The North Borg Camp of the King
« on: October 14, 2013, 01:00:40 AM »

The main army of the Mountain Borg tribes was situated some 150 miles or so North by North East of the Alpha Site, through rugged mountain and semi tropical forests. The camp itself of the self appointed 'King of the Borg', or Chief as he was known to his followers, was situated in a hidden valley some 50 miles as the crow flies east of the coast. It was within this valley, the Hozgura had landed two ships some five months ago. A heavy cruiser, not of Goa'uld design, more physically in appearance to a Wraith Ship, only uglier. The second ship was an armed troop transport, large and capable of carrying some 8,000; that along with the Cruiser, thinking they could subdue these 'primitives', found themselves in a mile of trouble once they had disembarked. Within a few hours, the Borg had descended upon them, killed and taken captive the entire 10,000+ of the Hozgura and in the bargain lost their ships. Those ships and the arms and technology were a gift to the Borg, Now they were learning to use them; they had one small problem, how to fly the ships?

{Ziggesh - Borg} NPC

<<From West Beach Area>>

The trek had been long and hard, not much sleep, little food, always checking to make sure the humans hadn't caught on to their trail as he carried his irksome burden towards the camp and the chief. But soon now. They were drawing closer, and would meet with the extended guards in a few hours, to make the last leg of the trip. And thank goodness too. His arms were getting tired of carrying the human.

As they walked though, the breeze carried him something, dreary as it was. Wet fur, a familiar scent, one that would make any of their kind pause. It took teams of hunters to bring one down, and with the noise coming on the wind as well, one was heading this way. And it was getting close. He came to a halt, glancing around for a place to put the human, eventually deciding on a little cubby made by some roots and a dip in the ground.

"You stay. Dangerous. Run and die," he growled as he unslung his Rifle  and began scaling the tree to get a better vantage point.

Flynn wasn't enjoying her ride at all.  The Borg wouldn't tell her anything and she had figured out early that if she tried to escape that she would receive another knock upside the head.  She didn't want to to be unconscious.  If she was then she wouldn't know where they were going and she would be stuck with them.  Not something she relished the thought of.  She missed Fred terribly and wished he was there with her.

Flynn grunted softly as the Borg shoved her into a makeshift hole.  She glared up at him.  "Where would I go?" she nearly snarled.  She was trapped and had no idea where to run.  She watched though as he disappeared.  Flynn peeked out of her hole, seeing Ziggesh climb up a tree.  Just what was going on?

{Ziggesh - Borg} NPC

Ziggesh ignored Flynn now, focusing on his situation as he crouched in the tree, focusing on the distant movement as the cracking of wood indicated the threat coming closer. Branches swayed and cracked, as all other animal life vanished, until what it was came into sight. A hulking monstrosity, loping forward on four limbs, long shaggy fur with a snarling face that had sharp teeth, and adorned by sharp black horns. It also had a tail like a whip, capable of slicing through flesh and bone, while it's claws could cut and rend its prey. They were strong, very resistant to pain, and something that should generally be avoided. And one was coming this way. Ziggesh wondered if it was after him or the human, not that it mattered.

The beast lumbered forward, belying how deadly it was in a fight, as Ziggesh lined up on the things back. The head was no good. If he could break it's back, then this fight would be over before it started. Head swinging back and forth, it paused to sniff the air, where Ziggesh made his move, Hozguran weapons fire lancing down at the thing, which took a few hits before dodging behind a tree, a loud screech followed by a roar, like fingernails on a chalk board mixed with a blender, then a low growl.

Ziggesh kept careful watch, hoping the human wouldn't do anything stupid while he made sure the creature didn't charge. He'd hurt it. Now he just needed to kill it.

Flynn stayed in the safety of the cave thing that Ziggesh had thrown her into, but she still kept an eye out, wondering why he had disappeared into a tree.  The hairs on the back of her neck stood up though as the forest suddenly grew quiet.  That was never a good thing.  And then the next thing she heard was a low growl.  A sound like she had never heard before.

Her grayish eyes widened in shock as the monster lumbered into the clearing.  A scream nearly escaped her lips, but she quickly clamped a hand over her mouth.  Flynn started to shake, knowing she wouldn't be able to outrun that that thing.  Whatever it was.  She was really starting to dislike this planet.

She watched as something struck the monster, but only seemed to make it madder as it dodged behind a tree.  Flynn crept a little further out, still staying in cover.  What was it?  And what was it after?  She glanced around, wondering where Ziggesh was.  She had to admit, she would rather have him around then this monster.  And it didn't help that she didn't have any weapons.  Or did she?  She quickly checked her gear, finding her small hand gun that she had carried as a backup.  It wouldn't do much good against that thing though.

