<Wraith Hive Flagship>

Sin followed his queen as she followed Guide.  He couldn't help chuckle at sharing her question, nor could he  stop himself from outright laughing a few seconds earlier. The startled guards only encouraged him.

"To wish Godspeed to something like us," he explained his humor to anyone who was curious.  "We are demons, despite how much these people love their fire and ashes."  No matter the galaxy, humans embraced those. The only difference was the Tau'ri knew how to create more fire instantaneously, and turn bigger things into ashes faster.

It didn't take long to learn explaining a joke the humans didn't find amusing was much safer than keeping it to himself.  Nor had it been difficult to glean the context of a few phrases about praising and praying to God and wanting enemies or joking about burning in hell.

If he had managed to learn more of the Tau'ri beliefs, he would have compared the Vanir to fallen angels in their eyes.

<Dreadnought Hangar Bay>

Cooper followed the rest of AR-3 to the Armoury. He was glad to be going out again,even though it would definately be a rough and dangerous mission.He was still getting used to this newer version of his pack,not using his sniper rifle anymore,but the P-90 was a highly effective weapon. A few moments later,gear in hand,he was moving with his team-mates to the next battle.

<Dreadnought Bridge>

McKay was punching the keys on his laptop and looked up at Ronon
"It is times like this that I appreciate that you are one hell of a fighter, don't let my flattery go to your head tho, I am ready..

He said, turning away from Ronon, and  now addressing Sheppard and showing him the front of his computer.
... this baby here is set up to pull all the info we need from their computers, once we get there, hopefully we will actually live to find it of some use"

 <Dreadnought Hangar Bay>

 As usual Jordan was at her bellowing best. Of course Mako had the floor for the time being, she let Michelle go for a spell before giving her own speech. "Right then AR-3, you've all heard what Lieutenant Hanley has to say. We are going in against nothing more than Xerox copies and while we do have a means to turn their blood lust off so to speak with the handy little weapon Doctor McKay developed, it was deemed impractical when dealing with such large numbers. All I will add is we go in, hit them fast and hit them hard."

<<Rabaul bridge>>

As soon as she beamed on board Juliette headed for the weapons station. She powered it up, and ran diagnostics. She turned to report to the captain. "Shields are up and weapons hot." She was nervous about this whole operation. It was an improvisation with divided command and improvisations made her nervous.

<Dreadnought Hangar Bay>

Cooper had indeed heard the other leaders words about the overall mission and about the individual parts each team would play. All the teams were professional,so he focused his attention on his own team-mates and their portion of the mission.He once again checked his new pack,along with the additional weapon he had requested from the Sergeant.The seconday pack held the 2 25-round belts that held the ammo."Skipper," He held up his freshly oiled weapon for his commander to ok."Thought my 'old friend' could prove useful in this OP,ok?

<Dreadnought, Bridge>

 Working on a short straw, those who weren't directly required for combat operations were sent elsewhere to be on hand once the fighting started. Some officers were to be in the individual gun directors and some were overseeing keeping the rounds up to the railguns. All that was left on the bridge was the Captain, Jason, the Weapons Officer, Navigator and Radar/Sensor suite officer. Lily was carefully studying the charts that were provided by Jack Pierce and AR-2 from their last mission, which left for the moment the Dread's T/O to answer Jason.

 The dark head turned outwards, trying to keep one eye on his screens (4 of them) while managing the systems at his hands. "Nada Master Chief, zero so far. I'm extending my searches out to maximum range and still nothing. Personal opinion if I may?" One eye looked up to Lily.

 "Go ahead Lieutenant, the more heads on this the better." She told him as she herself took a moment to stop what she was doing.

 "Thank you ma'am." He thought for a moment gathering his words. "Well we know these guys don't use cloaking, at least we haven't seen it so far. They tend to roam in packs, from four to a dozen ships that we've seen. My best guess is they are out of range and waiting for some kind of signal to jump us when we launch our attack, they'll probably come at us from hyperspace most likely and I'd say from different angles of attack."

