<Flight Line to Briefing Room>

Aurore raced over to where the prisoner was, mentally cringing when Josile struck her. She stepped in front of them, causing Brian to stop. The pilot straightened up before speaking.

"In accordance with military and civil laws, I hereby declare you a prisoner of the Tau'ri and Cavaleiros. You are charged with several war crimes and conspiracies to commit war crimes. A legal tribunal will be convened to determine your guilt or innocence at a future date. You will be provided legal representation of an unbiased nature, but you are to be made aware that anything you say or do is admissible as evidence against you." Aurore said and then cleared her throat, "Now that the legalities are out of the way, I am Commandant Aurore Berge, Executive Officer of this facility. You are here for one simple reason; this war is going to end. You can choose to do so peacefully, or you can lead your people to ruin."

With a degree of pomp that Aurore wouldn't normally show, she turned to the security team leader. "Sergeant, take custody of our...guest...and show her to her new accommodations. Everyone else, this way, we have our post-mission debriefing."

Brian handed over the Empress over to the Security staff before falling in to head to the briefing room. After they parted company with the target, Brian set his M4 to safe and swung it over his back, before looking to his teammates.

"Good work out there, SG-7. I've got a good feeling about us as a team going forward. I just hope that we get to do the normal ops of an SG Team instead of fighting wars." Brian said as his teammates followed his example.

"Not the most auspicious of starts, but I agree. We have a strong team." Nikolai added.

With his group watching his backside, Taer observed the Empress. He listened and observed what the others were doing. They had an accomplished mission and stopped the Empress of the Forerunners from doing more bad things. It was a good mission.

Approaching Aurore, he spoke offering his services, "Major. I volunteer to watch over the Empress if you can spare me? I will make sure she will cause no more trouble."

<Iron Maiden to briefing room>

Teya was left dumbfounded by what had just happened.  She was glad they seemed to accomplish their mission without casualties.  She turned to Josile.  "Of course.  Just let me know when you want to go up again," she said, walking beside them.

<Merlin to briefing room>

Kim stretched as she followed Bobbie off the Merlin.  She pulled a face at the mention of paperwork.  "How bout food first? I'm starving. "

Not ever having heard anything quite so formal being used on a prisoner, Josile had to show she was impressed. Her own people while warriors with a hard streak at heart, never really treated their own captives as badly as what their reputation might paint of them. They were housed and fed, given clean clothes and decent food until such times as had happened in the past a prisoner exchange could be arranged. That was the way of things, she understood this from her Earth friends to be so as well.

The situation with the Empress though might well prove different. Whether her people complied with the demands to be made upon them was something to be revealed in the very near future. If they failed to agree, what might happen to the Forerunner Royal was something she couldn't foresee, hopefully the best thing that might happen was to bring the enemy to the Peace table. She watched as the captured Princess was led away still protesting until one of the guards gagged her. "Thank you Commander Renner, I will though await the appropriate time to pass with your commanders briefing, though I should mention it won't be a long trip."

Three small underground buggies pulled up to transfer everyone to the base proper, to walk was a good twenty five minutes, this was far more convenient.

After discovering that there had been a communication gaffe and she wasn't slated for -401 flying, Aurore instead went to check on the arrival of the NATO units. But that went by the wayside as she was asked to check out her F-302 that had been customized for her use.

It was one of the new models, the F-302C single seat variant, but the exterior was quite distinctive. Most F-302s, regardless of nationality, seemed to bear one of two colors selected by the US Air Force. Either they were the lighter "ghost" grey or they were the dark "Strike Eagle" grey. There was rumor that this was bent a bit on the UNS Dreadnought, but largely, few were anything other than light or dark grey. Aurore's was neither.

It was painted in the same sky blue and blue camo livery favored by French Air Force Mirage 2000s (Rafales sadly were only in the same boring air superiority grey). Accordingly, the roundels had also been replaced with French ones, circular with red, white and blue, an inverse of the RAF's. The tail, rather interestingly, bore both the Alpha Site insignia and the insignia of her last squadron posting, EC 2/5.

As she inspected the craft, she climbed up the ladder to see her name and callsign in red cursive under the canopy. That earned a smile. And she now wanted to go get her Aldo from her office and take this fighter up...

She was just about to summon the crew chief, an American Air Force Master Sergeant, when the call came in.

"Alright, I'm on my way. It would appear that my flight in the -401 was postponed anyways." Aurore made her way down the ladder and back for the building. A pity, she thought, it was good flying weather today...