{Ziggesh - Borg} NPC

The creature had apparently recovered from its surprise now, moving with surprising speed from tree to tree, hiding from the biting Plasma rifle as Ziggesh persisted in shooting it. It's tail waved agitatedly, slicing off leaves and branches while taking out chunks of tree bark, the wood flying about in small splinters that were a nuisance but not much else.

Ziggesh waited, taking shots when they were available. But it seemed that there was more to this thing than just the strength, speed, and appearance, as it sniffed at the air, noting the two distinct scents which had been mixed before. One was obviously the prey in the tree hurting it. But there was another, closer, and so much more tender, a prey it did not get to feast on often. And it was all here by it's lonesome. Leaving behind the stinging fly, it began to move, following the scent towards where Flynn was hiding, unearthly growl preceding it as it searched for her.

When it seemed like it would find her though, it was distracted from above, Ziggesh's large form landing on it's back,  knife stabbing for the neck as it reared and shook, tail whipping about and laying scratches in his armor, even drawing blood as it tried to shake him off and gut him, while he tried to kill it with his hunting knife, the chorus of grunts, growls, and screeches making quite the cacophony as wood shattered near Flynn. He wasn't going to let anything hurt the human, even if it meant doing something stupid like this.

Flynn hadn't ventured out of her cave yet as Ziggesh had warned her not to.  Shivers ran down her spine though as she heard the creature's cries and growls.  It was like nothing she had ever heard before and she covered her ears briefly.  Just what type of creature was this?   And did she truly want to know?  Especially with no weapon at hand, except her little pistol.

She took a shuddering breath and peeked around the corner, nearly screaming in shock and fear as the creature was almost upon her.  She scooted back quickly, but the animal already had her scent.  She was going to have to get out of its range.  She just wasn't sure how yet.  Could it climb?  Or if she found a hill to run down would it topple over?  There were too many variables that she didn't know.

Her eyes widened as Ziggesh jumped out of the tree, landing on the creature and only making it mad.  She covered her mouth as the animal tried to kill the Borg.  Okay, she had been kidnapped by the Borg, but at least he hadn't hurt her.  Flynn pulled her pistol, not sure if it would do any good, but maybe she could distract the creature long enough to give Ziggesh a chance.  She took aim and fired a couple rounds, hoping this would work.  She nearly backed down though as the creature moved.

((OOC:you're welcome to have the creature's tail slice across her arm or something while struggling if you like, Flame))

The local version of Howler monkeys, larger, with long canine teeth, whooped and screamed with joy, they were the hyena of this world, swooping down on fresh kill when the hunter had finished with it. They sensed a meal and to make sure their 'friend' got his way, they began a barrage of missiles, hard nuts as big as baseballs, fruit, sticks, anything within reach of their long bony hands. Flynn's position was no safer either, large clumps of tree and even bones began to rain down where she hid.

{Ziggesh - Borg} NPC

The scene became more chaotic, more animals making themselves known as the barrage of debris did little to help Ziggesh's stranglehold as he held on for dear life, accepting the whips and slashes across his back as necessary pain, met with a gritting of teeth. Using all his strength, he stabbed at it's neck with his serrated knife, going for a cutting off of the nerves, but it was proving easier said than done. And added to the tumult was the sound of gunshots, bullet slamming into the creature and aggravating it more, though the apparent physical impact was minimal.

Flynn's situation was about to get worse though, as a particularly well aimed shot, added to by some vigorous movement, succeeded in tossing Ziggesh off and slamming him into a tree. While he was recovering, it turned on Flynn, advancing in a stalking manner, as its tail flicked about, growling as it paced towards her. The other creatures continued their cacophony, hurling forest debris at her and making it more difficult to run away, even if the thing hadn't been able to outrun her in the first place. It crouched, preparing to spring.

Flynn glanced above her as she heard what could only be described as laughter.  She winced as she was hit with flying debris.  Stupid animals.  As if the giant monster in front of her wasn't trouble enough.  She backed up a step as it appeared her shots were making the creature angry, but not giving Ziggesh the opportunity she had hoped.  Her grayish eyes widened as the Borg was thrown from the creature's back.

Flynn turned back to face the animal that was approaching her.  Even if she could outrun the thing she had no idea where she was going and she didn't want to just leave the Borg there.  In a round about way he had tried to protect her.  "Nice kitty, kitty," she said, backing toward the tree.  "Good kitty kitty," She turned to try to dodge around it, but something caught her foot and tripped her up, causing her shoulder to hit the tree with a cry.  Her gun skittered out of her hand, leaving her defenseless.  Well, except for the hunting knife that she had on her belt.  She managed to unclip it, while watching the animal with wide eyes.  She didn't even know how to hurt this thing.

