Title: PG8-K59 Alpha Site~ Surface aircraft hangars
Post by: Mim on August 13, 2014, 02:27:56 AM
The huge blast proof hangars of the Alpha site were on the surface, a kilometer north of the base itself. They were semi submerged into the granite base and had a four metre covering of reinforced concrete with a trinium shell over that. They housed twelve F302D's and six AC 401's. The hangar can be accessed directly from the base via the Ancient tunnel system using golf buggy type vehicles or motorcycles if you're in a hurry.

The Crew Chief is Warrant Officer T.J Meyer (Terrance, just don't ever call him that or Terry) USN

<Hangar Bay>

After he flashed and exited the teleporter, he was amazed by that technology. Never before it was beamed away, transferred and then beamed back. He would have to check later to count to see if he still has all his parts. He shook his head as he doesn't have any question about the AC401, but he was eager to learn.

As he entered the bay, he looked around in awe at the ships parked there. He continued to listen to the pretty lady's instructions.

Being totally unflappable, riding the Lantean transporters was the same as breathing to Jordan. It was simply there and she never questioned it. She exited as calmly as you would expect a seasoned veteran to do so, except for the whisp of dark hair that fell from her cap; she ignored it.

"Those beautiful beasts are the AC401. Virtual killing machines, but they are multi purposed as well, I assume you were given the data file on them?" She asked. "General O'Neill likes to refer to them as Can openers."

<Gate Room>

Upon entering the room and hearing what she had to say, it was all Jon could to from exploding with glee. He felt like a kid with his plane set at Christmas. He wanted to fly each and every one of them. AC401? Hmm, nice Jon thought to himself amused. He wanted to ride at least one.

He turned to her and nodded, Yes, ma'am. It was in the briefing I received. Can openers?

He wondered why he would call them can openers.

"Can openers." Jordan repeated as they drew closer to the nearest aircraft. Its bulky shape defied both its purpose and definition, looking for all the world like a fat 302 on steroids. But walking around back to the open rear cargo ramp told you differently, big enough to sit 25 fully armed troops or a decent APV; look above from that point and you see the large exhaust nostles of her two sublight engines, with the hyper drive generator nestled in between. A walk down either side and you see two large rotating thrust nozzles; in atmosphere they work much like a Harrier's. In Space, it'll turn any direction in its own length. Above on the top, just behind the cabin is the main turret; a twin barrelled pulse weapon. Under the chin in front, two 30mm single barrelled high rate cannon.

"Most of our enemies cannot engage at close range, these can even slip under the shields of some ships and render their defeneces useless. We've had single 401's take out Goa'uld Hataks." She told him proudly, wishing that had been her. "We'll be going to our training area, some 500 miles south of here." She told him as she opened the side door, three steps led into the cargo area just behind the cockpit, two steps up and you were in the 4 seat cockpit itself. Left seat, pilot; Jordan woud sit there. Right seat, co-pilot and directly behind him or her, the gunner, behind the pilot, the tactical officer.

"For training we don't need flight suits normally, but we should just for safety. There is a locker room straight over there with spare suits and helmets. Go change and I'll meet you back here in ten minutes. Any questions?"

<Aircraft Hangar>

Jon shook his head. He had no questions as he had read everything that passes him. He had to capability to learn and remember quickly. He was dismissed to change into his flight gear. Headed to the locker room, he took five minutes to just change into a flight suit. Taking out the helmet and closing the door, he quickly ran out and back to the hangar bay. He took several minutes to look around the bay just to explore a bit. Soon he returned and met with the commander again ready in his gear holding his helmet ready to go. He was eager to explore and learn.

By the time Jon was back, Jordan was standing beside the door, helemt under arm and fully dressed in the 302 style G suit, dark green almost black. She had her side arm strapped to her leg and a zat on her hip. Just for safety she would say. "You look ready for war Lieutenant." She gave him a wry grin. "Right, lets get the show on the road, this will be more than familar. You basic fixed wing training will kick in quite quickly as well your helo training, both will be used on the 401."

A few moments later, she was sitting in the left seat, the pre-flight checks confirmed by way of computer. She waited for Jon to join her.

"Heh," Jon remarked as he smiled amused.

He entered the 401 with some childlike awe on his face. He looked around the spacy interior of the 401.

"Ma'am, you mentioned this beautiful beast combined the elements of both fixed wing and rotary flying,  how is that so? I ask because I really wanted to get onto the Osprey earlier but, well you know, the waiting list was a mile long." he said to her and took his place on the co-pilot side. He studied the controls for a bit before him assessing how many were before him. He got his breathing under control and listened to his commander.

"Watch and learn, and watch carefully. Because you will be training others when you get to Atlantis." That would have been a bombshell to someone who in her mind was essentially a rookie still. Silently Jordan hoped and prayed her application for Atlantis would be approved, it had been 4 months now and still no word.

"The yaw and ventral nozzle controls are on your right side, beside your seat, left side for me. The single yoke control is in front of you." She slid a control on the panel and the yoke popped up for each in front of them. "Thrust here, same as any two seat." She said, her hand on the dual control in between them. "So you will have the best of both worlds, direct flight and hover or a combination of the two."

Her hand reached up above them on the ceiling panel, a flip of a leaver and the whine of hydralics could be heard, closing the rear ramp and side door. "Your file said you have a photographic memory Leiutenant, I hope it takes nice pictures." She pressed the 'engage' button, centre top of the main panel, the HUD display lit up and she began spooling the engines, taking all of about 20 seconds. Jordan put her helmet on at that point, face mask down and then pressing the mic button.

"Alpha control, this is Lady Bird 1, request clearence for take off and transition to training area delta."

A moment later came the reply. "You are cleared Lady Bird 1, vector angels 150, south by south west."

"Roger control." She looked at Jon. "Watching?" She asked as she slid the thrust levers forward slightly and the tubby aircraft began moving out of the hangar.

"Watching?"

Jon looked at her and nodded gulping nervously, "Yes, Ma'am."

Jon had already put his helmet on and he tapped it to make sure it was tight but breathable. He was the observer and even thought he was the co-pilot, he will be ready to take control. The aircraft slowly moved forward as he gripped the seat a bit. Soon as they got out of the hangar, he relaxed a bit taking in the broad sight of the world beyond the Alpha Site.

"This bird is really flying for dummies. The eggheads who designed this thought of everything." Jordan began, making sure Jon's eyes were following her actions. She reached forward to a lever control, that had three positions; safe-cycle and lastly landing. The first position would be automatically tripped once the aircraft was back on the ground or in a carrier hangar, the second, 'cycle', would place the 401 into the automated take off procedure. That amounted to the pilot taking his or her hands off the controls until the aircraft reached a distance from the TOP (take off position) of 500 meters altitude and 2 kilometers distance. In space, that happened very, very fast.

Jordon bumped the lever down to 'cycle' with her gloved hand, took her hands away from the cotrols and the computer's took over; she checked with a quick look also to see that Jon had his hands clear as well. With amazing agility, the 401 lept forward and upwards, its earthly take off run being no more than 250 meters and soon it was climbing almost vertically, the vectoring thrusters adding to the main sublight engines. "Right Lieutenant, the bird is yours now, switch to manual, that green button top right of your panel. You will be in control, I want you to take us to 150,000 feet. The cabin is fully space worthy right as of now." She looked up to see the pressure compensator light go green.

Jon continued to watch silently as the 401 continued its ascent from the hangar bay and the ground. It was slowly climbing up. Soon as Jordon told him to take over, Jon quickly grabbed the controls and tapped the green button indicator. It automatically switched his station to manual and he tipped the controls back as he continued ascending toward space, or rather, 150,000 feet. He had never been to space before and he was eager. While he looked ahead pushing the fighter quickly toward the sky higher up he goes, he also kept watch on the pressure indicator.

Soon, after a few minutes of flying, they were nearing the 150,000 feet limit and Jon loosened the craft as he leveled it a bit flying across the stratosphere. He was getting a bit closer to space but not quite.

"You're doing very well Leiutenant. Proceed directly to the training area, you can see it on the Nav there." She pointed to the large blue lines around an area some 500 miles south west of the main base. From this elevation, it will take only seconds to reach. Once there, drones are launched from the surface that will simulate various types of threats and they can be singular or many at once. During this phase, Jordan would take up the rear gunners seat for a few runs, then swap with Jon, so he can see the mission from both points of view.

A code red message came through on TJ's monitor. He read it and his eyes opened wide, then he ran as fast as his bulk would allow him (he was quite overweigh) and gathered his team. "Ready up Pink Parrot guys, the boss may have an alert. Whatever it is, we have a stand by crew coming in from the SGC. I want that bird loaded for war by the time they arrive."

"YES CHIEF!" They said in unison, scrurrying around the hangar, loading missiles and feeding rounds into the chin gun. By the time the crew arrived, Pink Parrot would be warmed up and ready to go.

"Apparently the Alliance wants us badly Teya." Lucille told her CAG as they walked to the elevators, a small group of women who may make a little showing of feminine defiance this day. "We need to work fast ladies. You'll find spare flight suits and helmets in the ready room over there." She pointed to the double doors at the end of the hangar, but her eyes were drawn to the 401's as crews scurried about making them ready. Fully armed and loaded, engines humming, with Iron Maiden1 at the front, the only one painted black and the only one that wasn't named after a bird.

"Collins, you'll be on our wing, Turcotte, you will be working your booty off girl as your friend's co-pilot and gunner. Teya, I'll do the same for you, its your lucky day as you will be flying the Maiden. Move it!" She shouted the last and suiting her own words rushed to the ready room. Quite surprisingly fast for her fifty years.

{ Captain Ryse Collins }

Ryse manages to resist a groan at the mention of the Alliance. But she can't quite manage to keep her eyes from rolling. 'Again?? frak, those bastards never give up, do they?' At the General's orders, she nods and begins heading in the indicated direction to don her suit. She feels somewhat jealous, but similarly relieved that the Commander is assigned partnership with the Iron Maiden. When she realises she gets to not just fly with an old friend again, but actually show her the ropes for a change, she gets that sh*t-eating grin that she hasn't felt in ages on her face.

"These things are amazing, Ally." She confides as soon as they're out of earshot of the two CO's. "Considerably dumbed down, but that's not necessarily a bad thing." She continues to explain as she pulls on the suit, fully expecting Turk to do the same. "I think the hardest thing to get used to after flying the fighters is if you're not going too fast, you hardly pull any G's at all. But get going fast enough, some of the curves, it'll all come right back to ya." She says with a grin, remembering her first flight in a 401.

TJ heard a familiar voice and just had to run to see who it was. The stout balding guy beamed brightly when he saw the woman. "Ryse! Welcome home buddy....I mean Captain. Damn, what a time for you to show up." He lowered his voice so that Chalmers wouldn't hear him. "Still have a penchant for Cognac and cards?" His grin was mischevious.

Just as she's pulling the suit over her shoulders, a familiar voice hails her. She looks up and smiles at TJ. Well, it's more of an evil grin, and her eyes gleam. "At ease, Terry." She teases him with a wink. "Actually, I volunteered this time. No threats of withheld liquor involved." She finishes assembling the suit and reaches for the helmet, tucking it under her arm.

"That actually sounds like a fantastic idea, TJ." She glances at Turk, then back to the Warrant officer. "This is Captain Turcotte. We worked together at McMurdo a few years back. Even had t he pleasure of working under Colonel Sheppard for a while. I think we might be able to twist her arm into joining us. After we finish cleaning up, of course." She finishes by looking at Turk, that devious twinkle in her eyes. Cards? Cognac? Together again with Turk? The only thing missing is Sheppard and cigars ..

"Terry?" He wrinkled his brow at her. "Only the missus ever got away with that and you know how badly that ended." He joked, the guy had never married, cards and the odd drink his wife and soul mate. "Haven't lost your touch either girl, still that same sassyness. Which by the way you'll need. See the new CAG, Commander Renner, ex Top Gun instructor and a damned good flight leader as well." He nodded to Turk. "Pleased to meet you Cap. TJ Meyer, your spannerman and as Ryse just told you essentially, I run the casino here." Of course not on the base, in town and away from Chalmers eyes. Although she did know about it, she chose to turn a blind eye in the light of keeping morale up.

"I'd better go, catch you soon. Oh and you'll have your old bird again,Vulture 4. Loaded and ready to roll." Six AMRAMS 110, 12,000 plutonium tipped rounds for the 30mm canon and an endless stream of Asgard plasma beam from the mini turret. "Oh and you have the proximity mines as a standby, loaded in the cargo bay. Twenty four in each."