 Lily looked at him, then Jason and Sheppard. "Right and here we are all bunched up like damned sheep being herded to market. As for getting our teams on the ground, the quickest way is by beaming and yes I agree whole heartedly this is a trap but when your back is against the wall you take whatever avenue comes your way." It was a strange sight to see really, everyone to a man and woman were wearing full vests, helmets were nearby as if they expected to have a fight right on the ship. Everyone carried a side arm and there was a rifle stacked for all crew at various parts around the ship including the bridge. "John get yourself and your team down to the hangar, we have a lot of people to shift. Dave I want you to sit this one out for two reasons; on the one hand we need a back up here in case the ground teams need an instant support and secondly, we may or may not need teams here in case we're boarded." Her eyes met with Jason. "Send a message to the other ships Master Chief, spread out, four ships in packs with spacings of at least twenty kilometers apart."

 "We've run out of options now. We either do this with as much force as we can bring to bear or we sit back home and wait for them to come to us. I do not believe that with either path they'll make it easy for us." Teyla's assumption was most likely what was on everyone's mind. She was though worried for Rodney, for while he had proven himself time and time again on the field, never though with odds such as this. "Rodney..." She began, then let it drop. "Never mind."

 Another thing Lily had to take care of, all those details. She pipped her radio. "Commander Pierce, we'll need some top cover, see what plan you can come up with and get back to me. Ideally you'll want at least one 401 with escorts but I will leave that up to you." Then back to Sheppard. "My first instinct is to say by 401, but my gut says beaming is going to be far quicker John. Ultimately its your choice."

<Dreadnought Hangar Bay>

 One of the strangest sights was seeing two hundred Wraith warriors assembled in and around the hangar decks. It was a cause of concern for everyone with too often hands reaching for side arms and if it wasn't for the ship's Coxwains (Naval Police) to keep order things might have gotten out of control. Once the snarls and looks were put aside with a promise on her word from Rhiase that they were here for one thing and one thing only and they were not interested in the ship's 'primitive' technology. The atmosphere did cool down some. There job was to bolster the humans efforts, going wherever needed once they were all down on the surface. With the help of the El'Dari, communications were in place so that everyone throughout the fleet was on the same wave length literally with they supplying the Wraith with little clip on radio sets that consisted of a small ear piece and a mic that was essentially pasted to the throat. "We have an ancient saying, 'Those who lift the blade in anger, shall fall by the blade of vengeance'. I am quite sure your kind have similar quotations through your history. We stand ready to see this at an end and when the last is come to us, our relations between our kind might find a more agreeable road don't you think?" She was speaking in general to Hanley's team, but there were many others there she wanted to hear what she said clearly.

                                        ***********************

<Dreadnought, Pilot Country>

 "They give me the creeps." Alecia said under her breath to Jack and AJ, jerking her thumb over her shoulder towards the gathered Wraith, all loaded to the hilt with the weapons procured from another world, weapons just like their own. "I feel every one of them is looking at me as if I was their next meal." She blinked as another cast a sideways glance at her. "Anyway, we're carrying bunker busters this time on our birds, other than our guns the Tornadoes are not up there for a dog fight, I'll leave that to you guys."

<Wraith Hive Flagship>

As he often did of late, Todd paced back and forth across his bridge. The whole thing smelled off to him, he could feel it and so did his Warriors. He knew Rhiase felt it and as much as he wanted to strangle her every now and then, he trusted her foresight on most things. Stopping for a brief moment to look up at the fleet displayed on the large Wraith monitor behind him, he did feel a sense of some pride to a degree. Better it were as far as he was concerned that this was a Wraith fleet to put an end to this butchery, still as the humans might say beggars can't be choosers. "Sin, I feel we may have bitten of more than we can chew to coin a Sheppard phrase. Just the same it does lighten the heart a degree to know that one way or another we will end this curse upon us don't you think?" That curse being the very presence of the Vanir.

<Dreadnought Stargate>

Located in the center of the ship, taking up a space enough to cater for its size and the event horizon puddle within the central hangar bay; the ship board Stargate and DHD had been linked to a dialing panel taken from an unserviceable Jumper and the subsequent Iris fitted for safety. Two SF's manned the Stargate around the clock in four hour watches. It had been thoroughly tested twice before arriving here so they knew when the Chevrons began lighting up one by one that this was no exercise. The Iris went into place, and IDC from Atlantis was sent followed by the call from the Gate Technician. AR-5 was on the way. Late though better late than never. The first one through was a smallish Asian man, Filipino, there was no mistaking that. "The rest are right behind me." He told the SF's on guard as he shook of that residue feeling of having your molecules reassembled.

