Season 12 Conclusion

The war that should have ended all wars in the galaxy came to a timely end towards the third week of August. So much had been done from so many quarters with the largest alliance and fleet ever assembled in any races imagination, setting off for Andromeda once the location of the  Destroyers home world had been discovered.

This was no easy feat to achieve by any stretch, having races come together with the purpose of working as a cohesive unit when they would normally be more than willing to kill each other in the blink of an eyes, made for a stark contrast to a time only a year ago when unwillingly some of those same elements were drawn together to battle the Hozgura. Yet drawn together they were, with Goa’uld from many corners of the galaxy, the El’Dari, Kelts, Free Jaffa and of course the humans of Earth fighting as a coalition to destroy the biggest threat life had ever witnessed.
It began initially as things often do, in a random manner. A distress call from a Goa’uld ship to the Zulu station of Earth out in the far corners of the galaxy. This then escalated to the station and its crew fighting for survival against a virus, then when help arrived in the form of SG4 with the assistance of the then Lieutenant Colonel John Sheppard and Doctor Rodney McKay, both of whom we just returning from  a spell of leave on Earth when the incident took place with both men volunteering naturally to assist in whatever way they could.

Their mission was simple in that they merely needed to eliminate a scourge that had arisen of creatures that could be named nothing other than with the term 'zombie.' Not the traditionally mindless, flesh-eating, brain-craving types. No, something a bit scarier; intelligent, telepathic and coordinated types. But the scariest part is that they were human beings - the crew of the Zulu Station - that had been overtaken by Nanites. That's right, Replicators. Though thankfully, they seemed to be an older version and not as intelligent as those they'd encountered in the past. But, intelligent, nonetheless.

Naturally, it was far more complicated than it was supposed to be. It seems that no SG team can encounter a simple mission. The primary issue had been the fact that the infected had been colleagues and, in most cases, friends of those who were fighting them.

Between Doctor Rodney McKay and the teams sent earlier, they had managed to account for most of the so-called zombies. But as things always go in the Universe, the job is never done until the paperwork is submitted. In this case, not all the infected had been accounted for and the team with John Sheppard and Elena Ovcharenko in joint command went back under the orders of the Dreadnought’s captain, Elle McFearson.  On arrival, it was found by the team’s science officer, Squadron Leader Catherine Hughes, that the last remaining infected were gathered in the lower port side cargo bay. It was at this junction that they realised that the creatures were far more intelligent than they had anticipated since it seemed that they were prepared for their attack, and made a coordinated defense against the team.

It can’t be said that it was a breeze, nor a “piece of cake”; yet within five minutes of intense fire, all the remaining infected had been accounted for.  To effect that outcome, the team was forced into a defensive wall, each covering the other with the five of them having their backs to one another, each one swapping out ammunition as they fired. It wasn't easy, but they prevailed in the end, the worst injury any of them succumbing to was the odd bullet graze here and there. In the end, the brave souls of Lieutenant Commanders Aria Israel, Andriana Croumer, Lieutenant Colonels John Sheppard and Elena Ovcharenko and Squadron Leader Catherine Hughes, returned to the Dreadnought triumphant.

One hour after their return, the great ship from Earth, departed and left for the Alpha Site with her new escort ship the UNS Guadalcanal in company. Behind them, a clean up command crew was embarked on the station until such time the SGC were able to replace the lost personnel and a full inquiry held.

That wasn’t the end of the problem, soon after reports were coming in from allies and enemies alike of sightings of strange black ships in fleets of twelve in various parts on the galaxy. Tagrea was hit first, after an intercept by the Free Jaffa and the newly crowned young Queen Allienna who had only a few days before taken the throne of her mother Morrigan. From that point it only worsened, with the alliance quickly being formed under the guidance of the El’Dari.

The forces raced to stop the invasion at Tagrea, meanwhile the young Queen had her own battles to fight at another location altogether when a strange obelisk was sited appearing out of nowhere. At  Langara, the home world of Jonas Quinn, the Destroyers as they were now known as began an assault of a different kind, as one virus infected soldier from Zulu station had earlier panicked, gating out randomly then in turn infecting members of the Langara guard. The warning there was received when Jonas and a young girl managed to be rescued by the Tok’ra, leaving them safely at the Alpha Site. That problem was dealt with when Sam Carter was brought in to assemble a science team to find a way to defeat the Destroyers on the virus level, the thinking being that would be just as effective as all out war. The team there was a large one, guided by Sam it consisted of the Goa’ulds Hades, Morior and the young Goa’uld attendant of the Queen Ea, Erish. Representing Earth was Petty Officer Adele Horackova and Senior Airman Iora Bjork, both from the medical team aboard the Dreadnought. Assisting a liaison was Lieutenant Rachelle McAdams from the Alpha Site.

