By the way I think the north near winconsin/ Dakota Minnesota area or the south New Orleans would work better as the whole new location thing. It just means we’re not bound by past games as much. In the north we could do something with Canadian territory too maybe.

As far as Canon for the story goes. We will be following. From what I understand at least. To be the story line Bathesda runs with. (Again I could be wrong this is from watching youtube videos. No official source. But I believe it is that the Lone Wanderer, Courior and the Lone Survivor were good people and that the Enclave, Ceasers Legion and the Institute are all defeated. Feel free to contradict me on that. Like I said its from a youtube Video.

As for where to set it. I think San Fransisco could be fun. Maybe have the BoS hold alcatraz. But thats in Calafornia right? I think it may be best to avoid California given its involvement with the NCR.

Also there is no need for everybody to be Vault Dwellers. But it makes for an easier starting point. Though. Like I said its not needed.

Back to locations. I was thinking. Where is the TV show defiance set? The place with the big arch? Is that Seattle?

Again its a big world and its all up for discussion at the moment. I would rather spend a week doing it now than 4 days doing it mid game

Update

So Just looked it up Defiance is set in St Louise which is in Missouri. Again I dont know America very well so its just ideas. But yeah Missouri seams pretty central, and because we arnt a video game we dont need artificial barriers like sea's and mountains to keep us in one place.

And I have been thinking about it, I am thinking maybe set our RP a few years before Fallout 4, say 2285.

But if everybody is happy I with the Vault I can go in to more detail about my ideas for the actual Vaults and Plots, leaving out locations and dates more or less.

I agree with this for the most part but I don’t think the Enclave is entirely gone, I think that there are mentions of them still existing in fallout 4 as a shadow of their former selves. Everything else is fine though, but yeh all vault dwellers would be easier, plus we can have our characters kinda start knowing each other and having lived together I guess? As I said the north or south may be more interesting as newer locations far separated. It could be easier for you bowsy to look into that.

I never said gone I said defeated.
You have Remnants of the Enclave in Fallout New Vegas. Admittedly they were more just soldiers and less actual backers of the Enclave's goals, but still.
Ceasers Legion isn't actually wiped out in the end of New Vegas either.

And having it in 2285 should leave room for the Institute to still be an option of we ever want to bring that in. I mean there were Synths in the Capital Wasteland during Fallout 3 in 2277 so why not in the middle of America 8 years later? Also if we set it then its feasible that only 4 years after their defeat during the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam fragments of Ceasers Legion have made it their as well, and if the Legion is there, there is room to bring in 'advanced elements' of the NCR, such as Ranger Scouting Parties sent out to hunt down what remains of the Legion.

Of course we will have Raiders, Brotherhood Of Steel, Super Mutants and all sorts.

People will be able to be from these factions, after a while. The way I would view it is that, we start off with a group of Vault Dwellers, chosen by a lottery run by the overseer of Vault 96 (So that people dont get limited to a skill set that would logically be put in to some kind of exploration team.) To venture to Vault 29, the closest Vault to them to find some magical item that will save their vault. And along the way we fight mutant creatures, meet Raiders. uncover some secrets, and once that is done we have the opportunity to venture out in to the big bad wasteland and expand more and more.
(Also if people want to play somebody from the Pre War world and not be a ghoul there will be a chance for that. As again Vault's 96's purpose is to keep the Genetic material diverse over time, but as a contingency a little like Vault 111, they have a few people put on ice. However that will be a secret to most of the player characters. Again its to give room to expand later on.

Missiouri and St Louis would be open enough for new but with some familiar nearby, like the Midwest and Texas BoS chapters, perhaps if set after FNV, the Legion is moving Eastward. I think a couple local players in the mix would be good, and then something in the area worth fighting over. Maybe its access to the river, maybe the Boeing plant somehow has a secret bunker with all manner of Pre War weapons. Something like that.

In the Bay Area, I think FO2 has already placed a lot of players there. BoS, NCR, Shii, Hubologists and so on, so thatd account for alot.

The main thing to me is that we have a world outside of the Vault worth going out into and maybe enough going on around to have more than one story to run.

Oh of course, again the Venture to one Vault to another is by no means meant to be the whole plot, its just to get the ball rolling. Give a chance for people that want to play characters outside the Vault to introduce themselves to the group but more importantly to join them on a quest. Again there is a plan but I dont want to spoil a big plot point for anybody unless I have to. I chose St Louis because I was thinking of basing the big local setlement in its shadow as it were. it was just going to be called 'The Arch' . And a bit like Boston has Diamond City, This would be a similar thing.