Ty was a few stalling steps behind Chris.  He shuddered a bit, not sure he would ever get used to the gates.  And two within a few seconds of each other really left you feeling disoriented.  "Now I know why I stick with flying," he commented, shouldering his pack better as he stepped over to Chris and out of the way.

<Rabual Bridge>

Mesa stood on the bridge.  She had only just been getting used to the Oki and k ow here.  Although she certainly didn't want to sit this mission out.  She glanced over at Tucker, a warm smile on her face before nodding at Juliette.  "Looks like we're headed our again."

<Dreadnought, Pilot Country>

"Not sure I'll ever get used to the different races and places, " Rob commented, stepping up to Alecia.  He glanced over at the Wraith, understanding Alecia's feelings.  Hopefully the Wraith stuck their word and didn't try anything.

<Dreadnought Stargate>

Much like the other two, Mike was only a few steps behind them as he had entered the stargate and reappeared on the other side. The dizzying affects of the SG was something that he would not ever get used to - perhaps not at his age but he would try and find a better way of managing it later. As luck would have it, everything in the jump had gone smoothly - certainly he was still standing with all his limbs attached.

"That was an experience." He commented, shaking off the last effects of the gate before stepping out to one side, checking over his shoulder that he wasn't going to get bodied by another individual coming out from the gate. "Everyone good?"

"Indeed," Sin agreed with his commander.  "Even a victory in death is a victory, and thus one i look forward to."

He was both extremely anxious about the battle and yet, extremely relieved he wasn't being berated for his previous failure that he carried the scar from.  Whatever the victory, even minor in this war, would redeem him of it.

No doubt no matter the victory, even if the war ended here, he doubted the humans anywhere would care much.  The spite and leers from the soldiers he and the others faced didn't diminish his fascination in them, however.  He always wondered if his commander shared such fascination or if a true alliance was merely a tool needed or if there was more to it.

<Dreadnought Stargate>

 When the heat is on they say things happen quickly. One moment Lou was enjoying a decent meal in the cafe back at Atlantis, she had already said her goodbyes to those leaving earlier in the day. Then about ten minutes before their departure Colonel Sheppard called her up to tell her two things; one she'd been promoted and two, 'Lou you're on AR-5. Yes I know we lost that team but you see we need people and people like you. The SGC is sending in some newbs, you'll have around 5 minutes to familiarize with them, then I want you to tell your new CO to report to me aboard the Dread the moment you guys arrive'

 That was probably the most he had ever said to her even if it was over the radio. Lou never hesitated, she was packed within ten minutes and it was soon after that the three new people arrived from the SGC. She was more than surprised to learn the CO was a Warrant Officer, but from the introduction and his mere appearance she knew he was way more up for the job. Then there was the other Corporal, she thought she had met him once briefly back at the SGC when she had to return home very briefly earlier this year for a funeral, she was gone from Atlantis no more than a week and on her return she recalled seeing him leaving with his team, he said hello and that was it. Lastly the Sergeant, a nice down to Earth bloke if first meetings could be taken for granted. So far in less than 30 minutes she was impressed. Then she was gating through to the Dread.

 "Mister Baker, all in one piece sir. I'm not sure where Colonel Sheppard might be but there is a bunch of people down there lookin for war." She pointed down in the distance to the far end of the hangar bay to where Mako, AR-3 and she was stunned to see a lot of Wraith there as well.

<Rabaul Bridge>

 For quite a long while Ted stood at the huge armored windows of the bridge, he hadn't moved since they arrived, just standing there staring at the Vanir planet in the far distance. Then he suddenly spun around to his crew, his new crew. "We're being drawn in like fish to a basket of bread thrown over the side." His deep Canadian/Irish voice rumbled. "Very well then, I can only guess what they're thinking, so we can play the same game. Major McCaffry, once we're engaged we are going to fly this ship as if it were a FA18 fighter, I don't want us to be in one place for more than seconds understood? Lieutenant Stryker that will be your job and you are going to be sweating; if you don't think you're up to it, let me know now."

 He walked back to the control stations, passed his sheepskin lined chair. "Lieutenant Junot, speak to your gunnery officers, make sure each and every gun station and missile tube can be reloaded two seconds after the first salvos have been fired. They want a taste of us, by damned they are going to get it."

