<<From Stables>>

The journey was not exactly fast, but it wasn't slow either. Besdada taking the fine packed limestone road in his stride. "Stalls it is, and a damned good choice to. Just like home when free enterprise hits, the big shops tend to over inflate the value of their merchandise. Not that they have Macy's or even Walmart here Flynn, but you get my point. Comfy?" She asked at the end.

Soon they were in the centre of town, marked by a circular central area, much like a roundabout the British and Australians were so fond of, with a large neat garden in the centre. The businesses and buildings were perhaps what you would find in Europe if you went back to about the 16th century or so, three to four stories being a bug building. "It was embarrassing, so please don't make my mistake. Treat all older women as if they were the Queen of England." That was the best advice she could give and then of course Flynn would take note of what she said. Rachel's face went crimson as if she had been caught necking in public. "Lets say we're close." That was all she would say for now.

She pulled the Sulky up at the corner of two streets, there was a large open building right there, three stories high and the entrance was kind of like some of those huge old English railway stations. "He were are, market central. Four hundred individual stall owners. Hope you can control yourself." She grinned.

Flynn relaxed back in the sulky.  It wasn't exactly riding, but it was pleasant and it made her feel better.  Not to mention the fresh air was great.  She laughed a bit. "Seems like things don't change a whole lot from place to place," she grinned.  There were some things that were always going to be the same. "And yes I am."

Flynn looked around as they approached the market.  It was huge.  And she was very excited about getting to explore.  Even if she was still on crutches and would have to take things a lot slower then normal.  "Alright, I think I can handle that one," she grinned.  Treat them with respect.  Sounded simple enough.  She raised a brow, but could see that Rachel wasn't going to say anything else.  So Flynn just turned her attention back to all the stalls.  There was so much to choose from.

"Four hundred?" Flynn repeated as they stopped by the stalls.  She looked at the ones that she could see.  "Ooh, I don't know.  I think walking slow may be the only thing that holds me back," she laughed.

<Market Stalls>

Getting Flynn in was easy, getting her out was another question and right now, Rachel felt as if she was that guy out of 'Gone with the Wind'. She hopped out, tied the horse and sulky to an iron pole on the curb just for that purpose, then ran around to Flynn's side to help her down. She would have to virtually lift her down in fact. Rachel could of course speak her mind as well..

"You'll do alright girl. You've a sharper mind than I have, so I won't be worried about you." She said with a grin. "Yes over four hundred and a lot of that is food. Just like home eh?" She burst out laughing.

<Market Stalls>

Flynn frowned slightly as Rachel stopped the sulky.  She hadn't thought about the part of getting out of the sulky.  Oh this wasn't going to be fun at all.  It was going to be extremely hard, but she couldn't sit in the sulky the whole time.  That wouldn't be any fun at all.  she wanted to explore after all.

Flynn laughed a bit.  "Well, gotta keep your strength up while you shop," she grinned. 'And yes, it does remind me of home."  the malls and other places always had a ton of food places.

"Here you go." Rachel told Flynn, holding out her strong arms, taking the other by the waist, then hoisting her down to the sidewalk. With one hand steadying her, she grabbed the crutches as well, placing them under Flynn's armpits. "Lets do this. We'll eat when we're hungry, shop and oh yeah, they have entertainment as well. Buskers, Cage fighting .....just like home!" She said again to really drive it home.

"Oh, thank you."  Flynn let Rachel help her as she knew there was no way she could do this on her own.  Her injured leg wouldn't allow her that option.  She carefully stood on her good leg while she got her crutches under her again.  "Ooh, that sounds like a great plan," she said excitedly. "It does make me think of home." A thought hit her then.  Something about visiting a big city and shopping just like this.

"Don't mention it Flynn, part of the service, besides.. I need the workout." The last part wasn't strictly true, Rachel worked out everyday, when she could. Which for her part consisted of an hour or so in the base Gym almost every afternoon, if she was off shift, otherwise in the evening.

They began walking at Flynn's pace and the first thing that hit you was the smells, beautiful smells of both food, spices and flowers. It wasn't all that different to what you'd find say in Asia somewhere, perhaps Singapore and the weather was quite similar. The only difference being here in winter, the market was closed, it was simply too cold. Luckily winter usually only lasted around nine weeks or so.

Twenty metres into the market, something caught Rachel's eye. "Hey Flynn, look over there." To their right was a long table laden with locally made jewellry, much of it adorned with stone very similar to opal. Pearls and greenstone, rings, necklaces, braclets. There wasn't much that could not take your eye.

Flynn just smiled.  Rachel was so kind and Flynn never felt like she was putting her new friend out as Rachel was always bubbly and willing to do everything and anything.  She had certainly gained a good friend, despite all the trouble she had gone through to end up here.

She walked beside Rachel, still getting used to her crutches.  It was getting easier though each day.  With time she would be used to them.  Not that she really wanted to have to get used to them.  The market smelled wonderful.  Oh it was like heaven.  The smells teased her nose as they walked.

Flynn looked over as Rachel called her.  Her eyes lit up. "Wow," she gasped.  The jewelry was gorgeous.  She had a ring and necklace fetish, so it would hard to walk away without anything from this stall.

