Life is a dream — that knows no shade.
Life is a dream — of pain and woe.
A dream from which — we pray to wake.
A dream from which — we wake and go

GM Post - Attn: All Players:
The war with the Vanir was well underway, and for the Atlantis Expedition, it was leading to roads of uncertainty and confusion. Investigation of attack sites was generating only fewer answers than expected and an image of an enemy that was relentless in its mission to depopulate the Pegasus Galaxy.

Inroads with old allies were made, with Todd's Wraith, with Larrin and the Travelers, and even the El'Dari, but still, nothing concrete was on the table for a plan. Richard Woolsey would have to convene a sort of war council, bring together his best and brightest with the allies of the Expedition to work this out. There was far too much uncertainty and fear, a plan and a roadmap would go a long way to dealing with these concerns, if there could be a plan to be drawn up. Major Lorne and AR-2 had found intel at the Vanir's base of operation, and the science team was hard at work trying to crack what they could of it. But what little they had was painting a terribly dark picture.

In the meantime, something had to be done. Billions were being slaughtered and the only ones who could act, Atlantis, were sitting on their hands, worried over some sensor blips several million miles away. This was a point that John Sheppard was not about to abide any longer. The UNS Dreadnought and UNS Okinawa would be back in action, as would the AR Teams and Task Force Mako. New and veteran personnel alike were about to be tested by an enemy who was the dark mirror of the very race who had given humanity the very edges they enjoyed today...

Atlantis Files eyes only:

Richard Woolsey’s log: Tuesday October 4th 2011

There were two primary goals during the last week of September. On the first mission to MT4-U67 Danwellien a plan was set in place to rescue survivors there from a Vanir attack a few days earlier while Doctor Carson Beckett and his support team were rendering medical aid and general assistance. Doctor Beckett managed to make it back to Atlantis but sadly only one of AR-9 survived with the last member receiving a critical shoulder wound as he arrived back with the last group through the Stargate. Carson informed us that there were still others left behind as well as his notes on a virus that was critical research. UNS Dreadnought was dispatched with AR-1, Doctor Beckett and two teams of Marines to locate and retrieve the last refugees and his notes. They arrived safely only to find the Vanir had left behind a small force of their cloned soldiers who were busily making sure no one survived the earlier attacks. AR-1 managed to fend off the attacks and rescue over 20 people there as well as Doctor Beckett’s notes. The instant they were free and clear they returned to Atlantis.

Mission two was far more complicated.  For M857-Q23 lay also in a grid pattern that Todd had ordered his commanders to patrol having himself literally crossing swords with a single Vanir ship in this region some two months ago. Known as Libernan, it was populated by a people very similar to those of the Hebridan in the Milky Way, even to the point of interbreeding with humans from across the galaxy. They lived on three main continents and for them it was a peaceful life as it had been for over two hundred years when their last wars ended and united all three into one people. The Wraith had of course been an occasional source of irritation, yet their last visit was only a distant memory turned into stories to scare the children into proper behaviour.

They had a Stargate of course and it had been a tool of trade for them up until about fifty years ago when it simply stopped working. None of their brightest minds could work out why and since their space technology consisted of not much more than Earth's might have been around the middle 70's, they couldn't seek help either. Todd sent his Commander Rhiase to scout the area as heightened Vanir activity was noticed in that sector. Her ships were attacked immediately and if not for the timely arrival of Earth’s ship the Okinawa, all would have been lost. The Wraith lost one ship, yet with the combined forces of the remaining Hive ship and the sturdy Oki, they prevailed. It was on the ground where things were rapidly deteriorating with Lt. Colonel David Dixon leading a large Earth force  and the Wraith Rhiase with several hundred Wraith warriors, Mako Force and AR-3, they were pushed to the limit both above and below ground. Doctor Radek Zelenka and his assistant finally got the Stargate working again and only in the nick of time. Many of the Libernans were gated through to another planet during the battle and the final outcome was between the Okinawa and Wraith they managed to board and capture a Vanir cruiser. It had been damaged, but with the El’Dari’s assistance that ship was brought back to full operational ability and turned over to the Libernans. They named it Rankin, after a 16 year old soldier who gave his life guarding his post during the Bunker attacks. All forces returned to Atlantis, the Libernan’s telling them that they wanted to and needed to be at the final battle.

The Vanir were forced into their first stalemate, but so far, all Atlantis has managed to do is form an alliance. Sheppard's plan, however, is to strike the enemy at the head. Information that AR-2 recovered, being worked on by McKay and Zalenka, pointed to sinister plans underway by the Vanir, but the latter was insisting that what the former saw as a secret code was just gibberish - a disturbing tell if true