I would love to have more than one Story Running but the idea is to start off with one and go from there.

Nevermind, St Louis is in Fallout Tactics to a major degree...

Any other suggestions for a good central location?

Seattle and Washington State still sound good. There were plans but nothing solid and I can use Old World Blues HoI4 to give us some other factions as Ive mentioned earlier. Maybe include western Montana, the Vancouver area of BC, and norther Oregon.

Plot sounds good bowsy but I’m still thinking that’s too close to fallout 3 isn’t it? I really don’t entirely know..

I will have to default to people that knows that area much better than I do. But if its agreed I am fine with it and have no issue. As long as its not had a major involvement with any previous game. I am happy. because that way we should minimise the risk of stepping on any established story lines.

As for the plot. Well I guess it is similar to the plot to Fallout 3, but as I said, its just to get the Vault open and characters outside with a unifying goal.

Ill send you an idea after work.

It's after work.

Okay, so I did some research, and the area around the Northwestern US isn't really touched on. The game that would have was aborted twice. And the first idea was really kind of bad, about the BoS trying to get from Seattle to Alaska to cross the Bering Straight before cruising straight to the Forbidden City of China to stop the Chinese from launching yet another nuke.

But in that, I also read up on the plot from Van Buren, the project that would've become Fallout 3 had Interplay not been kicked out of everything Fallout by Bethesda. And I think the plot there could give us a lot to work with, with some adaptation. Bear with me, I conjured this up while at work.

There's still the "evil" Brotherhood of Steel in the Seattle area, led by a seemingly Immortal Elder who led them from the Midwest out to here, and they've all but abandoned the Codex to instead wage open war on lesser nations, openly conscripting locals and raiders alike, and enslaving people for free labor. To the east is the Isaquah Nation, a tribal nation that extends along eastern Washington to the Idaho border (I forgot about Idaho, as do most Americans, so like Sam Neil in The Hunt For The Red October, I guess we don't get to see Montana...) that the Brotherhood is intent on conquering. In the south of Washington, around the Mt. Hood area, is The Cause, a loose confederacy of mercenaries who banded together to fight the Brotherhood. Along the coast are the Maw People, raiders and cannibalistic tribals along the Washington and Oregon coastline. In Oregon, it's mostly raiders, tribals, but also the supermutant haven known as the Troll Warren, where survivors of The Master's army have banded together to regroup and find their new lot in life (Hint: it's going to involve abducting people for labor, food or a dunk in the FEV swamp to become a supermutant). We could have a free hand in developing what might appear in British Columbia, but bear in mind that Canada spent a fair bit of time under the boot of American oppression even before the war began.

But why are the Brotherhood of Steel, a traditionally isolationist bunch of tech hoarders, brutally trying to carve their own empire in Washington? Some speculate that they lost their minds after the NCR-BoS War, others that this is actually the fabled Enclave, but the truth is perhaps far worse. And where I start borrowing from Van Buren.

In orbit above Earth is an American missile platform, armed with nuclear weapons and equipped with a sophisticated AI. Since the bombs fell, it has been dormant, but the mastermind of the current state of affairs in the American Northwest intends to see it reactivated for his own twisted ends. A scientist who has become obsessed with the Blue Flu virus, the forerunner to the FEV, intends to truly purify the world in a way the Enclave even was not considering; by tricking the AI into believing that the Blue Flu had spread once more, it would be forced to consider the situation as out of control and enact a last ditch protocol, where upon it would rain nuclear hellfire down on all affected sites. The scientist knows this, this is his endgame to restart humanity for real.

And the Vault, with its "genetic diversity" project? Well, it would be a perfect place to create a new human race made in his image. For now, though, he is content to let the Brotherhood slaughter all in their path while hapless slaves dig for an underground bunker, hidden deep under Seattle. His prize also includes a Pre-War US Army base, Fort Teller, in the east of Washington, which is why the Isaquah Nation must die. For now, the Brotherhood are useful idiots, but their time will soon come, just as the rest of the mongrel race of mutants that humanity has become...

I think there’s plenty of room for different stories and I feel our individual choices need to have an affect on our roleplay world. I for one would like to see the Enclave return at some point but by no means do I want to start with that.

I’m really looking forward to this roleplay at this point. But everything so far proposed seems great to me.

This is....

I love Fallout. Only played Fallout III, New Vegas and Fallout IV. Well barely started Fallout IV. Never finished it.

Still, if this is to be an RP, I'd be interested in it if only to do a small part. But yeah, I'll be watching this and will go with whatever you guys decide on a location or a plot. Its....Fallout. It's gonna be awesome. Right?