Teya shook her head, her long braid falling over her shoulder.  "Don't those guys ever learn?" she asked with a roll of her eyes.  They had faced these guys many times and always seemed to come out on top.  you would think they would have learned their lesson by now.  Teya grinned as they went to retrieve their flight suits.  "You got it, ma'am."  It was a privilege to fly the Iron Maiden.  Chalmers didn't let just anyone touch her bird.

Teya quickly suited up, raising a brow as TJ came to say hello.  "And one who can still kick your butt in cards," she teased TJ.  Okay, yes she liked to play cards when she had time.  Not that that was often, but it was a nice stress reliever.

Things are moving very quickly, as she would expect in this situation, and Turk's head is spinning a bit as she tries to absorb everything. She's not quite sure who this "Alliance" is- probably mentioned in a report or documentation she has yet to read- but apparently the crew here was well-used to them. She nods at the general's directive of her assignment as Ryse's co-pilot and gunner. "Yes sir!"

Regardless of the conversation and orders whirling around her, she nearly stops in her tracks at the sight of the machines in the hangar, falling behind the group for a few steps. "Whoa," she whispers to herself, reluctantly tearing herself away to hurry after Ryse into the ready room. She sorts through the spare suits and helmets quickly, finding a suitable size for both her frame and her head, and immediately kicks off her boots to step into the flight suit.

She nods at the warrant officer and extends a hand for a brief, firm shake. ''Spannerman', huh? I'm guessing that means mechanic...' "Nice to meet you. And I'm always willing to participate in a card game or two... or three..."  She grins at him, and at Ryse, butterflies in her stomach as she finishes shrugging into the flight suit and zipping it up. She bends over, relaces her boots, and picks up the helmet to tuck it under her arm. As she straightens, she's practically bouncing on her toes. "A chance to fly a new bird, maybe take aim at some baddies, *and* a card game? Sounds pretty close to my definition of a perfect day."

"Ma'am or General will do Captain, last time I checked my body hadn't undergone a sex change." Lucille said frankly over her shoulder to the new girl.

Getting changed was by now a matter of both habit and routine for the base commander. With constant patrols aloft, every qualified pilot took their turn and that included Lucille. She had of course missed the conversation with her Crew Chief and the others, but Lucille wasn't just a figurehead, she knew everything that went down on the base and the look on TJ's face said he had been planning a game. As she returned, the first to do so, she spoke to him rapidly. "Chief, I can assume your plans for later involve a little gambling? If so, I don't want to hear about it alright?" She would of course and simply file it away as another stress outlet, thereby letting herself off the hook.

A minute after speaking with him, she was in the cockpit of the 'Iron Maiden', going through the pre-flight checks in around twenty five seconds. Everything was in place, with her helmet now on, she spoke into the radio. "Alpha Command, this is Chalmers, two birds to rendezvous with O'Neil. Please respond with sector co-ordinates."

Teya hid a smile behind her hand and moved to finish getting her flight gear.  Everyone knew that Lucille always knew what was going on at the Alpha Site.  There were just times that she chose to ignore them, which in Teya's mind made Lucille an excellent commander.  Once she had her flight suit on she followed Lucille to the Iron Maiden.

Hopefully this would be routine enough.  Normally it was easy enough to dispatch the Lucian Alliance, but one never wanted to let their guard down.  She quickly checked through her own gauges and readings to make sure everything was a go as Lucille took care of her end.

"Copy that CIC. Headed there now."

Turk looked over at the general and ducked her head in apology at the woman's correction, smiling sheepishly. "Sorry ma'am. Habit. Some of my female CO's... " She paused, looking for a polite way to say 'were real ball-busters'. "... haven't liked the gender differentiation and preferred the masculine. Won't happen again." Getting back to business, she pulled her hair out of its loose knot that kept it off her collar and into a low ponytail, tucking it under the flight suit but on top of her BDUs, so it wouldn't interfere with her helmet or head movements. 'Sometimes I really think I should just chop it all off.... nah.' She grabbed her helmet again and hurried after Ryse.

"Eh, Antarctica wasn't so bad. A little chilly, but I liked the challenge." She grinned as they approached the bird, and she whistled in appreciation.  "Bigger than I thought. I hope they don't handle like a C130 (http://www.af.mil/AboutUs/FactSheets/Display/tabid/224/Article/104517/c-130-hercules.aspx)." Turk made a face. "Those things are like trying to fly a continent."

"Roll her out please Teya." Lucille gave the order, clearance was given and everything was in the green. She cast her eyes backwards a little to see if the other two girls were mounted and ready. All she could see were the lights in the cockpit at least were on, but that could be the ground crew; Lucille shrugged, they were on the clock. Opening a channel on her radio she called them, whether on their individual earpieces or the cockpit, they would hear her. "Catch as catch can Captains, we'll rendezvous at angels thirty."

"You got it," Teya said, flipping the right switches to get the Iron Maiden moving.  This would be a test for the two new girls, but sometimes trial by fire was that much easier.  Either pass or fail was her way of doing things.  Teya glanced out of the cockpit, making sure everything was going as it should be.

{ Captain Ryse Collins }

Ryse laughs, Yes, it was chilly. Be she enjoyed the cold. Growing up near the Great Lakes, either you grew to love it or you muddled through every nine-month-long winter completely embittered and aching for something better. Besides. Who could ever imagine Christmas without snow? At the comparison, Collins lets out a full bark of laughter. Incredibly appropriate.

"Don't worry, Ally. You'll be in love the second you climb in." She tells her as she does exactly that settling herself into the left pilot's seat. She takes a moment to appreciate the familiar feel of her chair while she waits for Turk to settle herself in as well before continuing. "Now, since we're on the clock here, I'm gonna go through pre-flight and prep rather quickly, but I'm sure you can follow along easily. She warns her fellow captain as she does exactly that. As she works, her actions having become muscle memory at this point, she keeps talking, knowing that her friend is more than capable of keeping up with her ongoing monologue.

"You'll be using both helo and fixed wing training, which will kick in as soon as we're up. She goes into auto in Cycle mode, bringing us out until we're at five hundred metres altitude, two klicks distance from T.O.P. The engineers that designed them wanted to make sure we pilots didn't have any excuse to blame them for the birds crashing." She explains with a grin.

With final checks in, Ryse dons her helmet and returns the general's hail.

"Roger that, Iron Maiden. Pink Parrot is prepped and standing by." She turns off her mic and looks over at Alasen. "I know you love baptism by fire, but you don't hesitate to tell me what's on your mind, got it?" Ryse knows exactly how stubborn her friend can be. This is a whole different ice rink, Turk. You're not sure of anything, you tell me." Her voice is as firm as she can make it, hoping that she's putting every ounce of concern and sincerity she can into her tone.

Craning her neck even that little bit further behind, Lucille saw 'Pink Parrot' lined up on the hardstand behind and off to her right, she could see the face of both girls they were that close. Giving the Captain a 'thumbs' up with a gloved hand then acknowledged the call. "Lets rock and roll ladies. Knowing Jordan she'll be watching from the shelter of our moon, we'll approach from the dark side." She nodded a silent command to Teya, which in essence was 'get us going now'.

Alasen climbs into the bird on Ryse's heels, taking the indicated co-pilot seat and strapping herself in as her peer runs through pre-flight and prep, making mental notes as rapidly as she can. She might not catch every detail this time, but after some time in the seat she guarantees she'll have it all down within a flight or two.

"Interesting," she murmurs as Ryse mentions using both helo and fixed wing training. It makes her think briefly of a Harrier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnell_Douglas_AV-8B_Harrier_II)- one of the few machines she's not been able to fly yet. But since Harrier's don't have space capabilities, this bird has quite the leg up. At the mention of auto pilot and not having excuses for crashing, she snorts in amusement. "Crash. As if," she grins.

She nods at Ryse's final statement, all joking manner gone at the seriousness of the situation, making sure her helmet is settled securely. "You got it, Captain. You will be the first to know. Now let's get this girl in the air." Then she looks sideways at her pilot with a grin and a wink. "'Pink Parrot'? Seriously? Whoever named these is fired."

Teya ran through all of the controls.  Once she was sure all was clear she gave it a bit of throttle to head out.  Hopefully it would be a simple thing to take care.  "Going up,"she grinned as she pulled the throttle back.  Yes, she may have been older, but the thrill of flying was still in her blood.

Once Teya was sure all the controls were still reading properly she aimed the little 401 straight up.  When they hit 30,000 feet she leveled it off.  "Alright, do you see anyone?" she asked.

{ Captain Ryse Collins }

As Ryse puts the bird into Cycle, she grins. "Agreed. I wanted Black Wolf, but they just wouldn't let me. I think that's the reason they used Pink Parrot .... They knew I'd hate it." She tells her, pulling her hands away to let her go into auto.

"I think it was TJ getting payback for me calling him Terry all the time." She confides as the 401 makes her way quickly to the distance required and grabs the yoke as soon as the bird puts herself into manual. Now under any other circumstances, at this point Ryse would have normally put the lead on and whizzed them out of the atmosphere in seconds just to see the look on Turk's face. Wouldn't have been the first time and she finds herself grinning wickedly remembering the incident.

But this was different. They were actually on a mission and she didn't need the General to tear a chunk out of her and put her on some menial task as punishment. So instead, she sticks close to her wing position and follows Iron Maiden into Planetary Orbit (http://lostworlds.megabytetechsolutions.org/index.php?topic=1150.msg26655#msg26655).

Turk settles in as the bird goes airborne, watching Ryse out of the corner of her eye, but more than that: she attunes her senses to the machine surrounding them, taking note of the vibrations, the sounds, the feel of the controls. For once she's grateful they're on an actual mission, and the usual screwing around that pilots like to impose on each other isn't present. This bird is unlike anything she's flown before and she can feel her heart rate increasing at the restrained power she can feel thrumming just beneath her fingers.

'Can't wait to put one of these through it's paces,' she thinks, a smile curling up the corners of her mouth. 'Oh, and don't forget, Turk. You're heading into freaking SPACE. That girlhood dream of being an astronaut? This- kicks that dreams' @$$.'

She settles back into the flight chair and can't hide the delight on her face as Ryse takes them into Planetary Orbit.

The waiting for your birds to come home was always the worst part; the not knowing. TJ had paced so much up and down the hangar he had worn a theoretical path in the reinforced concrete, more or less. His radio suddenly chirping into life though, brought back down. "Yes ma'am. They'll be here when you arrive." He worried though, who was injured, the new girl?

"Medbay, have a team assemble in the Hangar asap please." He said into his coms.

"Copy that Chief, they'll be there in three minutes." Came the reply.

Ryse appears hops down from the 401 and greets the SF's standing there. "Sergeant, Lieutenant." She nods to them each in turn before updating them. "He hasn't given us any trouble so far, but he's pretty banged up so I don't imagine he could if he wanted to. Captain Turcotte has him stabilised as much as possible, but without the proper equipment, we can't tell how extensive the damage is."

<< From PG8-K59 Alpha Site - Planetary orbits >>

Turk follows Ryse's lead and hops lightly from the 401 onto the floor to join her friend, helmet dangling from one hand. "He seems pretty withdrawn," she tells the SFs quietly. "But that could be because of the shock setting in. About all I got out of him was his rank and name: Lieutenant Commander Takeda Akira. Looks to be a marine, but the uniform isn't standard. Lots of broken ribs." She nods at the med team just now entering the bay. "I'm sure they've been briefed on his condition. I don't think he's capable of being a threat at the moment, but always better to be safe than sorry."

She stepped aside as the med team went past, then sighed and scrunched her shoulders up to her ears, pulling then back and down with a physical effort to relieve some of the lingering tension. It had been a long time since she'd seen actual, real time combat, and coupled with the rest of the excitement of the day, she was starting to feel worn out. She leaned forward to speak quietly into Ryse's ear. "Any chance of that drink happening any time soon?"

<Iron Maiden>

The moment Teya brought the Maiden to a halt within the cavernous hangar, Lucille was out of her seat, removing the helmet and leaving that behind; she wasn't going to be caught out again. "Teya, I want you to change the air crews standing orders. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week I want pilots sitting in these birds and prepped to leave at an instant, they can rotate in three shifts. I'm going to press the SGC for another eight birds and crew as well." She left via the side door, running over to the others.

"Lieutenant, I don't care if he is the Easter Bunny, have two SF's guard him round the clock until I say otherwise." That was all she needed to say, the man could be a Goa'uld for all they knew, faking it. She was still taken aback by his sudden arrival just the same.

"As soon as Commander O'Neil arrives, I'll need to speak with all of you in my office. Before I let you loose on the town." She said to Turcotte and Collins, with a wry grin. If she had a store of medals, Lucille would be handing one to each of them, but for these brave crew, getting plastered was all the reward they needed.

