<<From Labs>>

"I really need to cut back on something!" Melinda said absently as she arrived in the gate room. So far it would appear she was the first, neither Cam nor Juliet were around for the moment. So, she dropped her largish pack on the floor and began rummaging through it, finding what she needed in a few seconds. With a satisfied smile on her face, she withdrew a wrapped energy bar, studied it for a perhaps 30 seconds, then slowly peeled away the paper. Before she started eating, a small feeling of guilt crossed her mind; Mel looked up at the platform above, noted she wasn't yet seen and began chewing the soft fruity bar contentedly.

<<from Engineering lab>>

Juliet finished securing to her gear the radio and the stunner pistol she just checked out of the armory as she reached the Gateroom.
She sighed in relief: not only she made it in time, but she also managed to arrive before Mitchell himself, as Olofsson was the only one there, and she was even having a break.
She entered the room but purposedly avoided the vet; instead she pulled out her tablet and started going over Radek's notes.
At least 5000 years old, almost a km in lenght, several floor of unknown tech...
"Woah, this is huge!!"  She whispered to herself.

Atlantis Recon Team Seven had just returned from an off world mission and stood in the Gate room, they had been sent back from their mission as the Negotiation team leader felt that the additional support wasnt required.

"So Grandpa what are you up to this weekend?" Asked Roberts as he took off his tactical vest and slung it over his shoulder by the carry handle.
"Ok, A its Captain, or Granddad. Im not a spasticated sister shagging hillbilly." He said looking at Roberts and crossed his arms over his P90. "And B non of your bussines numb nuts." He said as he looked around at the others, each seamed to be a bit shocked, then again each of the officers around him had been the sort of guys to be honor students and had family lineages as officers. he sighed. "Go on lads, bugger off, go turn your crap at the armoury." He said as he handed over his stuff with the exception of his leg holster and pistol. As the team leader he was waiting for more infomation from the gate room techs, they normally would direct him to the base commander, but not always.

{Colonel Cameron Mitchell}

{Petty Officer Frank Jardine RAN} NPC

{Corporal Tyler Hopman USMC} NPC

<<From AR Team ready room>>

It took longer than expected to find volunteers for this little foray, most of the seasoned marines and other combat personnel always saw this ops as baby sitting egg heads. Cam had to agree with that sentiment; but since this was his idea in the first place, he had to do a little more convincing than usual. He in the end, found two willing subjects with men, who were among the most experienced in Atlantis, as far as actual combat was concerned. Australian Navy CDT Jardine, at forty seven, was a thirty year veteran and had seen more than his share in the front lines. Corporal Hopman, though much younger at thirty two, had done more tours in both Iraq and the 'Stan than he had hot meals; and they were more than willing to join the Colonel. If only to make sure two young women were kept safe.

"Hey, Frank. Looks like Williams is back with his Kindy class." Tyler joked, elbowing his team mate.

The older man simply rolled his eyes, looked over at the young marines, kids basically and gave a solemn nod to Sam. The poor guy deserved better than trying to teach wet behind the ears Lieutenants, the skills of their trade. "Sir." He said in acknowledgement to the Englishman.

Cam ignored the comment from Hopman, it was typical of the man. "Williams, how did it go?" he asked in passing, taking note of both Juliet and Melinda's readiness. "About to head out myself. Ladies, ya'all ready for this little picnic?"

The last of the energy slipped down Melinda's throat, she almost choked on it as Juliet arrived, seemingly ignoring her or simply being courteous. The young Dane, depsite her rather darker but small past, was taught well that it was rude and vulgar to eat in front of others. Maybe she could make that up later, she did have about eight more in her pack. Then the British Captain and his team arrived, that made her even more self concsious; Mel had grown comfortable around officers like Mitchell, Ronon and Sheppard, but she still had this suspicion of men in genearal. Another little dark shadow from her past. She avoided looking at them, just nodding and answering Cam. "As ready as ever Colonel. This is our escort no?" She said, that accent coming out slightly when she inclinded her head towards Jardine and Hopman.

The kawoosh of the incoming wormhole almost caught Juliet off her feet, distracted by her studies as she was; she however regained composure fairly quickly as she moved aside to let AR7 come in.
She kept on studying, trying her best to ignore the soldiers making funl of each other in their annoying "manly" militay way, but without much success. "Walking hormones" she muttered to herself, shaking her head disdainfully, until Mitchell called out at her and Olofsson.
"Yes Colonel, I'm ready." she said, nodding affirmatively, and putting her tablet back in her bag.
Actually, it was her first real offworld mission, not counting those at Earth's Alpha site for the standard training, but she was definitely more excited than anxious, mostly considering that this was not a recon mission and they were escorted by two clearly seasoned and experienced marines.

