Main Pilot Briefing
« on: December 19, 2016, 01:53:21 AM »

Situated on Deck 31 right above the Flight Deck, the Main Pilot Briefing Room of TIS Allosaurus can compete and boldly rival in size those that are built in the military bases and even planetside, because it was designed as a heart of the Imperial AeroSpace operations of a whole battle fleet a time and was required to house all the Wing Commanders in the fleet and selected squadrons.

Built as a classical amphitheatre audiotrium to provide everyone with a clear view of what's shown on the main display, it offers personal console that copies the output before every seat, with access to the CIC data and Imperial Database as needed. Every individual squadron in the fleet has a much smaller carbon copy of this room for briefings given by the Squadron Leader to the individual pilots.

As a rule of thumb, Main Briefing is utilized only during the critical missions, when some general orders cannot be given over the radio at all, or when it's necessary to make sure everyone gets it at the same time. Well, you know the drill.

<<From the Bridge>>

The elevator doors slid open and Angela stepped on the deck, ignoring the guards snapping at attention. She was running out of time with all the sh*t that was going on. Princess could hear the loud noise of many voices speaking at once, discussing everything possible and even louder barking of Walker trying to make them shut the frak up and act as elite officers, not as a bunch of cretins in a funfair.

Redhead walked into the room finally and the voices seemed to quiet down almost instant, hundreds of eyes locking on her, just the snapping of jaws shut and boots hits together when the people stood up. She saw red when Ryan Gillian didn't even bother as much as stand up when the royalty appeared, unlike the rest, continuing to play in his phone, completely oblivious to her presence and sudden silence reigning. Angela covered the distance between them two in a single leap and grabbed him by the ear, pulling him up in a hard jerk and ignoring his yells of pain.

"The seats are reserved for proper officers, not for the dogs without honour! You will stand during the briefing! And you will stand when your Princess enters the room, you sh*t eating sellsword! I am daughter of the Empress and I will be treated with mirrored respect!"

Not letting his ear go, Princess made the man circle her so she was facing his back and planted a loud kick on his behind, making the mercenary fly into the wall, where a guard grabbed him and made him stand upright and facing the podium, not caring at all that the man's head probably was now tolling like a bell. If there was one thing that could unite every military branch even on a shore leave, that was the mercenaries and pirates, with both balanced equal in the eyes of the service people.

Gone was the giggly playgirl that Angela was for the most of the Imperium. A furious valkyire stood in her place, barely containing her wrath, eyes not misty with the thoughts of fun and lust, but crystal clear and burning with resolution and keenest intelligence. She exhaled and counted to ten, a moment used by one of the Colonels to slip in the now vacant seat, and relocated herself to the podium.

"Be seated, please."

Caesaris did not forget to give a glare at Gillan and when he tried to crouch, soldier pulled him back up. The room was indeed overcrowded and not everyone was able to find a proper seat, hugging the walls and pillars instead. There were Wing Commanders from her Fleet, Wing Commanders from the three orbital bases surrounding Alhabor and at least a dozen of those from the colony based AeroSpace. Add to that entire Hell's Angels and you get quite a sizeable crowd.

"There is not much to be said today, but let's be done with it, for I want everyone to know their role in the upcoming battle before they depart to their stations..."

The main screen behind her, obeying Sally, lit up with tactical info from CIC, showing the advance of the Entheri Swarm and their Ekee suicide ships on the positions of the Terran military.

"I have no idea if this is a desired action by the bugs command, or is it a pure battle of chance, but this is it - we're dug in for defence and they're attacking. We have advantage of having more entrenched position, the bases providing us with extremely powerful weapons and shield umbrellas to help us withstand onslaught long enough to at least even the odds. That's exactly what we are going to do - sit in the tight defence until the foe is not weakened enough.

To this end, I need Magnum Launch of everything that can fly and shoot. Alhabor forces - your pilots are the best familiar with the atmosphere of your planet, the winds, the conditions, finally, the geogrpahy. You will all launch and patrol the skies up to the exosphere. Your task will be to intercept whatever sieves through our lines and tries either to hide or land on the planet. Do not let them. Your presence in outer space would be required only by my special command.

Base forces. Your ships will be necessary to provide cap duty to both your bases and our big ships. You will not engage the enemy that is too far or pursuit any. Whatever you think, whatever is your opinion, I command you to do what you are the best trained for - defence duty.