Teya pulled her own helmet off when they landed, glad to be rid of that and shook her hair out.  It had been more of a battle then she had expected and somehow they had picked up a person on the way.  That was still a bit worrisome.  Teya nodded.  "Got it.  I'll get right on that."  It made sense.  They didn't want to be caught unprepared again.  Especially when it seemed like the LA was kicking it up a notch.  Teya stepped out of the Iron Maiden and went to see about the changes that needed to take place.

<<Alpha Site Planetary Hangar>>

Jon nodded silently at Jordon's response as he finished landing the 401 into the hangar. The landing was smooth and he finished throttling it down. As the commander prepared to leave her chair, Jon thought for a minute and cleared his throat as he looked up at her with his response, "I get it ma'am I really do. But you know, somewhere in the back of my mind and in my heart I always hope there is a better way. I know diplomacy doesn't work, you know like with terrorists..." He paused for a moment. "...so until that way comes to me, I guess I'll have to look at Earth's enemies as little more than terrorists perhaps."

Being of course an officer and a gentleman, he stood aside to allow Jordan to exit first. Soon as his feet touched the hard ground, Jon removed his helmet and let it hang from his tips as he looked around a bit. It was cool outside. Maybe a bit chilly but he hardly noticed it. On the left of his vision, he noticed the Pink Parrot that had landed a while ago. Medics were swarming a little bit as they helped stabilize and maintain a certain newcomer or survivor. He didn't get a good glimpse of the guy so he was curious.

The crews were swarming the Hangar by busy. He listened and heard the General ordering two guards posted for the newcomer. He kinda felt bad for the newcomer but understood the need for it.

 "That's pretty much the way I see it Jon. I don't like killing for the sake of it, never have. But when you're pressed against a wall, and you find you have no other choice. Do it as quickly and mercifully as you can, simply so we don't sink to their level and become just another barbaric race." Sometimes Jordan could be very philosophical, sometimes. Leaving the Lady Bird, she could feel that shower calling to her, but of course you had to have the de-brief with the CO first.

Walking slowly over to Lucille, taking off the helmet in the process, at last she stood between the others. "Ma'am, we nearly lost you up there, I think we should find a way to ground you." That was said more as a friend than anything else. A commander had no right being up there at the fire  wall, but then you could never tell the Iron Maiden that.

With the SF's in place and the med team fully surrounding the man, Ryse feels comfortable walking with the Commander. She's certain that she's heard Turk's question with the final comment from her and she returns the woman's smile as the final members of the team join them.

"Thank you, Ma'am." It takes all the restraint Ryse has to not bound off towards the office. She really wanted to get out of the flight suit, showered and into some decent clothes so she and Turk could get caught up. There was just SO much to tell her now that they were part of the Program.

 The older woman raised a dark eyebrow at her XO's comment, not so much in the comment itself, that was expected. More, it was Jordan's way of starting a subject without any regard for what had been a rather harrowing event; but then Lucille had come to learn that the woman never put great store in tact. "That will happen when I retire O'Neil, I have a job to do as do you. Dismissed, I'll see you all in my office in ten minutes. Turk hung back a bit, feeling a bit like a fifth wheel, while final orders were given and dismissals from duty received. She nodded acknowledgement to both the brigadier general and the commander. "Ma'am," she said, hoping that a singular address was sufficient for both; she hated the bowing and scraping that one generally ended up doing around multiple higher ups. Too many salutes and "Ma'am"s and "Sir"s flying around.

Which is probably what got her sent to Antarctica in the first place. Oh well.

After watching the medics drag the newcomer away, Jon looked around for a few minutes. He noticed several women standing around the General. In  the entire Hangar bay of the Alpha Site, Jon felt like the odd man out. At least, he still had some value. When the General dismissed them, Jordon tapped him on the shoulder and responded which Jon confirmed with a nod. He let out a sigh and was about to leave when the general approached him with a question.

Jon gulped a bit and collected himself as he responded with a confident face, "I am alright, thank you General. Nothing I cant handle Ma'am. I got some good flying experience out of this, so I am a bit exhausted as well as exhilarated."

The lieutenant stood at attention from his superior officer giving her a respectful nod.

It had been dirthly quiet since the 401's had returned yesterday from their little stoush with the Lucian Alliance, for TJ that was a good thing as it gave him time to do much needed maintenance on the aircraft. His job was a busy one at the best of times but there was always a moment to steal to play cards. That was exactly what he and his team were doing when Teya arrived. "Ten hut!" He told his crew as the cards miraculously disappeared. "Commander ma'am, I didn't expect to see you at this time of the day." His face was showing just a little bit of guilt.

Terry (don't ever call him that) scratched his bald head, seems his predictions on the weather were correct and in foresight he and his crew had prepared ahead of any expected need. "Well ma'am, you're in luck. Old Betsy has just had a polish, full service and is ready to go." He had to make his men relax with a hand signal behind his back, Chalmers had put them so much on edge, it was usually only on TJ's say so that they did in fact go to ease. "You have you team here ma'am, who might be sitting second seat for you?" As he spoke, he led Teya out into the open to show her her favorite bird, he looked pretty damned proud to. TJ doubled as winchman on SAR missions, his own second was also a SAR qualified swimmer. That would be young Able Seaman Emily Harris of the USN.

That made the old guy feel even more proud than he did a moment ago, getting a compliment from Teya always brightened his day. Damn best CAG they'd ever had on base and that wasn't coming from him alone, the General thought the world of her, even though she'd never say it. "Yes ma'am, you know we like to keep everything shipshape around here and that bird of yours as is her sibling over there." His thumb jerked back to a similar SH-60 only in British yellow. "Are our bread and butter, they've more than earned their keep in the short time we've had them here and the Cavaleiros, damn they revere them almost like Gods."  He knew what was on her mind though, Lieutenant Hudson her regular co-pilot had to return home on compassionate leave, so she was without a second. "Commander if I may say so, there's a young Marine pilot who drafted in here yesterday who could more than help you out." The helis were in tip top shape.  Teya couldn't fault them there.  she looked over at the other one and smiled.  "They certainly help keep us going," she agreed.  Without the helicopters they would be hurting.  They relied on them quite a bit and she knew TJ's team kept them running and ready for whatever came their way.  She had no idea how the others felt about her, but she tried her best to be on her toes at all times and kind when the need arose.  There was still a bit of a wild streak in her from time to time.  Teya looked over at TJ.  "Is there now?  Things have been so crazy recently that I must have missed that.  I could certainly go for a good co-pilot though.  We'll need to find him."

As they walked closer to the helicopter TJ began to think on something, he was of course the General's number one spanner man and he doubles as both winchman on the choppers and gunner on the 401's, he'd always gotten on well with Chalmers. "Commander, look I think you should go prep the bird. I'll duck back to my office and give CO and call, can't hurt can it? I mean yes you can fly solo with a crew, but its really not the thing to do in these conditions." He mentioned that as the first drops of rain splashed on his face.

Teya didn't know what was going through TJ's head.  With him it could be anything.  Right now though she had to think about the mission.  She looked over at him and actually smiled a bit.  'I would really appreciate that.  I don't know exactly what we'll be getting into and I would rather have a co pilot to be on the safe side."  She was grateful for TJ's suggestion.  She sighed though as it started to rain.  That could make things harder.

"Won't be long." The portly gentleman told her as she doubled up back to his office. Despite his size, TJ was quite quick on his feet and rather agile. The fitness regime Chalmers had instigated on the base made it so, but he still enjoyed his burgers and fries. A few minutes later he was on the phone waiting for a reply.

Teya nodded.  She headed for her bird to do a preliminary check of everything.  That should give TJ time to make his call.  Somehow she had really gotten behind on the new arrivals to the Alpha Site.

That was all he needed to know and the click of the phone told him essentially the conversation was at an end. Calling the gunnery range and then waiting for the guy to get here cost time, time they may not have if a call came through. He dropped the phone immediately, calling his clerk over. "Dale, here please." His booming voice rang through the hangar.

"Sir!" the fresh faced young man replied running the twenty paces from his desk to TJ's office.

"We're taking the bird aloft, ya'all hang on this phone and the minute you get the call patch it through okay?"

"Will do sir, its looks like its gonna be a bad day if I may say so."

"I know." TJ then moved his heavy frame like greased lightning back to where Teya was waiting at the chopper. "We're a go ma'am, lift off and fly straight to the gunnery range. We'll call Jordan on the way." As he spoke, the rest of the three man crew mounted up.

Teya had run through a quick check on her bird.  She trusted TJ and his men, but it was just something she did every time before going up.  She turned when TJ returned and actually smiled.  "You got it.  All aboard," she said, climbing into her baby.  Leave it to TJ to be able to get that all pulled together.  She just hoped the weather held out long enough to be able to carry out this search and rescue without fear of missing something.

"I copy you Coast Guard, co-ordinates relayed. I'll keep the line open for you." That was standard procedure in these circumstances, at least that was what he had been taught to do. Dale then opened up his radio direct to Teya on the chopper. "Commander ma'am. As soon as you pick up your co-pilot we have a distress call via the Coast Guard. 31.9522 degrees South, 115.8589 degrees East, two casualties."

Teya brought the Jayhawk in for a smooth landing, shutting down the controls once she had set the copter down.  "Final stop," she said, trying to lighten the mood a bit.  "All off."  She herself could go for a warm mug of coffee or hot chocolate.  Not to mention she had promised her team the same thing.  Teya turned in her seat to look back at the others.  "Anything more you need from us, Mike?" she asked.  She wasn't a medic, but she was good at taking orders if the need arose.

Jon watched Teya land the bird skillfully. Its what he would have done and he was impressed. Unlocking himself from the seat and checking the toggles to make sure the copter was powered down, he removed his helmet and opened the door getting out. He however hesitated first wondering if he should report to the captain, Jordon, for his next mission. This seemed to be over, unless she wanted him to help with the injured.

As soon as the copter landed, TJ was the first out sliding open the door. Looking out, he noticed the med team waiting on the standby behind the rotor wash. Looking at both the man and woman, he responded, "Mike and Em. You're up. Let's go."

He helped them prepare the wounded out of the copter.

(http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/melanieoz/My%20Sigs%20and%20stuff/Emily%20Harris_zpszhmtp8cj.jpg)

Now came the rush part. Emily slipped her harness, quietly undoing the straps that held both patients down on the chopper winch baskets, they had small dolly wheels on them so they could be slid straight onto the buggies. Outside she glanced at Mike, nodding in that typical 'we've got this' medivac manner the whole time holding the boys IV bag above him. The first buggy backed in with a beep beep beeping; Emily with TJ's help slid him over without a fuss. "Sir do you want me to ride with him or the father?" She asked still holding the bag.

Elle clapped a hand on her old buddies shoulder, leaning into Teya's ear. "Still nose down Tey, but brilliant flying just the same. One day I'll teach you to fly level." She was joking of course, the nose down attitude was the preferred angle these days, with the choppers being so much faster than the older one Elle had flown. "Mike, we can do what you need us to do, or stay out of the way. I know this part is not our place so its your call." She wanted to hug the man, but now with so many non coms around she had to 'wear' those four bars as expected.

Mike looked out through the open hatch and the approaching buggies, then turned towards the cockpit and Teya with a head shake, “No, thanks, we’re fine. Looks like the cavalry is coming.”
He hung up his helmet and eased himself out of the chopper as soon as TJ told him and kept an eye on the readings from the monitoring equipments as his patients got loaded on to the buggies for transport inside of the base. The winds had subsided some compared to what they’d been like at sea, but the rain still poured down.
Wiping the rain from his face, Mike didn’t think twice as he quickly replied to Em, “I’ll take the kid, I want to keep a closer eye on him in case something happens on our way down.” She might be one of the best medics around, but if that teenager stopped breathing due to his neck injuries, well, no offense, but he had more experience in handling difficult intubations.
He grabbed their bags from inside the door of the Jayhawk and turned towards Elle, “Between the medics here and myself, - we got it from here,” then gave Elle her bag, gently pushing it against her chest while quietly adding “Don’t use your hands more than absolutely necessary now, ok?
As he climbed up in the back of the buggy they’ve loaded Herva’s son on, Mike once again turned towards Elle, “And keep your radio on, I’ll call you as soon as I can. Alright?”

Teya rolled her eyes with a laugh.  "One day I just might let you teach me that," she shot back with a smile.  The two had always been like that with each other.  But it had been great to see her old friend and she hoped that soon they would be able to sit down and talk a bit.  "Go with your man.  One of us should be able to enjoy some male company," she teased.  "I'll find you later."  Teya knew she still needed to get the Jayhawk secure and check it over before turning in for a much needed rest.