Captain Samuel Williams

Sam looked at the Marine corporal. "Hopman, shut up, and if you dont, when you get back your going to get the beasting of your life, or I might just break your legs, depends on my mood." He turned to Frank when he was done and nodded. "Petty Officer." and Lastly he turned to the Colonel and shrugged, he should have stood to attention, but Mitchell wasnt the sort of guy to give him a bolloucking over it. And Sam would have saluted, but neither him, nor the Colonel we're wearing hats. "Honestly Colonel. It was boring as hell. we stood around, and then the Negotiator asked me and my team to leave, apparantly four guys standing around the stargate with P90's was scary. Or my fag may have been offencive, I wasnt really paying attention after I got told to leave." He had actually listened, but the village elder wasn't the easiest to understand.

{Colonel Cameron Mitchell}

{Petty Officer Frank Jardine RAN} NPC

{Corporal Tyler Hopman USMC} NPC

Any moment now a fight was likely to break out, relations between some of the US Marines and other nations forces hadn't quite been the diplomatic harmony Woolsey could wish for. If it weren't for Sheppard, Lorne and now Cam, heads would have been cracked long ago; something had to be done about it. More so when you looked at the disparity between Williams and Hopman. The former in his later years and not exactly a figure of health; the later just into his thirties, and tipping the scales at around two hundred pounds of muscle, including his head; wasn't quite the match Sam could hope for. Cam tactfully held his hand up behind his back, more or less telling Hopman to shut his trap, so at least they could get on with their job without any hostility prior to leaving.

"Old guy Sam, no teeth?" He inquired, Cam himself had a similar story to tell not so long ago. "It does get worse if its the place I'm thinking of, you were lucky." But it was time to go. "I'll catch you later Sam. Chuck!" He called out loudly. "Dial it up, Tur Salanus please. Ladies, if you would follow after me, Hopman, Jardine, you have our tail."

"I'm gonna enjoy being behind those two." Tyler said with a typical male smirk on his face, his head inclined towards Juliet and Melinda.

"You don't quit do you Hopman?" Frank spat in disgust. "Just do your job, no more no less."

Captain Samuel Williams.

"Thats the guy!"
Said Sam as he nodded a little to cam as the man walked off, but before they could leave Hopman spoke, and Sam sighed. "Shup up Corporal. Or I will actully have you running laps of the city untill you die of dehydration." He said calmly as he walked away from the leaving team, nodding to the two scientists as he passed them and headed up the stairs to the commanders office.

Juliet took place behind Mitchell and waited for Dr. Olofsson to come along, trying in her mind to translate the name that the Ancients gave to the planet, but had to stop before she could properly do it when she heard the not so nice note that marine made about her without even bothering to lower his voice.
She rolled her eyes in disgust, then turned around with a sarcastic smile on her face
"I'm not sure that's what the Colonel meant when he asked you to "watch our six", Corporal..."
She turned back and gently elbowed Melinda
"Do we really have to stick with these walking hormones?" she whispered to her before heading towards the gate.

"Forse troveremo alcuni carnivori affamati, Juliet." Melinda said none to quietly as she hitched up her backpack, giving a slight backwards glance over her shoulder. She made it a point to ignore the Corporal and hoped that the older man, Jardine would sort him out. He at least seemed to be a reasonable sort, a little more steady, not given to flyaway comments.

Swallowing down a gulp. she waited for Chuck's response and the inevitable kawoosh of the opening Stargate, this was always her most nervous moment. Melinda knew only too well what happened to the human body when you stepped through that puddle. Even though this would be her fifth time, she still didn't like it.

{Petty Officer Frank Jardine RAN} NPC

{Corporal Tyler Hopman USMC} NPC

{Chuck Campbell - Gate Technician} NPC

"I get the feeling my reputation has gone up a few notches in the last few." Tyler quipped as he fell into line beside Frank. The older man simply rolled his eyes, shrugged and silently prayed something large would fall on the man before the day was out.

"Dialing Colonel, stand clear." Chuck replied from above. The last was obvious and all personnel were far enough away not to be cut in half by the opening of the Stargate.

A moment later the puddle was open, standing there gurgling as it always did. "You are clear sir." Not that he knew any different.

"Right then, after me kiddies." Cam told them, a tinge of weariness in his voice. That corporal in his mind was now beginning to have been the wrong choice. He stepped through the gate, the first to disappear.

A few moments later he radioed back to them.

 "All's well, come on through."

"One moment Captain." Chuck told him from his perch above. He had to shut the gate down first, open the iris then redial. This he did promptly and the chevrons began to light up. "You're clear sir!" He called again as the wormhole connected. "Good luck."