Chaos. That was all there was for it. The craft that had been on the flight line, plus fuel trucks, Humvees and other vehicles that were milling about and in line of site of three of the base's Centurion C-RAM point defense weapons were wrecked. The turrets, shaped like an inappropriate change to R2-D2 from Star Wars, housed some of the most advanced fire control systems paired to a mainstay in American aviation - the 20mm M61 Vulcan cannon, a six barrel rotary cannon that when it fired, sounded like a giant ripping a seemingly endless tarp.

The 20mm shells were enough to wreck all of the aircraft on the flight line, as well as the support vehicles in view, and cause plenty of casualties. Medics were trying to help people while firefighters were rushing to put out the fires.

Looking around, Astrid gasped wordlessly.

"Merde. Chief, any plan can't involve our aircraft, they were not bluffing of how much control they have here." Denis pointed out.

"...not only that, they have almost any angle for watching us." Astrid added quietly. The CWIS guns, which had been the guardians recently installed here, were now like mechanical watchdogs, their electronic eyes watching and their teeth definitely worse than their bite - the Brrrrrt wasn't nearly as bad as the High Explosive Incendiary rounds that it produced.

 The scene that greeted them was nothing but devastation, a grim reminder of what was possible when your own people went rogue. Before her and Denis left the main center of the Alpha Site, Miki checked in with the command bunker. They were okay, yet it took some convincing to get them to even speak to her via the wall intercom outside; they weren't about to open that blast door for love or money and she didn't blame them. She left them with the task of trying to hack into the hack, with one of the civilian technicians telling her and Denis they have been trying ever since the attack with no luck. 'Keep trying' she admonished them.

 As they skirted around the gun turrets, seemingly quiet for the moment. Denis, Miki and now two other bikes had joined them, Astrid and Nikolai. It was easy for them to have caught up, as one other task done was to call the base defense command. Luckily that was outside the main complex like the Airfield and they found once outside the cellphones did actually work. There was a downside though, no help was forthcoming from the Cavalieros for some while yet as they were busy fighting several forest fires. That message rang alarm bells, it was a little early in the season, were they deliberately lit to do just that, draw the locals away? More questions to be answered.

 "No they weren't." She said angrily taking one last look back at the carnage before leading them to a side entry to the main hangar. Two things were obvious, the large front blast doors to the building was closed, you could see hundreds of pock marks in the steel casing, and lines of concrete leading to the door where the CWIS bullets were heading; the door was probably sealed during that attack. There was a coded entry panel on the side, Miki entered her code only to get the reject alarm. A rather heated voice came through the intercom.

 "What the hell is going on and how the **** do I know its you Chief?" He said a few other less savory things, much of which Miki wished she could have said herself.

 "You owe me thirty dollars from a game of dice two years back TJ, Christmas eve to be exact." That was all she could think of, only her and a few airman would have known that.

 More swearing and the interlock made a clunking sound as it released. Miki turned to those with her. "Come inside quickly just in case they are watching." Now she was as nervous as a cat. Who were these people.

 Inside the vast hangar the scene was marginally different; there was damage, taken before the doors were closed. One 302 had a collapsed nose wheel and one of the 401s took quite a few hits across the nose. Both were being worked on, with even pilots lending a hand. "Now, can someone tell me what in the good Lord's name is going on? We have lost all contact with base both by radio and cellphone, they do at least appear to working beyond the base though." He started loudly then wound down with his last words.

 "Astrid, Denis?" Miki was as puzzled as anyone. "By the way where is Commander Renner and her crew?" She asked.

 "Over there, getting down and dirty." He pointed to another 401, one of the main thruster engine pods was on a gantry being lifted back into its place. It seemed like most of the fitters were more than likely outside helping where they could.

Teya growled under her breath as she rapped her knuckles against the 401.  Her knuckles were bruised and bloody, but she wasn't complaining.  She was still alive.  Unlike many of her comrades.

She slid out from under the 401 when she heard a voice she hadn't expected to be here and then TJ's grumbling.   "Chief?" Teya asked, walking over to the group as she wiped her greasy hands on a rag.  Grease was smeared across her cheek as well and her hair was a tangle.

 Hearing the voices, another dirt covered figure slid from beneath the 401 on a mechanic's slide skid; she was dressed in dark blue overalls that fitted her nowhere. A utility cap on backwards, her dark hair pulled back tightly in a pony tail. Bobbie had one hand bandaged. (some things are often far hotter than you expect).

 "Well, I guess you all came down to see what's left? Would you like an inventory?" Her tone wasn't pleasant as you would expect.