As Mike spoke, Em stripped off the 'dry suit', one great big zip down the middle and one on each leg; folding it quickly she looked around for someone to hand it to, the young Lieutenant seemed to be looking for something to do. "Here sir, could you stow this in the chopper for me please." Always polite, simply the way she was, other than when she was decking someone. She returned her attention to Mike and the patients after he had spoken with McFearson. "Aye sir." She was happy with that, waving good bye for now to TJ and Teya.

(http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz37/melanieoz/My%20Sigs%20and%20stuff/Legssiggy_zps98b927e3.jpg)

Well that was how it was, Mike had his job to do and Elle was the last person to stand in his way. She wanted to wrap her arms around him one last time but naturally she didn't and couldn't, protocol and all that getting in the way. "We won't be far Mike, so if you do need me just holler." She at least hoped he would at some point.

Letting him do what he had to do, Elle reluctantly rejoined Teya and TJ. "So, it seems Mike can do without me for a while." Knowing he would hear that, she winked at him over Teya's shoulder. "I'm all yours for the next little while Tey...you've learned all you can girl." Elle had to add that, as it was true.

Teya glanced back at Mike and waved at Emily.  Poor Elle.  She could tell that her friend would rather be with Mike.  "Great.  Then as soon as I get the Jayhawk bedded down I'm free," she grinned, unstrapping her safety belt to climb out.  It would be great to spend some time with Elle.  She was surprised by her friend's words though.  They always teased each other about flying, but she gave Elle a smile.

He gave her a brief salute and turned to head out of the hangers. Via on the way out, he tapped his radio near his ear and spoke connecting to his CO, "Commander, can I speak to you soon when you are free?"

Elle watched Mike and Emily leave with their patients, it had been a rather eventful day so far to the point it brought back some memories both good and bad. Memories of her and Mike's earlier time at the Alpha site and memories of those so early days in her career with Teya and the Navy. Both of those had times she cherished and moments she wished had never happened. Yet she was smiling. "Come on Teya, TJ, lets go see what your larder holds I am starving." Right there and then her battered hands reminded her of that wonderful fish Mike and her left behind, she hoped the Coast Guard boys and girls were enjoying it.

Janine called the tower to ask for clearance. "Tower this is Herky Jerky, request permission for take off." "Roger, Herky Jerky, you have permission for takeoff. Wind is five kilometers per hour from the west. Good luck." "Roger, tower."

With that the cargo hauler was quickly airborne in the direction of the front.

Aurore had made a quick pit stop to the locker room to get a couple of things, but was otherwise already as geared up as she was going to get. She was already in her flight suit, adorned on the left shoulder with the Alpha Site unit patch and on the right was the French flag patch and the top-down silhouette of an F-302 in the tricolor. In a black polymer shoulder rig was her PAMAS G1, the French copy of the Beretta 92FS, and she donned her black aviator sunglasses as she stepped onto the flight line. However, she now had the rest of her flight gear, including her flight helmet.

It had been painted and finished by a friend of hers from EC 2/5 before she left for F-302 training. The front was an elaborate shark face, complete with eyes and rows of teeth around the front opening. The back, however, was black and had a battle worn French flag waving in the wind painted on the back. Above it, in white cursive, read "VIVE LA FRANCE" and below, also in white cursive, "AURORE 'PHENIX' BERGE - Armée de l'Air". The whole thing was a work of art and Aurore had worn it since her first day of familiarization with the F-302.

The ground crews were busy preparing the -401s for launch, and it was a familiar sight to see the organization of a well oiled machine at work. She confidently crossed the hangar towards Hatfield's -401, conducting a walk around of the aircraft out of habit.

>>From Briefing Room via Quarters>>

 Teyla, Kim and Bobbie were not far behind Aurore in arriving, the little underground buggies were immensely efficient for getting around on such a large base as this was. All three women had stopped by their rooms to change and freshen up, grab whatever gear was necessary and for Bobbie that included snacks, lots of them because she was going to be sure there was enough for everyone. Those snacks primarily were made up of high energy bars, the very thing they'd all need soon.

 Traditionally the 401's naming protocol was that the A models carried the names of birds of prey, the heavier B models weather events. In some cases you might see cases of Skua 1 and Skua II and so on; the only exception to this rule was the base CO's personal 401, an A model which in this case belonged to the former Commander Lucille Chalmers, it had been named the 'Iron Maiden' after her and unlike all the other 401's carried an all black paint scheme. This was the aircraft Teyla was flying, indeed it had been the same one that carried the three friends around for the last few days; the 401 of Bobbie's choice was 'Merlin', it had recently been repainted in the new two tone grey rather than the multi-cam colours of the first production models.

 Bobbie saw the ground crews finishing up with the bomb loads as she stepped off the buggy, she caught sight of Aurore doing a visual check of the bird which was heartening to say the least. Most usually left that up to the pilot. With helmet under her elbow she walked across the hardstand to the 401, doing her own quick check with eyeball MKI without impinging on the Commandant's work. Satisfied all was ready, she waited for Teya and Kim before they could commence today's mission. "We're as ready as we'll ever be I guess." She said to Aurore as she caught up to her. "It'll take a few moments for our soldier boys and girls to arrive. Is there anything you need to get caught up with on procedures for the 401 before we leave?"

>>From Briefing Room via Quarters>>

It hadn't taken Kim long to change and grab her gear.  Although she wondered how long they would be out this time.  Hopefully they could put a stop to the Forerunners before they were all running on empty.  She was sure the soldiers on the field were just as worn and ragged as the three of them were.

Teya grabbed the essentials before walking out with Kim ande Bobbie.  She was glad to see Aurore there and checking things out.  She ran a hand through her hair, blowing out a breath.  "How are things looking?" she asked Aurore.  It was good to see the Iron Maiden again.

Kim walked up to her friend.  "Well, looks like we're headed out again," she said, trying to stay cheery.  It wouldn't do any good to fall into a depressed mood after all.

"No, I'm still fairly up to speed on these craft, I'm just only rated as crew, not as a pilot. Not to say I can't fly, I just don't have enough hours to qualify. But I admit I'm in no hurry, I'm more attracted to fighters." Aurore said with a smile, "I still maintain nothing is more pure than flying an Alpha Jet over the Alps. Such a simple machine, it's just you and the aircraft."

"Everything appears to be in order, but I'm noticing signs of fatigue among the crews on all fronts. I'm not sure why if we have so many forces present...I suspect I'm going to have to raise these issues once this is resolved." Aurore said to Teya. That wasn't going to be something she was looking forward to.

As she said this, SG-7 made their way up to the -401s, now all clad in Multicam fatigues and armed to the teeth.

"Major. SG-7 is ready to go, just say the word." Brian said.

 The last to arrive was the MCU with Josile leading them merely for familiarity. It had taken 3 buggies to deliver them and all their gear to the hangar area with the crew Chief WO TJ Meyer directing the MCU to Bobbie's 401-'Merlin', Josile was to accompany SG7 with Commander Renner. With Lt Spencer Josile had been outfitted in the standard SGC day cams, which was similar to the US Marines Woodland variant. She was equipped with a side arm of course, standard issue and the main weapon chosen for her was the Steyr F88 as issued to the Australian forces on the Alpha site. This was done for its pure simplicity of operation, Josile having used it once or twice before when she was being familarized with her Earthern allies some three years ago.

 Bobbie watched as the MCU filed aboard Merlin, she half grinned to herself and Aurore, knowing that those twenty Marines were going to baby sitting 40 something JDAM bombs in their cylindrical racks lining the center of the rear floor. The MCU would be sitting either side 'Herc' style. But then SG7 wasn't going to be in a much different environment, with both 401's carrying identical loads, there would simply be less humans in the 'Iron Maiden'. Then there was Taer and his team, they'd be riding with SG7, still a lot less people.

 "We've been on basically twelve hour watches since the war began Major." She said to Aurore using the more familiar rank designation. "I think what you are seeing more than fatigue is possibly boredom. We've not won the war by a long shot, but we have worn the Forerunners down a lot so the 'waiting around for something to happen' syndrome is written in our expressions." There was something else for her to smile at, something Aurore might find amusing. Bobbie looked over at Kim and Teya when she mentioned the next little bit of useless information. "I saw a memo on Chief Sakai's desk the other day from the Supply officer back home. Apparently we have on the Alpha site consumed more coffee in a month of operation against our enemy, than the SGC has in an entire year."

 It was time to go now, TJ ushered everyone aboard their respective aircraft, Josile filed in behind SG7 to help fill up the seats of the Iron Maiden, the one and only 401 she had been in before. She was surprised just a little to see that she was wearing almost the same uniform as that team; the weapon though she carried being different to theirs. Josile waited respectfully back a little, not wanting to just rush in to take a seat; it wasn't shyness on her part, merely the way the Cavalieros were.

 Back at the Merlin, with Aurore and Kim, Bobbie watched the other teams board the Iron Maiden, she tried to stand on her toes to get a glimpse of Denis but couldn't find him with ground crews still milling about getting the birds unchocked. Four F302G's, the latest incarnation of that venerable aircraft would escort them as far as Forerunner airspace. From there they were on their own. "Its a weird mix to fly Major, in atmo along with take off and landing she flies much like a Harrier, a big fat one. In space, she flies almost as good as the 302, in some respects better, in other respects worse. Its a bundle that you learn to get used to. Nearly all our 302 pilots now have to acquire at least fifty hours on the 401."

 Teya and the Iron Maiden would lead out first, with Merlin right behind her. The 302's were already aloft, they'd rendezvous out over the sea. Bobbie climbed the side ladder, a feeling of heaviness on her heart. Not from anything in particular, just worry. They were going into uncharted waters so to speak, putting yet again lives at risk when they delivered the troops. Surely the Forerunners must realize by now futile their campaign was.

Taer - Marine Captain

Taer and the rest of his team caught up with the people in the surface hangars. They switched and geared up for another mission. It was probably going to be a workout for them. Taer heard they were going to be with SG7 for the ride, so they hopped on. Taking his seat by the rear guard, Taer waited for their ride to start.

Teya walked around the Iron Maiden.  Once she was content that all was in order she climbed aboard.  "Hopefully this will be the boost we all need," she commented.

Kim blew out a breath.  "I'm all for quiet and no wars but this is crazy.  I just want something to break," she grumbled, following Bobbie on board.

"I suppose so. I can't speak from experience, the closest I got to any of the fighting on Earth was Tajikistan, that's where we based from. Even still, it is not something I am happy with, even if I will have to endure being condescended to by whoever is in command of the forces here. Being a French fighter pilot will work against me, particularly if they are American." Aurore said, frowning slightly. She then looked to SG-7.

"Captain, Miss Josile is with your team, please ensure if there is anything she needs to be made aware of in your plans, fill her in." Aurore said, before pulling on her helmet and secured it into place.

"Fortune favors the bold, so let's be bold." Aurore added, before climbing up into the -401 through the side hatch.

"Roger that, ma'am." Brian handed over a gasmask, an American M50 type, as he had packed a spare. "Not sure if you've used one of these before. Part of our plan includes the use of tear gas, a non-lethal chemical irritant."

"What my friend means to say is that you really do not want to breathe this in.
 Your lungs will feel like they are on fire, as will your eyes. Useful if you need to deal with a particularly rambunctious group." Denis said with a laugh as they then boarded the -401.

"I can help get you fitted before we get there, if you'd like." Astrid offered.

The MCU were all finally kitted and on 'Merlin' None of them really getting the name, but also none of them caring to question it. It had taken them a while to get suited and booted, 20 people all changing and rearming in a small space, they had improvised, once you had changed in the middle of an army base, changing in a hallway made no difference. But it was a suprise Abe haddnt ended up with a black eye when Homer's arm suddenly lurched in to his face when his trousers got caught up around his knees and suddenly went past. They were finally all kitted and ready though they had all traded in their M9's for Zat's, given the non-lethal ability of the alien weapon. Though the black holsters didnt match their cayote brown plate carriers, but none of them cared. Most were just a little concerned they had little training on drawing Zats quickly.

<401-32 Merlin>

 The two fat birds sat on the hardstand with only the bright glow of the field lights illuminating them against the black night. The snows of earlier in the day had been bulldozered back to the perimeter bullwarks, leaving a very clean almost sterile looking airfield on this alien world.

 This though was Aurore opportunity to come to terms with 'Fatso' as many of the ground teams affectionately called the 401. She did have other names, some of them off the record and some not for reprint, suffice to say after being rushed into service at the start of 2010, getting rid of her demons and little foibles, she had turned out to be one of the best (if not ugliest) assets in the SGC's arsenal. It was a great thing for Aurore as well, having Bobbie with her, she being one of the lead test pilots from the outset along with Major Jennifer Hailey, Sam Carter, Col Paul Davis and Major Alecia Satterfield. She would be getting the best hands on instruction afforded to her.