In slightly less than 24 hours the science team had an effective weaponised anti-virus for delivery to Langara, this was taken aboard the Odyssey with Lieutenant McAdams and Hades in attendance. Soon after arrival the weapon was delivered and although they had to wait twelve hours to see the results, in the end the wait was more than worth it, the plague on that world being neutralized. Hades and the others then returned to their own worlds soon thereafter.

Back on Tagrea the war raged with devastating consequences. Many on all sides of the alliance perished yet in the end after a two days hellish fighting the enemy was finally defeated when an El’Dari woman sacrificed herself by becoming a weapon incarnate, destroying the linked twelve ships of the Destroyers. A day after, it was discovered where the origin of the Destroyers lay when Sunniva of the El’Dari revealed not only that source, but the origins of life itself and indeed the beginnings of all the races including the Goa’uld. It was revelation no one had suspected.
SG4 during this time had not been back long from Zulu station, the Dreadnought having gone to the Alpha site in preparation for its journey to Pegasus. John and Rodney gated through ahead of the ship, arriving about a day earlier. At the SGC, another clue to the destroyers was found in an ancient sarcophagus, the writings translated by Doctor Lee. Sam who had returned just hours before delved a little deeper into the translation, finding the actual meaning ‘Beware of the Destroyers’ being far more sinister than first thought. A pendant was attached to the mummified corpse which in effect was a miniature dial home device. SG4 was ordered by Admiral Davidson to investigate which they did so promptly using one of the special new scout vehicles provided to all SG teams.

Arriving in Pegasus, they found it was something of a puzzle, an old Ancient facility with tidbits of information that led to them gating out again only to land beneath the very base the Alliance forces were attacking from above. The battle raged for a full day and night when finally the Monolith there was breached from above. In the end it came down to something rather bizarre to defeat the enemy, with twelve warriors, two from each race holding a specially made blade that had been buried eons ago for this very purpose. Yet once again, despite all the tragic losses, one was sacrificed again and again it was Catherine MacGregor, a tool she felt of the El’Dari.

With the war brought to a timely end, all the forces returned home, with a promise for a permanent Embassy to be established where all could meet on neutral ground.  Lord Khnum of the Goa’uld had rescued Catherine, placing her in a sarcophagus for her to be returned home, alive and apparently a little younger and fairer than when she left. Many of her memories from her earlier life to began to return.

At the end of hostilities, a summit meeting was prematurely called by the Goa’uld, held in a specially built albeit unfinished station  put together by Allienna. It wasn’t of course the most peaceful event as expected of that race. In the end the meeting was cancelled when a horrific meteor storm passed through that sector with the stations shields only being half effective. It was to be reconvened in one month’s time after repairs made, the station finished and the shields in place as they should have been.

SG1 continued

Back on Earth, the arrival of a delegation from the Kelts resulted in a large scale meeting to be held in Washington DC. Presided over by the US President and Ambassadors from all the signees of the Stargate Program, the long and detailed meeting that began in the Pentagon and concluded at the President’s Camp David facility, ended well with an alliance treaty being signed between the two worlds and a special base being offered to the Kelt mission here on Earth located beneath what is known as Tambourine Mountain in Southern Queensland Australia, the home of the Australian Army Jungle Warfare Training center. Another agreement was signed for the establishment of a construction base located on the near side of our moon, whereby the Kelt people would assist Earth with further implementation of their ship building program. Another paper was signed that indicated in the very near future a full public reveal of the Stargate Program would take place within a year.

At the SGC, staff was rearranged; Admiral Davidson was taking over command of Fleet Headquarters and Air Commodore Linda Fraser RAF taking up command of the SGC.  Michelle Bixby had been promoted to full Colonel, replacing Colonel Paul Davis as Co of the Alpha Site; the Victory was fully commissioned on the 29th of August 2011 with Commodore Jack Campbell RAN as Second Fleet Commander, Captain Janet Crawford as CO, and Commander Alan Summersby as CAG. All three officers were from the Royal Australian Navy, their placement approved by both Brigadier General Steven Caldwell and Lieutenant General Jack O’Neill, both men agreeing it was better to have all the Aussies in one place as much as possible.