"Wow indeed, this lady has new stock!" Rachel exclaimed happily. She was a regular here, but it wasn't often the stall holders had new items, as many of them came from afar, some only staying a day or two. But, stalls were precious to get a lease on, so you would see the same ones each week at least, if not every other day. You couldn't ignore the foodstalls either, it was a delight to the senses, but Rachel was determined not to weaken, not yet anyway. Then she saw something, something marvelous and quite pretty. "Flynn, if you don't buy that for yourself I will buy it for you." She said her mouth wide in a joyful smile, pointing at what had taken her eye.

"Really?"  It was all new to Flynn.  And she was loving it.  Of course she loved jewelry, so starting with that stall had been a great idea even if it was by accident.  Although the food smelled wonderful as well.  Ooh, she could see herself spending the whole day here with no problem.  She turned her attention back to the table at Rachel's exclamation.  Her eyes widened when she realized what Rachel was pointing at.  "It's beautiful!" she exclaimed, picking up the necklace to take a closer look.    "Oh, I definitely have to get it."

OOC: gorgeous necklace Mel!

The two young women were attracting some attention by now, Rachel, no newcomer was always sought out for this ailment or that. Not that the Cavaleiros didn't have their healers, and very good ones as well. It was just that she was one of very few of the 300 plus base staff that was a regular and many of the people here, seemed to just want to hear her speak, southern drawl and all. She gave them what they wanted in spades, the women could talk the leg of a chair at times.

Yet it was the stall holder who seemed to be the most occupied with them, more to the point Flynn. Dressed as she was in the local fashion and if only she knew, the attire she wore was considered quite regal around these parts. His dark brown eyes were transfixed on her. He was a lad, probably looking after his fathers business as many youngsters did, no more than 17 or 18 Earth years old. "Lady." He began. "If you would do me the pleasure of accompanying me to the fair this Worship day (Sunday), to show my gratitude, you can have that." The thing was, the kid must have a bundle, the ticket price was equivalent to about a thousand US dollars.

Rachel's eyebrows almost left her face. Sure, these people were warm hearted and generous, but this offer from the sandy headed boy blew her away. She leaned into Flynn, closely. "Flynn me girl, you so cannot refuse that offer."

Flynn, being the newcomer, had no idea what she was in for.  Or how these friendly people worked.  The necklace was beautiful and although she didn't know how much the price actually was, she was determined it would be worth the cost.  Besides, it wasn't like she spent a lot on Earth.  She didn't have time with her position at the SGC.

Flynn looked up when the stall holder spoke up.  She had no idea about the clothes that Rachel had gotten her.  All she knew were they were comfortable and much easier to get on with her broken leg then anything else would have been.  Flynn's blue gray eyes widened in surprise at his request.  She didn't know exactly when he meant, but she was sure that Rachel did.  And then to have Rachel whisper in her ear, she knew she couldn't say no.  She gave a slow nod.  "I would be honored," she answered with a smile, her eyes dancing.  Getting around on the crutches wouldn't be the easiest, but she would make do.

{Kaylan Sol} NPC

The young man was beaming, beaming with utter infatuation it might be said. He brushed his hand through his wavy hair, you could see from this action alone, he didn't spend all his time selling wares. He was tanned, heavily muscled but slim at the same time; you could only decribe him, as athletic in build. Possibly close to six foot and by his apparent age, still had a little growing to do. "Then it would be my pleasure to be your escort my Lady. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Kaylan Sol, cousin to our Rainha, Josile Seranatel. If I may say, I know your name my Lady, stories of your courage and bravery have already spread far and wide." He was keen that alone could be said.

"Flynn Hart, scouge of the Boresta..." He intoned almost reverently, bowing as he did so. "Your injury, it is something to be proud of, a tale to tell your grandchildren." He added.

Poor Rachel could only stand there grinning, she was in a word...flabagasted.

Flynn had to admit, the kid was good looking.  She wondered how many of the local girls he had chasing him.  she remembered high school quite fondly.  Not that she had ever had that problem.  She was the geek after all, but she knew how Guy had been in high school.  The girls had been all over him.  She liked this kid though.  He seemed friendly and easy to talk to.  Before she could respond to him introducing himself he went on with the tale of her escape.

Flynn stared at him in shock, before looking at Rachel in confusion. "Everyone has heard my story?" she asked softly.  She had just been glad to escape.  She hadn't thought about anyone finding it a true tale to tell.

"Oh yeah, you're an absolute hero around these parts Flynn." Rachel said, not in jealousy, but proudly. "Really though I have no idea how that story got around so fast." She looked heavenward as if to ask for forgiveness, as she alone knew only too well how it spread so rapidly.

{Kaylan Sol} NPC

Kaylan began wrapping the necklace in fine tissue paper, satisfied he had made a grand deal with it. He then looked up at Rachel, raising a fair eyebrow. "And the Lady Rachel is buying nothing today?" He said in mock surprise. She had answered the question well. What niether of them were letting on, was that this little meeting was pre-arranged on Kaylan's request. He was considered too young to go on the search, but he was one of the grooms taking the horses to the landing site, where first saw Flynn. He handed the small package over to her, as if it were the crown jewels.

"Hmmm, I don't know Kaylan, Flynnn, what do you think. I like those." She pointed to a pair of earings, made of much the same material as Flynn's necklace.