 With all the teams now sorted, TJ stood starkly out on the wintery field, a light wind flapping and tugging at his heavy jacket; his light sticks giving direction to the 'Merlin' to lead out first, Teya in the 'Iron Maiden' would of course be the regulation twenty meters behind. "Okay Major, its your bird now. I'll simply doing second seat. As you have gone through the simulator and the basics, its all good from here. The only difference being land based take offs differ to those from the ships, its old school now. We're lined up on 04 west, breaks on, your hand on the throttle with mine on top. Fully forward, rotate vector nozzles at 100 clicks which will come up very fast, take off is semi vertical." She peered down at her CCTV screen, the MCU had settled in nicely, she wished she could have said something to Harley, but they could catch up later.

 Bobbie glanced over her shoulder at Kim, it would be her job apart from Gunnery to see the passengers were safe and taken care of. Although there'd be no time for inflight refreshments, they won't be starving if a snack was needed.

<401-16 Iron Maiden>

 Before boarding, Josile didn't miss the cue from Aurore before they split up, leaving her now in the capable hands of SG7. Using all her best learned courtesies she had mastered since meeting the Eartherns, she dipped her head to all of the team one by one thanking them. "No I've not had the pleasure, or perhaps as you say it might be in this case the displeasure. Although I did witness some of your people using a gas some time ago when our former northern Borg enemies were getting just a little restless. It did seem to calm them down quickly, although I cannot say what form of gas was used at the time."

{Warrant Officer Glenn Briggs - RCAF - Gunner/Tact}

Glenn had hauled himself out of the briefing as soon as it had ended. He needed to make sure that everything was in working order on board the Iron Maiden herself. They had needed a gunner and a tactical officer, to which he was only one of those things but here he was, assigned to the 401. This was a new way of operating and he needed to adapt to it fast. He knew that the war with the Forerunners were only going to drag if they didn't send a message; and Glenn was all too happy to.

Once he was happy with his weapon systems; twin turret plasma cannons and something Glenn was grateful to see, the single 25mm x 7 barrelled GE Gatling gun. He grinned, glancing over to the commander.

"Looks like I'm hoppin' a ride wit' the Iron Maiden after all."

Kim shot her friend a thumbs up.  Everything was in working order on her end.  And so far it seemed like everyone was settled in.  Thankfully they really didn't have any newbies so everyone was used to the protocol and what needed to be done.  Once she was sure they were set she returned to her seat to buckle in and wait for Aurore to get them into the air.

<401-16 Iron Maiden>

Teya went through a quick preflight check just to make sure the Iron Maiden was all set to go.  She had to admit, it was a bit odd not to be sent out with Bobbie and Kim.  Not that she would complain.  They would be good for Aurore and she would be able to adjust to whoever was assigned to her.

Teya turned as Glenn climbed on board.  She flashed him a smile.  She had seen him around and knew most of the people at the Alpha Site.  "Welcome aboard," she grinned.  "Hopefully this won't be a bumpy ride."

Like a professional, Aurore went through everything step by step, being methodical in her approach rather than speedy. However, that did not mean they were in any danger of leaving later than usual, as she lined up the -401 with the runway and finished the final checks.

"Cleared for take off, 1-1 launching now." Aurore confirmed and took the -401 up into the sky.

"Must have been something else. The gas here is rather unpleasant, but effective in this situation, if we need to break up a royal gala or something." Denis replied with a grin as he found a seat. Everyone else shuffled aboard and found their seats as well.

"Right, well, guess introductions are in order, ma'am. I'm Captain Brian Coffin. The charmer there is our demolitions expert, Sergeant Denis Vallois. The brooding guy there is our team sniper, Senior Lieutenant Nikolai Koralov. The lady here is Astrid Lofquist, and the older guy is Doctor Stan Grecko." Brian said, gesturing to each of his teammates.

<401-32 Merlin>

 When the rotation mark rolled by, Bobbie was pleasantly surprised to see Aurore had it in hand, she realized then and there the woman was a good study, having absorbed the finer points of the 401 like an ace pilot should. Once they had started the climb, she took her hand away from the center throttle yoke. "We'll reach a semi orbital height just above the mesosphere at around 85 kilometers in less than two minutes, at that point we simply angle down as the computer will have corrected our course from the GPS positions provided by our navigational satellites." It was all very boring stuff, but important information for Aurore to know. Bobbie glanced out her window briefly to see the 302 escorts coming in from astern, they had been up for a good five minutes ahead of them, it was a beautiful sight to see.

 "Kim, we'll be over the Foreunner's land in about five minutes or so. I doubt they have any kind of surveillance to pick us up, but you never know. Be ready for some serious jamming just in case."

<401-16 Iron Maiden>

 Josile settled in comfortably, this was her second voyage on the 401 now and already she was coming to terms with the concept of flying. This of course though would be her first venture above the atmosphere, that showed in the slight nervous look she wore; stoically pushed back into the rear of her mind. "If you had lived here on my world for some time, you would find that there are many many things that can be regarded as unpleasant when we take the fight to our enemies. Sometimes Captain I think we can be far too squeamish about such things do you not think so? Far better we create a little suffering if the end result is peace; these so called Forerunners have rebuffed every opportunity to come to the diplomatic table, so I feel they need this now more than ever."

 As the ship rumbled forward, Josile pushed back into her seat, fastening the belt a little tighter to make speaking easier. "A pleasure to meet you all. I am more than fascinated by the diversity of your world, the richness of all your lands and people. My hope is that one day I can venture back there again as the last time with your former leader General Chalmers, I was only able to see the near vicinity around your Colorado Mountain and one very quick journey to Washington DC." They were at least pleasant experiences she had to admit. "Josile Seranatel, my official title is 'Rianha' meaning Queen I believe in English, but please, it is more simply a title of office than anything else, I can be as easily challenged for it each four years in Spring." She hadn't lost a fight yet, which would surprise the Eartherns as those challenges are both physical and politically charged.

"My last postings have been in the instructor role, -302s and then Mirages prior.
 Part of it is to be able to pick things up as quickly as you can before you teach them as slowly as you can. As I said, I'm not entirely unfamiliar with this craft, it's just that I prefer the -302. So my efforts were there." Aurore commented with a bit of a grin as she looked over the gauges and readouts. Everything appeared to be in the green, and it came as no surprise there was nothing on the RWR, the Forerunners lacked the technology to trigger any warnings.

<401-16 Iron Maiden>

"Warfare is always ugly and difficult. But if they had chosen to remain sensible and civilized, then we would not be here." Nikolai commented.

"One should take care when fighting monsters to not become one themselves. Or I believe that's how it goes." Grecko added.

"Outside of Astrid, I think you're the first head of state any of us have had to go in with. Although none of us can say we've been in a situation where a head of state is an actual combatant, not just someone we have to protect." Brian explained.

"Ah, I never really dealt with any of them personally. I mean, I was in formations when we did events involving the King and Queen, but they're also not the head of state, either. Sweden is a republic, after all." Astrid chimed in, with a bit of a grin. She knew what Brian meant, she just wanted to pull his leg.

"Well, I happen to know of a lovely farm in southern France you are most welcome to visit, ma'am." Denis said with a smile. Nikolai reached over and slugged him in the shoulder.

"What? I've offered you all that opportunity." Denis retorted.

"We're from all over, ma'am. I was only in Colorado briefly, but I wasn't far from DC for about a year, but I'm from that region, the United States. Nikolai is from another nation, Russia. Denis is from France, Astrid is from Sweden, and Stan's from Poland. Hopefully later on, you'll be able to see more than just the SGC and DC. I think we can all say we've seen some good places." Brian continued, cutting off Denis before he put his foot any further in his mouth.

He had gotten himself comfortable, a smile flashing across his features as the commander welcomed him aboard. "Ah, bumpier the better, right? What's a little turbulence to the craft anyhow?"

It was not long until the ship began to rumble forward.

People who didn't know Glenn would almost automatically have placed him in the 'wild card' category of life, but he was actually far from the wild card many thought him to be. He took his job seriously and professionally, but liked to spice it up by living life on the edge. He listened as the rest of the crew spoke, his blue eyes flicking over to the woman called Rianha as he tried to catch in on the conversation.

"You ever been to Canada, Rianha?" Glenn asked.

<401-32 Merlin>

 As lead on this mission, Merlin was first over the continent with even from 75,000 feet you could see some light coming from the central city precinct, apparently these people were not much different from the humans of Earth, living around the clock for the most part. That told Bobbie that it was no backwater civilization, they had to have a fairly decent population to be not in the 'dark'. That might be a problem for the ground teams. The next thing to think about was delivery, she pulled up the last photo recon images from both the Hermes and the satellites, noticing that both the Royal Palace and the Parliament buildings had semi flat roofs on them, allowing reasonably easy access; for Taer's team and the docks, that was straight forward. So, it was a decision for Aurore, beam the teams down, or a hard delivery via the rear ramp at hover.

 "Instructor pilot and or test pilot, that has been the majority of my career Major, apart from an exchange posting just prior to joining Stargate command with the US Air Force. I saw one single combat mission back home on Earth dropping hard iron on the Taliban. After that its all been out in the galaxies so to speak." She purposely didn't mention Zulu station, that memory still cut far too deeply for her, and Kim as well she knew. "So far we're undetected although even back home we'd be hard to notice at this altitude. Its time though for you to decide ma'am, how we deliver our teams. I'm inclined to think beaming would be the safest, that way we can pull the ships out quickly to do our own jobs."

 Bobbie glanced at the video feed from the rear CCTV, she was concerned for the MCU, and rightly so, they were being thrown into the hornets nest head first. Whether they went for a parliamentarian, or someone in the military it didn't matter as both would she assumed be heavily guarded. Though of course she doubted the Forerunners would be expecting anything a brazen as this from their enemy. She flicked the 'ready' green light on in the troops compartment, then notified Kim. "Stand by Kimbo, we'll be over them shortly. As soon as we have delivered the MCU, be ready to arm our ordnance."

<401-16 Iron Maiden>

 It was a rapid fire conversation, very similar to a meeting of the elders back home, something that Josile could warm up to very quickly. Though of late she had been somewhat closed mouthed with the war and all the sorrow that brought with it; she had a lot of her mind of late, this last she prayed would put an end to it. Though for now she was enjoying the moment with these people, they were after all in a way kin. She looked up through the door in front of her when the crewman spoke up. "Josile will do nicely thank you and no, as I explained to the Captain and his team my visit on your world was all too brief and limited. I will say to all of you though." She turned to catch the attention of Brian and his team. "My plans are to return soon, you see some of your historians have been doing a lot of research on my people, language, DNA samples and so on. It appears that when that race you know as the Asgard, or in our case their cousins the El'Dari transplanted us here with the first of our people, those ancestors of mine came from a region you would refer to as Iberia, with our language similiar to your present day Portuguese, with differences of course. Our horses came from both there and other realms in the galaxy, our long lived lives I believe came from our contact with the ancient El'Dari who live on this world." She breathed in deeply. "In essence, we are of Celtic stock I think is the correct term, but some of our people are also related to you Astrid, being of your race as well. For me to one day very soon go back and trace some of those origins, would answer a lot of questions for our people."

<SG-7 to Iron Maiden>

 The return trip was rather uneventful, something of a let down after the heightened activity of the previous few hours. That didn't bother Josile all that much, she took the time to rest grabbing a brief sleep as best as she could. It wasn't to last long as she felt the change in attitude of the craft when they came closer to the Alpha site. She looked down at the so called 'Empress', the creature hadn't stirred apparently, a light snore emitting from her. "I must get some of that gas for myself, there are a few of my people I'd like to see sleeping like that." She was thinking of one or two political enemies she'd love to use it on.

(https://i.imgfly.me/2s83D.jpg)

<Merlin>

 "Everyone okay?" Bobbie asked over her coms as they made their final approaches. She was wondering though what the next step was to be now they had managed their goal. Turning her head as much as her gear would allow her, she confirmed her statement to Bobbie, getting Aurore to back her up with a nudge. "I meant it Kim, not often do we create such havoc with such accuracy. The Forerunners themselves should be grateful for that, with as little lives lost as possible."

<Iron Maiden>

As they touched down, Brian shifted his weapons and gear to be out of reach while moving the prisoner. Astrid removed the handcuffs and replaced them in her tactical vest.

"This was a result of the Intar rounds, madame. The gas was what made them all cough violently and unable to see very well. I broke a couple of windows before we left to keep them from choking on themselves while knocked out." Denis said.