During all of this, the Alpha site was not without their problems either. No sooner had the Dreadnought arrived, a briefing with the then Commander General Lucille Chalmers, a storm hit the west coast badly. At that time, an attack was launched by the warring northern tribes of the race known as the Borgkestem’kyu, locally known simply as the Borg. In this attack one of the members of the ship Saggitta assisting in the defence, Science officer Flynn Hart was taken. Although the attack was repulsed with the Borg returning north and their principle village leveled by the Cavaleiros, Flynn was taken by the leader and some eight thousand of his warriors in a ship she was forced to re-activate, a ship of the Hozgura that had been forced to land during that war. It wasn’t that badly damaged, but of course the Borg left no survivors at the time. Now that race was wandering the Galaxy awaiting its turn to wreak havoc somewhere.  Eventually Flynn was returned, though she was both emotionally and physically damaged, with her left femur being shattered at the hands of the brutal Borg.
Not long after this, the Dreadnought arrived, and not very long after she made her presence felt, Lucille Chalmers was rotated back to Earth with Colonel Paul Davis placed in command. Only hours after his arrival, the Cavaleiros were alerted to yet another attack in the south when two of the crew from Zulu station, were kidnapped from the center of Foreston. The survivors of the station had been brought to the Alpha site for a little leave before them being sent back to Earth for possible leave and of course an inquiry to the events on the station. Those two, Lieutenant Robyn Hatfield and Sergeant Kimberly Paine were soon rescued when SG4 was routed through the Alpha site expressly for that mission, being one of their specialties.

It was soon discovered though that this was only a prelude to a major attack on the Cavaleiros southern outposts. That kidnapping was taken by the Lucian Alliance who felt they could deal with the Borg, much to their error. With the Borg Chieftain Worthag turning on the Alliance, they were quickly wiped up with him setting up for his own invasion north. Attack the city of Altan with forces of both the Cavaleiros, El’Dari and Kelts who resided on the Wold alongside the native humans, the defence of the city took place during a single rain swept evening. Faced with far superior numbers, it was decided to sacrifice the city by flooding the valley that fronted the city, engulfing Worthag’s forces into the bargain. The Cavaleiros then moved north to Merrenden where a medical emergency was in place with the survivors. Medical teams were brought in from the SGC to assist, led by Doctor Carrie Svensson and assisted by PA Jim Lucas, Doctor Andy Fleming, Intern Sub Lieutenant Emily Harris and Major Elke Haegel RN, of the German Army contingent that was instrumental in setting to the MASH unit at Merrenden.

There were many casualties brought in, many lives saved and all the while this was taking place the Borg moved north with their movements being monitored by forces of Earth commanded in field by General Margit Guderian of the German forces now based at the Alpha site.

Somewhere along the way, as providence held sway, while Worthag moved north, his own city was being approached by forces from a race not seen on the shores of Incasta (the principle continent inhabited by the Cavaleiros) for over five hundred years. While the Earth assets were monitoring the movement of Worthag, over five hundred iron steam powered ships of sail, huge warships were spotted moving east from across the seas. Their target was estimated by their general navigation, one of the Cavaleiros themselves gracefully rode out to the Borg Chief as he came close to Merrenden to politely inform him he was about to be attacked. This led to Worthag retreating south to defend his homeland, only to be defeated barely hours after his return. With humble pride, he sought sanctuary with the very people he had attacked only two days before, now he to was a refugee in his own land.

After almost a month of guerilla warfare and defensive tactics by the combined elements from Earth and the locals, a line was drawn twenty kilometers south of the Merrenden River, here a savage stalemate ensured. The MASH unit at Merrenden had been moved back on the lines another fifteen kilometers north, but their work was never ending. The Kelts have sent an advanced guard to assist in the defense of Incasta. Meanwhile Josile and Captain Taer had returned from an important mission to an allied planet to secure ship assets. These were brought in by the Hermes in a unique operation that involved beaming three seven thousand ton six gun destroyers. These ship are currently being upgraded by assets from Earth with full training being provided by them. In return, Earth gifted to the Cavaleiros allies, fifty six slightly used but air worthy F/A 18s and twenty F14 Tomcats. Training is being provided there as well.

The one sticking point that is causing contention between the Cavaleiros and Earth is their insistence that the defense treaty they have in place be adhered to the letter. That being unless the Alpha Site itself (the Town of Foreston) is directly threatened, no aerial assets may be used as a weapon.