{Ziggesh - Borg} NPC

Sadly, not that she really had expected it to work 'Good kitty' wasn't going to work on this thing. But without her gun, it wasn't looking good for Flynn. The creature paced forward before striking, razor tail whipping forward and laying a gash in her arm. It growled at the scent of blood, and prepared for the kill.

Ziggesh, in the meanwhile, had gotten his breath back, and was now planning, having taken stock of the situation and preparing to save his human. He grabbed the Hozguran pulse rifle and fired off a barrage, energy bolts slamming into the thing with a thrum to get it's attention, which it succeeded in. It whirled about to confront the greater threat, sharp tail nicking Flynn again as it spun about.

Ziggesh emptied blast after blast into it, before discarding the rifle and, with great precision and skill, threw his knife, the serrated blade flying with amazing accuracy to sink into the thing's left eye, causing an even louder bloodcurdling screech of pain as it was blinded. He took advantage of it's new weakness to get around it to stand between it and Flynn. After all, the thing might be injured and partially blinded, but it wasn't dead.

Flynn tried to scoot away from the monster, not that she was expecting to get far as her back hit a tree behind her.  Oh, this wasn't good at all.  She glanced around, wondering if she would make a play for her gun and still stand a chance against whatever this thing was.  A gasp escaped her lips as she pulled her arm against her chest, blood soaking her jacket.

The young woman felt a little light headed, but she wasn't about to give in.  Oh no, she wasn't going down without a fight.  When the creature spun around though to go after Ziggesh its tail caught her side, sending her into the tree again and nearly causing her to lose consciousness.  She bit her lip and closed her eyes tightly, feeling warm blood on her arm and side.  Not a good sign.

Flynn opened her eyes partway and saw Ziggesh standing in between her and certain death.  She noticed that his knife was gone as well and apparently his rifle was out of shots.  "Knife, use, get rid of that," she managed to say, reaching with her uninjured hand to get her knife and held it weakly toward Ziggesh.  It was a good, sharp hunting knife.  One that her brother had gotten her years ago and she had kept in perfect shape.

{Ziggesh - Borg} NPC

Ziggesh glanced down and took the knife as he pulled out another one from a side sheath, holding them akimbo as he stared down the injured creature. He rotated to stay in it's weak field of vision, calculating where to strike while leaping back from flicks of the tail

It soon became apparent that he was playing with it, letting it strike at him before dodging out of the way. The purpose seemed to be to torture it for a longer period, but that proved not the case. His plan was quickly revealed after another strike, where the tail slammed into a tree, and being stuck for a few brief seconds. Not long, but certainly enough time for what Ziggesh had planned, which was to spin about and slash downward which his grasped blades, cutting further up the tail, away from the blade. With a roar, the creature sprang away as the blade in it's tail was separated from the rest of it's body.

Now the end came as he slammed into it with a fury, blades flashing through the air and leaving bleeding tracks where it cut through flesh as he finished it off with quick, efficient blows. It collapsed to the ground with a whimper, as he turned back to Flynn, putting away the knives and pulling out some bandages and medicinal herbs as he silently began to tend to her wounds.

Flynn silently watched the battle going on between Borg and whatever that creature was.  She closed her eyes briefly as she tried to conserve her energy.  Her eyes shot open though when she heard the creature's scream and was shocked to see that Ziggesh was able to finally do away with the monster.  She knew she would have been done for if it had just been her in the woods.

Flynn carefully pulled herself up against the tree, her arm still cradled against her stomach.  She watched quietly as Ziggesh approached her.  For the moment she wasn't afraid of him.  He had just saved her life after all.  "Ow," she whispered softly, closing her eyes but letting him tend her wounds.  She had a bad feeling the one on her arm was pretty bad.

{Ziggesh - Borg} NPC

Ziggesh quickly got to work, working the herbs into a paste and spreading it across the gash on her arm before he wrapped a bandage tightly around it. The herbs would numb the pain and accelerate her bodies natural healing process, and it would do until a trained medicus could look at her.  He then tended to her side, repeating much of the same process as he cleaned the wound there and applied more herbs.

When he was done, he stood back up. "Can move," he asked. Carrying her with her injuries was probably not the best idea, if he didn't want to make it worse. But if she found herself unable to continue their trek, he would have to. The humans were still coming after all, and he needed to get them back to the camp.