Once the prisoner was just awake enough to be moved, Brian hauled her to her feet, keeping one hand on her left wrist and his other around the back of her neck, standing behind her. Stan and Nikolai descended the ramp first, greeted by arriving security personnel but they remained at the base of the ramp to cover the prisoner. Denis remained behind the two of them with Josile. Astrid swung her Ak5C back to bear, and fixed her gaze on the prisoner while racking the bolt on her rifle loudly, cycling out one Intar round for another into the chamber.

It was purely for intimidation, as Astrid kept right next to the two as Brian directed the prisoner down the ramp, indicating that if Her Majesty got unruly, there would be immediate consequences.

<Merlin>

"That will be something we will take care of later. You both did well, I'll make sure to indicate as much. But we have a more immediate matter to take care of if we're to put an end to what brought us here in the first place." Aurore said. Touchdown was easy enough, as was taxiing to where the armed security troops were waiting. Once that was done, she opened up the craft for disembarking and powered it down.

Aurore removed herself from the seat harness and swiftly made her way out of the craft. She handed off her helmet to one of the crew chiefs before heading over to the other -401, wanting to see who it was that had set this world ablaze. And as the ranking officer on the mission, it was her responsibility to oversee this matter. The rest would come later.

Teya carefully put the Iron Maiden down, not wanting to jolt anyone.  She soon landed without a hitch and turned in her seat.  "Thank you all for flying Alpha Site Air.   Everyone watch their step as they disembark," she smiled.

Kim sat back in her seat with a stretch.  "Man I'm just glad it went as smoothly as it did," she said,  so much could have gone wrong.   And they could have lost so many lives.

The Marines all took their seats, pretty proud of themselves, it wasnt like they had done anything difficult. But as far as they knew, they haddnt killed anybody and had run the whole mission as non lethal. Which was an odd task for them considering their job was typically to kill lots of people in support of a standard SG team. As the ship landed they all stood, most of them chatting, Though Captain Lawler, Lieutenant Spencer Gunnery Sergeant Cooper and Staff Sergeant Espisito were all talking quietly, writing on note books, just little things about the mission, as the MCU was so large only those four gave full reports. Though it would be likely that Ramirez and maybe Iles would be asked to fill out reports to, they were not expected to hand any in with out question, it was mostly because they often went on operations with other teams and typically stuck close to one another. No real point in having 20 reports that all said the same thing. Where as a typical SG team had a variate of roles, all of whom gave different spins on their reports. The MCU were all Combat Marines, meaning that their reports were less likely to vary.

Taer settled into his seat along with his able sg fifteen team. They couldn't have done a better job currently. When the Iron Maiden set down to unload the passengers to the Alpha Site, they left their seats to await their next order. Taer assumed a briefing was coming soon. Exhaling a beathe of air, he followed them all out of the 401 and onto the ground.

<Iron Maiden to Briefing Room>

 "Most effective." Josile commented to Denis as she began to disembark. She filed in beside the slightly awake prisoner, letting her know their intention which was to force her to walk. A nudge in the back went to enforcing that action. "Move along M'lady." She said sarcastically, giving Astrid a knowing look.

 {The Empress Princess Alia} NPC

 The young woman Forerunner wasn't going to do this easily, she struggled against the rough hands laid upon her, the worst offender was the hand to her neck. They had her in a vice grip, for although she was much stronger than they, the actions applied to her made it that much more difficult to the point she could quite easily damage herself. In her peoples customs to do that would be much akin to someone else doing the same thing, so she ceased resistance but not from her mouth. She understood the language used quite clearly, retorting in kind. "You will all pay for this. Laying a finger on my royal person brings immediate death, do not think my people will..." She stopped as a hard fist from Josile in the girl's side shut her up.

 "You will speak when spoken to and not before." She tilted her head in the direction they were to go. "Commander Renner, I may have to ask use of your craft again later in the morning if that would be acceptable." As she spoke, Josile watched Captain Taer join them. "Did you enjoy our little foray into the world of the enemy?" She asked him, making eye contact with Astrid as she did so.

<Merlin to Briefing Room>

 Bobbie scrambled from her seat, gave Kim a quick nudge as she passed, going down the stairs to the rear section then opening the back cargo door for the MCU to march out. They could be proud of themselves, she said so. "Good job you all did, I'm pretty sure someone up the tree will hear of it." She twisted her head around back to Kim. "Come on Kimbo, we have a mile of paperwork to fill in." That of course would come after the de-brief. Catching up to Aurore, Bobbie matched the other woman's pace. "So, now we have the b*tch, what comes next do you think?"

<Flight Line to Briefing Room>

Aurore raced over to where the prisoner was, mentally cringing when Josile struck her. She stepped in front of them, causing Brian to stop. The pilot straightened up before speaking.

"In accordance with military and civil laws, I hereby declare you a prisoner of the Tau'ri and Cavaleiros. You are charged with several war crimes and conspiracies to commit war crimes. A legal tribunal will be convened to determine your guilt or innocence at a future date. You will be provided legal representation of an unbiased nature, but you are to be made aware that anything you say or do is admissible as evidence against you." Aurore said and then cleared her throat, "Now that the legalities are out of the way, I am Commandant Aurore Berge, Executive Officer of this facility. You are here for one simple reason; this war is going to end. You can choose to do so peacefully, or you can lead your people to ruin."

With a degree of pomp that Aurore wouldn't normally show, she turned to the security team leader. "Sergeant, take custody of our...guest...and show her to her new accommodations. Everyone else, this way, we have our post-mission debriefing."

Brian handed over the Empress over to the Security staff before falling in to head to the briefing room. After they parted company with the target, Brian set his M4 to safe and swung it over his back, before looking to his teammates.

"Good work out there, SG-7. I've got a good feeling about us as a team going forward. I just hope that we get to do the normal ops of an SG Team instead of fighting wars." Brian said as his teammates followed his example.

"Not the most auspicious of starts, but I agree. We have a strong team." Nikolai added.

With his group watching his backside, Taer observed the Empress. He listened and observed what the others were doing. They had an accomplished mission and stopped the Empress of the Forerunners from doing more bad things. It was a good mission.

Approaching Aurore, he spoke offering his services, "Major. I volunteer to watch over the Empress if you can spare me? I will make sure she will cause no more trouble."

Not ever having heard anything quite so formal being used on a prisoner, Josile had to show she was impressed. Her own people while warriors with a hard streak at heart, never really treated their own captives as badly as what their reputation might paint of them. They were housed and fed, given clean clothes and decent food until such times as had happened in the past a prisoner exchange could be arranged. That was the way of things, she understood this from her Earth friends to be so as well.

The situation with the Empress though might well prove different. Whether her people complied with the demands to be made upon them was something to be revealed in the very near future. If they failed to agree, what might happen to the Forerunner Royal was something she couldn't foresee, hopefully the best thing that might happen was to bring the enemy to the Peace table. She watched as the captured Princess was led away still protesting until one of the guards gagged her. "Thank you Commander Renner, I will though await the appropriate time to pass with your commanders briefing, though I should mention it won't be a long trip."

Three small underground buggies pulled up to transfer everyone to the base proper, to walk was a good twenty five minutes, this was far more convenient.

After discovering that there had been a communication gaffe and she wasn't slated for -401 flying, Aurore instead went to check on the arrival of the NATO units. But that went by the wayside as she was asked to check out her F-302 that had been customized for her use.

It was one of the new models, the F-302C single seat variant, but the exterior was quite distinctive. Most F-302s, regardless of nationality, seemed to bear one of two colors selected by the US Air Force. Either they were the lighter "ghost" grey or they were the dark "Strike Eagle" grey. There was rumor that this was bent a bit on the UNS Dreadnought, but largely, few were anything other than light or dark grey. Aurore's was neither.

It was painted in the same sky blue and blue camo livery favored by French Air Force Mirage 2000s (Rafales sadly were only in the same boring air superiority grey). Accordingly, the roundels had also been replaced with French ones, circular with red, white and blue, an inverse of the RAF's. The tail, rather interestingly, bore both the Alpha Site insignia and the insignia of her last squadron posting, EC 2/5.

As she inspected the craft, she climbed up the ladder to see her name and callsign in red cursive under the canopy. That earned a smile. And she now wanted to go get her Aldo from her office and take this fighter up...

She was just about to summon the crew chief, an American Air Force Master Sergeant, when the call came in.

"Alright, I'm on my way. It would appear that my flight in the -401 was postponed anyways." Aurore made her way down the ladder and back for the building. A pity, she thought, it was good flying weather today...

Chaos. That was all there was for it. The craft that had been on the flight line, plus fuel trucks, Humvees and other vehicles that were milling about and in line of site of three of the base's Centurion C-RAM point defense weapons were wrecked. The turrets, shaped like an inappropriate change to R2-D2 from Star Wars, housed some of the most advanced fire control systems paired to a mainstay in American aviation - the 20mm M61 Vulcan cannon, a six barrel rotary cannon that when it fired, sounded like a giant ripping a seemingly endless tarp.

The 20mm shells were enough to wreck all of the aircraft on the flight line, as well as the support vehicles in view, and cause plenty of casualties. Medics were trying to help people while firefighters were rushing to put out the fires.

Looking around, Astrid gasped wordlessly.

"Merde. Chief, any plan can't involve our aircraft, they were not bluffing of how much control they have here." Denis pointed out.

"...not only that, they have almost any angle for watching us." Astrid added quietly. The CWIS guns, which had been the guardians recently installed here, were now like mechanical watchdogs, their electronic eyes watching and their teeth definitely worse than their bite - the Brrrrrt wasn't nearly as bad as the High Explosive Incendiary rounds that it produced.

 The scene that greeted them was nothing but devastation, a grim reminder of what was possible when your own people went rogue. Before her and Denis left the main center of the Alpha Site, Miki checked in with the command bunker. They were okay, yet it took some convincing to get them to even speak to her via the wall intercom outside; they weren't about to open that blast door for love or money and she didn't blame them. She left them with the task of trying to hack into the hack, with one of the civilian technicians telling her and Denis they have been trying ever since the attack with no luck. 'Keep trying' she admonished them.

 As they skirted around the gun turrets, seemingly quiet for the moment. Denis, Miki and now two other bikes had joined them, Astrid and Nikolai. It was easy for them to have caught up, as one other task done was to call the base defense command. Luckily that was outside the main complex like the Airfield and they found once outside the cellphones did actually work. There was a downside though, no help was forthcoming from the Cavalieros for some while yet as they were busy fighting several forest fires. That message rang alarm bells, it was a little early in the season, were they deliberately lit to do just that, draw the locals away? More questions to be answered.

 "No they weren't." She said angrily taking one last look back at the carnage before leading them to a side entry to the main hangar. Two things were obvious, the large front blast doors to the building was closed, you could see hundreds of pock marks in the steel casing, and lines of concrete leading to the door where the CWIS bullets were heading; the door was probably sealed during that attack. There was a coded entry panel on the side, Miki entered her code only to get the reject alarm. A rather heated voice came through the intercom.

 (https://cdnw.nickpic.host/rzvuZ2.jpg)

 "What the hell is going on and how the **** do I know its you Chief?" He said a few other less savory things, much of which Miki wished she could have said herself.

 "You owe me thirty dollars from a game of dice two years back TJ, Christmas eve to be exact." That was all she could think of, only her and a few airman would have known that.

 More swearing and the interlock made a clunking sound as it released. Miki turned to those with her. "Come inside quickly just in case they are watching." Now she was as nervous as a cat. Who were these people.

 Inside the vast hangar the scene was marginally different; there was damage, taken before the doors were closed. One 302 had a collapsed nose wheel and one of the 401s took quite a few hits across the nose. Both were being worked on, with even pilots lending a hand. "Now, can someone tell me what in the good Lord's name is going on? We have lost all contact with base both by radio and cellphone, they do at least appear to working beyond the base though." He started loudly then wound down with his last words.

 "Astrid, Denis?" Miki was as puzzled as anyone. "By the way where is Commander Renner and her crew?" She asked.

 "Over there, getting down and dirty." He pointed to another 401, one of the main thruster engine pods was on a gantry being lifted back into its place. It seemed like most of the fitters were more than likely outside helping where they could.

Teya growled under her breath as she rapped her knuckles against the 401.  Her knuckles were bruised and bloody, but she wasn't complaining.  She was still alive.  Unlike many of her comrades.

She slid out from under the 401 when she heard a voice she hadn't expected to be here and then TJ's grumbling.   "Chief?" Teya asked, walking over to the group as she wiped her greasy hands on a rag.  Grease was smeared across her cheek as well and her hair was a tangle.