Stargate Atlantis Season Six conclusion 2015-17

Previously on Stargate Atlantis
Friday, August 19th 2011

The week ended quietly on Atlantis as it did often in the last few weeks since Rodney and John had taken leave back to Earth. Teyla was taking the time to spend with her people and of course young three year old Torin on the new home they had created for themselves upon the mainland not far from where Atlantis had settled in an expansive bay of its new planet.
Naturally though as fate so often dictated things were about to change dramatically in a very short space of time. Early in the afternoon a call came through to Atlantis from a race known as the El’Dari, one who the humans of Earth had only recently met during the wars with the Hozgura in the Milky Way. The first order of business was to set up diplomatic relations between the two here in the Pegasus galaxy, thus Major Evan Lorne and his team were sent to begin the initial negotiations. While there around an hour or so before the team arrived, another unexpected event took place in the guise of a young woman calling herself Tama, seeking sanctuary from her ‘creators’. As her story unfolded it became apparent she was no ordinary young woman, her appearance making one to believe she was around eighteen to perhaps her early twenties, yet as she told her tale as related she was in fact only four years old, having been created by her people for a specific purpose, one which she had no intention in carrying out.

With the negotiations ongoing and it must be said quite successful on Lorne’s behalf, a request was made by the El’Dari to take young Tama back to Atlantis with them. This was agreed upon in consultation with Richard Woolsey and thus the team returned with the girl. Once back in the Ancient City, Tama was soon placed into the care of Jennifer Keller and her team, with even more revelations coming forth. It was soon revealed that Tama’s creator race had been doing a little stealthy stealing at some point, having somehow at some point managed to gain a sample of Doctor Radek Zelenka’s DNA, thus providing the ‘father’ quotient for the girl’s creation.

Earlier that same day, after returning from a botched mission to a planet that had the ungodly habit of flooding at the most inopportune time, the bases young Veterinarian scientist Doctor Melinda Olofsson and her teammate Doctor Guilia Montale, the base’s resident Engineer, were informed by Woolsey that two of Mel’s critters had absconded from their cages. They were named Melman and Gloria, two capybara like creatures that in reality were strangely related to earthly dogs rather than large rodents; this was verified with Melinda’s research into their dental and skeletal structures.
With Guilia, Ronon Dex, along with a city visitor, Mel led the search throughout the city, after several hours and many ‘sightings’ by base personnel, the two critters were eventually located in a section of Atlantis that was off the grid so to speak. Several floors below the sea level section a new passage way was discovered that had not been noted previously. In there a lab apparently at some time being owned by the Lantean Janus, was discovered and beyond that a lower level where Melman and Gloria were found. Yet all was not that easy, the moment they breached that lower level a security protocol was automatically enacted, trapping the four of them down in that section. While there they discovered fish bones, fresh, which led them to the conclusion that the little trouble makers had found a way out, this was to come in rather handy in the next few moments when water started filling the space they had found themselves entombed in. With the water rising rapidly, no radio contact a plan was hatched for Melinda and Guilia to swim out, with Ronon as tough and strong as he was, he admitted he was no swimmer.

Surfacing with just moments to spare with their breath on empty, the girls were picked up by John Sheppard riding shotgun in a AC401 that had only moments earlier arrived with the Dreadnought. Wet, tired and cold they were sent to med bay to recover, while a rescue was sent down below to free Ronon and his guest. A hole had to be cut in a sealed door to bring this about, though in the end it all worked out well.

With the Dreadnought’s deployment to Pegasus came new changes, John Sheppard was promoted to full Colonel at a small reception, he was presented his accreditation by Captain Elle McFearson; Rodney McKay had been awarded a service ribbon to, in the form of the Commonwealth DSM. Though not official, the medal itself belonged to Cate MacGregor with her recognizing Rodney’s assistance, life saving assistance with the mission back at Zulu station. While this small event took place, Teyla Emmagan had requested the service of a AC401 piloted by Major Alecia Satterfield; this request was granted when Teyla had previously informed Richard Woolsey that information had come to her concerning some of her people who had been captured by the Wraith some months earlier. With Ronon as backup they quickly reached the location in question, a habited moon located near a large blue planet, with their well rehearsed procedural skills the pair located the captives in the dead of night, returning just as quickly to give their report.

Earlier just prior to the Dreadnought entry into Atlantis space, an emergency SOS signal had reached the ship, a team headed by the ships XO and Commander Jordan O’Neil, was sent to investigate; there they found a wrecked alien ship, within they found a human who identified herself as Dylan Sun of the Travelers, she had been attacked by the Wraith, the very same ship the 401 had destroyed on entry into the planets system. The now refugee Sun, was repatriated back to Atlantis where her fate awaits the word of the base commander.

