 I think the confusion came from a number of people making the transition over to the Episode format, thinking basically its still the same; which I guess it is. So we need to just gently remind them along the way.

 When I get my laptop back, I'll write up a better description of Tallellinian as I don't want it to be seen just as a Star Wars type clone planet, there is more to it.

-Information for the Upcoming Battle:
A combined fleet will arrive in the Tallellinian Sector to attack the Vanir base there. This fleet will be a mix of Human (Dreadnought, Okinawa, Rabaul), Wraith (Todd's Faction), El'Dari and Traveler. The plan is to secure orbit, clear it of Vanir warships, and then land troops to hit the key locations of the base that AR-2 attacked. Based on the information gained, the attack looks like it has a high chance of success at stopping the Vanir.

Ground teams will be deployed to go after several targets -
*AR-1 (Sheppard, Teyla, McKay, Ronon) - They are tasked with hitting the main science labs, both to stop any experiments in progress and to pull any useful information and/or tech.
*AR-2 - They are tasked with destroying the main power plant for the facility, to incapacitate the facility (If we don't have an AR-2 by then, this will happen "off screen")
*AR-3 (O'Neil, Agathon, Cooper, Valentine) - They are tasked with hitting the main control facility in order to disrupt the Vanir's ability to coordinate their defenses.
*TF Mako - They are tasked with destroying the main cloning facility

Marines will secure the three landing zones (LZ Carson, Reno, Tahoe). Ship to ship combat and fighter combat will occur in orbit.

Once everyone is in play to their objectives, the Vanir will de-cloak their main base, a fortress with numerous surface-to-space weapons. They will also de-cloak their main fleet to engage the allied fleet and jam all attempts to beam people back up. This will require that -401s be sent to recover the ground forces the hard way, which will expose them to attack.

The main turning point and sign that this is going to go sideways is the loss of the UNS Rabaul. It will suffer damage and be pulled into the atmosphere, whereupon it will eventually crash into the planet. Some of the crew may escape, but most will end up dead. The Marines will suffer heavy casualties, being wiped out to the last man at LZs Carson and Tahoe, forcing the survivors and retreating teams to dig in and hold out at LZ Reno.

At this point, characters should also suffer wounds. If they are not going to participate in the rescue mission afterwards, then it can be something significant to keep them out of the fight. Minor injuries for the moment are only acceptable for those either going to be stranded or returning later.

Time is running out, the allied fleet is being decimated. The main ships (Dreadnought, Okinawa, any Wraith, Traveler and El'Dari ship containing major characters) are suffering heavy damage and casualties. They have a limited window to recover fighters and the ground teams and get out or be slaughtered. On the ground, the last LZ is being swarmed, -401s are being shot down by Vanir guns and fighters. The last couple -401s should have the people who are going to be stranded on board. Some of these will be shot down instantly, with the other -401s attempting to rescue them and being shot down themselves. The only fighter cover they have left is any F-302s flown by PCs who volunteered to cover them and they will be shot down as well.

By this point, the fleet will have no choice but to withdraw with whoever they have saved. All surviving ships are badly damaged, if they go back, they will most likely be destroyed and repairs will require several days at a minimum. Those who made it out are going to most likely be very upset they left people behind and want to use whatever they have to go get the survivors.

On the ground, the survivors are being hunted by the Vanir. They're tired, injured, forced to scavenge whatever supplies they can from the dead, and they have only one option to leave - finding a way out at the Vanir fortress.

I'll have Todd there with his fleet, although I would like to say at this point we shouldn't take it for granted the Vanir are going to be as over powering in much the same way as the Ori were. For if we take that much damage to our ships you're talking about extremely long periods of time for repairs after the battle has been won. Moving to a new season, we can't very well have lame ships to offer can we?

Carson I suppose can be utilised aboard the Dreadnought to assist Carrie Svennson.

Troy - My understanding was the Hermes is a cargo ship mainly, but if it goes, it'd suffer the same fate as the other PC ships. I was more planning on the Hermes being busy with moving the X-307s from the Gamma Site to Atlantis.

Maz - It's less to do with quality and more to do with the fact that we're in a situation we can't win, it's an ambush. By pinning our forces on the ground, they make it so that we cannot dictate the terms of the engagement and pin the fleet in place. Also, Mel and I did agree that the good guys don't get to always win and it's high time they took it on the chin.

The long of the short of it is that we're not fighting the Goa'uld, who are so arrogant they can't see past themselves. We're fighting basically the Asgard, a race that was miles away the most technologically advanced race in the Milky Way. They've been able to watch us in silence and study how the Expedition acts, reacts, and plan accordingly. There is also one more hook that I've yet to reveal.

The Hermes is an armed Cargo ship to be precise, I wouldn't be sending it into the thick of a battle at this point as effective as it is. I do recall a conversation whether IC or in OOC where it was indicated the Hermes was to hot foot it back to the Gamma site to pick up those aircraft with an El'Dari ship as escort.

So we're not going to have a miracle save the Universe end game here? That does ramp the stakes up considerably and I like the odds.

 I'll have O'Neil stranded and I'm sure the rest of her team will be with her. Teyla I think a good plot bunny will be to have her get separated from AR-1, she can be rescued (of course wanting to get back). Satterfield will lead the 401's and make it back with a limping Liberty.

 We'll need people to throw up some NPC pilots in this and some Marines!  :yes: Btw, the 401's can take a LOT of punishment and with 24 of them on the Dread and 4 on each of the 340's class ships, we might not commit all of them.

Jon will be okay, I guess, a few scratches. Maybe an injurned leg, but nothing too serious.

Haven't seen her on the list yet, but I'm not sure. But yeah, Aria. I have plans for her to be injured up to a point of being out of...what's that term? Like she can't participate in any further future missions or episodes, cause Im pulling her out. I have plans for her to be elsewhere because I'm sick and tired of playing her. Also, because of me being in college, I really want to pull her out of being XO of Dread in case someone else wants to take over for the XO position. Or, really, we can talk about it in a PM. I've informed Mel already of it. I think. But, yeah, I need to cut her back a bit and put her aside for awhile. Maybe occasionally post her, but only as a side post.

We are going to need a rescue team, so let's not all rush to be MIA on the ground.

Also, we're going to need all of the -401s. We're talking trying to get the Dread and Oki Marine contigents, plus AR Teams and Mako, off the surface without any ability to beam off. And they will get shot down. I'm sorry, but you've made them out to be way too OP, they're getting knocked down a peg too, just like the rest of us.

I didn't list any active ship crews, which if you had read my post, you'd have noticed why. Unless you were going to put Aria on the ground team, kind of wasting my time figuring that one out. Also, you didn't say which Jon is doing. If you're going to move Aria, that needs to be done before this mission starts so plans can be made accordingly.

Umm, do you need another pilot, cause Jon is a pilot. Otherwise, he'll follow O'Neil's lead and be stranded on the planet. I mean, if its possible and if its okay with Mel, Jon can be one other pilot? I'm open for ideas for Jon. Because if the pilot thing doesn't work, he'll be stranded along with O'Neil. Works for me, either ways.

Cooper had sustained a grazing wound while acting as the gunner in the Libernan vehicle and a small 'flash-burn' from exploding ordnance during the assault.  He is ready to support any decisions that O'Neil makes for AR-3!

Rodney is helping Carson with moving the injured back to Atlantis, i think he will want to come back and help with the attack on the science buildings tho, if he can join AR1, is that possibel?