 Hearing the voices, another dirt covered figure slid from beneath the 401 on a mechanic's slide skid; she was dressed in dark blue overalls that fitted her nowhere. A utility cap on backwards, her dark hair pulled back tightly in a pony tail. Bobbie had one hand bandaged. (some things are often far hotter than you expect).

 "Well, I guess you all came down to see what's left? Would you like an inventory?" Her tone wasn't pleasant as you would expect.

 It was agreed the word needed to be sent out and in a way the invaders couldn't get a handle on. While getting a 401 into orbit from within the confines of the hangar wasn't a huge problem, merely doing it as had been done before by creating a hyper drive event. The risk though was considered too high and so it came down to just hope. Hope that a subspace message sent from the 401 inside the hangar would be picked up by the nearest 304, or even the Victory and hope that it wasn't picked up by the wrong party.

 Five attempts later, Sergeant Vallois and Specialist Lofquist got through with their signal being picked up by the Apollo. Help was on the way.

 Not bad aiming. With the aircraft hangars on the Alpha site being so big, it wasn't hard for the team and a half to be set down at the rear behind a 401. Bonnie doubted those within might have even noticed them, or the beam itself. She was by coincidence the first to appear and while she could hear voices coming from up near the front some 100 yards away, she kept quiet until the rest of the team joined her.

Within seconds behind Bonnie, Al and the rest of the team appeared near her. Orientating himself quickly he made an on the spot assessment of the situation. "I won't have to remind any of you how damned serious this is. We need to be on the very top of our game from the start to the end. Both Taer and Guy stood at attention in the hangar bay. The captain watch Guy wander off toward one of the 401. Probably inspecting it. Shrugging, Taer walked toward the Colonel and responded, "Sir. We should stop by the Armory to stock up. Should be somewhere close by in the base."

He was glad to be back home at the Alpha Site even for a bit. They needed to resolve this hostage situation soon. Standing ready, Taer knew exactly where the armory was.

"Yeah it is." Al grunted. "Fifteenth floor inside the base. No I'm afraid we'll have to make do with what we have, or unless they have anything extra to spare here. Come on, we've wasted enough time." Leading them forward, he saw a flight crew milling around one of the 401's, he wasn't familiar with any of them, vague faces who had at one time or another passed through the SGC. "Colonel Reynolds, SG9 and whats left of SG22, who is in charge here and I mean here not down at the base?" The older blonde looked like the most likely suspect, especially after seeing Renner, Commander USN on her name tag.

 While waiting Bonnie poked her head inside the nearest 401, the one they were standing near. Her sharp eyes saw what might help after Taer posed the question. "Captain, Colonel. There are weapons lockers in the 401, that might help I'm sure." Tilting her head to Bryan she said simply. "We're gonna need a bigger truck." Then head forward to the other side. "Lieutenant Donovan how much can you carry sir?"

 (https://cdnw.nickpic.host/rzvhkN.jpg)

 "Colonel Reynolds, I'm Flight Lieutenant Hatfield. The commander and I were talking to some of those who made it out, they left again to see if they could round up some of those on leave in town." She looked to both Teya and Kim for support, they weren't soldiers and while all SGC personnel from a basic cook right up to the top of the tree received two weeks SG training, it wasn't the same as actually doing it as these people did.

Bryan raised a brow as he stepped up behind Bonnie.  "Bigger truck huh?  We'll have to see what we can do about that."  He looked around the hangar.  There certainly weren't many here and he wondered how many of the ones here were still able to fight.  From what they had been told things were really messed up and there had been quite some battles.

(https://i.imgfly.me/21YZ4.jpg)

Teya stepped up beside Bobbie.  Bobbie had pretty much done a good job at recapping.  "Good to meet you, Colonel Reynolds.  Just sorry it's under such bad circumstances."  She blew out a breath, still not sure how this had happened.  "I'm Commander Renner and the one in charge right now."  She gestured to the ones around her.  "As you can see we're quite a rag tag team here," she said, grinning a bit.  They might not have been fighter, but they would all do what they could to support the ones around them and get their fellow friends and colleagues out of danger.

Kim stood by her friends.  There wasn't much for her to add at the moment.

After looking around the Hangar for what they needed, Guy walked up to Bryan's and Bobbie's side offering, "Let's look for that truck and see if it will run. We might as well pick up a few weapons along the way. I'll carry them as well. Commander," Guy nodded at Teya respectfully.

Captain Taer Amir, SG9 XO

"Yes, sir," Taer nodded following the Colonel toward the group. He stood at attention observing the actions of the group. There wasn't much for him to say for now.

Be that as it may, we will remove these SOB's as quickly and as cleanly as possible." Al knew they wouldn't be alone, just when extra hands might arrive was the question. He was reasonably comforted at least that the team were in good spirits.

"It's a play on a car ad Sergeant, as in 'we're gonna need a bigger boat'. I thought all you country boys drove a Jeep." He preferred his old Land Cruiser, tough as nails. "You lot go see what you can find, while I work out with the Commander and Hatfield here, what we do next." He directed all of them to go rummaging through the three 401's still intact. Returning his attention to Renner he had to ask. "Is that old bear TJ Meyer still around?"

 "Excuse me a moment." Bobbie was receiving a radio transmission, as of course was everyone else, though it was directed at her.

 "Hatfield, this is Major Harris Denholm, I have managed to round up eighty of our people and we've picked up weapons from the Cavalieros stores.  "Copy that Major, Colonel Reynolds and SG-9 is here, I'll let him know."

 "Roger, standing by. Oh and Chief Sakai is with us."

 "We're not alone Colonel, Commander. I take it you both heard?" Tapping Kim on the shoulder she spoke low to her. "We might need a hand from Josile on this, I last saw her very early this morning down by the lake. Take a horse from the stables and get to her as quickly as you can Kim. Its bad enough Denholm calling us by radio, I don't want to risk tipping our hand too much."

 (https://k.nickpic.host/B2fmlj.jpg)

 "Truck." Bonnie giggled. Although it wasn't a bad idea since she figured the underground tunnel system might be risky right now. "On it sir." She said, tagging Bryan, Taer, Donovan and Guy. She moved to the nearest ship, then into its weapons locker. "Bingo!" She shouted from within. M4's, P90's and MP5's with ammo. A couple of Zats went into the load she was piling on the seats.

Lt. Donovan stepped up to the open aircraft and viewed  the assorted weapons being brought our by the spunky airman"Good job there Bonnie,this will help all of us get this mission going.Donovan quickly secured a P-90 from the seat,along with the requisite ammo and also eyed an M-4,with its ammo pack. Stepping back from the doorway,he tried to spot a vehicle that they could use.

Bryan bit back a chuckle, but couldn't suppress a grin.  A slight breath escaped his lips at the news they were given.  At least they wouldn't be doing this alone.  Not that they wouldn't have still tried.  Bryan jogged after Bonnie, peaking over her shoulder.  "Good find there, Heckman," he teased.  "That should definitely help."

(https://i.imgfly.me/21YZ4.jpg)

Teya nodded a bit.  "I hope so," she said, feeling a bit irritable now.  Although so far they had been doing their best to keep in good spirits.  She was still irked that someone had managed to get into their base.  A slight smile touched her lips at Bobbie's words.  "That is definitely good news.  The more help we can the cleaner and quicker this should go."

The blonde laughed.  "Oh he's around.  Think he's still hiding under a 401 somewhere," she grinned.  TJ had been a big help in keeping them all grounded.  "Although, I do believe we need to get inside.  With Miki being found I'm not sure who that leaves with Colonel Bixby.  We must find a way to reach her and get her out."

(https://i.imgfly.me/21Cm6.jpg)

Kim nodded as Bobbie whispered to her.  "You're right.  I'll be back as soon as I can," she promised.  She slipped away from the group, heading out the back door and to where a few horses grazed contentedly.  Thankfully the horses were well trained and didn't run at the slightest sound.

"Hey girl," she crooned to one of the bays that she had taken a liking to.  The horse lifted her elegant head and whickered softly.  Kim smiled and reached over to scratch the blaze on her delicate nose.  "Let's find Josile."  Kim quickly tacked the mare up and swung on, aiming her into the woods and hopefully safe passage into town to find Josile.

Tech. Sergeant Guy Hart

With a sigh shaking his head, Guy groaned, "Sorry sir. I knew what she meant. Just distracted." He nodded at Reynolds and followed Bonnie when she tagged his shoulder. Looking ahead, he noticed Taer already ahead of them.

Captain Taer Amir, SG9 XO

Following Bonnie inside, Taer gathered the weapons that he could carry. The weapons were being dispersed among the group. Taking some weapons and ammo for himself, he spoke, "Looks like we got everything? Let's get going."

Watching Guy approach the small group, he handed his weapon over for him to take it. There was enough for everyone.

"I heard yes, I'll respond to him in a moment." Formulating a plan wasn't hard, implementing it was going to be as far as Al was concerned. And they needed as much on their side as possible. "Commander, Flight Lieutenant, I can't order you and indeed I know you both have had limited combat experience on the ground; but if you think you might be able to hold a rifle point and shoot I'd be glad for the extra firepower." He knew TJ wouldn't say no. "Meyer get you big backside over here!" He called in the general direction Teya indicated.

Waiting for a response, he called his team together once they were done with the weapons, he'd grab extra himself shortly. "Right people, we need to get someone inside, that will be you Heckman and Hart. Your mission is twofold, locate Colonel Bixby and get her out, as with anyone else in the firing line. Second, shut down the base computer systems and the lighting, but leave the power on, we'll need that for opening and shutting blast doors." He watched the blonde sergeant tear off to find Josile and while he had never met the woman, he had heard a lot about her and the Cavalieros.

"The rest of you will be with me, we'll meet up with Major Denholm and his group by the main entrance, we'll then assault the base section by section. Any questions?" Tapping his radio Al made the call. "Denholm, its Reynolds, have your group meet us at your destination." He didn't need to say 'gate'.

 The sound of a mechanics trolley made a scraping noise as it slid from under one of the 401's. A balding middle aged thick set man appeared wearing like almost everyone, dirt stained coveralls, his head wasn't much cleaner. "Keep your shirt on Al, give an old guy a chance will ya?" He dragged himself out further to stand. "And you don't have to brief me, I heard it all so you can count me in."

 (https://cdnw.nickpic.host/rzvhkN.jpg)

 The Aussie brunette gave an almost evil looking smile, one that said retribution was on the way. "Sergeant Paine and I have gone up against the Borg Colonel, face to face and the Lucian Alliance and I don't mean from the safety of our 401." She shivered at the thought of their capture almost a year ago now, memories like that don't fade quickly. "We'll stand with you sir and as for Commander Renner, she's no slouch either behind a gun." Bobbie winked at her friend and mentor, as if to say 'we're volunteered ourselves already didn't we?' She gave TJ the thumbs up which he duly returned. "Since we don't have eyes on down there Tey, I think its safe to say Michelle will most likely be guarded by these creeps, assume the worst situation always I've learned. I doubt though they'd injure her, they need her alive for some reason otherwise Miki wouldn't have gotten away like she did."

 (https://k.nickpic.host/B2fmlj.jpg)

 "Thanks Lieutenant." Always wanting to be useful, Bonnie never wasted an opportunity to say thank you when she was complimented. Gathering all they needed, the younger member of the group rejoined with the Colonel, listened to what he had to say then added her own view. "Colonel, we'll need a few things, tools mostly. If we're going to get in by any method it needs to be as quiet as possible. Mister Meyer, do you have any of those small hand held plasma cutters around here?" She asked, her face more or less showing her thoughts. At the same time she was more worried for Bryan and the others of the team who were going up against these mongrels.

 TJ sized up the young woman, he had heard about her and the miracle recovery she made after the Hozgura  war when he had been assigned to the Hammond. "We do and I can see where you're going. Also, you'll both need to ditch your boots and wear a pair of soft soled sneakers. We have them for the aircraft fitters so I'm sure we can match your sizes, plus knee pads."

 "Thank you sir, that is exactly what we had in mind." Her eyes met Bryan's, an unspoken look of support was sent his way, she wasn't about to say 'good luck' as that right now was unwarranted. "Anything else Colonel?"

Bryan gave Bonnie a smile.  He hated separating from her, but had a feeling that she would need Hart's specialized skills.  Bryan would make sure to keep the others occupied so that Bonnie and Guy could get in and out.  He just prayed they would stay safe.

(https://i.imgfly.me/21YZ4.jpg)

Teya nodded a bit.  "I would have to agree.  If they didn't want Bixby alive they would have done her in already."  Teya didn't even want to think about that option.  Michelle had started to feel like family.