Once Colonel Sheppard had been informed, Woolsey gave the seal of approval with Captain McFearson giving her consent for the Dreadnought to be used for the rescue of the refugees. AR-1 was fully implemented as a team after an almost six month hiatus, added to them was AR-2 of Major Evan Lorne with Commander Ariel Israel, the ship’s CMO Captain/Doctor Mike Jaworski and Major Alecia Satterfield again providing in site transport. The teams arrived in the early darkness some few hours before dawn, quickly the Athosians were located with some injured. Over one hundred women, children and men were rescued but at the last moment when the teams were due to leave, a Wraith cruiser arrived with several Darts deployed. The teams scattered but not before Mike was taken and though several Darts were brought down, the one carrying him made good its escape back to its mother ship; which promptly left.

On the other side of Pegasus, a strange arrival took place in the form of a Goa’uld ship, somehow sent to the galaxy by a wormhole distortion in Andromeda during the war with the Destroyers. The commander of this ship was Lord Nesmeti; he was met there by the Wraith Commander Guide, known as Todd. After some discussion, it was agreed the Wraith would repair the ships’ hyper drive with the guarantee the Goa’uld would leave thereafter. This has yet to be resolved as it appears Nesmeti is still in the galaxy.
When this occurred in the first instance, Guide’s troublesome protégé’ a half breed known as Rhiase was with him for some time, having not long earlier been fighting the Wraith’s own battles against the Pegasus Asgard, known as the Vanir. She left Todd with Nesmeti to ensure they had not been followed after engaging with their hated enemy only hours before finding the Goa’uld.

The 401 from the rescue mission managed to retrieve the teams from the moon after it was learned the Wraith had enacted a beam jamming weapon, a typical tactic that had been used before, although having returned to the galaxy after a three year gap, Elle was totally unprepared for it. When she learned of Mike’s capture, she went what would be colloquially called ‘berserk’. She sent the Dreadnought off in a fruitless search for the Wraith ship and in the end she had to be sedated by the ships second MO Captain Julianne Coleman; with Colonel Sheppard taking command they returned to Atlantis.

The outfall.

When Mike was taken the Wraith ship left that immediate system, only to be intercepted by a scout ship of the Vanir. Being somewhat larger and more powerful then the cruiser it was only a matter of time before it was destroyed. With the Wraith cruiser rapidly degrading and only bare minutes of survival left, another Wraith ship, one of the larger attack hive ships of Todd’s fleet commanded by Rhiase the half breed. The Vanir ship was quickly dispatched, a retrieval team sent to rescue those who could be saved and for the second time in a few hours, Mike was once again a captive.

Eventually Rhiase learned of his presence aboard her ship and for the next few hours he was intensely interrogated. It went on for a week after she relocated him to a secure planet under her own control, one where strangely she allowed a few remnant humans to dwell; those she believed were ancestors of her own human side. Essentially they were hidden from the Wraith as somewhere in her black heart she had pity for them. After torturing Mike in some rather unusual ways, ways unique to Rhiase, she had gathered what information she needed, without him even realizing she had done so. In his mind, his memories of his past life began to ebb, very little was left that he could call on, other than some wild fantasy encounter with a very strange female being.

On Atlantis Elle had finally regained command of her ship, but it wasn’t to last. She drove her crew relentlessly, chasing ghosts and premonitions where she could find her love and soul mate. She attacked even the smallest of Wraith bases, some with only a handful of Clevermen, small cruisers and one Hive she mercilessly tore to shards before the other ship could even mount a defence. As her XO exclaimed, this wasn’t war it was slaughter. Relieved of command once again when the ship returned for supplies, this time by the Dreadnought's temporary CMO Carrie Svensson, Elle was returned to Earth to undergo a full psychiatric assessment Of course she was crazy as Sam Carter told one of the interviewing medicos from the Pentagon, Sam said she would have reacted the exact same way and it was only with the intervention of Steven Caldwell, Elle’s former CO, that she was cleared after a week’s rest. She did though have to undergo a thorough examination by Doctor Annie Horowitz on her return at the insistence of Richard Woolsey. The search continues a needle in a haystack.

Meanwhile back on Earth, SG4’s ninety day leave had been extended to a full four weeks when the SGC had realised the team had not taken any leave that was noteworthy in three years. Taking advantage of their position in the team standings and the perks afforded to them, with the Apollo acting as drop of taxi, they saw Russia, then Australia, New York and finally Montana before the leave ended all too soon.

The news though on their return was saddened when Lena and Cate learned of Mike’s disappearance. Both women’s rage almost mirroring that of Elle McFearson’s. Appealing to the new commander of the base, Air Commodore Linda Fraser for them to assist in the search, the appeal was granted with the addition of SG12 joining them, Fraser being fully aware that the teams on Atlantis were exhausted.