 His new Chief of the Boat, Tucker was nowhere to be seen. As of now he was doing the rounds of the ship with the Ship's engineer making sure everything was either lashed down or sealed away. Loose items can be missiles in themselves once the firing began.

<Dreadnought, Hangar>

"Alright, I want suppressors on, don't shoot what you can't kill and can't keep out of sight. No sense in playing fair, even if they have sensors or whatever else, we'll make it no easier." Michelle said, before turning her attention to the others near her.

"Look, let's not get thinking too much about the future. You think too much about what could happen, and you'll wind up missing what just did and what's just about to happen. You've pulled your weight, yeah. And my guys only throw lead at the bad guys, so you won't catch a stray bullet from us. But how we met? You're still kind of on my list." Michelle told the Wraith commander, "But. You are working that debt off, so you're not on the worst part of it."

She left Jordan to her team, Michelle stuck with hers. Suppressors were affixed to the muzzles of their weapons, mainly HK416s, but Voodoo and Wolf were carrying Mk. 46s and so their backups were the suppressed options, compact MP7A1s. Michelle's backup was a McMillan CS5 rifle, a compact bolt-action that was intended to be used as a suppressed rifle. Mako had a couple that were special orders when the unit was formed, and this sounded like a good time to bring it. Ice had an 870 in its smallest form in case they needed the extra punch, Midas was carrying extra medical gear to replace any secondary weapon, and Deuce was carrying an M32 MGL over his shoulder, in case they really needed some extra firepower.

<Dreadnought, Bridge>

"Yeah. Teyla, Rodney, Ronon, let's get going." Sheppard said, turning and heading for the door. He tapped his earpiece.

"Ground teams, this is Sheppard. If you're not in the Hangar waiting for beam-down, get there right now. We're going planetside and we don't have time for goofing around." Sheppard said over comms.

Ronon followed Sheppard out without another word, he was clearly ready to get down there and get his hands dirty.

"Comms, pass the word along to the fleet to spread out. But we do not give them an opening to hit the ground teams too. Kind of have that working against us, folks." Jason said, "Colonel Dixon, I know you're a ground pounder sir, but you're getting your sea legs today. Might need your help if things go sideways, and that's on top of what the Colonel said." Jason added, still not yet calling Lily "skipper". She'd yet to earn that from him, but at least he wasn't being a total hardcase on her, given that the ship had made it back from one engagement intact so far. But this would prove or break any faith he had in her.

"Fair enough. I did some familiarization training on the Prometheus back in the day." Dave commented, "I told Bosworth to keep some men back, to reinforce your SFs that don't go down with the Marines. But your Marine commander wanted to lead his troops and I'm not inclined to go throwing rank around." Dave added.

"Yeah, I think it's more that he knows you're a zoomie but doesn't know you've got about as much experience as General O'Neill does." Jason replied with a shrug. Dave shrugged as well in response.

<Dreadnought, Pilot's Country>

"Alright, we are live people. Squadron commanders, report to your ships, get ready for launch. First launch out are Liberty and Hobo with the strike package to soften up the target site. After that, everyone else goes in order. Flight Ops will direct you onto your targets. Don't shoot the Wraith, they're on our team this time. Let's go." Jack said, picking up his helmet. AJ grabbed hers and was right out the door with him.

Jack's Wildcat had been fully repaired and was waiting in its full splendor of US Navy air superiority light grey, orange and black trim, and high visibility insignia. AJ's was parked next to his on the launch line, similar markings but all in low visibility ghost grey. And the "NAVY" markings were all replaced with "MARINES", naturally.

The two aviators shared a brief embrace before scooting up the ladders of their respective craft, giving salutes to the Master Sergeants waiting at the base of them. The pre-flight checks were quickly handled. Deck crew were all clearing the way for the launch of the strike package, all of them wearing color coded gear over their one piece jumpsuits. Regardless of branch or nationality, the deck hands were now using the US Navy's identification method for such personnel, it was just something that made sense since they had carrier operations experience the Air Force lacked and thought it needed no training on. That had been a mistake.

"Dreadnought Control, this is Hobo 1-1. First strike package lining up for launch now, port side. Standing by for Liberty 1-1." Jack reported over the radio.

"Control, Fast Eagle 1-1, lining up for launch on starboard. BarCAP ready to take up stations." Another one of the squadron leaders called out.