She grinned at Bobbie and nodded.  Yeah, they had just volunteered themselves.  "She's right.  We have all had our fair share of wielding weapons.  And now certainly seems like the time to pick up our weapons."

Tech Sergeant Guy Hart

Guy found himself next to Bonnie and listening to TJ. He nodded referring to the shoes, "Okay. Thanks, those will work. Looking at Bonnie, he inquired, "I think that should be all we need, right? That and plasma cutters."

Standing by, Guy found himself ready to go. Taer watched his team work and stood by ready to head out first on Al's cue.

Well all he could say was 'so far, so good'. Now satisfied things we in as best as place as they could be Al realised they either had a forced march of a mile to meet up with Denholm, then another half mile trek to main entrance, or as suggested before they take the wheeled option.

Since there were now a few of them as he looked about, one vehicle, the Humvee in the corner wasn't enough, he scanned the hangar a little more, seeing the tyres of another beyond one of the 302s. So two vehicles. "We'll operate as two teams then once Heckman and Hart are inside. I hope you don't mind Commander, Mister Meyer here has more experience in this type of situation, so he can lead your team. Lieutenant Donovan, you can back up Meyer's group. We'll see what else when we get to the rendezvous with the Major." Had they forgotten anything, he was sure they hadn't. "Walker, make sure we've got enough flash bangs, we'll need them." Yes there was that.

 "TJ, Commander, Flight Lieutenant, you do have change of gear around here don't you?" While coveralls were fine, they weren't exactly combat ready. Although just adding a Tac vest might be enough. "No Bonnie, that's all there is. Get your gear together in those two Hummers, we'll leave in five minutes."

 "We do Colonel. Up here since we're often isolated from the main base for an entire shift or three which can be three days at a time; we have to be prepared for any eventuality. Back there..." He hand indicated in the general direction of a set of stairs leading downwards off to their far right. "..we have billeting, a dorm style one for us chicks and one for the blokes, bathrooms, a kitchen and all the mod cons. Give us five minutes." Bobbie bunched her eyes up at Teya, sometimes down there it was like a college pyjama party. A wry smile crossed her lips.

 (https://cdnw.nickpic.host/rzvuZ2.jpg)

 TJ squinted in the dust filled light. "Me? Colonel, well yes I suppose so, although it has been some time since I last..." Then he recalled it had been around two months or so, down south with the good old Borg band. Yeah that was rockin alright. "Okay then." He turned to Teya and Bobbie. "We have a team and that includes you Lieutenant Donovan." He didn't know the man, he did know that Australians were fairly reliable to a degree. "Downstairs it is then, I'll be within five." He took off before the ladies, moving at a good pace despite his bulk.

 (https://k.nickpic.host/B2fmlj.jpg)

 "We're set then sir, except Mister Meyer's accessories that is." Her hand reached for Bryan, giving him a reassuring squeeze to let him know she'd be okay. From there she led Guy off to the locked TJ told them about to find the sneakers and knee pads. Luckily there was a new unworn pair available, she hated wearing shoes others had worn, one reason why she bought her own bowling shoes even if she and Bryan only went once every blue moon. "We should carry a few gas canisters I think Guy." She said to him down low, they had their own masks, so that wasn't a problem. But if they were going to be crawling around the upper ducts, dropping a canister here and there was completely demoralising for the enemy.

 Back with the others, Bonnie hauled up her pack with weapons. "So Hummers it is sir?" She had caught where he was looking at earlier.

Teya nodded.  "Makes sense to me, sir." She trusted TJ with her life and had no problem following him.  She bit back a giggle as She realized what had Bobbie grinning.  "Right behind you, " she assured her friend as she hurried after Bobbie.

(https://i.imgfly.me/2116A.jpg)

Bryan returned Bonnie's squeeze.  He hated parting with her, but he also knew she could take care of herself.   "Stay safe you two," he said as they walked away.  He then moved over with Reynolds and the rest of the team.

"Right," Guy muttered after finding himself stuffing some of his pockets with some extra of those. They headed toward the HumVees, as Taer picked up the pace, "Alright. Lets get going. Good luck to you two and to all of us."

Not more than five, less than ten minutes later they were set to go. Two Hummers, two teams more or less. SG-9 in the lead vehicle, with Al giving over the driving to Captain Taer; the second vehicle Meyer, the remainder of SG-22 (Sergeant Hart and Captain Donovan), along with Commander Renner and Flight Lieutenant Hatfield.

"Move us out Captain, the Major is waiting. Once we're at the main gate to meet with his group we'll dismount to go by foot. TJ, both teams will cover Bonnie and Sergeant Hart as they make their way inside." Al was sitting the front passenger seat, leaning out as he gave the commands. "I'm assuming there are ventilator shafts above the main entrance?" He asked the Alpha Site personnel, addressing no one in particular.

 Hooves pounded on the loose gravel road. True to her word Josile had managed to gather several dozen of her people to the cause; all of them to a one sworn to protect the Alpha site and its people just as those from Earth had done the same for them time and time again. They were a partnership born in steel and fire, an unshakable one that was rare to find in the galaxy. "They're on their way Kimberly, we are not too late!" She shouted over her shoulder as the distance closed between the Humvees and horses. Josile, like her brethren was now equipped with the Cavaleiros shock lance, a short spear like device some seven feet long that carried a tip delivering a powerful electrical charge, rendering the victim unconscious on contact. She closed her legs tightly on her mare's flanks, bringing her to a stop near the lead vehicle. "Well met. Colonel Reynolds I presume?"

They all piled in. Well, one of the two teams in each Humvee. Wearing nothing but a different type of gear and comfortable shoes, Guy pulled at his shirt. Feeling slightly uncomfortable in the worn, used clothes, his attention was refocused on his bag. Mumbling to no one in particular, he dug through it checking to see if they were missing something, "Let's see. What do we have here? We haven't forgotten anything, right?

However, hearing the sounds of the hooves coming closer, his eyes widened and turned around at an all too familiar scene, "Horses!?! This planet's got horses?!? Whoa. Cool. Eyeing what seemed to be the leader of the Cavelerios, he remembered something out of his briefing of this planet about her.

(https://k.nickpic.host/bvW8gj.jpg)

"Yes, sir," the captain grumbled.

Getting into the Humvee, Taer searched the compartment for the key. Finding it, he grunted shaking his head and placed the object into the ignition. Gripping the steering wheel, he let the hand rest on the key. The grumbling in his voice was nothing more than just some impatience. They  were running out of time. Like they had to get somewhere soon to get this finished. The longer the enemy combatants that stay, the harder is it for them to go.

Turning to face the Colonel, he attempted to answer his question. However, he paused hearing the tell tale of hooves coming closer. The Os Cavelerios came on cue. Nodding at the leader who rode alongside the Humvee, he offered a greeting, "Joslie." The captain sighed. If she was here, then the situation was more dire than he presumed.

Bryan was nearly bouncing in his seat.   He really hated leaving Bonnie, but knew she could take care of herself.  Til then he would do his job and help however he could.   He turned as the horses approached.  Well, maybe these were reinforcements coming.  At least he hoped so.

(https://i.imgfly.me/21Cm6.jpg)

Kim stuck to the saddle like a burr.  Only when the humvees came into view did she let a breath out.   They still had time.  And Josile seemed confident about that.  She rode up next to Josile, patting her mare's soft neck.  "Colonel, " she nodded to Reynolds.

"Josile, yes that's me. We met briefly back on 08, very briefly I guess you could say." Al was on his way out, he saw the Cavaleiros woman at Colonel Sharp's office door as he left. "I can guess only that Sergeant Paine has given you the low down. Someone has taken over the base to put it bluntly and we mean to take it back." He eyed the reinforcements up and down, he knew them by reputation, that gave him a confident feeling in the back of his mind.

"TJ, Captain Taer, move us out." There was no need for any other formalities, they were now on the clock.

 Loaded up with more weaponry than she had ever imagined carrying that wasn't attached to either a 302 or 401, and with the rest of her companions she was lucky to squeeze into the back seat with Teya and Guy. With Donovan up front with TJ, they made quite a showing alongside SG-9s Humvee. "I guess its too late to write my will now isn't it?" She said half jokingly.

 (https://cdnw.nickpic.host/rzvuZ2.jpg)

 "Way too late Bobbie and besides I thought you were leavin everything to me anyway." The old man chuckled as he shifted through the gears to bring the vehicle to a stop when the Cavaleiros showed up. He kept quiet then until Reynolds gave the order to move, he followed on keeping a good two meters behind the other Humvee.

 (https://k.nickpic.host/B2fmlj.jpg)

 Bonnie took these last few moments to be as close to Bryan as she could manage. As close as a full kit would allow. "Don't you go worrying about me Bry. You know I can handle this. In fact I'm more worried about you and the rest of the team making the front door assault. I don't think I need to say you'll need some uncanny luck." She squeezed his had for added comfort. Bonnie was worried really for all of them.

 "I do believe I remember Colonel." She told him leaning from her saddle before straightening up again. "The base will be yours again by nightfall, this I swear."

 Turning in her saddle, she called loudly to her people. "Cavaleiros! We ride to help our friends and we ride hard. Colonel..." She turned again before he was out of earshot. "...we'll go across country, it will be far quicker for us. Kimberly Paine..." Her voice was softer this time. "Ride with me girl and stay close....heyah!" She urged her mount on forward, then lead the troop down off the road into the ravine that separated the airfield area from the main road leading to the base itself.

Teya actually relaxed a fraction when Josile showed up.  They might have a chance yet.  At least she prayed so.  They had people on the inside that she was worried about.  She raised a brow as she nudged Bobbie's shoulder.  "Yep, think we all forgot to make a will," she teased her young friend.

(https://i.imgfly.me/2116A.jpg)

Bryan tried to put himself in a happier place.  Back at home with Bonnie would work.  Sure, he was used to missions that they didn't know the outcome of.  This felt a lot different though.  This could go south quickly if they weren't all on their toes.  He glanced over returning Bonnie's squeeze.  "I'm trying to keep calm, but this has me jittery," he admitted.  "You stay safe too."

(https://i.imgfly.me/21Cm6.jpg)

Kim was fidgeting in her saddle.  This could turn bad fast.  She scratched her mount's first neck, trying to keep herself calm and ready to face anything.  She nodded, a smile touching her lips as Josile asked her to ride with them.  "It would be my pleasure." She squeezed the horse's sides, leaning forward in the saddle.

With the noise of the Humvee's engines Al doubted their enemy wouldn't hear them coming. Christ the fleeing birds and animals told him as much as they sped down the nicely sealed road towards the main gate. With TJ's team in the vehicle behind them, he tapped his radio just once. "TJ, old man. Once we group with the Major and his party, we will see Bonnie and Hart inside by whatever means, give them five minutes and then we'll breach the main door. Unless things change dramatically. Copy?"

 Settling in for the short ride to the Main Gate with TJ at the wheel, Bobbie had a chance to reflect on what she had said to Teya a moment earlier. Now she was getting serious, because when it came down to it, she and probably all of them had neglected that one very important aspect of their life; something that might adversely affect their families should the worst ever happen. "TJ mate, if I had anything of value, you'd be on the top of my list." Well she still had some humor in it, but then turning to Teya she said. "Seriously, what happens if we don't make it? The state decides on who gets what and so on. I guess at our ages we don't really think about such morbid things as wills, but we should in our line of work shouldn't we?"

 (https://cdnw.nickpic.host/rzvuZ2.jpg)

 "Yeah well..." The old man grumbled, like what would a young woman like Bobbie leave a guy his age? Her collection of Motley Crew CD's? "Copy Colonel and a damned good plan.

 "Denholm is a steady man sir, although given to some rash decisions. We should be good to smash these goons. Two minutes Colonel." He added when they topped a large rise in the landscape that then led downhill to the gate. From this position Meyer expected to see the Major's group in full view. He couldn't. "We may have a problem in that area sir."

 "Lieutenant." He nodded to Donovan. "We might not be the biggest assault team Stargate Command has ever put up, but we'll damn well be the best. When we split, you'll need to lead from your gut instincts not your head or your heart. Whatever you do, make sure you do it with speed and precision." Wise words from an old veteran.

 (https://k.nickpic.host/B2fmlj.jpg)

 One last hug as Bonnie saw they were approaching their destination. They'd dismount then jog the remaining 500 meters to the main entry of the Alpha site. A forced entry she knew was the only way in, that sure was going to be expensive to fix given the size of those big doors. "Keep your head down Bry and don't do anything rash. Hart and I have the safe job, its you and the rest I am going to be worried about. We can only hope this gets done quickly and cleanly with minimum loss of life." She tapped Guy on the shoulder. "You ready?"