Ship forces. Well, here's where it gets interesting. Half of the squadrons, Wing Commanders decision, remains to pull cap duty in the nearest vicinity of your carriers. You intercept torpedoes, missiles, fighters, bombers that threaten your vessels. Anything that manages to slip under shield umbrella - get rid of it the first priority. The other half of the squadrons fans out to intercept enemy on advance, tie them up in dogfight. Force the escort to battle your forces, leave bombers vulnerable for the defence squadrons and for the free interception ones. Try to make them fight on high speeds in the ring systems. Our ships are nimbler than the bug ones, and can make tighter turns. There's a good chance that you can skirt a rock and they'd enjoy the Energy Conservation Law in their fullest when ramming one.

Auxila. Gillan, pay fracking attention. If you want to earn your money, then on my command or General Walker's command, whatever comes first, you lot will move in head first into the fray. Your task will be to distract the bugs from our main forces and kill as many as you can. Once entered the combat, you shall not disengage without specific order, whatever the odds. You will also play the Wild Weasel mission inside of their formations. Yes, you knew what you are signing up for. Deal with it. Fail to do as commanded and get flagged IFF negative.

Everything said concerns only the fighters. Bombers will stand by for launch ready to carry out Alpha Strike on cue when Entheri big ships are worn out, attempting to nail several in quick succession and level the battlefield.

Now, for the Allosaurus specific orders. Hell's Angels launches in full. Alpha Wing - you are the bait. You will encite and attract Entheri pilots to attack you, then return back to the others, with them on your tail, or you'll pull the dogfight closer to us. Beta Wing - you are the anvil. You will approach the ensnared Entheri squadron from the rear positions and cut off their disengagement options. Gamma Wing - you're glued to my six and you are the hammer. When Alpha lured the bugs in and Beta cut off their retreat, we will move in and rain death on them. Rinse repeat and we might be able to neutralize at least a portion of their force until the adapt to this tactics. Remember, you're the Imperial Guard, you're Aces of Aces and everyone who scored less than 70 frags on this sortie, will be dismissed back to regular force. We are the Wrath of Terra and must perform accordingly.

Killer Bees, Blue Devils and Star Slayers - you're the half of our complement that launches into the interception as well. Don't forget to coordinate the efforts and capabilities of your light, medium and heavy fighters to maximum effect. Fighting Peacocks, Black Lions and Space Scorchers - you are the half that lingers back to defend Allosaurus. All the bomber squadrons prepare for launch the moment the last fighter left the deck and get ready to join the rest in Alpha Strike.

Okay, that's about it. Questions?!
"

Every tactics and order given by Princess was illustrated by Sally on the main screen and every console, showing groups of fighters moving into positions and doing what they are told, displaying projected result as well.

The murmur was there, but no questions were really asked. The pilots were a cheeky bunch, but they'd get cocky out in the space, when their guns would heat up and their missiles lock and load. Adrenaline flowing through their blood together with some ion fuel, they could not help it but to be little bastards to each other just for the sake of keeping their sanity. For now, everyone just copied their flight plans for future assignments to be given within their own squadrons.

Sally has broken up the serenity of the momentary calm before the sh*t storm with her sharp and cut to the point memo:

"Entheri ships are getting into attack formation just beyond our precision fire range. At that distance even the lasers would travel too long and give even the dreadnaughts time to evade. Ekee ships are pressing in, however, they'd be within the optimal engagement range within 25 minutes."

"Everyone to your carriers and bases! Brief your crew if you need right on the fly! I want our own swarm of fighter craft surrounding our fleet in 20 minutes! Sally, prep my machine for priority launch, first of the Hell's Angels. Load her with 20 ImRec's and 3 ProMines, run the diagnostics of every bloody wire and screw and make sure the repair bot is in the operational state this time, please! Okay, out, out, everyone, chop, chop!"

Princess went to run out of the briefing room. She needed to get down to the flight deck together with the local pilots first and foremost. There they all would change into the flight hardsuits while the maintenance crew steers the ships up from hangars onto the launch deck. But in the doors she was caught by the sleeve by the merc leader.

"What about our pay?"

"I shall honour my promise. Any surviving pilot from the Auxila will get what's owed to them. Now get your paws off of me!"

The redhead Caesaris hissed at him, jerking her elbow out of his grasp and landing a punch onto his shoulder. In the man's mind, that behaviour barely fit with the playgirl image that was built in the media carefully over the years, and he felt that it'd be best to quit pushing his luck and get his guild organized and, after making sure there are a dozen of me between him and the Royalty, he ran out as well.
