, but she certainly feels it. The man is out the door before she's gotten her heavy breathing under control. That hadn't taken long, but the man proved to be swift.

Throwing another hard glare at Doan, she takes the few long strides towards Keran, simultaneously activating the talk button on her radio. "Lantar, take Martel back to base." She pauses, not wanting to alarm the boy. "Aiden is in danger." It's the truth, but it's not the whole truth. She'd find time to tell them when they get back. If they get back ...

She glances at Ksenia before looking at Keran. "You heard the man. He threatened our family." 'He cannot leave this planet alive.' The last is not spoken, but more than implied. her attention is then drawn to the girl who had previously occupied Keran's lap. Something about her tells Nyreese that she is far more than she appears. Her body is not one of curves and subtle sensuality - though there is plenty of that. She is lean, athletic, and there's a sharp look in her eyes. Intelligence, for sure.

"If you can prove yourself worthy, I may be able to compensate you for lost business." She tells the girl with a nod towards Keran. Had circumstances been different, Nyreese is quite certain that Keran would have had some fun later. She feels almost as bad about him losing out and she does about the girl not making the money she had hoped for. If the girl is what Nyreese believes her to be, she will know what to do. If not, well, she hadn't been wrong yet.

Without giving it a further thought, she spins on her heel and heads towards the door to hunt down the man who had threatened her family, a dower glare of intent on her face.
